EvilGeko's I9 BS/Regen guide: New ways to kill!

Interesting guide, but perhaps you could add your total set bonuses from IO Sets.
[/ QUOTE ]
The reason I didn't do this was because I steadfastly refuse to tell people EXACTLY how to build their character. Like I said in the introduction, there's no way to actually meet all my slotting recommendations.
I really like when guides don't just hand hold someone from 1-50. There should be some choices in there for the player to make. I want to create min-maxers, not FOTM followers.
Give a man a build, and he'll have one good character, teach a man to build and he'll be 1337!

I have always used your guides as just that...guides. Some of your recommendations and my playstyle were at odds int he past, but I found your advice ever usefull.
Now with the advent of IOs, I am once again referring to your guide to see what tweaks I will need to make. Looking at what you have written, lots of tweaking to be done.
Again, thanks for the guide, and all the others you've taken the time to write.

My Characters
as someone who has gotten their BS/Regen to 37 using a mix of my build concepts and yours I have to say this is likely the most solid build guide I have seen in a long time. The fact that you continue to update and refine it just goes towards proving that point.
The only point I really disagree with you on (and I really hope you reconsider your view) is taking slash. I really think at lower lvls slash is very helpful and I can't imagine playing the early lvls without it. I do believe in building with an eye towards using a respec. If only because your needs in the first 25 lvls are very diff from your needs in the last 25. building a hero for me is equal parts of "what do I need now" and What will I need later".
Otherwise thanks again for you wonderful insights into the world of BS/Regen

Linking this here since it's related and people reading this might want to read the other. The discussion about slotting Health can apply to slotting Fast Healing instead of course. I just respeced my Katana/Regen, and decided to try dropping Stamina and taking Health.
I think my plan is instead of 6 slotting Fast Healing, I'll 3 slot both Fast Healing and Health using the 6 IOs you mentioned. Maybe a 4th in the one that gets the Numina set, for +heal.
So I lose the +5% heal set bonus, but still have all the other bonuses from the uniques and so on, but I gain Health's extra regen which is pretty darn nice to have on top of the rest...
I think for most of my powers I need to go Numina over Doctored. It's hard to make up my mind. But +12% regen per power, times 5 powers... that's 60% regen. It sure sounds like a big number.
IO slotting example: Health
[ QUOTE ]
Remember though that my Doc Wounds is giving me a 15% recharge boost from IH, and the heals. Also, I found that too much recharge was breaking up the fluidity of my chain.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm curious, do you use Hasten with your Doctored setup?
One reason I'm leaning more towards Numina for +regen is because I've been away from the game a long time and I still miss Instant Healing as a toggle. I'm trying to recapture that a bit by maxing my Regen as much as I can... I don't have Reconstruction, I use Instant Healing as my emergency heal and rely on passive Regen to keep me alive otherwise.

Honestly, those days are gone. Numina's helps and I do use the set in Health, Fast Healing and Integration for the +regen.
To answer your other question I do use Hasten.

This is a fantastic guide, as well as your others on the subject. Thank you very much for the great tips!
I just hit 18 with my BS/Regen, and this has really helped me out.
I already asked this in a mog thread but I'd like to get EGs opinion and have it on file here with the wonderful guide we have above.... Since its now possible to get quite a large psi/toxic resist and even psi defense does MOG now become a much more useful power for more regens.

The toxic resist on MoG is the same as the other resists. The toxic problem is that there is no such thing as toxic defense so they just leave that as a hole.
As for Psi, honestly, that's not my biggest problem with MoG. It's the three minutes with no healing. MoG should have never been changed to track the I3 changes to Unstoppable. It should have it's own unique duration/recharge and it shouldn't have an ending crash.
If MoG only had it's initial crash and a 60 second duration; 333 second recond recharge I would like it a lot better.

I normally hate to do this, but I shared my build for Kyll in another post and I thought I would reprint it here.
REMEMBER THIS IS JUST WHAT I'M DOING, WHICH INCLUDES SEVERAL CONCEPT CHOICES (Hover, Fly, etc.) THAT I DON'T NECESSARILY RECOMMEND OF OTHERS.

