  1. Oppressive Gloom and Cloak of Fear both have their pros and cons but I personally prefer Cloak of Fear.

CoF has high end cost and a terrorize effect is not as good as a stun. I prefer CoF for the -tohit property. For tougher enemies where fear and stun would do nothing, they at least get a penalty to hit.

I would not bother with the Fortunata chance to placate for the same reason Siolfir pointed out. I also wanted to add with the stalker changes coming in i22, placate would make your Assassin's Shock go from a speed-AS to a the slower setup-AS.

I like Soul Transfer. Not that I die often but when I do have the occasional faceplant, it is an instant 25' radius, auto-hit, mag 30 stun. I usually have all my toggles back up before the enemies snap out of it. I also like knowing even if I die, I still have a chance to save teammates who are about to follow me to the floor.
  2. Storm Kick has the best DPS in the MA set and is the better initial pick over Thunder Kick. They equalized Cobra Strike with Crane Kick if I remember correctly. SK and CS are great powers and both should be present in the end build but I would choose SK first.

One portion of it is suppressed so when using outside of sweeping combo, you only hit one target but the procs are trigged to PBAOE.

And the last time I checked, Stalker's Ablating cannot take -Defense set. Scrapper/Brute's can. Have they changed this recently? I forgot to check it when I was playing around with my old db build. I don't have my computer with me so I can't check it until next week.

The first time I tested Ablating, I was using chance for knock down. It works. A few days ago I was using chance for lethal damage from Mako set and it happens in pbaoe fashion. :P

Ablating just makes you not want to cycle Attack Vital combo which ties to two of the worst dpa attacks.
That's pretty crazy, I didn't know Ablating Strike work that way. Add PBAoE 33% chance to do moderate NE damage to my previous post. Does Vengeful Slice act the same way since it's the finisher for the Attack Vitals combo?

2 of the worst? Attack Vitals on stalkers takes the 3 worst DPS attacks in the set.

    Nimble Slash - 43.25
    Power Slice - 43.67
    Ablating Strike - 67.97
    Assassin's Blade - ?
    Vengeful Slice - 37.99
    Sweeping Strike - 71.63
    1000 Cuts - 41.84

One Thousand Cuts isn't the greatest but at least it can hit multiple targets. I am sure unhidden Assassin's Blade is the best DPS but I do not have the numbers for it. Superior damage in about 1.452s (Guesstimate).

And with enough recharge, you barely need to cycle power/nimble. You can simply do Ablating, Sweeping, Ablating (or vengeful) + AS and repeat.
I think you mean when Ablating Strike is used in a Sweep combo, any melee/def debuff procs slotted will roll for each target hit just like procs in a PBAoE power.

    Attack Chain: Ablating Strike-Sweeping Strike-Ablating Strike-(Build Up*)-Assassin's Blades-repeat.

    * Add Build Up in that spot whenever it is charged.

What I believe will be a stalker DB's strongest ST attack chain will/can have the following:

-An AoE cone every 4ish seconds (Sweeping Strike)
-A PBAoE knockdown attack every 30ish seconds (Sweep combo)
-A damage resist debuff proc in Ablating Strike (Achilles' Heel)
-A damage resist debuff proc in Sweeping Stike (Fury of the Gladiator).
-The potential for 2 BU'd Assassin's Blade criticals (chain is fast enough to have 2 Assassin's Blades within 10s)
-Stalker's Guile purple ATO set into Assassin's Blade (1st Ablating Strike in chain will have more criticals).
-Hecatomb (5/6) set in Ablating Strike (Adds 33% chance for moderate NE damage)
-Armageddon (5/6) set in Sweeping Strike (Adds 33% chance for moderate Fire damage)

The chain takes about 5.2 seconds (Without BU). Just beware with great speed comes great end cost...

I am currently set at +1/0 No AV's, and I do have Maneuvers, with 3 Def Enh IO's slotted. I know anything I slot that buffs my damage/defense/resistance has no effect on my pets... so is there any way to make my pets live longer?
I have not tried /Poison before so am not sure what it's strengths/weaknesses are but tier 1 zombies are weak vs lethal, fire and energy damage. The Freakshow's damage types are smashing, lethal and energy so your pets will take a beating often against them.

Get your +def/dam resist pet auras (Edict of the Master, Sovereign Right, Expedient Reinforcements and Call to Arms). I usually have all 4 when my MM's reach level 27.

Slot an Achilles' Heel proc into Grave Knight. Most of the GK's attacks has a -def property so the proc will be rolling often. Can also slot a Cloud Senses proc into Lich as all attacks except 1 has a -tohit debuff.

Use Soul Extraction and summon your Wraith (Tier 3 Lich) at the start of your mission. They last for 5 minutes and you can often finish the mish before it disappears when running at +1/0.
  6. I have been playing around on my stalker and enjoying the changes so far. With my existing recharge, created a chain that seems to be working well with AS integrated. Fight a Rikti Pylon, you will see the difference.

