They would need another Crisis/Zero Hour type event to erase Superman and all things connected to him from their universe:

    1. Superman
    2. Kal-el
    3. Krypton/Kryptonite
    4. Jor-el, Lara, Zod and any other Krytponians
    5. Supergirl and Superboy
    6. Krypto
    7. Daily Planet and all its characters
    8. LUTHOR
    9. The "S" shield
    10. Fortress of Solitude
    11. The monster DOOMSDAY

and who knows what else I'm forgetting. Picture all that going away if the creator estates win and decide to not strike a bargain with DC, that would really shake up DC and probably the industry as a whole. Then would come the question: who would get Superman? IDW, Dynamite, Marvel, Dark Horse?

SHAZAM/Captain Marvel would have to replace Superman if DC lost him.
If DC should lose they would keep most of the above. They would lose only what it was in Action comics n.1 and even the S shield was modified from what it was in AC 1 .The Superman of today is a totally different character from what he was in the golden age and Siegel and Shuster have nothing to do with it. Basically what DC should have to change would be the first name of Supie girl friend : she could not be called Lois but she could have the last name Lane.
By the way the original name of the member of the Superman and his father were Jor-l and Kal-l (the e was added later)

the irony is that the only character that you can create that has some likeness with the comic book original (and you need some tinkering around) is the Human Torch. A Marvel character!!!!

the last three letters (RPG)were rarely played from the producers and gamers themselves in the MMO industry. They were just a "you cannot give your character that name" but nobody cared about what your character was supposed to be so you had priests and other holy men that got assassination quests, warriors on healing quest and so on.

The system of DCUO is a simplified and slightly modified version of the Everquest game. In fact the DC universe that the game shows is the bizzarro-SOE version of it.

and style of play, that was by the way alike to the Marvel Alliance interface

I have noticed this in both CO and DC Online, so perhaps it's a standard MMO feature that COH did not adopt, but in those games if you leave the instance all the enemies you fought respawn. And in CO, at least, when you die the enemies regain full health.

Can make for a LONG night... o.0
In CO they consider the group of enemies, not the single guy: If before you died you killed every single member of the group you were facing they don't respawn, but if even one was left alive everyone will respawn and you will have to fight that whole group once again. In the alerts however that don't happens and the guys that you killed don't respawn

To me it's a superhero game, but you can play a wizard, a troll, a mad scientist, a fairy, a cowboy, a soldier, medieval warrior, a space man, or an alien. The character creator was NOT advertised the way it could have been.
On the other hand in the fantasy genre everyone has superpowers. Simply the origin of powers is magic instead of science.
Think of a mage, a paladin or even a plain warrior. They have powers and skills beyond the human range.
In fact WoW would be a excellent superhero game changing nothing except the environement that is seting it in the modern times instead of the medieval ones

Look instead at the MMOG market: there are only 3 superhero games , all three have gone free to play and one of them is about to close down and no company, so far like I know, is working to do a new one. How others have said there is a crisis in the MMOG market, even mighty WoW has lost players, and the ones that that would go down are, of course, the less popular genres

Blocking, for example. You don't block? You die. No questions asked. Either block or get stomped. Blocking doesn't let you attack, and I can't tell you just how much I hate having to sit there with the Block key held down waiting for 2-3 enemies to stop attacking long enough for me to get a shot in. I feel like all of my characters are constantly on the ropes with no opening.
Really ? You don't block and you die? I have 3 lvl 40 characters and the only istance when I blocked an attack was in the old tutorial when there was a quest that requested you to block to go on.Aside that if you stand idle your character will autoblock for you, you have a better chance of survival if you attack forgeting about blocking.
By the way there are healing and temporary invulnerability powers that work way better than blocking

The archetypes are just premade characters (with two powers slots less than freeforms)and they are not the best choice of powers and skill (no real player would create a character that way)The way to enjoy the game is to create a freeform character. Now even silver (free players )players can buy a freeform slot on the market.
What you would say about a girl that has superstrenght, invulnerability, fly,can shoot laser beams from the eyes and has superbreath ? That is one of my freeform characters not the cousin of that guy (okay i admit that i was inspired from her when creating that character lol )

Lets toss some numbers around for fun. CoH I understand makes $10 million /year. Even if they put time, effort, and money into marketing to say... double that.... you're looking at $20 million/ year. A lot to you and I, but not so to a company "worth" around $5 billion. Simply announcing the "sunset" of CoH... their stock surged 15%... thats an increase in their "value" of $750 million!!!!

Still can't wrap your head around them throwing away $10 million /year? Consider the most valuable thing to a software company.... the people. The people are the most valuable thing they have. Where we see a great team of Zwill et al and the community as a whole, they can see a waste of resources. Like having a goose that can lay golden eggs only pumping out tin. "They are only making $10 mil /year? They should be making $100 mil!" Already it seems they have found positions for the Paragon staff in new projects. Again.... an investment sacrificing CoH to better use the staff elsewhere.

    Let the trolling begin....
That is the point : if they would invest , let us say, 70 or 80 millions a year in CoH a 10 milion years income could be a worty investiment but I suspect they were investing in it much more.

If you chose the free form your first choice is the energy building power and the game explains you like it works . With the archetipes you don't get the explanation because the powers are preset but you do not really need it because by default the energy builder is an autoattack (you can disable it in the options menu but if you are able to do that you already have an understanding of the basic game) so you don't have to worry

the only thing I remember being told about in the "tutorial" was blocking. That is NOT MUCH. they don't tell you how to level up, I was in the tutorial and had no idea how to get out, or even when that would happen.
Since when in the old tutorial of CoH they told you how to get out or how to lvl? You had to finish the tutorial first

let us say that keeping your computer on cost you 10.000 dollars a day. Would you keep your computer on or invest your money somewhere else were you will get a greater profit than 100 dollars?

To sell something you have to find a buyer that would pay you the right price and contrary to the popular belief i believe that they would be happy to sell CoH if someone would put forward a serious offer for it
  16. The sad thing is when something that has a long history be it a comic book, tv serial or a video game announce that is about to close down there is usually a flood of players, readers, whatever that want to be there at the end, but that have no real interest if the game would continue. I am sorry to say this but the last day players don't mean much.
  17. the real point is not the profit that they did make but the profit in relation with the money that they invested. For example if they invested £100,000,000 and they got a yearly profit of £ 1,000,000 they should have to close down the game post haste before the stockholders would hang them. Why? Simple because if they would deposit the money in a bank they would get at least twice that amount of money with the yearly interest and without any risk.
  18. If the game would be saved i would be all joy and celebration for one day...and the next day: this here quest is bugged, this other quest is too difficult, you should have done it this way, the good old times when the hollows were the hollows...in a word the everyday stuff
  19. But really do you think that slandering GW2 would save CoH ? Really?
