Ice Tanker - Hibernate
Hyperthetcally the taunts last to the end of their taunt duration. In practice you usually find you loose all your aggro the instant you turn on the power, leading to instant teamwipe.
Ice tanks have been complaining about this for ages.
I really should do something about this signature.
Cheers for the reply...something tells me I'll not be taking this power then!
It could be better but I find you can get away with it for around 3-5 seconds with properly slotted chilling embrace. I think it's a fine power choice if you find you need the extra healing and hoarfrost hasn't come back yet. Basically it's good for when the choice is either "you die and entire team goes with you" or "you live and there is a fairly high chances the rest of the team does."

Not been my experience when I tested it recently. If I used Taunt then Hibernate, I could normally heal to full HP before the Taunt ran out. Of course, I tend to slot my Taunt fairly heavily, and also slot Health.
I know several US Ice Tankers now swear by Hibernate, and I was certainly impressed with it. I'll definitely be taking it on my own Ice Tanker.

Definitely. And it's superb when soloing, of course.
Oh, one more thing - if you're Ice/Ice, you can drop an Ice Patch right before hibernating, and then even if your Taunt runs out, the mobs won't be going anywhere.
I must confess I'm a bit stingy with the taunt enhancers, and I do have hibernate, I just wish actually activating the power had a taunt effect. As my secondary is Energy Ice Patch is not available to me.

The problem with Hibernate is that it still takes too long to activate to be useful in an emergency, especially as the healing component doesn't kick in immediately (At least it didn't when I last respecced it out just after I6).
The only times I've ever used it successfully were once vs the Envoy of Shadows to keep myself alive against his auto-hit aura and then vs the Psychic Clockwork King, where the power bugged and the AV & support mobs became perma-aggroed to my hibernated form and allowed the rest of the team to pick him off at will.
The rest of the time I just used it to drop from the sky onto new players in Atlas or the Hollows and scare the [censored] out of them.
To be honest, the stealth increase to the activation time coupled with the 30-second timelimit was what finally turned me off the power for good.

Before the time limit Hibernate used to be extremely useful, since I often have to go AFK at short notice, and it's nice to come back and not be dead.

Strange OK the healing isn't instant but if you get 5 seconds of healing then you can be almost fully recovered. If it's a choice between face planting along with the rest of the team or taking a risk, I'll take the risk every time. Also I can't think of another power I would rather take, as I have everything useful I can find.
Just out of interest, can u run hibernate with icicles? text seems to indicate you can (as both powers v unpopular not sure anyone has experience with this).
If you can, might be fun: as icicles presumable would have punchvoke quality?

i got an ice/ice with taunt slotted rather excessively cos i slow them and want them to remember me by the time they get to my herdpoint (ok if they get there). i also figured this would work well with hibernate. But what i havent even seen yet and prolly wont get to try out for a long while is frozen aura so i am just wondering how you see that as being effective apart from when soloing?
He will honor his words; he will definitely carry out his actions. What he promises he will fulfill. He does not care about his bodily self, putting his life and death aside to come forward for another's troubled besiegement. He does not boast about his ability, or shamelessly extol his own virtues. - Sima Qian.

Hibernate makes you intangible, so no, you can't.

I have to agree, it's not my experience either. I've seen a Ice tanker tanking a AV and holding aggro 100% of the time with taunt, hibernate, taunt, aid self, taunt, insp, taunt, aid self, taunt, hibernate, and so on.
oh no...now i'm being swayed...maybe I should pick it up. To be honest, experimenting with hero planner, there's nothing of much use to pick up elsewhere at 32...may as well take it and try and make it work for me!

Do you find the 5 man Taunt limit a bit of a handicap? That is potentially a lot of loose enemies.
Of course a dead tanker holds very little aggro. Although I reckon it should be changed so that villains jump up and down on the body at least until any taunts wear off.

True, it's not perfect - what helped was the duration of the Taunt and Slow from CE, so even when the mobs not affected by Taunt started to move away from me, they did so slowly.
Against larger groups I had pretty good success with dropping an Ice Patch right before Hibernating.
It's very much a matter of timing, but with three-slotted Health I found that the HP regen while Hibernating was very fast.

Exactly how I look at it.

Hehehe. I'll suggest that to Cryptic.
Like bridger has said, taunting before Hibernate is a good idea. I love the power. Invincible while you heal? Yes please. Besides a dead tank is no use to the team. Would rather risk using Hibernate than die. If the team dies as soon as hibernate goes on, and I mean as soon as, then the odds are either impossible or the team is just plain pants anyway. Just my two cents.
Quick question...Hibernate...the lvl 32 Ice Tanker power...what happens to your taunt powers when you hibernate?
For exmaple, does Chilling Embrace still taunt them or if you taunt them then immediately hibernate, does the taunt still hold so they're just hitting an invincible block of ice?
Or, conversely, do taunts just disappear and the mobs start aggroing the teammates? If this is the case, what is the point!?!
