No Constance dont he might be a villain. Unix had keep quite since the first noise but now things were spinning out of control there were two new voices neither of which she trusted at the moment. Shadows for every corner fed the dark mist as Unix added her power to Cocottes in an attempt to give Constance some time to re-think her actions. The dark mist easily doubled in size Unix took a few steps to the left in case one of the unknown people decided to shoot at the sound of her voice. If either of you hurt Canis lupus familiaris or her I can assure you that you wont leave this building alive Unix now moved again to assure that her position remained a secret. In reality Unix had no idea what se would do if they hurt Constance or the dog. She was quite scared at this point and figured that they knew as little about her as she knew about them.

People were shouting. The black murky stuff he had been pulled out off (much to his relief) suddenly engulfed him again and the nice silent girl.
In fear Sam started barking again and pulled to get free.

Two thoughts went through Cocotte's head, one right after the other. The first was that this girl, Steel Pixie, had most certainly read the latest version of the Guide to Being a Hero in Paragon City, and decided to do the exact opposite of what it said, just to be difficult. The second was just a flash, and had no real bearing on the situation at all, but couldn't be helped. T.A.T.U.?? I remember them, they're hot.
Just as he thought things couldn't get any worse, they somehow managed to do so with the "help" of Unix. Cocotte sensed her sliding away from him and activating her powers as well.

With a mental groan, Cocotte prepared himself for what would come next. Listening carefully, he tried to tune out the immediate conversation. There was no way the other Hellions n the building could not miss what was going on here.

Constance wasn't quite sure what to do... this was her first day in Paragon City, as well as her first day as a registered hero. She hadn't even had time to read the guidebook yet, just browse through it on the train!
The voice ahead of her didn't sound like a villain, not even deranged... deranged would be Unix.
She released the dog's collar and concentrated, listening and waiting.

With that Unix knew that Steel Pixie was not a villain. Pixies over idealistic rhetoric would never come from any villain. No villain would ever think that way even if they were trying to gain false trust of a hero. Unix didnt like killing anyone but had long ago come to terms with the fact that in some cases it was necessary. Unix heard Sam barking and figured it was only a matter of time before someone started shooting at the sound. Alright, we got Dorothy, Toto, and a loonie O'Neill thought.
Without consideration the pattern of finger movements that would flood the corridor with radiation sprang to mind.
Nah, Toto would be toast for sure, never mind Dorothy
O'Neill flicked his chin impatiently, and listened as Nolan's voice told him....
"Aural indications give 3 solid contacts in the vicinity, and probably 1 plus more..."
"Radiation emissions give CLUSTER 1 of living beings nearby, X +10, Y +0, Z +5.5. CLUSTER 2, indeterminate size, X +30.5, Y + 17, Z +10.7. CLUSTER 2 is in in motion, range decreasing"
Oh, THATS TROUBLE
O'Neill glanced toward the stairs, then turned back just as half the mist in the corridor dissipated... revealing a border collie and 3 women, one crouched against the wall, one in motion, and youngest one looking slightly surprised.
The collie's my 10 o'clock... if this is just a rescue so he doesn't get spayed, I'm gonna murder them
O'Neill looked for a moment, then made a judgment
"Look out you lot, they're headed for the stairs down" he snapped over the external speakers as he twisted toward the stairs, ignoring the people to his left.
"And get the collie out of the way, I'm a vet, not a miracle worker"
The whining as the X-ray emitters reached discharge power failed to drown either the suits hissing and groaning, or the crescendo of Handel's firework music.
O'Neill gave a wry grin
Oh well, I'll figure out how to turn it off later.... there are worse things I could be listening too.. Tatu is probably one of them, hope I get to find out
((btw I've not done this before, so please excuse any errors in protocol))

Constance nodded, giving a thumbs up. She grabbed Sam's collar, with an apologetic frown, and dragged him toward the cages, hoping to get him out of the line of fire before battle was engaged.

Sam put up some resistance to being put back in the cage but he could also feel the tension in the air. When the cage door was closed he looked up at Constance with his puppy dog eyes and whimpered. He reached up with a paw and touched the lock of the door, lightly clawing at it.

Steel Pixie put her hands up near her head, apparently trying to shade her eyes from the sudden light, and cover her ears to block out the blaring music.
"So much for surprise." she murmured with a wry grin, and stepped away from the wall and into a flanking position for the man in the creaky armor.
"I hit people and get beaten up alot, what do you do?" she asked.
What's with the music, everyone in the building is going to hear it...
In lieu of speaking, since she couldn't, Constance executed a spinning kick, landing softly back into the position in which she'd begun.

