Viewing Powers in Co-Op Zones

This is just a minor issue. I'm not going to boycott CoX or anything if this doesn't happen, but I would like the ability to view powers of the opposite faction in the Co-Op Zones (Pocket D, Rikti War Zone, Cimerora.) If you really want to make a good co-op team, you need to make sure your team's Heroes and Villains compliment each other's powers well. I don't mind if they stay hidden in the PvP zones, but they should be viewable in co-op play. Again, this is just a minor issue.

to TO THE END!
Villains are those who dedicate their lives to causing mayhem. Villians are people from the planet Villia!

I disagree.

It's no ones business what powers I choose. It's bad enough I have to listen to build-nazis from the same faction tell me with their oh so superior attitudes how I should respec my character because it doesn't fit their pre-concieved notion of the uber-build. Those people get quickly introduced to my ignore list, which is disruptive on a team when they can't ask me for assistance.

The only thing you need to make a good team is teamwork. People that rely on the perfect team composition are usually poor players that need to compensate for their own inability to play effectively.

I'd actually be in favor of a feature that allowed me to block everyone from seeing my powers and badges.

I agree with the argument that you don't need to be able to figure out a player's powersets to build a good team (it helps though, especially if you're pugging), but that's not all it shows. Personally, I find it more useful to be able to figure out which powers a player has taken. There are a number of powers that I simply assume that a character will have such as both of the shields on sonic, thermal, ff, and cold characters. There have been times when the player in question hadn't picked those for that character (and completely boggled my mind). Being able to find out simply by looking at their info rather than outright asking them (which most of the time, they don't know I'm directly referencing them and their power choices if I do) is much easier and less obtrusive.

The only reason I'm against anything like this is that it would mean that players can also look at the power sets and powers of characters of the opposing faction when in PvP. PvP is of minor enough interest to me that I almost never do it, but I also realize that it would open up a whole horrible can of worms concerning build sniping (especially since it shows any IO set bonuses you've got).

As it stands, I've got no problem with where it is. Leaving it be is just fine by me.

It's called "not teaming with anyone".

And I do that whenever I run across those jacktards that insist upon enlightening me with their vast knowledge on how I should be playing my characters because they think I was put on this planet for the sole purpose of keeping them entertained.

Intelligence, determination, skill or creative thinking are all you need to make any team work well. Powers are just tools, it's how you choose to use them that matters, not which tools you have or think you "need".

Additionally, most of the cooperative content tends to be in the higher level ranges, when most builds have fleshed out and handle reasonably well in solo environments against significant enemy forces. Put a handful of those builds together and there's really no reason, as proven time and again by super teams and random pick-up groups, why specific powers are "necessary", much less why any imaginable team would need to be built around "complimentary" powers.

While I disagree with the other post about seeing enhancements - I have to disagree with you on this.

I was, for some reason yet unknown to me, inclined to join a PUG the other day in Striga. They were mid-high 20s, I was on my lvl 21 Scrapper. Another scrapper and a tank. We're fighting vamps.

I notice we get wiped quite frequently. (As in, I've died more in this one mission than I have all the way to 21.) Looking at their powers - one has few attacks, one (the scrapper) - doesn't have their mez protection. At all. SO their battles go Attack - Held - Dead.

We end up with another tank, a Stone tank. So far, I'm keeping my mouth shut, trying to help out with my still-DO level acc. Stone tank has a decent build - armors, a few attacks, mud pots, rooted.

Their attack chain - Run in, get mezzed, die. Dying fast enough it might as well be an Earth controller trying to melee, not a tank. I see them pop on brimstone (!!) armor... same thing. After a few team wipes, because I could see they had it, I sent them a tell - "You know, you won't get mezzed if you have Rooted on." Their reply "Oh, I didn't know it protected against that."

...

The rest of the mission went reasonably smoother after that.

So, yes, looking at builds does, in fact, come in handy. As does, to use your words, "vast knowledge on how (they) should be playing" - like, using your mez protection vs mezzing enemies.

Pug's are exactly where I encounter that certain attitude I hate so much.

However there is a huge difference between publicly <insert word I can't think of> in front of 7 other people on the team or in broadcast, and a private friendly tell giving you a heads up, or asking if you are aware of an effect.

And somehow Bill, I think you fall into the latter category. I doubt anyone would accuse you of acting like a {censored} because someone chose a power you don't like.

I'll also acknowledge that the frequency I run across the former individuals is because I play a lot one of the heavily populated servers. With more people online there's a larger chance to encounter obnoxious people.

I don't have a problem with teammates being able to look at powers. It serves the purpose M_B mentioned and it will quickly reveal a lot of build nazi losers for what they are, which I feel is a good thing.

While I don't practice this, I do feel team leaders can be as discriminating as they want when building their teams. Personally I think it shows a lack of game knowledge, but it is their team.
