Thanks for reminding us officer!

true.
But this thread, as opposed to the OP intent,
has really been less about farming,
and more about auto-sk as opposed to setting up mentor/drone teams.

[ QUOTE ]
Ummm, . . .
But, . . .
The auto-SK actually inhibits PL-ing.
If you are all the same level, you all fight.
You don't have -5lvl drone players just standing at the door.
You all get xp apropriate to your real lvl... not the SKlevel.
.
[/ QUOTE ]
Nope.
Add Requiem to a map.
Turn difficulty to the top.
Start mission with a level 50.
Enemies spawn at level 52.
Auto-SK to level 46.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, I know about that.
Out of every hundred or so normal, auto-sk maps, I have played, I see about 1% of these exploit maps you describe.
but that is a small percentage of what people are talking about with auto-sk.
If you throw out all the auto-sk maps , instead of just the special exploit maps, then you do indeed bring back
perma-46 people,
people standing at the door doing nothing but soaking up xp.
Don't throw out the baby with the exploit bath water.
Get rid of the exploit you describe, somehow? Fine.
Get rid of auto-sk? No.
One of the the best things about putting teams together in MA is not having to worry about what levels you have, and how many mentor/sk pairs you have so far.
And I don't want to see people droning and just standing at the mish door.

But i think all the AE farming really is making really bad players for the other content.
Don't get me wrong. I love PLing, farming, and IO'ing out my characters. I don't RP, i don't like telling anyone how to play there game. I just thought id say maybe those of us farmers out there can take a little more care in who we invite to our teams.
Last night i did a synapse TF on Freedom. A pretty well rounded team, balanced, and pretty fluent in terms of moving along at a good pace. Well, 8 people started, only 5 finished. We went down to 5 after about 45 mins. Players that were invited to a TF, who knew there were being invited to a TF that were going to be exemplared down to level 20, had no idea why they were getting no XP, and didn't even know the benefit of the task force commander accolade and 50 or so merits you get upon completion.
It's unbelievable what people get themselves into, with no regard for the team or task at hand.
I hate to blame AE, but it's hard not too.
So, all i am saying is....don't pl with the n00bs, they are probably leaching in your farms anyway.

Listen to these people.
They are right.

more than just a couple of times,
years ago,
I have duo'd or soloed, a Posi TF to the end.
A third of the team would quit after the first mish, and then another here or there,
till the team was down to one or two. . . . years ago.
.
New n00bs?
MA n00bs?
.
Nope.
Nothing new to see here.
Same old thing.
.
Don't try to blame the same old **** on your new pet dislikes.
Just the same old, same old here.

...The reason that rule is worded like that is because someone can come in here and post /sign. Bumping is the side effect of posting a petition.
[/ QUOTE ]
Folo, Here is the thing:
*1. You are using an overly broad definition of the term petition.
Your definition of petition says that [u]No One[u], can [u]Ever[u], post a suggestion,
because someone [u]Could[u] come into the thread and /sign it.
*You completely disregard the rest of the dev definition, which
clearly defines the terms petition, and lobby, and which
clearly states that we ARE allowed to make suggestions, and discuss them.
There is a difference between 'petitioning' (asking), and
creating or forming a 'petition' (a 'document' or thread, for many to sign)
I repeat here the quote you posted of the devs rule.
(words in parentheses() are my comments.)
[ QUOTE ]
Do not create threads/posts to petition or Lobby for game features, additions, changes, or other issues.
(definitions of these terms below.)
.
You may post suggestions and/or ideas to the boards,
.
(definition of petition here) but you may not create a petition for others to sign.
This is bumping in disguise and will not be allowed. (The bumping is from asking for /signs)
.
(definition of Lobbying here) Lobbying is continually bringing up the same topic repeatedly in numerous different threads or as an off-topic post in official threads to get developer attention. This form of posting is not permitted.
[/ QUOTE ]
PK made a suggestion.
He did not ask us to post "agree" posts or "/sign" posts.
So he did Not form a petition. Yes, he was riding close to the edge, but
he actually indicated he would prefer we did not /sign his suggestion.
Other than the misinterpretation between 'petitioning', and 'creating a petition',
most of us were just [u]discussing[u] a [u]suggestion[u], both of which ARE allowed.
. -
Well, Heck... I see your problem here...
But, . . .
Here's the thing:
A simple "No symbol"?
I rate that 3 on a scale of 10.
Yes, I would use it. But it is just OK.
But for a Home Run, 10 out of 10, No symbol ....
You have to be able to use SOME symbol. (anything), and then
the ability to paste the "NO symbol" over the top of the other symbol
You need to be able to say 'No Smoking','no Drama','No A-Bombs','No Hea10rz', etc.
So you need the ability to overlay 2 symbols, or something, or it is kind of a lead balloon type of idea.
So, I guess what I am saying, is:
A simple No Symbol is better than NO No Symbol, but just barely.
But a No something symbol, THAT would be da Bomb!
(unless, of course, there was a NO Bombs symbol sign in the area.)
. -
This has been suggested many times before.
Go! Search! Read those already existing discussions
People made personal SGs BEFORE they made bases cheaper.
It is even easier now.
Go! Search! Read the discussion about personal SGs.
Read the guides about how to make a personal SG/base.
There is more discussion and info about this than we could ever need.
We don't need this new thread.... check those.