  8. Check tabs 1, 2, 3 and 4 to see if the Chat tab was accidentally moved there.

If not, you may have accidentally deleted the Chat tab (easily done with a right click, delete tab). To get it back:

-Click an empty NUMBER TAB (1, 2, 3 or 4)
    -Click ADD TAB
-Type CHAT into the "Enter Tab Name Here"
-Add the channels from the Available Channels List. Typical channels listed are: Coalition, Broadcast, Emotes, Friends, League, Leveling Pact, Local (Default), Private Messages, Supergroup and Team. I also recommend Consignment House for when you buy/sell something, Hero or Villain Zone Events and Request/Auction.
    -Click OK
-Click, hold and drag newly created tab to lower window.

    I hope this helps.

I collected the plaques/badge markers so many times that I have them memorized. If anyone wants to do a Paragon City tour to get all relevant plaques/markers for the AM, FPRM and PJ accolades, let me know. It would take about 20 minutes as long as everyone has a travel power. Recall Friend, Assemble Team, Ouroboros portal, WW TP or Pocket D TP would be gravy.
  10. It's tough to say without seeing your planned build as we do not know what you really need. Checkout the Intuition Radial Alpha. Enhances holds (Bruiser, Petrifying Gaze, Dark Servant), damage (Thugs, Gang War), slow (Tar Patch), defense debuff (Enforcers), tohit debuff (Darkest Night, Fearsome Stare, Dark Servant) and range (several secondary powers).
  11. Great run today, finished Sister Psych and Katie Hannon TFs. Both went very smooth. I was a little bummed I forgot to raise the difficulty for the KHTF. Everyone probably would have gained an extra level or 2 if I did. Even the final Mary MacComber at level 37 was a breeze, would have been more fun if they were all consistently 38.

I propose we run it again this weekend and knockoff the Citadel or Manticore TF as well.
  12. The endurance cost for Combat Jump is low (0.07 e/s), slotting 2 end redux is kind of a waste while Targeting Drone is more than 11 times the end cost (0.78 e/s).

Check all your recipe drops while playing to see if they will work with any of your attack power picks. Craft and slot whatever is useable. Disregard IO set bonuses and just go for the power buff percentages. Out of the 4 main buffs (acc/dam/end/rech), in most cases, 3 of the 4 will be higher than just using straight SO's.

Softcap defense is great. If you are not planning to achieve it until much later, just build defense to 32.5% in M/R/A. Visit contacts, AE building, hospitals, auction house to stock up on small purples in between missions. That would save 6 slots that can be used to fully slot your attacks for more damage or end redux.

    Knockback protection needed.

Ablating Strike is a good power pick. Same cast time as Nimble Slash; more damage than Power Slice. The DB combos on stalkers probably makes it less attractive right now but when i22 hits, pick it up. Assassin's Strike becomes uninterruptible, the Sweeping combo (BU-AS-AB) will be pretty handy.

  13. Here are a couple of links that might help you out.

Obitus posted a great StJ and MA comparison. It has several atack chain calculations for StJ DPS. I recall SB-RC-HB-SB-CU-repeat as being the best ST chain but needs 300+% recharge in CU. Other chains that required significantly less recharge, the DPS was not much lower:

    http://boards.coh.com/showthread.php?t=276359

Beber has created an app to calculate max DPS.

    http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=279838

I believe FM's best attack chain is Inc-Cre-GFS-repeat.
  14. I unlocked the Katie Hannon TF and would like to try an all MM run. It's lvl 30-34, 9 merits. Great xp for such a short TF (4 missions). The KB will be annoying but with all the Tactics, we should not have a lot of trouble hitting.

Is there a way to release a single pet? I only know /releasepets but of course that drops all of them.

    StJ/SD questions

Skip Initial Strike. A good builder chain can be made with Heavy Blow, Rib Cracker and Shin Breaker.

Skip either Sweeping Cross or Spinning Strike. Having 3 Finishers is excessive IMO. SS is a better attack but SC takes better IO sets.

Battle Agility, Active Defense and Grant Cover all add to DDR. GC is a set amount and not enhanceable. AD needs a good recharge, down to about 60 secs, so that it's DDR effects can stack. Try slotting Enzyme Exposures (end/def deb) and maybe add a Membrane Exposure (rech/def). It is pretty tough to get DDR to 95% without spending a lot of slots. I have 88% and it seems to work out well for me.

They would be quite easy IMO. I do want to try an all MM Lambda. We would not collect acid or grenades and just beat Marauder down. I think we would be successful at that too.
  18. I vaguely remember reading DPS for a claws stalker is horrible due to the lack of Follow Up. SR is pretty solid IMO but with Ninjitsu being able to easily reach softcap def, a self-heal and other tricks, several stalkers go that option instead.