O'Neill snorted. "I'm a vet, and I get beaten up lot too. The suit plays silly games with radiation...."
He could see that 2 of the women had taken up fighting stances nearby, and had lost sight of the other...
Who is probably the loonie. I can expect a fist in the back of my head any second now. Oh well... what I need to do is examine these two with a med lab for 2 days before I do this, but I cannot do that, so we'll just hope they'll be alright. ..
"This may feel a little odd" O'Neill said as he trigged a subset of the suit's emitters. Immediately he, and those nearby, felt a rush of strength, and time seemed to dilate as a cascade of radiation stimulated them to high levels.
"They'll hit the top of the stairs.. now" O'Neill growled. As the first familiarly dressed ganger appeared, he perforated him with hard x-rays, and the second with a set of darts that released a noxious green and red cloud.
that gas mightn't do them much good either.. oh well, can't tell 'em to hold their breath
As the rest of the Hellions poured down the stairway, battle was joined; the corridor glowed green with an eerie light, and the air grew thick with gas as O'Niell tripped the suits offensive systems... and the Handel thundered on.

Unix thought so this is what Custer felt like. Unix stuck her right arm out and made a upward motion with her hand with this all the shadows leap from their respective places and wrapped themselves around feet of the hellions. The hellion advance immediately slowed to crawl. Unix then closed her open hand into a fist and the shadows jumped up to engulf the crowd of hellions. The shadows quickly settled into a knee high turbulent sea of darkness all around the hellions but they left a residue on every hellion they touched.
Unix stood briefly transfixed as what looked to be a sea of flashbulbs went off in front of her. The horrible reality soon became real to Unix as she heard the high pitched zing noise of a bullet plowing air out of its way as it past close by. The next noise she heard was the deafening sound of gunfire as bounced off every wall in the confined hallway. Unix flinched expecting to be ripped to pieces by the oncoming bullets but felt relief a millisecond later as she was still standing.
Unix snapped out of her trance and formed a pitch black disk in her hand a tossed into the center of the hellions. It erupted into a large cylinder that engulfed a number of hellions. The cylinder quickly dissipated revealing a number of near blind hellions stumbling around as if they were drunk. Unix fired off a dark bolt not really aiming she figured it would hit some thing. Unix readied her next bolt and became aware of a warm wet sensation working its way down her left lower leg. Unix didnt have time to look she just pressed on.
Out of nowhere, the violence started. The "vet" as he called himself suddenly turned and fired some radiation at the group. While Cocotte was certain that this vet didn't know exactly where he was hidden, he sudenly felt stronger, and things seemed to slow down and he became almost hyper-aware of his surroundings.
With a quick warning to the group, the suit of armor turned towards the stairwell and fired off a couple of darts. Some funky green and red gases started billowing out of the stairwell as steps could be heard pounding on the floor above them.
Cocotte felt Unix pulling on the same source of darkness that he normally did as the hellions poured out of the stairwell like a flood of rats. Bullets flew, ripping through the air and hitting the walls with a crack and a thud. The hellions seemed to be focussing on Unix and the vet.

Cocotte stood back, stunned at the sudden violence.
Let's see. We've got some sort of freaky Robo-vet who I think has watched Apocolypse Now one too many times. Some sort of mutt who really doesn't like being hidden or in that cage. Unix, who I don't think has ever seen a dog in real life before, and some quiet chick who moves like greased lightening and another who likes cheesy teenage music groups. And me, a clumsy hero who can't even talk his way out of a car with an 80 year old grandmother. We're practically the poster children for Bad Groups Anonymous. Oh well, let's get this thing started.
Cocotte heard the bullets pinging off Robovet's armor, some of them coming far too close for comfort. He also saw Unix stumble, and saw a dark red patch blossom on her calf as she drew up and readied her next bolt.
Oh well, if I wanted to stay safe, I woulda become an accountant.
Leaving the cloaking darkness behind, Cocotte jumped into the frey and pulled both Steel Pixie and the quiet girl out of the way of a shotgun blast, grunting as a couple of the pellets ripped into his back.
Turning, he focussed on one of the hellions and reached out, twisting as he did. Feeling the energy of the hellion coming towards him, he twisted once again and distributed the energy out to those around him. With a chill, he could feel some of the pain from the pellets disappear.
Tumbling to the side, he fired a bolt at the closest hellion, watching as his head went back and his mouth opened in a silent scream of pain for several seconds. Reaching inside, he twisted and allowed the cloud to emmenate from him and swirl around the feet and bodies of his teammates, making it more difficult for the Hellions to see them.
Rising from his knees with a groan, he shifted quickly backwards and further to the side, hoping that he hadn't drawn too much attention to himself. He noticed that one of the Hellions, possibly the one that he had attacked earlier, had moved towards him. With a quick punch and a touch of darkness, the Hellion crumpled to the ground. A quick kick to the back of the head ensured that he would not be getting back up any time soon.
Crouching down, Cocotte looked around and saw
Battle was enjoined.
Drawing upon the pool of calm within herself, the result of years of training and endless hours of meditation, Constance moved to meet it with even breaths and movements like well oiled clockworks.
Close combat, with many foes, favored the lone warrior. Large numbers often worked against combatants, especially if did not practice as a group. While this was a strike against the Hellions, the same could be said for her own little thrown-together group of misfits.
Bullets, lots of them, ricochets and otherwise streamed through the air. She'd practiced dodging arrows... one, two, three at a time.
Not bullets. Not THIS MANY bullets. No matter how she moved, even had her maneuvering been perfect, could she evade them all. So like punches, she rolled with them, moving in time with what she could... and blocking out the pain with iron will.
Blood blossomed like tulips on her shirt, jeans, dripping into her shoes. No one wound serious, but many....
She would not fail, she did not falter. She could not, so long as one opponent remained standing. Such was her training, and such were her Order.

