A whisper floated by on a breath of wind.

"It is not. H'taed has taken the device and fled. I do not know where he went, but I am almost certain that he is no longer in the Dimension of Mists."

((Krystell wants to help, but she feels it's best to let the competition get thinned a little bit before she makes her move. For now she will jsut watch the precedings))

((Yay! I'm an unknown benefactor. Just a quick post here to explain how Krystell's power works to prevent confusion.

When she sees a power being used she is able to break down the power into its basic "components". Let's say she had one power, which was to create a hammer of rock. If she saw H'taed make a sword of lightning, she could break that down and create new yet related powers. From the combination of those two she could create a hammer of lightning, a sword of rock, a hammer or rock, or a sword of lightning. Control powers are more general. She has control over most of the elements right now anyway, but there are somethings she cannot influence. If someone used a power to control one of thos things, she would be able to control it by applying the "basics" of a similar element that she can control.))

"Hello there meat-sacks."

Lord H'taed floated in the mists.

Or rather, his head did.

Only it was a mile tall and wide.

And it was a hologram.

"I have fled with the device. And I now give you a choice. Because you are heroes...You will always make the morally right choice. No matter what. But before I present you with said offer...Let me tell you a little secret about this place.

The huge head seemed to drift a little closer, and whispered in a mock hushed voice...

"Lord Diov once created another dimension...It is a giant warehouse, you could say. It contains all the doomsday and world-destroying weapons he's made and never bothered to use. Unfortunately, long ago, one of the said weapons broke free of its suspended animation and caused all hell to break loose. A TINY dimension, plus a whole lot of catastrophically powerful weapons...Not pretty. But anyways, the resulting energies from all the destruction mutated the freed weapon, and it is still trapped...and very pissed..."

"So, here is your CHOICE. I now present you with portal number one!" The next moment, a red portal appeared before them.

"This portal leads to my next location. And now I present you with portal number two!"

With that, another portal opened, and it showed an image...

Of Earth.

And somewhat beyond the moon...

Another portal opened up.

"That portal you see by Earth? That is the portal leading to the doomsday dimension I mentioned previously. The big bad monstrosity is about to come bursting out of it any moment now. Or rather THE monstrositIES."

And with that...

Millions, billions, no TRILLIONS of orbs of red light started to spill out of the portal in the distance. Each was a third of the size of the moon. All these orbs quickly completely obscured the Earth.

"So here's my offer. Choose portal number one, and fight me. Choose portal number two, and save the Earth from being obliterated. I will warn you right now, those orbs you see are just the first wave. It will take more then just one of you to stop all of them."

The giant hologram head paused.

"But then again, who cares about Earth? Never very much liked the place. Too sunny. Plus we all know what's in this box is WAAAAAY more important right? In comparison to billions of human lives, and uncountable animal lives, I'm sure this little thing is WAAAAAAAAAY more vital."

The head chuckled at this.

"Now I am not a patient being. The destruction of Earth will begin in exactly 30 seconds. You get that time to choose which portal you'll be taking. Oh, and I bet you already guessed it, but both portals are one way. No return trips or refunds. You get one choice. Farewell."

And the image of Lord H'taed's head vanished, its laughter echoing throughout the mists.

((I did tell ya it was Earth-Shattering didn't I?))

Krystell jumped up off the ground as she saw the waves of orbs descending towards Earth.

"Oh [censored]! Aoleleb, get every available GoPC Operative on Omega Alert right now! Dimension: Primal Earth!"

"Omega Alert!? Is it really that serious?"

"Yes! God damn it! H'taed's gone too far this time!"

She opened a portal below her and fell into outer space in front of the floating death balls. She charged a beam of elemental energy and blasted about 200 orbs into oblivion, but there were still tons more.

All around her, portals started opening, each one containing a GoPC Operative ready to fight.

As the last portal closed, they all charged, and a titanic battle for the Earth began.

