... Incidently, you do know that ending a sentence with "of" violates at least one English rule, right?

You are right, of course.

You should never, never, never, ever, end a sentence with a preposition,
so I am not going to!

Welllll, whether it is good or bad, what it might free him up to get involved in the Buffy movie remake/reset. Right now, they are saying Whedon is not involved. He has another Horror movie he is working on. But other rumors say that the way would be completely open for Whedon to join in. He said he hopes it will be a cool movie.

The Re-Buffy is being put together by the same people who have been producing Buffy and Angel production from the original movie through all the series.

Farming isn't against the rules. Exploiting is.

-Rachel-

[/ QUOTE ]

I really hate those words. I could argue the point 'til I'm blue in the face. I could go to great lengths about the AE farms being exploits. I could compare it to other forms of farming, and give my opinion about which are wrong and which are not.Instead, I'm going to beat my head against the wall for the next hour and a half, which is far more enjoyable.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm sorry you hate those words Aku but they are true.
This game is filled with legitimate examples of farming.
The devs have never tried to stop any of it.
The things they actively go after are the exploits.

You admit that you understand that The order as it is, gives Emps the powers they need, at the points in their level-span, at the levels those powers are most useful

[/ QUOTE ]

Just want to point out that's not what I said. With that said, you're free to disagree. Just don't put words in my mouth.

[/ QUOTE ] Well, No. I used your words.. The reason it is unclear is that you cut out the first part of Wendy's quote.

I'll throw in some carriage returns and bold, for clarity, but Wendy said:

[ QUOTE ]
Sounds nice but sort of throws off the whole balance of the EMP set.
The healing powers are useful [u]in the early game[u] so having them available means an EMP can provide that sevice.
While Fort and CM are essential [u]later on,[u]
in the early game most team mates can get by against the limited abilities of most villains they face as long as the EMP keeps their HP high.
Frankly by the 30s and 40s I am using Fort and CM a LOT more and occasionally using Heal Other to manage that one one two team mates that are taking damage.
I think the order was determined based on this fact and see no reason to switch it.

[/ QUOTE ]
Boiled down, Wendy said:
* Heals are useful in the early game.
* Buffs are useful in later game
* That is why they are ordered this way... no change needed

You quoted the [u]buffs are useful later[u] part, and immediately said:

[ QUOTE ]
That's actually the whole point as to why I'm suggesting the change. It's a buff set and the order change makes that obvious. . . .

[/ QUOTE ]
[u]You didn't deny any of what Wendy said,
and said "That's the point."[u]

I can't come to any other conclusion than: <ul type="square">[*]You admit that you understand that The order as it is, gives Emps the powers they need, at the points in their level-span, at the levels those powers are most useful.[*] . . .and you want to rearrange them so that the powers are NOT there at the levels they are useful.[*]and the purpose of this inefficient order, is to make a point to Emps, on how you want them to play their powers?
.

Okay, I've gotta ask, it's bugged me for too long.

WTF is up with the dot three lines down at the end of all your posts? Is it representative of some lost loved one, or a reminder of some epic event from your childhood? Because it's driving me INSANE!!!!

[/ QUOTE ]
OK... I do it too, but maybe 2 lines below.

MY reason is that I usually leave my sig out of my posts.
And that means the last line of the post just lays there crashing into the top of the next post.
Like if a book I was reading was printed down to the last bit of white space at the bottom of the page.

And the last statement I make in a post is often my "wrap up the main point" line.
So I like it [u]framed a little higher[u] than resting on the next post.

ALSO, you notice, when you get quoted, all your paragraphs get scrunched together
I sometimes also include a dot in the blank line between paragraphs, as well as the one at the bottom.

5 Year Badge?

[ QUOTE ]
Ok i am fine with waiting - my main point was really to see if anyone else had gotten it - and it seems other people who normally get it before me are in the same boat so i will wait. Its just i have been working on the major character overhauls in my build programs and plan on redoing 64 alts to get rid of that stupid precurser to travel power . . .

[/ QUOTE ]

Hmm. I am due for 60 in about a month.

Do you really have that many you want to remove the precursor on?
I thought so at first... But after looking at many of my alts, I find I am still going to want those in, CJ for the defense, Hasten for faster recharge etc.

I don't think I am going to want it on my higher alts very often.

Where I do think it will come in handy, will be on my lowbies... The ability to take the travel power earlier will be nice. But skipping the precursor, altogether? Not so much, for me.
.
19. Interesting. Like I said, I haven't seen that happen before.

Has anyone else?

The fact that you just ding'd 50 might be important too...
although that shouldn't matter either.

Heh.

Still have that one around, too. &gt;.&gt; Felt the need to change, though. Full piece here. (Just because the artist's easy to work with and cheap... I like pointing people to him.)

[/ QUOTE ]
Oh, good.... That helps.

I wasn't able to figure out what I was looking at just from the avatar.