O'Neill grimaced as his suit shuddered under bullet impacts, and he answered them with a burst of neutrinos that made one of the hellions stagger.
The gas is working he thought, as he thought as he watched lesions open on the faces of the exposed hellions always charming to see
He was slightly surprised when the bulk of the hellions turned their attention from him, and toward the others. Some sort of black stuff was being thrown around, and hellions were faltering.. as were some of the vitals in his left peripheral vision.
which one.. the quiet girl with the dog .. ok
O'Neill moved a little closer. A close range shotgun blast knocked him down, splitting his lip, and causing more minor cuts and bruises. He staggered upright.
If blood gets into the breaker box again, Ryan will kill me.. she said so ... Probably close enough
O'Neill clenched his left hand, and more servos clicked, and the suit juddered as he and his companions were sleeted with more radiation. He felt the cut on his lip close..
Probably taking years off their life expectancy.... which at this stage should be measured in minutes
The mass of hellions was focused on the cluster of people to his left... he could now see another woman, in addition to the first 2, and another figure was visible too.. male probably.
Lets distract them a bit, and they can get organised
"Duck, you lot" he yelled, as a hellion fell, a small heel in his face illuminated by an x-ray laser strike.
O'Neill gave them a second, then flicked open a whole group of breakers. a violent explosion ripped through those nearby. He saw a couple of hellions fall.
alright, that got their attention, now what am I going to do
Steel Pixie bounded up and through the Hellions, feeling the gunshots punching through her torso and limbs. The surge of strength the radation gave her was unexpected, and she actually bypassed all the Hellions and spanged off the wall behind them.
Turning quicky, she stepped up behind one with a shotgun - a kick to the kidneys, a kick to the back of the skull, and a final kick aimed center torso flung him across the room unconscious.
She advanced on the next Hellion. As she walked, there was a quiet tink, tink as bullets were pushed out of her closing wounds.

Constance dropped flat to the floor, spread eagled, balancing on her fingertips and toes. A roil of heat and tumult washed over her back, tossing her hair.
That had been close... and effective, she saw as she looked up. Very effective.
With a springing motion, she snapped back up, leading with one foot into the nearest remaining Hellion, sending him flying backwards and skidding across the floor.
One more down.

Unix calmed herself she could not afford to just waste shots. Unix took care and aimed the rest of her shots as the hellions approached. Each time a blot left her gauntlet a hellion fell. Unix started to count the hits one, two, three, four, and bleep. Unix knew what the bleep was it was the temperature safety stopping the circuit from overheating. Its all or nothing Unix said to her self as she disabled the safety. The bolts departed her gauntlet much quicker now and she lost count.
As the hellions came closer Unix could see that they were weaker than before the green mist must be working. This might work she mumbled to herself. Then the sea of hellions parted as a dammed entered the battle. Just like a cheap B movie Unix thought. Much to her surprise the dammed eyed her and began to run right to her. She blasted it but the bolt just seemed to disappear into the body of the dammed. Then a bright flash filled the room as an X-ray beam sliced into the mass hellions. The dammed changed its intended target and began to head toward the robo-vet. Unix saw the back of the dammed and figured a more opportune target was unlikely to come around. Unix unloaded every bolt the gauntlet could generate into the back of the dammeds head. It stumbled but did not go down. Unix jumped up and punched it. The dammed fell like a ton of bricks.
Unix landed and saw Constance fighting. Her body was covered with blood and holes Unix wondered how she was still alive and decided to aid her. Unix ducked as a baseball bat barely missed her head. You will do Unix announced to the hellion the that had just tried to decapitate her. With that she channeled darkness into his body draining the very life out of him and channeling it to Constance and Steelpixie. The hellion groaned then took another swing at Unix with his bat. This time is was noticeable slower and missed again. At the end of his stroke the hellion was so close to Unix that she could feel his body heat. Unix punched him figuring it worked on a dammed. This time the punch just made the hellion simile as he punched Unix back much harder. That didnt work near as well as it does in the movies Unix said aloud as recovered from the shock of the punch and downed the hellion with a bolt from her gauntlet.
Unix felt herself being thrown to the floor. A hellion straddled over her and pointed his revolver at her chest. Unix tried to raise the arm to blast him but soon realized that both of her arms were held to the ground by two other hellions. Unix felt a burning sensation like someone had driven a red hot steel pole deep into her chest. Unix looked back at the revolver just in time to see the cylinder rotate again. Another red hot pole jabbed deep into her chest. Unixs eyes widen in terror as the process repeated itself four more times (six shots in total) before the revolver clicked announcing to the world that it was out of bullets. Unixs vision narrowed to a tunnel. The hellion tossed the revolver and pulled a knife. Unix struggled to keep the shadows fighting for her as she felt herself get weak must not drop shadows or team is thru Unix thought to her self
In the center of her narrow tunnel of vision Unix saw Sam behind the bars of a cage. Unix knew the that the dog was her only hope. Unix stared at the dog with a look of utter helplessness trying to convey her condition to the dog. A wall of shadows attacked the cage and rattled it back and forth but they where not strong enough to break it. Then they plunged into the lock on the cage door. Cracking sounds could be heard as the shadows wrecked the delicate mechanisms inside the lock. The cage door sprung open. Please Lupis help Unixs uttered right before receiving a slap across the face from the hellion bending over her with a knife. Look at me! I have never slaughtered a hero before and I want to see the look on your face. The hellion growled to her as he pressed the knife against her throat.

