I said that they might have had an idea that the show might end not that they weren't planning for a third season. It is the whole idea of hope for the best, but plan for the worst. The beauty of the series finale is that it works as a series finale or as a season finale. There is no cliffhanger so people aren't irritated about what will happen to save the crew. The third season premiere could have been included flashbacks of how Eli saved himself or a Kino message to the crew and Rush finds that Eli used the chair, but no sign of Eli anywhere.

If I was doing it, then I would set it so that the Destiny crew is woken up by the new inhabitants of Destiny. I seriously doubt that the Destiny crew was the first stowaways on Destiny and they won't be the last.

They might have had an idea that the series would be cancelled so they aired a season finale that could pass as a series finale if needed. Far safer to do that, then have a cliffhanger for a series finale like some shows I could name.

SGU did have a decent series finale. A ride off into the sunset scene is much better than using some Deus Ex Machina to get home which is what Voyager did. Although the Deus Ex Machina of Voyager at least had Voyager destroying Borg and the Death of the Borg Queen.
  4. The problem with the final episode of V is Tyler getting massacred, humans getting Blissed, and the fifth column joining up with the MiB. The producers of a cancelled show should have revealed the plans for the show to pacify fans about what happens next or reveal plans to wrap everything up in a miniseries, movie, or book. Tyler seemed to be only about creating teenage angst and being the future father of a alien hybrid.

HG Wells getting a show sounds good, but it sounds like Steampunk CSI. I prefer the premise of Warehouse 13 to a Steampunk version of CSI.
  5. In the words of Ronald Weasley, "That was Bloody Brilliant." Was rather funny how the Doctor didn't steal the Tardis, but the Tardis stole the Doctor.

And yes, DarkGob, you are the only one that thinks that this season has been meh. Each episode had a monumental or at least memorable point. Amy shooting at a kid in the first, the hidden message in the Moon Landing in the second, the first human space pirates in the third episode, and the Doctor finally talking to the TARDIS. There is also Schroedinger's baby, the woman appearing in Amy's mind, and the picture of Amy in 1969 that will play a part in the future.
  6. Only way I would accept COH2 is if there is a week or two downtime for all the character files transferred over, powersets stay the same, missions stay the same, events stay the same. COH2 should be a complete engine overhaul so the things that the devs want to add, but can't in CoH can be added in CoH2. It should be just like Ultra Mode where nothing really changed, but the graphics were updated to more recent graphics instead of 7 year old graphics.

It is pure speculation. Messing with the radioactive core is a more likely reason than due to a simple orbital attack. The main point is that two wormholes are opened to the Destiny and two worlds are destroyed because of it. Even Rush believes that using the 9th Chevron blows up the planet.

    Quote:
KIVA: We're under attack. Can we dial the ninth chevron?

RUSH: Not without blowing everything up.
    Quote:
OVIRDA: Twice this has been attempted, and twice the planets were destroyed by a catastrophic chain reaction.

TELFORD: The overload at Icarus was a direct result of the enemy bombardment. In the second case ...

OVIRDA: We acknowledge there were mitigating factors in both cases. Nevertheless, our scientists believe Doctor Rush's solution is inherently dangerous.

WOOLSEY: Which is why we asked you to come here, sir. We have a new solution.
Whether Icarus was due to enemy bombardment or unreliable technology is not known. There are some risks to Rush's method so it is possible that the bombardment raised the risk from 10% to 60%. The latest episode dealing with Icarus planets was they found a new way to use Icarus Stargates so they don't blow up the planet when contacting Destiny. Even if the destruction of the planets was due to an attack and not the technology, then people would be less likely to do it again.

The problem is that Stargate Command has already blown up one planet getting people to Destiny so the inhabitants are far less likely to allow Stargate Command to use their Stargate. If some alien species asked the United States to use their Stargate to contact an alien group when one planet has already blown up in the process, do you think any American President would give the go ahead? No sane leader would do it unless the technology was throughly tested and posed no risk to their population.

Once you reach a certain power level, no manner of brute force will defeat you. That is why Kryptonite is used so often in Superman comics. Lex Luthor has no chance of defeating Superman on his own without Kryptonite. There always has to be some omnipotent being helping the hero or some technology, spell, or material that is the weakness of the omnipotent foe. Otherwise, it would be a matter of party meeting final boss and getting easily destroyed in one shot. Dropping a foe into a black hole through the use of magic, wormhole, or some other method is effective against most heroes. Hulk hardly ever goes up against opponents that put up much of a fight. All that is needed to defeat Hulk is send him flying out of the solar system using telekinesis, wormholes, or brute strength to be able to throw him.
  11. If Steve Job hates it, then it is good reason to cease its production since people should be able to control how their image is used or at least get paid for others using their image. However, it could be just like Weird Al and Lady Gaga where the people that work for them aren't working in their best interests.