((Yes! I knew having an entire orginization of dimensional peacekeepers behind me would pay off. Hey H'taed, you said it would take more than one of us. How about more than TEN-THOUSAND of us? ))

((Oh, I would say that's...

NOWHERE NEAR ENOUGH.

MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!))

The orbs completely ignored the new enemies and began to fire upon the Earth. Each fired a beam of incinerating dimension instability, with each beam being a little over a mile wide in diameter. Each orb fired around five beams each, times a few trillion...

Still, these beams moved very slowly. They would take a few minutes to impact Earth.

And even worse yet, something new happened.

Out of the portal started to stream PURPLE orbs, but aside from that detail, they were exactly the same as the red orbs.

These orbs all lined up around the red orbs, and projected a gigantic sphereical force field around the entire planet, which was designed to contain the enormous rebound of energy and redirect it back to the source, garunteeing that any left over energy from a planet's destruction could be recycled and reused. However, in this situation, it would also serve as an excelent shield from the GoPC.

Posted

((No, not the GoPC, just the available ones. I have a few billion more where those came from. GoPC is a HUGE orginization, they have to be with an infinite number of dimensions.))

"No....Aoleleb. Call every GoPC operative. I don't care what they're doing, get them here now!"

Portals numbering in the billions opened up around the Earth. There were so many GoPC operative there was one to about every 5 orbs. It would be difficult, but they could do it.

Krystell tapped into the Comm System of everyone who was defending Earth

"I want everyone who can project some kind of defense to try to stop those beams. Anyone who's good at smashing things, come with me."

About half of the assembled operatives flew down toward the Earth. Together they created a field big enough to block every beam, but no one knew for how long.

Everyone else stepped through a portal to get behind the orbs. Beams started flying from every hand and the orbs were dropping like flies. Really big ones. About two million dropped every second. At that rate it would take fifteen minutes to destroy them all.

"Life is hard; it's harder if you're stupid." - John Wayne

Fifteen minutes would not be enough, even with the shielding over Earth. The beams had smacked into the fields, and crunched through them in less then ten seconds.

The GoPC had five minutes max to do this.

Things seemed to go from even bad to worse. The air around the beams was unstable in its self. Dimensional Flux ripped agents apart just by them getting too close.

The purple orbs started to also shoot intense thin strands of energy at agents, disintergrating them on impact.

Alex looked lost in thought.

"Go after him. I have another duty to attend to," Shoshemi said to the wind.

With that Shoshemi went through the portal to Earth. It deposited her back in Peregrine Island. All around her civilians were staring into the sky. There could be seen hundreds upon thousands upon millions of flashes in the sky.

She sat down on a rooftop and began meditating and linking her mind with that of the 3 other Jinzu wearers. They all knew of the iminant danger, and in linking, increased their power ten fold. They began suplementing the GoPC's field, strengthening it, and hopefully letting it hold until they could destroy all of the "things."

"Aoleleb, can you create a new Pocket for yourself? I have an idea."

"Um, yea, I can. Why can't you?"

"Do you have any idea how long I've worked on mine to get it just to my tastes? Just do it!"

All of the GoPC Operative who were maintaining the shield stepped through portals and joined the offense. With tha added power of Shoshemi and the Li Lang monks, it looked like they would be able to destroy the orbs in just under five minutes.

Krystell broke away from the group and flew toward the Earth. Calling on all the power she had, she opened a spherical portal around the Earth to Aoleleb's now empty Pocket. When the beams hit the portal they went into the infinite expanse of the pocket dimension.

At first it seemed to be working...

Until the dimensional instabilities tore right through the infinite pocket dimension. The red orbs wern't just a pretty fireworks display, they were also sentient. They knew how to get a job done. They just manipulated the beams to shift in place of space and time. Poof, the beams were back on course.

And worse yet...

Green orbs began to spill out of the portal now. They all quickly zipped to the fallen remains of the red orbs...

And brought them back with an injection of power to their dying cores.

