Power Boost

Very much skippable for PvE, unless you also have aid self I would say. Not to be missed for PvP.
2. [ QUOTE ]
This thread is why I don't do PvP.

Couple of things grabbed my attention straight away. Firstly bobthedemon said "When someone is abusive to me I wait until they swear then I petition them". He didn't say, "I provoke people so that they swear at me, then I petition them".

Secondly, how is TPing into a mob in a PvP zone classed as griefing? Using mobs to attack other players in a PvE zone is an entirely different matter. You go into a PvP zone, you will get attacked. It's really as simple as that. Or are we going to get into that ridiculous "honour" argument again?

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm sorry, but that is not what Bob said, and nothing like how it was phrased.

Secondly, why wait until someone swears to petition them anyway? I, and I think most other people would consider the abusive behaviour more worthy of petition. Yet, for some reason you seem to think that it is only the swearing that warrants it.
3. [ QUOTE ]
A mob tp may or may not hasten this process.

[/ QUOTE ]

And how exactly is baiting people into swearing helping anyone?

I was in sirens a few nights back when someone threatened to petition you for griefing for this exact reason, yet you went on for hours about speculative proof and that your intentions could not be proven.

A little more thought in your actions would be more appreciated than a petition.
4. [ QUOTE ]

If super speed was the same as flight in that you were thrown out of speed for a short time then i wouldnt have an issue it would mean that i might have time to recall my pets or fire a heal or somthing.

[/ QUOTE ]

I think you are referring to supression, and all travel powers suffer from it in the same way.

It probably seemed shorter than usual to you because the animation time of impale reduces the apparent suppressed period afterwards.

Squished

[ QUOTE ]

Wait till I8 you can have daily runs for HO's as heros get the RSF hero version..

[/ QUOTE ]

Pretty sure that's I9..
6. Heavyweight is 41-46, Super-heavy is 47-50.

I don't think there is a minimum level though, and so no specific weight will be used for the fights.
7. [ QUOTE ]
All those 4 are unlikely to work really.

[/ QUOTE ]

Strange, I use 2 of them all the time.
8. [ QUOTE ]
Yep - you cannot do anything when using rest. Still no one come up with the answer yet?

[/ QUOTE ]

There can only be 3/4 fully viable uses for it in a duel.

1) debuff you opponent and stack purples on, so they cant hit you. Eye of magus would be good for this too. Wouldnt work against a blaster though, and very risky in general.

2) have some form of invis and be fighting an opponent without perception.

3) slow them enough so that they can't move into position quickly enough to attack you.

4) be able to make your opponent intangible, eg sonic cage, but this won't really get you anywhere.

It can't be used with any intangibility powers or pff, so I see no other use whatsoever apart from these. Apart from resting after killing your opponent, but that doesn't really count. If there's something I'm missing though, I'll happpily duel your corrupter and you can show me the magic

A tank for PvP?

[ QUOTE ]
So given that does it mean that Invul is now inferior to Ice?

[/ QUOTE ]

Invul is better than ice imo, because of unyielding.

Someone mentioned that Ice is better for confined spaces, but what if you're facing TK or Force Bubble and you have no kin?
10. theGatling

A tank for PvP?

Most PvP kills come from burst damage, if we're talking exclusively about tanks and scrappers anyway. Scrappers have nothing that compares to Fiery Embrace -> Build Up -> Energy Transfer -> Total Focus, except Build Up -> critical tier 9 followed by critcical tier 8. What's the chance of a critical hit again?

A tank for PvP?

[ QUOTE ]

We are talking proper teams and people with basic PvP grasp.

The Granite set in PvP indeed has some standards that u need to meet as a team but the reward u get from it > all tank sets.

[/ QUOTE ]

Invul + kin OR fire + kin > stone + kin.

Kin is pretty much essential at high level team arena/pentad. I would never take stone ahead of these 2, with or without it.

