Crit from hidden?

I'm a D&D fan. I make no bones about it. That's why I think that when stalkers and VEATs get criticals from the Hidden state, it should say "SNEAK ATTACK" instead of "CRITICAL," et al.

But.... It's a Critical (or Assassin Strike, or Stealth Strike, or Executioner Strike), not a Sneak Attack...

That's kinda like asking for Controller critical holds to say "Scourge" or Domination buffed attacks to say "Vital Strike".

But it kind of IS a Sneak Attack, don't you see? You get them because the enemy can't see it coming. Thematically speaking of course. Although I do think Assassin's Strike and Executioner's Strike should stay the same because they're unique.

I wouldn't put it past WotC to have copyrighted the use of Sneak Attack where it applies to any additional effectiveness when using an attack from a hidden or advantageous state.

The big problem is having the powers themselves differentiate between normal crits and crits from the hidden state. IIRC, the game views both of them in the same manner. One of them is just a power case wherein the effect is guaranteed and the other where the effect has only a chance of occuring.

Thematically speaking, can it really be called "sneaking around" when you're actually invisible? Sure, it may be called "Hide," but several powersets use literal invisibility, such as Energy Aura and Dark Armour.

In which case "Stealth Strike" would be appropriate.

But Sneak Attack is cooler.