[ QUOTE ]
For subjects which are of specific importance to the devs (ie: your farming thread example), what benefit is gained from having multiple threads?
It's just like having multiple pages, except
each page is harder to find and
you're guaranteed to get repetition,
rather than just a strong likelihood.
[/ QUOTE ]
This!
And it corrects the breach of the rules, which tells us we are to ...
SEARCH first, and
Post in the OTHER threads about the topic,
rather than start [u]yet another[u] thread on the same topic.
People who start multiple threads are either ignorant or insane. They <ul type="square">[*]are inept, or ignorant of the existing topic, because they did not search.
This would mean they haven't already read the background or discussions that are already there.[*]or they are simply trying to reset the discussion, hoping that this time they can get the outcome to match their desired opinion.
and you know, . . . doing the same thing over and over and over, hoping to get a different result? insanity.
. -

Solo bases are the exception and not the rule in comic books.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, tell that to the super guy with the Fortress of Solitude.
Gotta be careful with those blanket type statements (i.e. Bases are for groups).
[/ QUOTE ]
Did you read the rest of what he said or just stop there? Superman is (I think) the only major superhero with a "one-man sg-base" that he didn't mention. Exception doesn't mean that it doesn't happen, it means that it's rare.
[/ QUOTE ]
Here we go. Just what I wanted to avoid. Did you read where I said "no one said things in absloute terms" or "Not out to pick an argument" or "may be more solo bases [i.e. it may be less rare...in CoX terms] than ppl might, at first glance, think "?
I give up.
[/ QUOTE ]
Probably a good idea.
I find it is hard for one to keep an argument going, when you are saying almost the same thing that the person you are trying to argue against is saying.
(Although he was talking about bases in comics, and you were talking about in-game. You know, apples/oranges)
Yes, In COMICS, Solo bases are the exception and not the rule. (i.e. they are rare.)
Yes, In CoX, Solo bases are DOable. (although rarer than multi-player bases)
It will be hard to sustain much argument there.
Your points are so close to being identical.

<ul type="square">[*]First.... Vs and Qs are not that rough. after you have a few attacks under your belt, as long as you see them first, you just keep them busy holding their nuts, they cant get a shot off and you are totally safe[*]You are under a misconception. Khelds are ATs that work best if it is an experienced player designing them[*] The Khelds need experienced players, both for better AT design, and for strategy, as in Vs and Qs.[*]I love me my Khelds, but it took me 4 tries before I came up with the first build that workeed with my playstyles.
[ QUOTE ]
I thought that farm missions were not going to be allowed anymore? These things completely take away from not only the Mission Architect system, but the overall game as well by luring in so many players with the carrot of fast EXP gain. Weren't these supposed to be actively monitored/removed and their creators warned?. . .
[/ QUOTE ]
Again here, you are confusing the word [u]farming[u], with the word [u]exploit[u].
Regular farming will always happen... players will always find missions they like to repeat
to get more inf to IO out their alts, or level with.
If all mishes were nerfed down to about 500xp/hour, and a few gave 520xp/hour,
then people would farm those 520 mishes.
So yes, no matter what, and whether it is 'OK' or not, . . . 'Regular' farming will always be with us.
Exploits, on the other hand, will always be nerfed, in whatever way possible.
If people find a way to use a bug, or something in the game, to gain unintended uberXP, UberINF, or UberPLing, then it WILL be fixed, nerfed, punished, or all three.
The [u]BAD[u] farming exploits were the ones that did not take legitimate risk compared to uber rewards,
like allowing one to go from 1 to 50 in a few hours.
'Regular' farming does NOT EQUAL exploit or exploit farming.

... I hate teleport as a travel power so I'm tempted to try a PB, but ...
[/ QUOTE ]
Khelds are a lot of fun . . . Either one you pick, try different builds... the first one I did, I tried 3 or 4 different builds before I found one that fit what I liked.
For TP though, check out the thread: The ultimate Teleport Bind - the program , I use a more manual version of this bind, but proper binding will take TP, which can be torture to use, and make it one of the easiest, and most fun, travel powers.
_________________________
The effect:
<ul type="square">[*]Press and hold down your TPbind key. (I use LControl)[*]The camera pulls back to give you a wider view.[*]The windows disappear from your screen, giving you better range to click in.[*]While the key is held down, every time you click the mouse, you TP to that spot.
You can continue clicking and TPing as many hops as you want.
When you are through,[*]Release the TPbind key[*]Your windows return to screen, your camera returns to normal.[*]and you continue on your way till you want to TP again.
TP used to be my least favorite travel power, and now it is one of my top two favorites.
Good binding makes TP actually fun! -

. . . And frankly, if an hour and a half's worth of content is all they can produce after months of development, then you can't possibly be upset with me for voicing my unhappiness.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, heck yes.
That might explain it.
Can you point me to the references that they spent months on I15?
I missed seeing them. That would help us understand.
When they told us, weeks ago, that I15 would be small, I have to admit to you, that I,
(and I think most), logically assumed they had spent many months on AE, and many months on the coming expansion, GR. But many of us assumed when they told us weeks ago that I15 would be small, we just thought that this sounded logical.
But if you can link me to the references of the months of work you think they all spent on I15, I will come over and sit with you and be grumpy too.
Until then, I have to say I would feel unreasonable to be grumpy about small I15,
since they warned us of that a good while back.
