Energy/Dark
Well having no end doesnt help but once you get dark regeneration and stamina you'll be fine as you'll level you'll get cloak of fear and or oppressive gloom both really good damage mitigation. Just like any toon you have to give it time to develop
thePhilosopher Martial Arts/Regen/Fire Scrapper
theRegulator Empathy/Energy/Soul Defender
Total Inertia Ice Blast/Kinetics/Psy Corruptor
Total Inferno Ice Blast/Thermal/Leviathan Corruptor
I hope so can't wait for 16 for dark regen :P
Then you'll have even less end for a while it has a HUGE end cost LOL
Best leave Dark Regen until you have stamina with 3 SO's tbh
Well, given you're the only one visible and in melee range you're probably taking the brunt of the aggro.
It does get better. A lot better.
Stick it out till 18* and you won't care how often you die after that point
*gotta love that total focus.
Has to be said, I found up to 18 a bit of a yawn ... then ok ... but after 34 it got just plain amazing.

I had both a EM/dark brute as a stalker, the shields have exact same stats. Eventualy i dropped my brute, the stalker was somehow way better in fighting, change of fighting style did help alot though. And you get ET earlier

btw dark aura has poor resistance to smashing/lethal damage, so that may be a problem.
Actualy same resist as fire tankers, and they dont go down that fast either

Its the EN that fire have over Dark, and they REALLY have that over dark, cause darks end res is pants

True, but fire is not that much better and I seemed todo great on my fire brute!
Would a Energy/Energy brute be better!?
*cough cough* Energy/elec.
Much as I love my /dark scrappers (and having proved they can do things that a /regen simply can't, like carnie alphas) their uberness has become situational. The lack of energy resist is a problem for brutes. A problem solved by /elecs capped resist. Also, I find CP, powersink, and Power Surge much better PVE tools than CoF and OG for a brute, due to fury relying on minions hitting you. And soul transfer is only good when ganked, for that "hah, dark nub got pwnd lol" Resurrect, and stun everything "TIME FOR ROUND TWO!" moments.
/elec can build fury faster, has better resists to all (which was meant to be one of darks strong points) and psi and negative resists, the strongest resist points of /dark (although weaker).
It falls behind because, lets face it, Dark Regen > Grounded.
But if you're finding the dark to be a bit squishy, I strongly reccomend EM/Elec. Go on, be uber
Already got an elec/elec :P
In that case, roll SS/Elec before they become unfashionably FoTM.
Perma Fury without hasten? A full attack chain at level 8? God-Mode SMASH!ing? YESPLZ!
kthxbye.

[/ QUOTE ]....since when can't regens take carnie alphas?
Without DP or IH running, they faceplant. I've seen those damn ringmistresses splat a granite before now (actually they held through granite first).
Carnie alpha's are hellishly powerful, and they've reduced me to the very bottom of my health. And that's WITH all my psi and s/l resists on. A regen (unless they were running DP) can't take that kind of punishment, in my experience.
The only scrapper I know of that stuggles with Carnie alphas is Inv. At least that's my experience, I must have just teamed with a load of lucky or good regens.......... I go with lucky

like you're the only regen I've teamed with. Besides I watched you get held by MIs that was funnier than anyone planting

Can't comment on any other builds as my energy/dark brute is pretty much the only character I have only really used in the game so far, but I would stay stick with it.
I love my en/dark brute, to such an extent that every time I try and test out one of my other characters i very quickly give up and go back to the brute - so far I have 2 whole servers with slots full of heroes and villains, the brute is level 33, the rest are between 2-8!
Dark armour has alot better resist to psi in my experience, and has toxic resist without a tier 9 power/demonic accolade. The only drawback compared to /elec is that I would rather build fury with a shield rather than rez and stun mobs around me. Elec also has a auto hit endurance recovery power - power sink, that made me pleased Idropped dark consumption (from dark melee).
I would take aid self - and then use the AOE damage/+self health move as a way to gain fury faster, falling back on aid self when u need to either run or die.
I cant see any endurance recovery powers in dark armour (my experience was using an EM/dark stalker), but I think this may gimp it as a brute set. However cloak of darkness has a 60% perception increase, which shouldnt be overlooked. The set pretty much requires acrobatics for knockback protection though.
Someone please tell me this set gets better! I'm at level 13 always in a team with a Fire/Fire dom & a DM/Nin stalker and I'm always first down :P
