Then I must ask, why not make up new names? Based on the few screenshots I have seen, the The Tuatha De Dannann (spelling difference) were not monsters but men and women. Nuada of the Silver Hand, Lugh, Dagda? This seems to have been totaly ignored. I would rather you make up new mythologies and names rather than take very broad poetic license with existing mythologies.
These names and people do conotate certain expectations in people's minds and you risk alienating those folks because of playing fast and loose with people's histories and cultures.

3 little words will solve this issue right away:
IT'S
A <---(technically not a word, its a letter but in this situtation it IS a word)
GAME
[/ QUOTE ]A when used in that context is an adjective, therefore a real word.
Anyway,
*big breath*
DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!

That too, but it is still four words. It's is a contraction of it and is.
(( counts on her fingers ))
yes. four words

We have actually been addressing the Tuatha De Dannan subject here.

I'm fairly sure North America (And I suppose Canada from the maps they showed at the time) didn't fight off an invasion of Snow-man like creatures recently...
(Or maybe the Canadians did... damn PLed hockey players!)
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah. We did.
And we won in double-overtime after it was tied 3-3 in the 3rd period.
[ QUOTE ]
Well, you beat me to it.
Yes. Speaking as a North Carolinian, I find it even more intriguing to wake-up today and find, suddenly and arbitrarily, that an entire island of our state and a primary faction of our history has not only been revised out of our territorial waters, but also *oh the shame of it* ceded to, of all places, Virginia.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, I admit not having studied the article in detail, but I got the impression that the inhabitants of the new zone were abducted there. So, the original colony may have been in North Carolina, but the descendants are showing up in Paragon City because that is where their alternate dimension is manifesting itself?
Nadira
(p.s. I still think the mythology is a bit weird. I mean, Red Caps orchestrating the whole thing? They were a joke in the myths. Admittedly a bad and dangerous joke, but compared to the Firbolg and especially the Tuatha ...)
(p.p.s. Nothing to say here but according to Bo Bindel I need two post scriptums, never one)
[ QUOTE ]
Totally!
I looked on my map today, and do you know what I found out? There IS no Paragon City in Rhode Island!
And then, when I told my history professor about the Nazi Invasion of America during WWII, the whole class laughed at me!
I think a certain gamemaker has been telling fibs!

Now Braveheart... There's some historical innacuracies for you!)
[/ QUOTE ]
What the HELL are you talking about??!?!?! That was a DOCUMENTARY. Brilliantly done. Verbatim about what happened. I can't believe they found actual video footage of all of that in such great detail.
I just wish the guy documenting all of this would have helped out once in awhile...but I guess if he was a true historian, he didn't want to alter any outcomes.
[/ QUOTE ]
ARRRGHHH...
That film drives me nuts, especially when whoever I'm playing with, when they find out Im Scottish, immediately says, "I liked Braveheart".
NNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOo....
I live not 100 yards from Stirling Bridge, where was the bridge in the film... WHERE WAS THE HUGE SWAMP IN THE FILM!!!
<pant, pant, pant>
Sorry, but gah!
Anyway back on topic...

I can sympathize. I grew up in Fargo, ND and now like about an hour away in Jamestown ND. Anytime I mention that fact, I get the response "I loved the movie Fargo!" Man does that piss me off. First, the movie was filmed mostly in Minnesota about 3 hours from Fargo, and secondly, no we don't talk like that. People from tiny little farming communities have a tendency to speak like that at times, but for the most part we speak pretty normally.
[/ QUOTE ]
Man...they have the interent in ND?

Actually I wrote that a week ago in preperation and then used the Pony Express to send the letter to a friend on mine who does have the internet and he posted it.

The hell you don't. :P
Cracks me up everytime I have to talk to anyone from anywhere near that area, or Wisconsin, or Minnesota.
Dontcha know.
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh, there are definately a few, but it's not as common as many people think. I have never heard someone from a "city" like Fargo say something like "dontcha know" or "you betcha" I do know that Wisconsin is pretty bad, and the more rural you get, the worse it is.

OK, then, this is for you.
Joe (voice-over): 11:45am, it happened. I saw a little girl in a blue hood
carrying a basket. I stopped to question her.
Joe: Pardon me, ma'am, could I talk to you for just a minute, ma'am?
Little Blue: What about?
Joe: Nothing much, ma'am. Just wanna' ask you a few questions, ma'am.
What's your name?
Little Blue: Little Blue Riding Hood.
Joe: Where ya' going, ma'am?
Little Blue: Grandma's house.
Joe: Yes, ma'am. Whad'ya got in the basket?
Little Blue (defensively): Whad'ya trying to say, I got something in the
basket I shouldn't have?
Joe: No, ma'am, I didn't say that.
Little Blue: Then whad'ya asking me all these questions for?
Joe: Just routine, ma'am, we just wanna' get the facts. May I have a look
in that basket, ma'am?
Little Blue: Be my guest.
Joe: Let's see. Sawed-off shotgun. Knife. Bludgeon. Box of dumdum
shells. Nothing suspicious here. All right, ma'am, we may want to talk to
you later, so don't leave the woods.
>dramatic music<
Joe (voice-over): She skipped on down the path. But she didn't know I'd
seen the concealed compartment in the basket. In it, what I'd suspected all
along - goodies.
