    The Return !

Welcome back old chap. Was wondering where you'd gotten to.

Hope your well and I'll see you ingame.
  2. Well done on another level 50 old boy. Your collection seems to be ever growing
  3. Personally, I'm a massive fan of /SR for Stalkers, for me it wins hands down over /Regen.

/SR gives you +Peception from Focused Senses which /Regen cant offer, which comes in handy for dealing with the likes of Smoke Grenades or should you choose to venture into PvP
    .
If you do go /SR then Aid Self is not to be ignored, I've found it has saved me from faceplanting on several occassions on my Claws/SR Stalker who has his Defences maxed out.

Thing to remember with /Regen is that you are regenerating HP on a Melee AT with a low base HP, I find it somewhat trickier that a /Regen Scrapper to play.

Oh and MoG vs Elude, I think Elude wins that round boys and girls.
  4. I'll throw my Stalker into the mix for the Defiant team, although best stick me on a list of 'back up' people seeing as I usually work until around 9pm-ish and I dont know if I'll be able to get the 21st off work yet.

If there are some no-shows then feel free to give me a shout.
  5. Afraid I cant make it for 6pm or 7pm on Sunday due to work issues. If I'm lucky I can make it home in time for the Holding phase of the Hami Raid.

Good luck if you still go ahead with it, there should be less Heroes in RV making pests of themselves if the Hami Raid is on as well.
  6. I'm up for joining in on the fun for this one. I'm just a couple of Heroes short for the signature Heroes badge. Depending on the day/time I'll gladly help out with my Stalker.
  7. EM/SR sounds like a good combo in my book. Good ST Damage as well as a high defence giving you a good chance to get an extra AS in the middle of a fight.
  8. Congrats Ree, the Vindicators mission villain side had a 'hic-up' or two for your first ding.

The team for your 3rd ding Hero side was impressive right enough... there really should be rules against the sort of carnage we caused.

    Congrats again.

    New on Stalkers.

I PvP with my Claws/SR (admitadly casually) and Focus is a very helpfull tool for taking down the runaway squishies. And you are right, Claws does look good. Far better than its Heroic counterpart anyway.

Ninjitsu wins over Energy in my book as I'm not a fan of resistance for a melee AT that has a low HP.

Energy is location based defence, just like SR or ninjitsu, it only has an auto res power vs energy.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You are actually spot on. Energy Protection is the only part of EA that offers Damage Resistance, the rest is all Defense.

Excuse my brain fart... move along people nothing to see here. *whistles*

    New on Stalkers.

Claws have a widly resisted damage type (Lethal) so unless it fits in with your concept then might be best to avoid them if you plan on doing alot of PvP. That said I really like the Claws pool for PvE and casual PvP.

Ninjitsu wins over Energy in my book as I'm not a fan of resistance for a melee AT that has a low HP.
  12. People moaning about the use of insps in open PvP bothers me. Arena is a totally diffrent matter, you agree on what the limits are with your oppenent before you start the match

I dont see a problem with it. Use what ever means you can to get one over on the opposition. It is a long way away from being cheating.

My health drops, I'm popping a green. Low end? Time for a Blue. So on and so forth. Its not Cheating... anything goes.

In other words: "You are orange... I'll do what ever I can to make you eat concrete."
  13. Masterminds are most definatly viable in PvP. My Necro/DM does rather well in Siren's and Warburg, I'd got as far as to say that he far out-preforms my Stalker.
  14. /SR can be a an Endurance Hog, you get the total of 4 Toggles (Hide, Focused Senses, Focused Fighting and Evaision). Practiced Brawler, which is marked as a Self Click power, although you can get it to stack with the aid of either Hasten (from the Speed pool) or Quickness (/SR pool) and a couple of Recharge Reductions so in a way its 5 toggles if you put it on auto.

Messing around with combinations of diffrent power pools until you find the one that suits you is probably the best advice to offer though. Hope you enjoy playing a Stalker.
  15. Firstly welcome to the game, you'll enjoy it.

For a PvE based Stalker your looking good with the power pool's you mentioned.

/SR does lack a self-heal but you can make up for that by opening up the Medicine pool and taking either Aid Other or Stimulant followed Aid Self. /SR does have the highest Defence of the Stalker Secondary as well, although when you do get hit you take the full brunt of the blow as you have pretty much no Resistances.

/Nin is an other good set for a Stalker, Defensive based and has some nice tricks up its sleeve (Self Heal, Caltrops etc.) although it doesn't have any Knock back Protection so SJ as a Travel power is worth a look to give you access to Acrobatics (KB protection).

