The quickest way in Mids to cap S/L defense is to slot Kinetic Combats in your melee attacks. In reality though it can take a really long time to gather a full set of Kinetic Combats. On my EM/EA I slotted Smashing Haymaker in my melee attacks and when I finally acquire a full set of Kinetic Combats I just slot them over the Haymakers.
Haymakers grant 1.88 where as Kinetics offer 3.75 to s/l defense. IIRC -

It's rain made out of fire.
RoF is a great soft control in the early game. Way back in the day, when everyone did the Hollows, which meant everyone was doing Frostfire, I took RoF cause I new I could keep teams alive at a certain point in that mission. You come around a corner and the hallway goes forward and then heads to the left, there's a door to a room at the point where that hallway cuts to the left. There's a mob in that room and a mob between you and the that room.
Nowadays people have learned and generally pull the first mob, but back then people would rush the first mob and get wiped by the second mob pouring out of the room. RoF if dropped in that doorway would force the second mob to scatter to the back of that room and leave the team alone for the duration of RoF.
One of the other things I liked about RoF, was if you're going to use it as a control power it doesn't require alot of slots. This all took place back when I was 6 slotting stamina and hasten. So having a power that only required the default slot, filled with a recharge, was a great bargin.
The higher in level you get the less need there is for the kind of soft control RoF offers , and since it's not really a power you can spam every time it's recharged you can't take it too early or your attack chain and DPS is gonna suffer. -
Only /fire toon I have is sonic/fire so I don't have any advice or an opinion on HOt Feet since I skipped it. FSC and combustion have got some funky animation times. FSC delivers its damage very quickly but there's this pause at the end of the power when you can't do any thing (I'm very happy to say the pause isn't as bad a couple years ago). Combustion is the total opposite, you fire it off, do this real long animation and then you deal the damage.
With my sonic/fire my favorite tactic is to shockwave a mob(plural) into a corner, howl, sleep them, jump into the middle hitting Aim, Bu on the way in, fire off combustion
during the combustion animation you get to play the "when during this animation are they going to wake up. Most of the times it towards the end of the animation, I say most because it sure isn't always.
and then fire off FSC. Going Combustion then FSC lets you cluster the damage closer together, using them in opposite order spreads that damage out. -
how did we know 375 million wasn't the highest bid at the time.
sounds like Panzer dodged a bullet either way. -
Quote:That base shot is insane. The way you've got the "spires" from the floor and the ceiling intersecting like that is rather stunning. Might have to make some upgrades to my baseThe Ethereals are on an "Organic Spaceship"... we go anywhere, we are usually on stealth mode hovering above Russia.
My base happens to be located on the top floor of the VG registrar's office in Port Oakes. It's a convenient location when rent time rolls around. -
Quote:The easiest way is to set up a separate tab and monitor either the Healing Received or Healing Delivered channel. Someone should be around shortly to verify which one. I never can remember which one it is since it doesn't make sense to me that proc damage is happening in a heal channel.Hello, all!
How can I tell if a Proc is going off? I have Scirocco's Dervish: Chance for Lethal Damage, and I'd like to know when my 20% pays off.
Thanks in advance!
There is also this awsome program called Herostats that corralates all this data while you play. After play sessions you can go back and datamine for how much proc damage you've done. -

Quote:People said this years before Sunstorm got his redname. Take it up with people.Incorrect. Muon_Neutrino posted Sunstorm's bit on the overlapping of the dark powers.

Also incorrect. Corruptors started CoV with the Kinetics set , which much like TA, doesn't actually fit into a pigeon-holed this is a "something" set.
Quote:
Again, if you accept the over-arching theory that corruptors secondaries are based on debuffing enemies, Trick Arrow is one of the most versatile debuff sets available. If you accept the over-arching theory that the mastermind secondaries were based on protecting pets, again, Trick arrow fits the bill as it has some powerful soft and hard control features. Trick Arrow features pretty much every debuff that's available in the game, even a regeneration and recovery debuff if you take EMP Arrow.
/me shoots je_saist for 202 points of healing damage.
Quote:So, I'm not sure why you say that Corruptors should get Force Field based on Corruptors getting Trick Arrow. From what we know from the developers, Cold Domination "was" the Corruptor answer to Force Field.
Quote:Remember: Illusion Control was the genesis of what eventually became the Mastermind set. It was stated pretty explicitly a few years back that the Illusion Set was close to a MasterMind as Heroes were going to get.
Now, yes, that is changing with Going Rogue. Existing Masterminds will be able to become a Hero, and through Praetoria, new Masterminds can start as Heroes.
Looking at Illusion from a design perspective, what I stated is what holds up. The gameplay of the hard control sets suits the fast paced Assault play of the Dominator archtype... which is the design goal. Dominators should not play like Controllers.
One of my biggest personal issues with the cries of proliferate that set, or that set, or that set is that the uniqueness of each set is lost. The different play experience becomes meaningless, or harder to differentiate. Right off hand, unless somebody can make a convincing argument for how Illusion Control would suit the Dominator play-experience goal, there's no reason to proliferate it. -
Quote:I got some syndicate in a boss_name mission, have to get some better screen shots of it.
Dual pistols, others dual swords and a few doing the trenchcoat look.

