  1. well, lets see if i remember.
for rian, jeremy piven at full speed would fit him well. much cg would be needed and if i recall i had ray park doing his fight scenes, jony jaa would also fit due to rian's multi-stylistic approach to fighting.

for seraph blue, singer/actress jaci velasquez kind of fits her look and demeanor

for violet tendencies..i'm thinking gina gershon. padding would be needed, but she could pull off the snarky funny better.(quasadu has reminded me, christina hendricks would look the part of vio well, not sure if she does comedy, or at least a funny character type, though)

for dire worg, he would be heavy cg again but rapper dmx actually has a good angry-raspy voice.ron perlman would also fit the usual bill of the nasty sounding big guy.

lady bizzybee would definitly be aisha tyler, both for look and sense of humor.

while i have no idea if she could act, Nicole Scherzinger would be a physical fit for atomic angel.

vendace could be played by yanyin vanmistananda (from chocolate) for a smaller female character that can conceivably kick butt.

for weather bug, i see a slimmed down anthony anderson playing up his humor and look well.

thats all i can think on for now

i'll admit, this is a concern to my heroic demon mm who is trying to fight protean, she knows to dodge the stupid power siphon, but getting the stooges to get back in time is painful.

i think that would be how it would happen, maybe i'm missing something, but all the games that transitioned to f2p that i remember have gone with a dual tiered option at least. i would expect if coh went f2p it would be the blended model, we aren't some cookie cutter Korean freemo, for me the sub would stay so i'd see nothing different.
  4. if you could post some shots of the boxers, my mother used to show them and i'm still a huge fan of the breed(if you look it up, back in the 70's(72 i think) newport was the one that went the farthest and was there). i have defected to a poodle now, but its still the first and foremost breed for me.
  5. I'ts an interesting idea, i like it. I hope it is monitored well enough to make sure a few bad apples dont make a mockery of it, but yeah, i will sign on as a helper..but one thing i'm making sure of is if i am fuzzy on something, i'll toss it to the other helpers, better to be sure than to guess and be wrong. hope this works, will make things really nice for new players.

thematically, coh didnt fly in korea(no pun intended), superheroes as we know them arent a big thing in korea/china, a city of manhwa(think thats how you spell the korean manga equivalent) would get me subscribing, but one that would have any chance of bringing in revenue like "that game" would have to be significantly different than what we are playing now.

ad ya know, f2p doesnt exactly hold the terror to em that it does to some. it kind of is the market for mmos that are not the big gorilla, so long as i can maintian my expereince unhindered for staying a monthy subscriber, i'm cool with opening up the game to f2p, just keep me gold, i'm paid till the middle of next year. f2p meant something different back in the day, things changed, the market changed.

Missing estimates is bad. Typically when that happens, people lose jobs to make up the difference. City of Heroes is in a unique spot for NC Soft. They like it because it gives them a US foothold (just like Guild Wars) and is a stable money maker (just like Guild Wars). The numbers you see for games like Linage aren't expected for CoH. Different market.

Subscriptions, I estimate, are around 45k. Again, stable for the past several years and impressive considering new competition. People are playing and they're playing a lot. You have to remember we're divided up between a lot of servers, zones, play times, and instances. Server loads are reflecting players, even if you feel like you can't get a team.

There's no doom for the game in these figures. We might lose some more staff, which is never good.
lets not forget that another gigantic game released its expansion in december too. i wish the numbers were higher, but so far coh has had 2 "killers" marginally affect revenue and the 800 lb gorilla drop 3 expansions on its head it, while diminished, still is fairly stable.as my friend pointed out to me, this is the first quarter this year that didnt have gr preorder cash possibly factored in (lets face it, we are all guessing here) its still solid. i suspect more boosters may come, they seem to have some meat on their bones.

EDIT: ooops, eiko is right, i forgot how long dc was delayed, ah well, one in genre competitor and one out of genre giant, i suspect that that while the game is not in our genre, the expansion was still a big concern to every mmo, and the relatively unchanged nature of the revenue indicates that it didnt sit on us.
  8. reminds me a lot of that sci-fi game by bioware which i cant name, the second one.
  9. or in this case, a star-destroyer. ahem

and yes, there are of course a few options this could point to. a zone in another country (japan would make me squeal) or even a lost world type setting. some underwater content, perhaps related to merluna and the coming storm, or it could just be that , like the vanguard suddenly went from theoretical to real in issue 10, and the ppd became a real element in issue 8, perhaps the military will now be used as a plot introduction element for larger scale stuff.
  10. its really an intercontinental ballistic Allen wrench. you WILL be adjusted.

alt joke: on my signal, unleash hex.

not seeign rudeness, maybe some slight edge, but do you really think your posts and those of the equally strident solo-only players lack a similar or more aggressive edge?

  13. well, i have 3, rian frostdrake- ma/sr/body scrapper, he went cardiac, is at uncommon level. got on 2 stfs with no issues
seraph blue- emp/elec/elec defender, went spiritual, at very rare
finally violet tendencies, plant/thorn/scorpion dom, went spiritual, at uncommon. shes a rogue, so she got to put a rhododendron up LR's @##%

thats all my 50's, havent had time to do any coh this week, will likely get into it on the weekend, i'm not really feeling pressed to get past rare, the level shift is really the pot of gold, beyond that its just a small incremental bonus over ed on a shotgun blast of modifiers. will probably get it with rian for completions sake, and with sera, because playing an emp(though by no means amazing) tends to get you on teams

my guess is that the <redacted> pack hinted at would not be the next one so getting people worked up over it now would just serve to deflate the enthusiasm over the enxt few packs (maybe a steampunk-victorian one or a supernatural Gothic one?) that said, when they get around to the <redacted> pack i will be so <redacted> excited that i will <redacted> my <redacted> over it. will also buy it in an instant.
  17. no ss for scrappers?...tell us what you did with evilgeko NOW.

oh and dark assault is something id love for dom, that and them finally figuring out how to put together a dark control set. with gw supposedly being the dom patron, having her powers entirely dissimilar to playable doms seems silly.

well, kinda, if you read all the way down, for boys its less effective. not detrimental, just kind of neutral. the effect seems exclusive to girls. better than neglect though.

you honestly dont see why excessively hyperbolic statements like this are stupid? there is no server "full" of catgirls, one server has a reputation for having several players with catgirls, it is not full by any reasonable means, and furthermore, the standard catgirl you see (outside of thsoe doing homage to the batman/spiderman characters) is more an anime thing than a furry thing, the nekomimi is generally a human looking girl with a cat tail, cat ears placed on the top of their heads and maybe fangs when smiling, thats it. its a stylized art thing but by no means what one would really consider "furry", its otaku. by definition werewolves are far more "furry" than that, since they are fully animalistic, rather than just wearing 2 cute accessories.

look, civilization is rife with uses of animals to exemplify specific virtues associated with them, sneaky people are "Snake-like, lions for bravery, wolves for fierceness, dogs for loyalty, dragons for power and majesty, et cetera, its not some silly subculture that a group of morons on the internet decided they would act excessively stupid about, its something indelliably woven into our cultural dna. Rather than making asinine assumptions of people's motivations based on a few idiots online, look at the full cultural backdrop of things, you will be better informed and less likely to make a fool of yourself.
