Just looking for Mayhem mission advice

After not completing one with a group last night, I thought I might ask for some advice over here.

So far, I have never succeeded in a mayhem mission with more than two people, and while last nights was at the highest difficulty, I've failed them with 4 people at difficulty 3 before, and this time, like the other times, the teams had been doing well and syncing nicely up until that point.

I was just kind of wondering what kind of advice there is out there for how to handle them. Is there a trick, or a certain order things should be done?

Is your normal routine to fight your way to the bank, or just rush there as quick as possible?

Go slow. Don't rush to the bank unless you KNOW the team can handle it and communicate... which, IMHO, tends to mean "established SG/friends team." Wait for ambushes, destroy stuff on the way, take the ambushers out as they come. I've had, since mayhems came out, perhaps two PUGs that rushed and did well. The rest were team wipes and massive ambushes in jail.

To be honest, having a team wipe, then all breaking out of prison was kinda fun.

Important safety tip: Never EVER use an airborne travel power on a Mayhem map. Keep your feet on the ground at all times.

The Longbow ambushes show up because there are invisible "trip wire" spots around the map that spawn them. When you approach them, an ambush is created.

These spawns points exist in the air as well. If you fly or superjump over to the bank, you get a ginormous number of flying Longbow spawned, in addition to any others. If you keep your feet on the ground, you don't get the flying spawns.

The trip wire is no lower than the 2nd story of the building - so if you do fly, keep low. But the Longbow eagle trip lines are more plentiful than the normal longbow trip lines.

Well, if you can deal with 7 spawns of Longbow coming into the bank lobby all at once with AoE control powers, then that's fun a fun trap to spring. If you're not prepared for it, it's almost guaranteed death.

There's a ambush trigger point right outside the bank doors and right inside the bank doors, so, rushing to the bank is guaranteed to trigger at least 2 ambushes. The other trigger points can be avoided by flying along the zone ceiling (as high as you can go) or along the zone boundary walls.

Or, you can travel slowly dispatching each ambush as they spawn. The problem with that is that outdoor Longbow ambushes are spread out and not easily controlled and killed as you can when you get them in a narrow hallway or cave. For a large group the best tactic actually is everyone rushing into the bank lobby *together* and popping a few shield inspirations and nailing the ambush as they come through the door. But that requires everyone to know that it's happening and doing it together. If the first person in the zone rushes to the bank before everyone else zones in, they're likely to die having to deal with 7 spawns spawned for a team of 8 by themselves.

And one other thing: Doing mayhems on anything other than the lowest difficulty setting is insanity. Mayhems are harder than ordinary missions. And extra teammates makes it exponentially harder. No pity at all for anyone who keeps their difficulty setting high for a mayhem. None.

Safety note, just using Combat Jumping you may hit one of these tripwires, especially if your leaping off of trucks or cars.

I've had good results having one person rush to the bank, and then teleport everyone using the veteran or temporary team teleport power. Of course, in those cases everyone knew there was going to be a massive ambush and we went all-out with nukes, AoE holds, etc...(It was on PuGs though)