Well, that definitely helps, too! Mine's very similar at 20, but I have CJ/SJ instead. I'm all flown out with my other characters.
Thanks for another excellent update to the series, EG! You've kept my created-way-back-in-I1 regen scrapping for the past 5 issues.
One little suggestion: semicolons to seperate the enhancements in lists would be very helpful.

Numina's Convalescence Heal/End, Numina's Convalescence Heal/Recharge, Numina's Convalescence Heal, Numina's +recovery, +regen, Miracle +recovery, Regenerative Tissue +regen

I had a little trouble figuring out how many enhancements were in that list (been out of game for a while and don't yet know my IOs by heart!)
Thanks again,
Kauket
Not sure if anyone has mentioned this but this is how I'm slotting my attacks on my MA/Regen...
2 Poundings + 4 Makos...
You'll get 8% regen for your secondary and 3% Damage buff for your primary.
Im still an IO newb Geck, so excuse me if this is a dumb question-
On my Spines/Regen toon, I could use IO sets like Devastation on Impale and Scirocco's Dervish on Spine Burst & Quills -which both have a +Regen set bonus to them -and get even higher regen rates than what you're getting there as long as I slot all my secondaries like you have?
Seems to me that would just be a sick amount of Regen Bonus...which is obviously a good thing - Im just trying to grasp if that is possible....?
Ping me at @Psion or Psion2.

Sure so long as you aren't going over 5 bonuses of a particular value (say 5 10% bonuses) you should be cool.
I'm sitting on about 80% or so of the bonuses and it's noticeable.

Heard someone mention in one of the other forums that +800% Regen was the best possible IO build out there for Spines/Regen - which to me seemed like a crazy number. So Im gonna try to play with the sets to see if I can figure out how he's acheiving that number.

REVIVE
Recommended slotting: 1 common recharge IO.
[/ QUOTE ]
I ended up taking Revive as my Level 49 power, and I put all 3 of my Level 50 slots into it. I put 1 Common Healing IO, and 3 Common Endurance Modification IOs in the slots. When I use Revive, I'm brought back with 100% HP and 100% End, and IIRC, I can turn my toggles on while the animation is playing...
I tend to solo a lot, and Revive has helped me quite a few times. Of course, I DO pull the mobs, so that if I fall, I'm all alone, and won't be killed as soon as I use Revive. Except for those few times when the mobs decide to dance on my corpse instead of going back to where I pulled them from...

Biggest Troll on the forums? I'll give you a hint:

Out of curiosity, does anyone know how low you could get the downtime on for IH with IO's allowing you to get Perma-hasten again (or, very near it)? Combining that with a ED-maxed IH and the IO recharge reduction bonuses, would it be possible to get IH on almost all the time?
very helpful.
Silly question but do you have any updated comments for I11?

Not enough for a whole new guide. But my IO recommendations would change if I wrote this today. I would lean more towards recharge bonuses for example.

Thanks EG. So if the +healing improves integration, what about the +regen?
[/ QUOTE ]
OK, I know this is confusing, but the +regen IOs and set bonuses add a regen buff. They are like a separate power.
[/ QUOTE ]
So Integration is a Heal and Fast Healing/Health is a Regen? That seems a little odd to me, I've always assumed Integration was a +Regen. Thanks for the info though, that makes the Improved Heal a little more attractive to shoot for. I wouldn't bother if it was just for Dull Pain.
[/ QUOTE ]
For the purpose of the +heal, they're all heals.
The +regen is a buff to the character's regen rate. The +heals are a buff to the character's healing and regen powers. I realized I wasn't complete in my post above and it's been edited to reflect everything the +heal helps in the Regen set. It also helps Health, but I didn't add that because it's not in the Regen set.

Right, didn't expect you to, just thinking of my build specifically. Now the real fun, does the Improved Heal improve the +Regen from the Enhancement sets? I'd assume so, but I find the quesiton interesting none the less.
Anyway, great guide as always, EG. This has always been one of my favorite guides, simply because it explains the powers well enough that I can plan an informed build without having it handed to me.