The only warning the Hellion got was a low growling from behind. Then suddenly he felt jaws clamp around his wrist and yank it back as Sam bit into him hard. It was not the playful bite of a young dog exploring the world with its mouth. It was the kind of bit intended to draw blood.
The Hellion panicked as Sam shook his he violently back and forth, still holding on to the wrist. The knife was dropped and skidded across the floor harmlessly. Sam could still be heard growling even though he had Helions wrist in his mouth.
"Get it off me. Get this dam thing off me." The Helion shouted as it started to punch Sam in the face.
Sam's reaction was to just bite harder and start to pull. There was only so long he could hold on but at least he could by the heroes sometime and do some damage. He was not going to let go.
Constance saw Unix go down, front covered with blood and her face etched with pain. The Hellion advancing on her bore a knife... and an evil leer.
Grabbing the Hellion she was in melee with, she twisted her fists into his jacket, using him as a springboard. Her feet caught the knife-bearing Hellion square in the face, sending him thumping to the floor. He did not get up.
Nearby, a dog was barking.

Steel Pixie stepped up to an axe wielding hellion and popped him in the nose with her fist. In return, he swung the axe at her with a viscious two-handed swipe.
Pix cried out in pain as the axe made a meaty thunk against her shoulder. Gritting her teeth, she did a front-flip over the hellion and kicked him in the back of the head. Before he could turn, she slammed him one more time with her dainty boot -- sending him flying across the room to crash into the the kennel cages.
The force of his landing deformed the door, breaking the lock.

The noise in the room got even louder, if that was possible. The kenneled dogs, which were already barking and yelping, went absolutely bananas as the hellion slammed into the cage. Sliding down the front of the cage, he slumped into a pile on the floor, barely resting against the cage door. The dog that was inside the cage, a large German Shepherd Dog, knew what it liked and didn't like. It knew that it didn't like this lump in front of it's cage and started throwing itself against the door. Each time pushing the Hellion a bit farther away from the door and cracking the cage open a llittle bit.
Cocotte stared around, looking for a way to help. He say Steel Pixie looking around for her next victim, with one arm hanging limply at her side. Noticing the blood starting to coat the front of her outfit, he bent over and started going through the pockets of the closest body. He dumped out a pocket full of shot gun shells, candy bar wrappers and matches. ah-ha!!! Found them.
He pulled out a bunch of pills, green ones, yellow ones and red ones. Yelling to Steel Pixie, he threw her a couple of them. Here, these should help.
Reaching out his hand and twisting, he again made the floor ooze darkness. It chilled the souls of the hellions and, with a shudder, they slowed down.
Looking around, he saw a hellion lining up for a point-blank shotgun blast at Robo-vet. Twisting again, he opened a direct conduit into another dimension and pulled the shotgun wielding fool towards him. With a flash, the hellion appeared, and was not happy at having wasted the pellets on a wall. Turning towards Cocotte, he swung up the butt of the shotgun and nailed him in the chin.
With a thud, Cocotte flipped backwards, landing on his head and shoulders before rolling too his stomach. Getting to his feet, Cocotte weaved a bit, side to side, trying to connect with the Hellion, but missing by quite a bit. With an evil-sounding ka-chunk and a vicious-looking grin, the Hellion re-loaded his shotgun.
