  1. Think it fails in what it was trying to accomplish. If they were setting out to make annoying music - they didn't set out far enough. Maybe it would be more effective if I wasn't prepared for it?

(some of it was good, some of it wasn't - nothing was horrifically annoying considering they were trying to be imo)
  2. I'll use the most evil of foods to destroy the person below me with an overdose of fiber. The weapon of choice? - killer animated raisin bran

Also, I believe you make a valid point that we are responsible for our own well-being. One of my favorite quotes is "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent" (Eleanor Roosevelt). Thank you for your dose of reality check, I think maybe I needed that *shy smile*

I wasn't offended personally (and to be honest the Holocaust is almost casually used in similar ways these days....) and doubt that very many others would be.

I just wanted to point out that sometimes we get upset and forget ourselves, and that sometimes we don't realize that we risk upsetting others with our words. It was obvious that you weren't intending to offend anyone, which is likely different that the person you had the misfortune to group with. You would hope that people who are intentionally acting out in such a way would be kicked, but ultimately, it comes down to what we decide to act for our self. I think your Eleanor Roosevelt quote sums up the situation perfectly.

(As pointed out below your post, to an extent, I am guilty of the same. As I was incorrectly using misantrope as a synonym for jerk. Apologies to all you proud misantropes out there.)

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Catholics, but I didn't speak up because I was a protestant. Then they came for me, and by that time there was no one left to speak for me."

All I am trying to say is...just because a person has the legally-protected right to be a jerk......that shoudn't mean I should have to leave an otherwise lovely party to avoid his jerky-ness. Why am -I- the person who has to leave if I am not the only one who has taken offense? Shouldn't the onus be on the public at large to eject the offending person from our ranks? I mean, if I get my knickers in a twist because someone said my dress was ugly, then yes, I should be the one who leaves.... But if someone proclaims, at the top of their lungs, that all (insert a group of people) should be (insert a verb that is violent), shouldn't the host(ess) ask him/her to leave?
    Well, since you went there......
There are people that are still deeply upset by the Holocaust - so using it trivially about people not saying offensive things to one another in a video game seems like it could come across a bit hypocritical to me. I don't really see how it even applies here, to be honest. Someone was a jerk and you left a group - no one came for you, you could have found another group if you wanted. (If anything -and as long as we're trivializing it, it almost sounds the opposite - first they came for the jerkhole, then they came for the etc etc)

Since that is out of the way now....
Really though - If you want people kicked out of a group for poor behavior, you either need to ask the leader to do so, or lead your own teams. People of varying ages and backgrounds from all over the world play this game, and we shouldn't expect others to share our same sense of decency or tolerance for people acting out. As that is the case, regardless of what /should be/, it happens that we are all responsible for avoiding misantropes, if we so choose.
  5. That aint working - that's the way you do it. Get your money for nothin - kick for free

  7. I don't exactly what you mean by should you "get over it" - get over being a concerned parent? Of course not. Get over being offended by someone so maladjusted and poorly raised that they can't distinquish the difference between positive attention and negative attention? I would say probably so. You can do that and still be a decent human being, by the way.

There are always going to be people we deal with we find unpleasant. At the present time - we can't control them, we can only control how we react to them. Why let some random jerk ruin your night? Report them for their vile conduct - but don't give them the satisfaction of reacting to them.

I discourage people in my VG from RPing godmodey connections to name high level NPCs, for a lot of the reasons you mention.

yeah - but you RSVP'd for the christening of Sister Airlia and my ghost baby. That mean you're not coming? Not cool, man - the catering was hella-expensive.
  9. The first map acting very strange - I rubberbanded constantly until I clicked the glowie - then everything was fine - I didn't rubberband again.... Not sure why the first mish needed to be a kill all from a story perspective - but it's a small map - so no big deal.

Second mish was fine. Mobs acted weird - tended to run as soon as damaged, but unless you set mob AI to annoying coward, I think you're off the hook for that.

Third Mish, well we have a problem. The ally is way too powerful. She cleared the board. I didn't do anything - I didn't have to. Sort of raises the question - why does she need my help anyways?

Thought the story was fine, aside from the piece mentioned above. Mish definitely solo friendly.
  10. The Suicide Squad was a good book, well, most of the time anyways. I'd be potentially interested in a static team, depending on play time. If you can do without the whole forced to work for the government thing - there are probably a few good SG/VG that play meta-mercs and are recruiting.
  11. 2 folks from NCSoft - though neither actually worked on TR itself had some interesting personal blog updates at around the time TR went belly up. I thought the game was ok, even after the bug fixes. I think I subscribed for the last 3 or 4 months and probably played 3 or 4 times. (It was either ok, or I was too lazy to cancel it...) I'd say they are worth reading, if you haven't already (I found them on a massively post) - so here they are...