For Primaries, Claws have a fast recharge time and a couple of short ranged attacks (Focus, Shockwave) although they do deal a widely resisted damage type (Lethal)

The Pink Pom-Poms do some fantastic single target damage although its a power pool that personally I've never really got on with.

Ninja Blade also does Lethal damage which again is widely resisted but it does lower a target's defence with just about every attack from the pool.

DM has a few nice tricks up its sleeve as well with its -ACC.

Don't overlook the Fitness Pool as well if your running a few toggles.

Hope this helps a bit and I'm sure other people will be along shortly to weigh in with some more advice.
  16. I had a rather sucessfull duo a while back which was a Nin/Nin Stalker and a Ice/Ice Dom (This was before the Domination buffs). There is a higher chance of Critical Hits landing outside of Hide while a mob is held which comes in handy.

Other duoing combinations that I've tried are Fire/Kin Corruptor with a Claws/SR Stalker. After the /Kin gets SB plus the punch that Fire packs with its DoT side of things you'll fly through most missions.

As far as the Brute/Stalker Duo goes I've always found it to be a bit slow to be honest. There can be a fair whack of downtime in between groups (Power pool selections will of course vary the amount of downtime).

Mastermind/Stalker duos are excellent fun. A /SR Stalker with a /DM Mastermind using Darkest Night is another combination that will fly through alot of missions.

Hope you enjoy your first Stalker, one thing to remember of course is: "I am not a Scrapper, at least not till I either get to level 38 and then I can be a Scrapper for 3 minutes at a time, depending on my Power Pool selection OR my toggles are well slotted and my enhancements are green and that I have a realiable Buffer/Debuffer in the team who can save me when I redline."

Remember that and you'll be just fine.

    Recharges?

Depends on a few of things.
What Secondary Pool does your Stalker have?
    And what level is he/she?
    Travel Power selection (Hasten?)?

For example if your playing a /SR Stalker pre Quickness that will be a contributing factor.
If you dont have anything that will give you a +Recharge from your Secondary then I'd aggree with Chels (only cause she'll pelt me with Snowballs if I dont), throw in a Recharge redux for PvE play.
  18. Congratz mate, about time and well deserved.
  19. As I said in Coaltion Chat in the small hours of the morning. I'm taking a break from CoH/V. This break is planned to be a least a month long (If not more).

My plan is to return in a month or at the launch of i9 (what ever is first).

I've been playing CoH/V for nearly 24 months without a break so I feel that this self imposed exclusion from the game is more than warrented. Like I said I do plan on returning, but, if I dont then I would like to extend a warm 'Thank You' to: The surving members of 'The Usual Suspects' SG, the members of 'The House of Counted Shadows' VG, the 'Shades Of Vengence' SG, everyone on my Global friends list and all those who have had the pleasure or misfortune of teaming with one of my numerious alts (perspective is important ).

I hope all those who continue to play this game keep it what it is... A shed load of fun.

Have fun all and I'll see you in a few months. (If not before)
  20. I made mine after getting my Mastermind to level 40 in December just after CoV's launch as I was needing a new alt to play around with. Decided to give "That there Stalker malarky" a go. He started of as what I thought would be one of a few toons that I would play around with before settling on a main character to play until the level cap was raised to 50, at which time I planned to return to playing my Mastermind again.

That was 14 months ago. My Stalker has been level 50 for a fair while and my Mastermind has picked up 1/2 a level since i7 was launched.

I like playing Stalkers. I like the way that you need to be up close and personal to deal your damage and that you have a low base HP. Its a kind of "Fly by the seat of your pants" play style. I like them so much that I recently rolled another one that is currently sitting at level 12.
  21. Gratz Trix, another one for the collection
  22. For me /SR wins over /Regen.

/SR is a pretty tight build and I'd highly recommend getting Aid Self. In my opinion Defense wins over Resistance on Stalkers, your going to get hit no matter what power pools you choose, but with Defense from /SR or /Nin your chances of hitting an extra AS in the middle of a fight vastly improve. Plus /SR offers +Perception which helps a good deal in PvP and PvE, /Regen cant offer you this.

SR all the way for me.

    Well thats my 2inf anyway.
  23. Good to see that your doing more of these.

Keep it up, they really are some fantastic work.

    EM/SR Build

Sorry Trix old boy, Hammerfall is correct. The Rikti Drones will see you through Hide+Stealth and as far as I can remember so will the Knives of Artimas as well.