Well I hope theres some coustume pieces missing from the live version of the game and when GR go live(or maybe in beta pretty please) that costume is gonna look better with new costume pieces. Cause to be honest that boss is uglier then the ugliest merit vendor, and those guys are Random Button ugly.
I mean that boss makes the merit vendor in Bricks look sexy. -
Back when this game was under previous management
Quote:it was said blasters wouldn't get Dark Blast since the -tohit would grant a blaster, then a glass cannon, too much defense. Who said? People on the forums. Why don't Blasters get Dark Blast?

Who was saying this? People on the forums.

I haven't played my fire/dev in ages but I to be pretty good at judging how far time bomb could toss a boss and laying out 4 or 5 trip mines in the spot the boss would land at. Death Mages in Founders feared me. I've had alot of fun with it in the past but if I ever roll another /dev blaster again Time Bomb will be on the short list of powers most likely to be skipped. It will be listed right below Gun Drone.

Awsome.
I'd assume GR as well since the pattern is named after one of the GR factions.
Not complaining but I hope I can get a pattern like that without the little S.
Still Awsome -
Quote:I would love to be able to take a 50 toon I created and side kick him to another 50 I have.. would make for some awsome combos I have.or If somehow u could assign 1 main and 7 of my toons ( cuz im an altaholic ) to AI for your own MM style of ultimate Mish.. oh yeah and they would not qualify for team until they dinged 50! ........I wonder if people use 2 pc's and 2 accounts to doorsit 1 and power lvl.. ?? ps. even being able to deeply customize ur minions for mm's would be cool
Look at this. This is happiness. This is joy. This is rainbow covered marshmellows here.
All of you with your unhappy, unjoyful marshmellowless rainbows should pay attention. -

Quote:There will be redraw, but I wouldn't call it redraw hell. My BS/Regen scrapper that was redraw hell. You are looking at more of a redraw "really long line at the supermarket" annoyance.i have a quick question that i'm having a hard time finding the answer to.
if i'm a War Mace brute and take Mace Mastery, will i be in weapon redraw hell, or can i use my Arachnos Mace in the same way i use my War Mace (ie. can i use War Mace powers with the Arachnos Mace without redraw)?
does that make sense?
thanks in advance! -

What is British Summer Time?
Is it your version of daylight savings?
If this event was happening in November would it say British Winter Time? -
Quote:So I guess this means our Devs decided to copy Champions Online's Tunneling travel power.
If the devs are copying travel powers from Chumps I can't wait until they copy the Hover Disk travel power.
I want a flying carpet.
I want a giant flying playing card.
I want a flying manhole cover.
I want a flying surfboard. -

The Going Rogue page states that we will be getting extra character slots, can you clarify for us if this means that we'll be able to have more than 36 slots on one server or is this just free character tokens that we'll have to use on other servers? by CounterAgent
[Ghost Falcon] Players will receive two (2) "Character Slot" tokens which they can use to unlock any "locked" character slots. If a player has unlocked all available slots already on a server, the player will only be able to redeem those "character slot" unlocks on another server. There are no plans at the moment to expand the available Character Slots beyond 36 slots per server. -
I've not paired the two but something I think about playing my earth/earth is do I use my AOE immobilize or not. If I use stone cages I grant everyone I hit KB/KD resistance which means I just cancelled out the mitigation that earth assualt has. Grav's AOE immobilize doesn't have any KB/KD protection so you wouldn't have to worry about losing a whole secondaries worth of mitigation at once.

I wonder if you leave Pretoria as a vigilante/rouge or you are a full blooded villain/hero?
If you have to choose between full blooded hero and villain, going villain is gonna be extra lame. Hey your level 20 and a villain time for you to leave this cool new zone and head to Sharkshead Island.
Unless GR introduces some insane powers and abilities that reward being full blooded heroes/villains over being rouge/vigilante every toon I have is gonna be grey. -
I hope this powerset has a power like Swap Ammo. A toggle with immediate recharge that controls the magnitude of KB. Well that sounds like a boring power, maybe the toggle sould grant +kb and +dmg.
