Shield/fire pvp build

I've got a shield/fire tank that I love to play. I want to make a pvp build and am wondering what I should focus on when it comes to set bonus and all that. Also, I'm just curious ... does a shield/ build even have any potential? (im /fire, and I know that most people are running SS these days so let's jsut avoid that topic altogether).

I play a shield scrapper and I can honestly say One with shield is worthless in PVP. Ive tried it with Heal IO's, Heal Sets, Resist Sets and found it the only thing it was good for was recovery and max hp. 2 other powers that are pretty much useless Ive found is the + resist buff but you only get the +3% base and thats it its more of a group buff but hey 3% is better than nothing in PVP. Also the +dmg -foe dmg power is quirky depending on the type of players in zone. Its tauntable so it can be detoggled and it also acts as a taunt so if your around npc's on the map, you likely to get attacked. It also cannot be setted out. I picked it up and have it single slotted with a end redux. figure a little less dmg taken and a little more gained is better than none.

Definately pick up Tough and Weave. I also picked up the Concealment pool to get Stealth and slot it out, not to mention the phase comes in handy for retreats AND for the villains who like to phase, you can phase with them and pumble them. Ive done alot of both and with One With Shield as crappy as it is there really is no UBER defense power for Shield set. In all aspect it is a valuable power reguardless you use it for escaping or killing.

As for set bonuses. your a tank. get your HP and Def/Resist. Ive noticed the Tanks can take a pretty good bit of damage and better set bonuses definately help out in the end. Go for Aegis or better, Luck of the Gambler or better, etc. Same goes for setting your attacks..

For damage I would almost suggest trying to get your heaviest attacks and possibly trying to hold out for epic power pool attacks. Flurry does good dmg when slotted out but has long animation time. Not really sure on the dmg of epic pools vs a tanks normal attacks so you may do what feels best for you.

I relatively use 4 main attacks in PVP. With the way people phase, disappear, or just stand there frozen not taking a lick of dmg, Im constantly switching targets. By the time you get to your next possible kill, your heaviest of hits are recharged or almost.

Gluck with your build. Ive done respec'd bout 5 to 6 times now just trying out different ideas to stay alive longer. So far its starting to come together although I do think Shield is definately lacking compared to regen, willpower, etc. but I enjoy playing it and hope for the best.
