Quote:ya know, when i read the news last night, you were the first person to hop to mind. "somebody's going to be happy"Shh don't tell anyone, but I would do a lot more than go talk to an NPC to avoid this problem. I would fight Trapdoor, Ebil Honoree and that Vanguard punk Honoree pals around with in the Incarnate arc all at once, to turn that **** off.
Take a jaunt to turn that off? Hell, I'd Walk from under the Atlas statue to the far end of the Storm Palace WITH NO JETPACK to turn it off. I'm down with it, no complaints here. Thanks Devs.
just had a very silly thought, but i see a sudden meta-logic in this. to indicate that you want no effects, you have to be unable to disprove null's hypothesis -
i have seen them, long ago i even popped in to disagree with that mindset. you dont stop jerks by becoming one.
-
i will call it now by its true name, the one given to it by its people.
lindaaaa
what a magical lady. -
again you miss the point, the whiners are so derided because thats all they ever did, scream and yell childish insults, which is a bit better description of it than being "blunt", had they EVER been convincing or level headed, they wouldn't have caused zone-outs.

im guessing a a significant amount of perspective is needed to find where rational valid concerns were voiced in a productive fashion from the current crowd that assaults any thread about new incarnate content is posted. perhaps youc an link to a post that preceds the hyperbole and name calling of the developers? because in multiple threads currently running, im seeing the opposite, and that is why the issue is polarized. i initially fought against endgame but kept an open mind and avoided over the top comparisons that do nothing but demonize people who disagree with me. What im seeing from several posters, and yes, this includes you, is not that kind of behavior. and thats why i and many others simply are going to tune you guys out, because you simply go too far. The extents to which you exaggerate make your statements rationally untenable.

Quote:when terms like torture and dick-move come out of the woodwork, its hard to consider the discussion still in a civil direction. So because people have ONE gripe with the issue, most of whom are saying the rest of the issue is good (As I said love the new selection of Lore pets and the changes to Forcefield may actually get me playing my Bots/FF namesake again), they're now whiney cry babies.
Yeesh you people don't do things by halves do you. -
Quote:squid, look at the names, its always the same, it will be the same for i21 and 22, regardless of what is in them.Wait, wait, wait. Wait.
So not only do we get a new incarnate trial, we also get Rikti, Nemesis, AND FREAKIN' RULARUU PETS, the coolest dang armor I have ever seen in the game, a pixel and SONIC RAINBOOM AURA, and group area buffs?
Okay, two things.
Number 1: SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Number 2: Seriously, all you people who seem to be emerging from the woodwork right now to say how much this game is horrible, and the dev team should feel horrible. What are you smoking? -
we will see, you seem a great deal more confident making absolute predictions than i am. though for the sake of balance, yeah the end/rec or effectiveness would have to change, that just makes sense.

funny thing about luck. people who decry a system tend to almost always wind up being "unlucky" whereas people who are willing to give the system a go tend to not have these problems. makes you think something other than luck is at play, no? never been lucky myself, but on my 2 mains already at t3 on all 4 powers, before i even have 2 of them unlocked. now very rares really dont entice me to go for in the short term, so as long as you can get the level shifts, i consider the power at its expected peak.
-
well, if its fun, there's that. plus, baf can be kinda skimpy on ixp, so there's that too.Quote:eh, basic coordination is needed on the prisoner section, it has happened that a few people not quite minding their task have lead to failed bafs. What in the world does this have to do with the perceived level of challenge in each trial? Also, I would say it's not so much that BAF is easier, rather than it's far, far harder to screw up. People understand "kill enemies, fight AVs" but plenty of threads have proven that "use temp power" completely and utter throws some players.

ok liking a lot of the stuff. am going to have to start saving a-merits now, haven't cashed in any e-merits, but i get the feeling a full set is going to cost me. and a new costumes set that isn't in a booster, i am happy, not getting into anything else about it, but overall i can live with it without disappointment. the buff changes are intriguing, still wished they affected the caster too, but one step at a time.
oh,, and the rainbow aura pic...that looks kinda familiar wink wink, seems i saw that somewhere a month agoyeah, i bought it there, and im going to unlock it here too.
you would do this to me after i made my lore pets for my mains already, wouldnt you :P i suspect that ill be making some new lore sets very soon.
overall a good bit more than i expected for a mid issue, good costume stuff, now please keep it going, makes boosters feel less questionable if we start seeing included costume pieces in issues again.
me=happy -
within reason, both. trials definitly have the concise aspect down for fun, served as they are in half hour increments of densely packed beat downs, i like that, but tfs have appreciable variety and some nice unique maps.
actually kind of prefer small group/soloing, but im pretty much down for whatever, trails and tf's just give me less time to mess around with my music player. -
you didnt check it out on test? yeah there is what someone called a riding skirt in it, goes down to the ankles by being basically tacked to the legs, now, its center is basically bare, so you would most likely use tights of some sort under it if you dont want a breeze, but it looks pretty good. its in the teaser vid too, the woman with the dual pistols is wearing it. im planning a few character redesigns when it hits live form non steampunk chars. paired with tights and boots, kind of reminds me of orihime's white outfit from bleach when she was kidnapped.

