5 Year badge means -- logging in all my characters

I do have a lot of pads from the 'great supergroup bonus' about 18 months ago. But those are easy to spot, as they are all named 'Paddingtoon###' - the ### being numbers.

[/ QUOTE ]

And every time you do log one on, I bet you get a ton of requests to pad! Now I'm tempted to roll a character named Paddingtoon Bear.

Oh, and a couple of people said the anniversary badges should be global. It's not a big deal, but I kind of like them being character based. The vet rewards tell people I've been playing the game for x months. The anniversary badges tell people I've been playing this character for x years. I'm pretty sure I have a level 2 character with all 5 anniversary badges. He was the first tank I ever created, and I just haven't gotten around to playing him yet.

*nod* I'm similar to this. I don't generally care about badges, but I do like my characters having an "I was here when..." badge.

Only one who doesnt' have the first year one is, actually, the first version of my forum namesake, since I was considering deleting him at that popint. (Lowbie fire tank, I believe just after some Tsoo sorcs were using him as a pinball, pre-20, and I was working on a blaster instead.)

I think the real question is, if I can go back in time via Ouro, then why can't I go back to May 2007 and get the 2nd year anniversary badge that all of my characters are missing?

I have about 100 active toons between two accounts and when I have an Log 'em All In event, I just set an evening aside. I usually drop a mish and move them to a new day job locale and put them back on the shelf.

[/ QUOTE ]

My method, as well. Did it yesterday morning, in fact. Took me about three hours, but part of that was me fooling around with long unplayed toons playing a bit of "shoot 'em up" on the way to their next day job location. I think the last of these "everyone" badges I did, I hustled and it took me a little under two hours.

However, logging in and updating my spreadsheet, takes a lot of time, especially if I decide to go find an NPC whose name begins with the letter M to find out my /played time (number of hours played).

[/ QUOTE ]

I'd have to bet that "updating your spreadsheet" was the far bigger of the time sinks than just logging in for the badges.

No spreadsheet here but around 60 characters I am logging in for the badge. I'm not logging in all of them.

see, if the devs only allowed everyone to play one character this wouldn't be an issue.

[/ QUOTE ]

That is true. The game would have folded a long time ago and wouldn't be around to have the concern.

I do this occationally, but there are a few characters I leave out. I run HeroStats so I can have it grab the information and update badge Hunter.

Being as the login window for days jobs is 21 days. I normally log into each character at leats that often.

Thats about 3/day on average.

What the hell do you guys do with all those characters? How can anyone have more than 3 ACTIVE toons, there's not enough time in the day to do any more than that.

After you fill up the 12 character slots on 1 server how do you access the one's that say unavailable?

You can buy extra slots as well as getting 4 for veteran rewards. For some people it is creating new characters after hitting 50, for some of us we like to try everything and depending on the day could feel like playing something different. I enjoy having a toolbox of characters so whatever group I want to join or whoever I want to play with I'll always have something in the level range to pull out. Also there are a lot of creative people in this game. We come up with a character concept and just feel compelled to create it. Most of my characters never make it out of the teens, but I don't want to delete them because you never know when you might want to come back to them or when a change might make them more interesting. I regularly return to old characters when the whim hits me.

I think I have something on the order of 8000 hours on my main toon. I have four other 50s, but Doc Turg's the skin that wears the best. I know plenty of altoholics tho. I just shake my head at their schizophrenia.

I only have about .. 6 characters or so, that I actually care if they get all the badges. The rest? Meh. If I feel like logging onto them I will. I'm not going to sacrifice the little playtime I have just to fill the GottaHaveIt compulsion.

2 accounts and close to 270 characters, here. Yes, I logged every single one of them in. It *Is* tedious, but if you want the badges for em, then you'll do it. I did a server each day.

Only 62 or so. I missed one event badge, I think it was the 4th anniversary, on the Freedom group, because I thought I had already gotten it. But 30+ of them have all the event/anniversary badges, so I will keep logging on and getting them. Of course, when the event started, I only had 60. I just had to create a couple of new alts to add to my stable.

Ok, now I have to count...

Virtue - 17 & 16
Freedom - 12 & 12
Infinity - 12 & 12
Justice - 11 & 12
Guardian - 8 & 4
Victory - 12 & 12
Liberty - 9 & 8
Protector - 10 & 1
Pinnacle - 6 & 4
Triumph - 5 & 5
Champion - 6 & 3

So that's... um... (busts out the calculator) ah... 207?

I got a lot of work to do, apparently, to catch up... but I've logged nearly all of them in this month, so that problem's solved!

Personally, I blame Kurt Busiek. He inspired me to make characters the "Astro City" way.

And it depends on what you mean by "active". I have toons I pull out a couple of times a week. Some I might pull out once every couple of weeks. Some maybe once a month. Some I haven't touched in years (aside from badge updates and the like). I just like lots of choices.

8000 hours is amazing. When I hit 50 I am done with that character. I'll bring it back on sometimes to assist or for a TF/SF, but there is really no reason for me to keep playing it so I don't . It's story is complete, but there are many other stories to tell.

See, I'm the exact opposite. For me, 50 isn't the end of the road at all. For me, the story's ongoing, all the time. Just because your ability to grow plateaus doesn't mean the character or build isn't fun to play. I've had that illusion/storm since May 2004 - years before it turned into a FOTM variant, and the style/build with Doc Turg sits the best with me, partially because it's "my" personality when I play him. I have four other 50s that I really dig playing, but at the end of the day, when someone says "bring whatever toon your want", it's always Doc T that makes the list.

And yeah, different strokes for different folks. Some people love the variety, which I can respect; and DAMN, that guy with 270 toons he logs in for badges... I thought my 24 toons were bad enough. XD The best part about this system? It accommodates ALL player types!

Yah, we're the same... I have no idea how many hours I have on Liv or his little brother Flamestripe (shameless plug), but it's at least in the high thousands, for each of them.

I seem to be the opposite of an altoholic. I have, maybe... 6 other characters aside from those two main characters. I love them all, but most of them languish in the thirties, covered in bed-sores, limbs flaccid and atrophied from inactivity. I haul them out now and then and put them through their paces for TF's when I can, but largely it's all about the Brothers McRae.