I do not know if you have limitations for the build such as cost, power picks etc but here's my recommendation. It has softcap def, cap hit points (until i22), a heal and good recharge for whatever attack chain you come up with. Ninja Run as a travel power, toggle Combat Jump on before engaging in a fight. Decent endurance with AM and PJ accolades. T4 Musculature Radial Alpha would work well. If you get Rebirth, drop the Medicine PP/Mu Mastery PPP for Recall Friend/Blaze Mastery.

Costs about 1.5 billion influence but significantly cheaper if you can get the LotG 7.5s, Numina/Miracle procs with astral/reward/alignment merits. Around 600 million if that is the case. Also there are around 25+ different recipes this build has that you can attain with Bronze rolls using AE tickets. If you go both those routes, this build will cost around 300 million.

  19. The newer itrials, like the older ones, needed a period of adjustment. Time for players to test them a few times, learn the tricks, discover what works for them and what doesn't. Time for leaders to make binds with accurate instructions. TPN and MoM are pretty simple now and I do not think I have failed either since the first week they went live. UG trials, non-badge runs, take roughly 30-40 minutes to complete (Before it was an hour).

UG awards 60 bonus threads after defeating the Lichen Infested Warwalker; TPN awards 60 bonus threads after defeating Maelstrom the second time. The UG guarantees a Rare or VR reward table as long as you are participating in the trial from start to finish (I believe disconnects can ruin that).

I prefer TPN over MoM. MoM is just like 5 straight AV battles, each with a small trick. Battle 1, avoid psychic burn patches; battle 2, getting EotS to AV; battle 3, defeat AV while protecting/healing Aurora; battle 4, beat AV 3 times before she reaches the well; battle 5, defeat AV within 3 mins. TPN seems to require more teamwork which I enjoy.

I think I'm rambling... There is no trial that is so horrible that it should be avoided. Just read the guides and follow instructions set by the league leader and I know you'll do great in all. Some of it will be confusing but when you do the itrials, it will make sense.

Vorpal Judgement can be good if you need the temporary +defense but I would sooner go with any of the others if that is not the case. Incandescence Destiny, I have not found a worthwhile use that would make me choose it over the others.

Among Interface, Reactive is still a solid choice but I have heard good things about Degenerative (-Max hp debuff/minor toxic damage). All the new ones has a damage secondary effect. Some minor; some moderate (I believe some minor damage powers got a 30% damage buff recently). I think it falls down to what you would like for the primary effect (Immobilize, confuse, end debuff etc). And I am still rambling...
  20. Yeh, Babbage was a joke. You could see the his health bar steadily draining from full to null. I think we took him down in 40 seconds.

Will MMs ever get Kinetics for a secondary? Fulcrum Shift would be great but I want it to see 48+ pets running around with SS-like speed.

What's on the agenda tomorrow, Sister Psych TF?

That calculation only accounts for a proc vs a damage SO. Due to ED, procs will pull ahead when Blazing Aura is 6 slotted. To try to maximize the damage potential of auras, slot 3 acc/dam HamiOs and 3 procs (Eradication, Obliteration and Armageddon). If the the build already has an insane amount of +tohit/acc bonuses, slot 2 damage IOs and 4 procs (Scirocco). Endurance would need to be factored into the overall build to makeup for BA's end cost.

One thing I like about adding procs to auras is the chance to proc immediately after leaping into a group. My Spines/DA, the moment he engages, has a 20% chance to do about 1600 pts of bonus damage (Divided randomly among each target) within 2 seconds. It kills several minions, possibly crippling lieutenants, adds extra damage on bosses. That's just for rushing in and having the toggles on.

On average, HamiOs and procs in an aura will do more damage than a full set of IOs. I don't think I would use a lot of procs in Burn, one maybe 2 max. I feel it is a "go to" attack power that can decimate hordes of critters. Slotting HamiOs/procs would produce more damage than an IO set in a 1 vs 1 application but slotting Burn with recharge allows you to stack it more often which will give you more damage over time.

    DB/DA build help

Just the initial slot in Superior Conditioning/Physical Perfection with a Performance Shifter proc added to each will give you almost the same amount of endurance you currently have now (Each PF proc adds about 0.2 end/sec). It would save 4 slots that can be used elsewhere. I recommend:

-1 slot in Ablating Strike for an Achilles Heel proc. It will have a chance to dam res debuff all targets if used in the Sweep combo.
-2 slots in Dark Regeneration. To increase it's recharge, accuracy, heal and end reduction.
-1 slot in 1000 Cuts. For an extra Eradication IO to cap your hit points to 1606.

If you do not plan to slot or use Laser Beam Eyes, drop it for Hasten. Just a single recharge IO and use it when you need it to help BU and DR recharge faster.

You will have a chance to proc every 5 seconds if activated in the mish. If your toggles are activated outside of the mish, all the toggles "zero" and immediately proc at the same time as soon as you enter and every 10 seconds afterwards.