Quote:I really hate the very mindset of that. nobody is slighted, you play for fun, if you worked to get a 50, then you should have not subscribed, and instead you should have done something that didnt feel like work. i did get in that mindset back then, and i nearly dropped the game because of it, 47-50 was hell, and it was my own fault. i find the more relaxed mindset of now a massive improvement. making more open things makes the game more inclusive, we weren't, and still aren't, a hardcore loot raid game, mindsets of that nature belong elsewhere. they will not find happiness here..... never felt "slighted" in the least. And I had Khelds unlocked in I4.
(And really - as far as VEATs go - not fond of them, particularly. Really felt rushed, given the storylines available to Khelds, and to me the veats are just not that interesting.)
and as for veats, yeah the story isnt that great, though i did like the concept of forging your own destiny, outside of being chosen for it, but damn soa's and wids are fun. if there were a decent kick move for non ma characters, id have rerolled rian and just switched sides as a wid, they are amazing. and groups of them make for steamrolling.Quote:I vaguely remember some sort of message when I hit 50 - I never paid any attention to it thoughand wids are amazing.
(explaining the joke, a number of my vills have made redemption stories to become either rogues or heroes) -
finished working on some auction house stuff, then heading out to supper.

with the wrist blades and some sort of large glove for overlapping, the first steampunk character i had was a claws stalker.

for years now. get the right build, check the guides, ask people like werner or billz about great builds, cash up and get some ios, and boom, pre purples people were doing that. hell, repeat offenders were punting the game around for a long time now. really mmos are about knowing the game mechanics and finding the most optimized ways to interact with them, always have been, we are stronger now, but we went from being fedor emilinko fighting woody allen to being him fighting miley cyrus.

Quote:i have been doing that joke for over 10 years, a new coworker recently got it, i was ecstatic.

i dont think he was really complaining, in fact based on his own comments, hes more looking for fellow runners to high five and see if he can squeeze a little more speed out of his runs.
I recall when issue 20 went live and there was much wailing and gnashing of teeth about how the trials were too hard, the new powers allowed players to master that difficulty, new stuff will come that will probably be harder, and in time players will master that too. the old content is a lot easier, no question, but hardcore purple slotters already were grinding that up, i rather enjoy the current feel of seeing imperious or an aspect of rularuu and throwing down a cosmically amped up beating on him, its kind a fun. I'm no min maximizer so im not generally yawning through +4 X8. power that i dont need to maintain a spreadsheet for is fun, ya know? i still run with pugs, and difficulty still exists from occasional contrasting play styles(though since my pugs are all from my main server, most of us have been on the same page and done great things), but for the most part, the incarnate stuff was there to make us more powerful, just like even when ssk'd down, level 40 stuff is less challenging to a level 50, its progression. -
Quote:i fully support the second point and didn't understand the first one.I actually wrote this huge response to this thread, and then the forum did its authentication hiccough thing and I lost it in my browser. So I'm going to give the extremely brief version:
1. How I would do it is I would examine the value proposition of the current game, design a plan that carefully charted the base/ala carte distinction, and then create a roadmap for the overall expansion of the game that provided a specific demonstrable improvement in the current subscriber's game experience and an incentive for non-subscribers to invest financially and psychologically via in-game reward earning and accumulated financial investment status reward feedback.
2. I would kill the forum code monkey in charge of this piece of crap board and sell his soul to Satan in exchange for a well-received free to play launch and a box of chicken mcnuggets. And if Satan doesn't have dominion over the MMO gaming space, two boxes of chicken mcnuggets and a coke. -

while i have made several suggestions, if we are still following the sorta timeline discussed with dave way back in the day, supernatural/gothic would be next on the list. no guarantees of course, but it would follow the pattern(if nobody does by the time i get home from work, ill link to it, heading out the door now)

Quote:thats the one good thing about soloists. they can never get it together enough to leave en masse, can they?Um, the problem with that, is that it's the exact same content for people that are anti-social and unwilling to adapt or get along. The game survived for most of its life before the incarnate system, so your argument is proven false already.
(yes, its a joke, calm down)
