I am dissappointed in the whole AE scene. I thought players would be writting scenarios for the game. Instead it is a seperate game within COH. It has dramatically altered the game, and not for the better. Invites to teams is dramatically down. The team I get invites from are now frequently 3 or 4 people. Frequently when I get invites the invite comes as I am about to logoff for the night or cook dinner. I'm not even seeing invites from people setting up teams in AE anymore. Sure AE brought in a bunch of people that wanted to play AE missions which are nothing more than endless farming missions. I suspect many of these people created a few toons pushed them up to level 50 in a matter days and then got bored with creating toons and pushing the toons to level 50. These people are now off looking for another on line game or will be off looking for another game soon. Many of these people probably never realised there the original COH had story lines, or that there was another COH game outside of AE. AE from when I have played it has been one storyless high level, high power farming mission, one after another. It did not take long for me to decide that I did not even want to dabble in trying to create a mission in AE because I did not want to create another pointless farming mission. Hopefully people will return to COH and not give up on COH because they get bored with AE. AE needs to be changed so it is part of the original game instead of series of pointless virtual reality farming missions. COH did not needs an endless supply of farming missions. It already had a huge supply of farming missions. At least those missions could be played as a part of the game just stuck in a time loop. Perphaps AE should become a real chance for players to write real scenarios for the games or even a series of related scenarios or story arch. Perhaps AE should be on a it's own server by itself.
Think about the whole concept for a momemt. COH is a game where the players create Super heroes that live and fight evil in Paragon City. City Of Villains allowed players to create Villians and play the villains either in Rogue Island, or in a PVP zone against other players heroes. What does AE do? It allows the players to create Super Heroes & Super Villains that then get to play in a virtual reality game that exists as a series of unrelated missions outside the game of COH. What would be the next step? Players create Heroes & villains that then log in to Virtual reality game where they create hereos & villains that then create heroes & villains that play in virtual reality game that is a mere shadow of the original COH. What is the point? It is getting to the point of a science fiction writer writing a story about a science fiction writer writing a story about a science fiction writer writing... Ok maybe what I should say is the developers should have stuck to coh instead of a virtual reality game inside COH.