Not enough info to make any conclusions, but she could have been knocked offline before the aliens got sick and only recently went online again. The bodies seems to have been around for quite a while due to them being only bones, but the Siren attacks appeared to happen only recently within about one week to one month. No crew member would stay on a cursed ship when there are other options like finding another ship at port. I would say that the alien ship landed on the pirate ship a good while ago like about a year ago or longer and was contaminated with human bacteria before the Siren came online.

Two possibilities, same person different server or decided to reroll Blazing Tiger as a Praetorian. Computer programs are not smart enough to catch such irregularities.

Next week is the series finale. Looks like it will be a cliffhanger with no resolution.

Think they already killed off Osama. Almost put down Obama. Their names are too close together. Osama saved America from an invasion of New Jerseyians or however you call them and some soldiers kill Osama after the threat has been taken care of.

    Babylon 5

There are also numerous movies and books that are available. I would recommend reading the trilogies that deal with the Technomages, Centauri Prime, and Psi Corps. The Technomage trilogy deals with the life of Galen and reveals just how they use their sorcery. Centauri Prime deals with the aftermath of the bombing of Centauri Prime. Psi Corps deals with the history of the Psi Corp and the life of Bester. I don't recall what the names are for the trilogy or books. The other books are the standard SF official fanfiction that seems to be too common with science fiction series.

Going to have to explain that one since some people already have it. Are we talking about releasing methane, hydrogen or some other explosive gas and use a lighter to make the explosion or stealth farts that you can explode at will with either grenade or nuke levels of explosion?
  19. If I am a superhero, then inflicting empathy on others. The supervillain wants power so I will give it to him. They didn't say what type of power. Causing pain to others will inflict pain on themselves. Helping others will give a sense of happiness or whatever feeling the person being helped is currently experiencing. They should either become a masochist, become a complete wreck, or start doing heroic things.

While I doubt it is completely true, certain events are backwards according to their perspective. First time River meets the Doctor is about the last time the Doctor sees her. The main events are backwards, but the details are completely random.
  21. Would just need to create a foundation where you have people search for the most needy cases for healing. Although, there is the problem of the ethics of deciding who to heal. Do you heal a nobel prize winner that has accomplished many great things and will continue to do great things if they live or do you save a child that could be the evilest dictator of the world or create some amazing invention?

Depends on how the power worked. If it is based on desire or intent, then lobotomizing you would destroy the power. In fact, any brain surgery could destroy any power that requires concentration if not done correctly. The power has to be studied carefully to figure out which parts of the brain are safe to cut and which aren't. Can't put an implant in the brain or perform a lobotomy if it is located in the area of the brain controlling the power. Controlling the patient with an implant that causes severe pain would be far less risky. Although, the patient might be able to teleport himself and not the implant. Why take a risk in destroying the power, when there are far more effective methods to controlling a person like greed or national pride. Also, the patient has to be completely drugged through the entire procedure or they would escape.

I also wonder if the original Doctor death in the first episode was done by the space suit itself (no one inside of it). As was shown in ep. 2 the suit started to move by itself (at least its fingers)...*shrugs*
The Doctor seemed to recognize who the occupant of the spacesuit was so it could have been someone that he encountered in the 200 years after we last saw him.

As far as the girl goes, I think she is either Amy's mother, Amy, or Amy's daughter. 40 years is enough time for Amy's mother to grow up and have a 20 year old daughter. Amy's grandmother could be a Time Lord that escaped the Time War by leaving before it started or some other method and lived as a human. Which would explain why the girl could regenerate. If the girl is Amy, then the regeneration process could have kept Amy as a little girl and something happened to her before she met the Doctor caused her to lose her memory and powers.

It is episode's like these where I wished I had a temporal TV so I could see all the episodes of this season. Unfortunately, I would have to sign some type of NDA contract for anything I watched that is in the future. Dimensional TVs wouldn't have those problems, but they have the problem of keeping track of which series you are watching. The Original Series of Star Trek could have hundreds of different version and it would be difficult to keep track of them all. For example, Captain Pike being the main character of the series instead of Kirk or Kirk fighting off the Borg.
  24. It is more of a game of russian roulette than actual genocide. How many people have actually seen the Moon Landing? As time passes, more and more people will not see the Moon Landing. So it amounts to will that human kill me due to him watching old historical footage or will he act as a normal human will. The safest thing would be to avoid all human colonies, but there could be human colonies that are easily influenced and won't kill them until some visitor comes along.