.
21. Out of curiosity....
What level is the alt? . . . and how old as it? . . . Are you sure it used to be WR, as opposed to wr?

These shouldn't matter, as I have never heard of this happening before.
Whatever Upper/Lower case you put in the name at Creation, should hold.

In the underlying DB in the game, case does NOT matter.
While SuperBoB will always display as SuperBoB, the letters themselves are all that matters to the game. There cannot be both a SuperBoB, and a supERbOb, on the same server. and if you type '/invite superbob', that invite will indeed go to SuperBob.

Good luck on getting the Caps back!
Let us know what happens.

The mass of the playerbase have voted with their dollars, and this game is just as profitable as ever, if not more, than it was five years ago.

[/ QUOTE ]

The bold part is an outright fallacy.

The subscriber base dropped off not long after CoV and then leveled out thereafter. The only time there's a noticable population spike is during free weekends.

Since the subscription itself is still 14.99 a month and there's less people playing now that there were five years ago (before there was the 500 pound gorilla in the room named Warcraft) and since the retail game client, itself, has dropped to sub-$20, the game is nowhere near "as profitable as", let alone "more profitable than", 5 years ago.

[/ QUOTE ]
LOL.... Yes, you do mention a couple of major factors there, . . . but ...

Can't take your argument completely seriously....
unless you also have detailed data on things like: <ul type="square">[*]How many people buy booster packs each month?[*]How many people buy server transfers each month?[*]How many people pay every month for the $4.99 30-day flight pack? (I do.)[*]How many name changes are bought each month?[*]How many people will be buying the ROGUE expansion? (I will be.)
This, even before we know if it brings new-blood or not.[*]What are the overhead costs for CoX now as opposed to 4 years ago?
(I dunno!, but I hear some CoX income helped pay for developing on other games.)
I know a couple of the above, may be minor, but a couple are not.
and the overhead difference could be huge!

Bring back all this data. Put it in a new thread,
and we'll talk about comparative profitability, then and now..

.
24. [ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
The short answer?
File size measures the size of a computer file. Typically it is measured in bytes with a prefix. The actual amount of disk space consumed by the file depends on the file system.
i.e. depending on how the drive is formatted, and designed, will make a file be a different length on a different drive.

[/ QUOTE ]

There's a big difference in the logical size of a file and the "physical" size it requires on storage media, filesystem architecture, etc.. Data applications should never care about the physical size, and indeed are typically completely blind to it. If I load a plain text file containing nothing but 10,000 ASCII letter "X"s into a programming text editor, that file will be exactly 10,000 bytes long no matter what storage media I store it on or even what OS I store it on. Nothing that is not an OS or disk management tool should ever know that the file might actually be taking up 11,264 bytes of storage on my disk drive due to NTFS's block size.

In short, whatever is up, that is most assuredly not it, or some CoH dev doesn't have enough to do if he/she is determining how much filesystem overhead the mission files incur on our individual systems.

[/ QUOTE ]
Thank you.
I agree with all your data. (But you actually repeat my main point. Yes, the TextLength, and the FileSize, are only loosely similar.)

But you are disregarding that I covered that in my conclusion: [ QUOTE ]
So yes... IF you are working on an MA arc that is pushing the limit . . .
AND (IF) the MA system is accepting the file size your local machine is reporting, rather than the size the MA file will be when saved on the server, . . .
then the difference from machine to machine can be quite significant.

[/ QUOTE ]
You are trying to deny my argument, but to do so, you had to pretend that I had not included those "IF" clauses that I did clearly include in the conclusion.
It appeared that the physical filesize reported by the local machine was almost the only possible logical variant in this case. (The serverside reformatting, like the &amp;nsbp and such, should happen from both local machines, and should not be a variant in this case.)

But, it seems from what Arcana said, that the local physical size reported does not matter, and that has been previously tested. So I am going to be interested to see what other things are affecting this problem.

rember last expansion was villains how many AT's did that bring to the game?
This is marketed as a boxed expansion so should atleast have 4 new AT's if not they should publish it as what it should be an ISSUE not a new box

[/ QUOTE ]
LOL!
OK, then . . . You get your mandate!

Each side will gain 5 or so new ATs! There.
I really don't think you get to decide what has to be included to make it an expansion.
I think that will be decided more by how much work is required to bring the new changes to the table.

I am amused at all the people with their own axes to grind.
"If it doesn't have more proliferation, it isn't an expansion!".
"If they don't give us Dual pistols, then it isn't an expansion!"
"If they don't fix the things I think are bugs . . ."
"If I don't get ponies . . . "

I guess I think the resounding "SQUEEEEEEEE!" from most of the population, from what we already know, says, "Oh Yah! This qualifies as an expansion"
Sorry if something you personally wish for yourself in the game doesn't get included.

(Oh, and characters on each side gain access to many more zones too! and in a way that doesn't thin the population in each zone.)

.
