Teleport bind woes

/bind SHIFT+LBUTTON “powexec_name Teleport”

[/ QUOTE ]

This is what I type in on my character. I have teleport, I am past lv 14, blah blah blah, I am confused. Shouldn't this work?

[ QUOTE ]
Unknown command: "powexec_name

[/ QUOTE ]

This is what I'm getting when I hold my left shift and try to use my bind.

Someone on the /hc channel told me to use:
[ QUOTE ]
/bind Left Shift+Left Click powexec_name Teleport

[/ QUOTE ]
I am still recieving the error message in my global though.

I'd like to clarify that I DO indeed teleport "sometimes" when I hold shift and left click, but I get this error message each time I use the bind. When traveling long distances it fills my chat window. How can I fix this without editing my chat window? I could have sworn what I had was correct.

I picked up my original bind from the guide section...

Your problem is your fancy-pants quotation marks. Try typing the command again (the original, not the one from /hc... which is horribly wrong) without those, the game doesn't realize they're supposed to be the same as ' " '.

Make sure you're not copy/pasting that bind, the quotation marks are different and it won't work if you do a direct paste.

Alternately, you can copy SHIFT+LBUTTON "powexec_name Teleport" into your keybinds.txt file in the main CoH directory.

Got it! Thank you both.

Hmm okay. It's teleporting and the command error isn't coming up (It is working correctly now, thank you.) Now for another question relating to teleporting binds...

It seems to be working differently as compared to when I played a Teleporting character in the past. I could hold down the Shift key and just click where I want to be teleported to.

Now it seems like pressing this shift key alone gets the little target area with the little white moving circles asking me to confirm where I want to land instead of being a combined key power.

Is it possible to get it so pressing shift won't halfway activate a teleport? Right now, I can tap shift, come back 5 minutes later, click anywhere on the screen and I'll teleport there. I'd like Left Shift AND left click to need to be combined to teleport.

I could have sworn it was normally like how I'm asking in the past. It seems quite fishy at the moment. Is it my bind?

edit: fixed 1st sentence

I reread my post and totally confused myself, haha! I remember *holding* down Shift and tapping the left mouse button to teleport, not repeatedly pressing shift each time I want to teleport.

It's possible that the shift key got messed up with all your previous attempts. Try /unbind shift and see if that fixes it.

[/ QUOTE ]I would use /bind shift nop when trying to clear a key instead, as unbind just sets it to the default.

The default of shift is Nop.

Yay! It's working great now! Seems to be cleared up to 100% now. Now I can tank in Granite better then before. Thank you, everyone.

The default of shift is Nop.

[/ QUOTE ] Even so, it's a good point to make for future reference regarding other keys.

[/ QUOTE ] I hope your tanking ability didn't really depend on this bind working..

Anyway.. glad you have it working the way you wanted.

Only when I'm in constant agro-cap. (Some of those AE missions get pretty intense!) I don't depend on it really, but not having jump has it's set backs.

On a side note, it was always my understanding that alt, control, and shift are chords, but the specific keys (with L and R) were just that.. specific keys. I was pretty sure "LSHIFT" couldn't be chorded... unless it's actually bugged to work this way. I dunno.

Edit:
I just tested, and I think I'm right.. trying to chord Lshift automatically defaults it to shift. Pressing the right shift button yields the same results, and a bindloadfile shows SHIFT+LBUTTON (without the first L).

I know you are right. In the old huge bind/help thread (sadly deleted) I made that exact point several times.