These green orbs started bringing back the red ones at a pace of a million a second. While this wouldn't stop the GoPC, it garunteed the Earth's destruction.

With just a minute to go, the beams had begun to enter the Earth's atmosphere.

(( I do have one final trick up my sleeve. I want to be the one who saves the Earth.))

Krystell knew the beams would hit within a minute, but there was one more thing she hadn't tried yet.

She opened a new portal, but this one wasn't around the Earth or even next to it. She had opened a portal INSIDE the Earth's core. The entire planet and everything on it was sucked in to the portal. If you had looked to Krystell's right, you would have seen Earth sitting outside the huge sphere of deadly orbs. SHe had teleported it about two days into it's orbit, putting it safely out of harm's way. ((As an interesting side note, Krystell effectively destroyed two days on Earth with this trick.))

The beams were about to converge on the point where she had opened the portal. She closed it and every GoPC Operative hopped into their own Pocket to watch what would happen. When those beams collided, it was wasn't going to be pretty.

The beams slowly converged into a single point...

In the next moment, everyone watching was blinded by pure white light. Nobody could see what was happening at all. And considering noise couldn't travel through space...Well, they couldn't hear much of anything either.

When the light faded the orbs were still there. Only the purple shield was gone, and most if not all the red orbs had been fully risen and healed. But then they all faded away as if they had never existed.

Krystell had saved the Earth.

But unforunately, she had pretty much destroyed it as well.

What happens when you ride in a car, and you hear and feel that big WHOOSH as air flows past you? The reason it does that is to fill the space the car had previously occupied.

Same deal here.

The previously filled space was now completely empty. Reality did not like this for some wacked out reason, and began rushing in to fix everything.

In the form of a giant gravity well. It started to suck everything in...

The moon started to shift in orbit...

and then the Earth ceased to orbit and it also started to reverse in direction as it was oulled steadily towards the gravity vortex.

((Wait a minute, there is nothing in space. If you were to go out beyond the atmosphere, there would be nothing there, at all. A gravity well wouldn't form to be "rushing in to fix everything" or however you put it because there's nothing to put there.))

((I'll step in to stop that. Even in the least dense of areas in space there is one particle of -something- to every 100 million parts space. Yes, especially in a heavily populated area, things would go rushing in there.

HOWEVER! The Earth would not stop spinning. It is in motion at all times from its rotation around the sun and its formation however long ago. Once it started spinning, it wouldn't stop unless something physically happened, either a large enough explosion or something crashing into the planet, that had enough force to reverse the spin. Considering that in the amount of life scientists claim that the Earth has lived, something like 4 known "space debris," large ones, have hit the surface, as well as our nuclear testing and such, it would take one HELL of a force to stop the Earth's spinning. In fact, a force that large would probably stop it spinning only because there isn't anything left to spin. The Earth would have been blown to bits in the process.

Don't get ahead of me :P The same applies to space. Long story short, some force that could stop and reverse the orbit of a planet around the Sun would destroy it in the process.

Also, gravity doesn't form wells like that. Black holes (which is what you're describing) are formed by massive amounts of matter forming together at such a dense percentage that essentially something the size of a speck of dust could cause a higher gravity pull than a good thousand of our suns. And that's a SMALL one. Scientists theorize that there's a black hole in the enter of every galaxy that, if not for the extreme speed that everything is travelling around it, would pull everything in.

Ok, I'll stop. Just don't get me started on spacial and universal physics <.< I'm a total and complete nerd for them. Long story short, that wouldn't happen. There would be a bit of a jerk at most, you might go ahead about 10 to 20 minutes day to time wise (so the sun would set a bit earlier), and you would be missing the moon, so the tides would dissapear. The moon can be repaired once Alex has time to do it, if the GoPC doesn't get to it first.))

Alex took the portal to H'taed with barely a nod, knowing what would be expected on the other side. It wouldn't be pretty.

Unknown Dimension

-----

Alex stood in a hallway.