[ QUOTE ]

If you now want to solo in PvP as a tank there is one advice:

Reroll blaster/scrapper/controller hell even defender has better chances

[/ QUOTE ]

You must've not seen a decent Fire/Em in action vs any squishy?

Or an Inv/SS tank in sirens? There is nothing easier to play solo in there.

Which do you think would have the edge in pvp situation? is power boost a must?

[/ QUOTE ]

Boost Range however is one, if not the best powers a Blaster can have in PVP. I'd take that before Power Boost any day.

[/ QUOTE ]

I used to think exactly this, but I have recently begun to favour power boost for it's extreme versatility.

I wouldnt have a build at 50 without either.
13. theGatling

A tank for PvP?

For sirens Inv/SS is a machine. The only thing that will take down a good one is serious gankage, slows, or domination. Honestly the easiest, most fun toon I have played in there.

For level 50 there are numerous viable combo's. Any combination of fire/ ice/ inv/ and /em /ss or /stone would be great solo.
14. /Elec doesn't have a higher damage melee chain. It has 1 extra attack (Shocking Grasp) which is moderate ticking damage for stupid end cost. If you're a looking at the Sherksilver planner the figure for /Energy energy punch is wrong.

Conserve power is a wonderful thing for an Elec/ 1v1 PvP build. It means you can nuke without having all of your end drained.

Power Boost makes /Energy the clear choice, imo.
15. PvP has it's ups and downs, in terms of player activity. Sirens has been busy most evenings for the last few weeks, but RV has yet to take off properly. The international challenge that used to happen on the test server every monday night was fantastic, but fell apart when most of the French PvPers left due to nerfs. Since that ended (back in May) there hasn't been any decent team arena to replace it, although we did have a few good matches against AoW last night. I'm not sure whether there is much going on over on the villain side or not though...

I wouldn't bother with tactics on a regen.

If you're going to stand still, make sure you are watching and listening closely, as you will hear/see the stalker before AS hits, so you can hit dull pain as he AS's you. If you don't have dull pain ready, don't stand still. Im afraid that's just how PvP works in this game.
16. My first and still main PvP toon is an elec/energy blaster. By many people who don't know that I've had this toon at level 50 since i3, I get the same comments about being a "fotm noob" (not that elec/ has ever been fotm) as soon as they have their face to the floor.

I now also get the same comments about my spines/sr scrapper.

Ignore these people. They just need an excuse because they lost and can find no other reason except that you beat them.
17. /Inv scrappers can definitely walk through Force Bubble, so I wouldn't imagine TK having any effect either

Does domination boost the effectiveness of repel?
18. theGatling

New PvP SG!

[ QUOTE ]
Everyone is welcome to try

[/ QUOTE ]

Fancy a few matches on test (just for fun ofcourse ) after the interserver raid this sunday?
19. [ QUOTE ]
I will happily bring level 27 Stone/EA brute if required.

[/ QUOTE ]

If there are too many low level villains on the day, I will switch my preference to playing Valens instead as he is only level 38, or level 24 illu/empath.
20. I would gladly organise random hero pentads for you to pratice against, but can't offer any villain for the team I'm afraid
21. [ QUOTE ]

Yes Electric Brutes do indeed have high resistance to Energy.

[/ QUOTE ]

Shockingly high, you might say

But is it as high as that of a PB?
22. [ QUOTE ]
elec brutes have protection against slows, sorry to dissapoint you.

[/ QUOTE ]

So do SR scrappers, but it doesn't help them much
23. [ QUOTE ]

Dont forget me, I should be on that list.

[/ QUOTE ]

Sorry Max, thought you had been eliminated last week
24. theGatling

Spines/SR

Id personally take both Regen and Invuln over SR for team PvP.
25. If you can get all 6 people to turn up while I'm away I suggest you carry on with the regular 3v3 format.

Teams such as Knight Stalker, Psydock and Kaya X vs. Gaia Guard, Vigilant and Shadow Stryke seem good to me.
