Quote:No, having tailors to begin with was stupid. There should just be a /costume command. There really should be no complaint about travelling in CoH. We have travel powers. Most of the games you have to run everywhere, and sometimes at a very slow pace. But I don't think they've gone too far yet, except for making Trainers tailors, that was just stupid, and it makes no sense.

Better than a tabasco enema also, but still doesn't make it a positive thing. "Relatively good" isn't the same as "good".

I'd enjoy pouring hot coffee into my lap 6 - maybe even 8 - times in one night over running LAM once.
They created content that requires repetition until you want to vomit. Repeating 3 things a dozen times is no better than doing one thing 30 times. -
Quote:Only once. I had an idea and name for a character, but only discovered after starting the creator that I didn't have many costume options for my widow. I ended up just hitting random and then making up a name I hated based on the random colors I got. Eventually, I discovered you could use the later costume slots with more freedom and changed it back to the original name.Up for discussion: Have you ever changed a character name? Your global name? Your forum name? Any other names (besides from marriage)? What lead to the decision, and did you like the result?
I'll probably rename one later once I get a free transfer to free up room with two characters I currently have with essentially the same name. Getting rid of that stupid period will be nice.
Quote:Also, do you have difficulty getting people to pronounce your name(s) correctly? If so, how do you react?
Also, why wouldn't you just use the character's gender as the pronoun? -
In particular, they just did a wipe on beta this morning.

Quote:Thank god someone gives the real answer instead of just insisting you can always form a group. All servers have fewer people during work/school hours in US time. This will be even more true once more people are back in school.I play a lot on Pinnacle, and it's just a fact of life that people need to earn money and can't play computer games all day. For that reason, I've also created characters on Virtue and Freedom for those times when Pinnacle is less populated (running out of character slot also pushed me into it).
If you can only play during the day, then you will be able to do trials, but not every time you want to. Sometimes there won't be enough people willing or even available to do it. Even more often you will need to run them without full groups - which can be a problem if you are just starting out and don't have the level shifts.
Basically get on the server channels. Ask "anyone want to run a trial?" If you don't get an immediate response, then go do something else and try again later. Contrary to what some will insist, a desire to run does not make willing participants magically appear. -
I was deciding on the secondary to take on my new defender on the beta server. I got briefly excited that I would be able to slot achiles's heel on multiple attacks from Rad. Then I realized that would just be ghetto sonic and picked that instead. -Def is useful for including your vet attacks in your attack chain and after that becomes unnecessary, it's less useful.
For a defender Leadership is amazing. I don't have a 50 without at least one leadership toggle, and around half have all three. They are useless on speed runs, but if your group intends to actually kill things occasionally, I don't know of many powers that would be more useful.
Tactics is kind of weak for the same reason -def is, but is still handy if there are pets around. Plus you don't have to hit first to make yourself more able to hit. It's at the bottom of the list.
Maneuvers is strong on a defender and mediocre on anyone else. It also might become useless if there are enough other sources of def.
Assault is good on anyone and unless you have a kin around remains useful. -

You're playing one of the slowest solo AT (due to debt accumulation) and it takes more and more XP as you raise in level. But still, even with that, what you describe doesn't sound particularly slow in MMO terms.
-
You also slotted out physical perfection before health and stamina. Health and stamina have larger base bonuses, so give higher bonuses when slotted. Just because a power comes later in a build and requires a higher level doesn't mean that it's better. In particular, that is a power to take only when you have gotten what you can out of health and stamina and still need more.

Quote:I never experienced the slightest lag at any point during the weekend. Now, a Mothership raid is laggy at the best of times, so you don't get any sympathy there.I forgot to avoid DXP weekend. So I logged on my level 40 stalker in the hopes I could get her some levels in a Mothership Raid. The lag was so bad it was nearly unplayable, and I don't think I ever took damage -- or if I did, it was healed before it appeared on my screen. She got about six bars of xp. I didn't log on anyone else.
The devs use DXP weekends to test new server configurations. They should call them 'stress test weekends'. I used to stay far, far away from the game on DXP weekends, and I need to remember to do so in the future. -
Quote:If I am one of the first 6 people in a league, I expect the trial to start in no less than 45 minutes, more likely an hour. If I do not have at least an hour and a half to play uninterrupted, I don't even bother trying for a trial. As far as the trials, I'm not sure what the problem is. To me they're just another mission where you kill stuff, like any other mission in the game. And getting into a trial is very easy. Simply go to pocket D, and you'll most likely be able to find a trial within 5-10 mins. That's where everybody goes to organize them.

I have absolutely no question in my mind that CO would have more players if they had designed the game better. Of course, a poorly designed open game is worse than a well designed game with archetypes.
-
So, I'm hoping to finish leveling my elec/rad/psi this weekend, and I'm looking at World of Confusion. For the pros, it's another aura when I already have 2, so it fits playstyle. For the con, the mag is pathetic and I'm going to put the purple proc in Synaptic overload, there's not much I can do to make it better.
Is there a good reason to take it, or is it just wasted end? -
Quote:The PP you have right now are counterfeit. You're not going to be given nearly that many when the game starts. All purchases are for beta only.I am not sure if this has been asked, but I have question about purchasing from the Paragon Market in the Beta. Mainly, if we use PP to purchase the new power sets in the beta, will we get the points back to buy them when it goes live? Or once we buy it for the beta, will it be unlocked for the live servers once Issue 21 hits?

You don't think it's ambiguous, well, I just have this to say...
Mutation is nothing but a Natural that hasn't reproduced enough yet. -
-
That wouldn't be nice. That would mean the base values were lower and I would need to waste more slots on the power.
-
-
It's not even that useful for fleshing out given the arbitrary ambiguity of it. I don't know how many times I've sat there looking at an alien warrior thinking "well, at least I know it's not Magic".

First off, on Heroside, always run to the bank as quickly as possible ignoring anything on the streets. That buys some time. But other than that, it's all about kill speed. If you can't finish off the initial door guards fast, then you need to be able to survive both groups at once as you whittle them down.
Get a team or lower the difficulty, because there's really no trick. If you die after engaging the robber or the henchmen with the main robber, then you will probably fail. -
Quote:And really, we are just talking Judgment, and to a lesser degree Destiny and Lore. Even though they are significant bumps in power for certain builds, no one feels trivialized by Alpha or Interface. The content that really needs Incarnate level power gets Incarnate stuff at full strength. The content that the Incarnate powers at full strength trivializes? Well, they're not AT full strength for that. Maybe 50% - enough to see a noticable power bump, and yes it makes content easier, but enough that *non* incarnates dont' feel like they're given pity spots or aren't "powerful enough."
