I find there are two different styles of piracy, bootlegging and personal. Bootlegging should be illegal no matter the circumstances since it brings profit to someone other than the artist. Personal is more grey.
As long as it is just one person watching the content, then it depends on the type of content. Fansubs and Scanlations for anime and manga is not completely the artist's work anymore. Therefore, the legality rests on the group that altered the work than the person that downloaded it. TV shows and music are also a grey area since if it can be recorded on a DVR so what does it matter how a person obtains the show. Exclusive content that is only available through a channel like HBO would be illegal unless a person has access to the exclusive content. -
Here is the schedule for the next two years. Found here.

I hate the whole argument that just because thousands of people downloaded some type of media, then the company has lost that much in profit. Some people would have bought the media, but others would not even bother if there was no means of obtaining it. Also, people tend to buy books, games, and movies and only use them once before it is never used again.
In order for people to have a reason to buy such items, it is necessary for there to be some incentive to pay for it like sculptures in Collector's Editions. Besides content like Netflix and Steam is how modern content should be. Books, CDs, and DVDs are outdated. -
Missing the most important part of my post, just. Nothing wrong with various stress relief activities. Would be interesting to see how many forum posters are Active and how many are Non-Active.

Quote:It would be more interesting if the Cosmic Force tweaked Physics a bit. For example, iremoving the bandgap energy of Silicon would make almost all electronics pieces of junk. Changing the rules we live by would cause more havoc than getting rid of all intelligent people and would be far more interesting in the long run. Of course, changing the rules every few years would be the most effective.Actually, unless this cosmic force also wiped out books, instruction manuals, the internet and such... Well, I don't think it would take the world all that long to get back up to speed.
Oh sure, 20 years down the road we may not be as technologically advanced as we would have been, but I am pretty sure we'd probably be back at par to where we were. -
Quote:Current eating trends, Wall-E, and Idiocracy indicate the opposite happening. IMO, we are more likely to end up as Jabba the Hutt instead of Luke Skywalker. Or more accurately, there will be a class division between the Active and the Non-Active. The Active spends their time improving themselves in the physical and/or mental while the Non-Active spends their time just playing games, using VR, and other methods of escaping from reality. After all, why bother with getting a good home and family when you can get a better one in VR.Physical attributes continue to progress at this rate as well. While true that humans have always been capable of running at 40+mph. The fact that it hasn't been achieved yet makes it that much more difficult to. Once the barrier is breached however... It'll start getting passed on, both genetically and mentally, just the simple act of hearing about someone doing something changes everything.
It goes from being something impossible, and therefor pointless to strive for, to something acheivable and eventually becomes the 'Norm'.
In the future, we will be faster and more agile, with more intelligence at the lowest level than we currently have at the highest. This is natural progression. -
It was just a cat learning a new language. Nothing to see here.

The Destroyer of all decent movies.

Yeah aliens using Windows 95 was a bit far fetched. A person would assume that aliens would develop a different style of computer and computer programming that would take years if not decades for a human to understand how to operate it at a basic level much less be able to hack it. If Jeff Goldblum was an alien/human hybrid or had a mind meld done to him, then it would make sense.

Quote:But still, what does that have to do with catgirls? Besides catgirls make everything better.lol, yeah.
I would contribute more, but Im vomitting in my mouth just thinking about it.
If something causes you to vomit, then it is wise to not mention it in the first place. -
Anyone plan on having a party on Jan. 1, 2013 to mock all end of the world predictions? Don't have to worry about people mocking you for being wrong.

Quote:If you are being controlled by thought police, then how would you know?Need to learn to say what you think without fear of censorship. Being controlled by the thought police will make you crazy. It does not matter really. Only one who would get flak from this thread is me cause the thread pushes the envelope. You saying something now would be like throwing a lit match into a forest fire.

Quote:Moderation is a fact of life in all forms of medias. After all, we won't see an image that belongs in Playboy in a kid's TV show. Each forum like all media is set with a specific theme in mind and things that don't apply to that theme is subject to moderation since forums follow the rules they have set out and we agree to follow them when we register. The forum being privately owned is irrelevant. The fact that some of these people lack the rationality to accept offensive speech shows the nature of their charater. They are so quick to hide behind a moderator that it shows that IF THEY HAD THE POWER IN REAL LIFE , they would ban anything that is offensive to them.
Lucky in real life the Constitution protects us from such crazies.
If the speech is something offensive, then it is a matter of the moderators to determine if it is in bad taste or offensive to the theme of the forums.
Freedom of Speech is important, but when it conflicts with other people's freedom to happiness, then moderation is necessary. After all, 500 lb men in speedos or writings that make people dumber by reading it should be moderated for the good of everyone else. One person's freedom is not more important than everyone elses if that person's freedom tramples on everyone else's freedom. -
Quote:Thats what the Zambonis are for. Canadians are similar to Zergs in that we need Zambonis to exist. Zambonis are the Canadian version of Creep Tumors. Hockey is the Canadian version of Creep. Without the influence of Hockey, most Canadians can't survive. It is the reason why we spread it to the US and Europe and send our best Hockey players to the States.Everyone knows that Canadians can't exist below the tree line! Except for that specialized breed known as the lumberjackers. And their lesser brethren, the maplers.
When your neighbours start drinking Tim Hortons, going to hockey games, and ending their sentences with eh, then run as fast as you can from civilization since the Canadian Invasion will have begun. It will only be a matter of time before everyone is Canadian. -
A global flood of chocolate syrup or some science experiment that has zero chance of destroying the world.

All good episodes, but it is IMO the best since I prefer Halloween specials and those rare few episodes that show the future. Certainly is an interesting future to live in.
-
Has to be the most recent Christmas Special.
Is one of the alternate future episodes where Bart is a deadbeat dad, Man has colonized the Sun, Michigan is under Sharia law, email is replace with bmail, Prince Harry is called Bloody Harry, and we still don't hear what Maggie sounds like. The show is riddled with other fun future tidbits and it is extremely difficult to think of a Simpsons episode that I like better if not impossible. -
So I guess it is a certainty that time travel requires going faster than 88 mph. Doesn't matter if it is a Delorean or falling off a building.

I don`t understand why people should be sad when someone that age dies. Anyone that lives that long deserves a standing ovation for when they pass away. Especially if they have a positive attitude at the end.
-
I can't be sad when a person of that age passes on. They lived a long life and whether it was a good life is something only they can say. That said, he will be missed.

The artist mentioned that it was done before Runaway Bride so the only new companion is Rose and only companions that have some type of relationship with the doctor are included. That's why his family companions are included, but others are not. Not sure if Amy Pond would be in the picture if it was updated since she will be screaming Rory's name, than the Doctors.