It was endlessly long in both directions, ten feet wide and tall. The whole thing was made of a silvery metal, and along the walls were endless lines of doors made of the same. Many of the doors had labels...

"Stress Impact Room"

"Barraks number 2367"

"Cordination Chamber"

"Security Pod 34987"

"I-Pod Mind Control"

"Heaven"

"Hell"

"Alternate Time-Tracks, 1-24"

"Associated Methods"

"Mad Triple Room"

"Elevator"

"Swiss Cheese Manufacturing"

"Dimensional Furnace"

These doors stretched on endless down the infinitely vast hallway. A plaque against the wall caught Alex's attention...

"Husk Corporation. Terra Related Doors."

Suddenly, in the hallway, a hologram of a man in a toga appeared.

"Greetings. My name is Noitpeced, official A.I. for Lord Diov. Welcome to Husk Corporation, how may I serve you today?"

((That'd be sweet Thunder, my brother almost went that route, but decided on partical/nuclear physics instead XD And as a 4th year biotech/electrical engineering student it's nice to find people that know their stuff. And now, back to that action...)

And the next morning, people will wake up and think their clocks are off, as they would be the only thing to know the earth had jumped 2 days ahead. So yes, for once in the millions of years the earth has been here, the year will only be 363 days.

As for Shoshemi, she knew, but the concequences of it didn't matter. Still sitting, she let her mind wander, searching for the Council. Soon enough, an astral version of herself was standing on the same rock that Alex had ealier. The Council appeared, some with perplexed looks on thier faces.

"What do you do here," asked the former Keeper, Syne.

"I'm looking for the current Keeper. Her task is my task, so I wish to help her."

"Ahh. So the Li Long have stepped in?" Syne raised one eyebrow.

"Not so much as my Order, but me. We are all charged with defense of the Secret, and this is the newest threat. The 'device' is a stain on our dimension and any dimension it crosses."

The members of the Council looked at each other, some nodded, others with slight smirks on their faces.

"Very well." Syne raised her hand and another landmass came and merged with the one on which they were standing. On the newest addition there could be seen a portal, through which Shoshemi could see Alex step out of a portal.

"Through there is that which you seek. Be wary, as the danger is great."

Shoshemi thanked them and started for the portal. She doubted she'd every be able to find that place again. As her astral body stepped through, her physical one disappeared, reappearing beside Alex in time to see Noitpeced.

Alex was focussed on Noitpeced, but not speaking to him.

"I assume the Earth has survived? I would hate having to rebuild it. You have no idea how much time that would waste. Especially those fjords..."

Through all the current events, her "professional" attitude was starting to wane. More and more she was acting like herself...rather, like she used to be. That was apparent both in the way she spoke, and the way she just stared blankly at Noitpeced.

"Husk Corporation?"

As the GoPC operatives went back to what they were doing before they were called to defend Earth, Krystell took a tenative peek outside her portal. The Earth was safe, although alot of peoples' clocks would be off now. The moon was flying about crazily, as it was too far from the Earth to be orbiting around it. Stretching out a hand, Krystell moved the moon back toward the Earth and sent it back into it's orbit.

She stepped back into her Pocket and opened a scrying portal to see where Alex had gone. She found them after a few seconds, just in time to see Noitpiced.

Noitpeced frowned for a moment.

"Please excuse me for a moment young one..." He muttered.

-----

As Krystell stared through her little viewing window...

Suddenly a haze of static washed over it.

And another...

Until soon the entire scrying portal had been completely fuzzed out.

Red letters slowly faded into view on the screen.

"We Regret to Inform You..."

-----

Noitpeced suddenly smiled, and refocused his attention on Alex.

"My dear girl, which Earth do you speak of? For here in Husk Corporation, we have access to all 942,386,793,209,385,603,265,023,526,235,087,650,67 1,833 of them. You'll have to be a tad more specific about which Earth you want to know about.

The hologram smiled.
