thanks dechs, i was goin to make a similar post, but there's a 50/50 chance the forum would eat my post, so ill just say that soon will be a good time to really prove our label as a helpful community. cant wait to see some more new players, and blind half of them with my outfits. i can be a mentor and a cautionary tale about proper accessorizing.

additionally, those who preordered gr also got the dp and demon summoner sets availaible well before launch, so we have enjoyed some benefits far longer than that. plus, those who pre-ordered but did not qualify for the loyalty beta or vet beta still got to influence the flow of gr, something people whole waited did not. if youa re cool with waiting, cool, but i prefer to have the new content when it is available, not a year to a year and a half later.

Quote:two things first @#$%ING AUTO LOG OUT!Now the idea of how we'd get more stuff in this system makes sense to me.
Excellent examples! If one aspect of development can be finished by a team more quickly than another team's aspect, they don't have to wait for their items to be lumped together before being released...
Hmmm...
second thing, which is a more condensed version of what i had just typed before..well, point one. there is a precedent of a similar game using a similar system and this far it has lead to huge benefits for people who maintain their current subscription style. it also indicates a model for pricing where extra points, while not able to get everything, will cover the majority of non-consumables. we already did pay extra for consumables under the current system (respecs, more ma slots) so i suspect that if they have followed a similar situation, this will work out to the strong benefit of continued subscribers. -
I dunno, we have had the free trials for some time now for destructive twits who just want to long in and get "lols". how much more are we expecting the restrictive nature of what channels free players can post in to enable determined jerks that they cant already do? yeah there may be a short lived spurt of idiots that follows the new f2p caravan to defecate on as many games as their little brains can handle, but since another game is going f2p and has naked boobs and pvp griefing,n it in a roughly similar time frame, i expect that to hold their attention longer and for the unpleasantness to dry up about as quickly as it did the last few times we got waves of spammers and idiots.

ok, is this where we go into the animated tails and new costume slot for tails to open them with more costume options and two flavors of incarnate armors or is this just being snarky?
-
rapture...no noobs or gold spammers, only paying man!
(calm down, its intended to be ironic) -
Quote:for once, we are in agreement. just got home from work, so just digesting the details, but im staying put. the vip server will only be used if i start to feel all alt-y again. The 'VIP' servers, to my mind, are the escape for all the Elitists and down-their-nose lookers who would just alienate genuine nice players and others and stop them adding to the game.
Good riddance, I say. I'll be waiting on Union to welcome the next batch of RPers. -
Quote:I am in uncharacteristic agreement. i keep hearing about how touchscreen media players will make dedicated gaming consoles, particularly handhelds obsolete, and at least for the near future, i dont see it. it would require a re-conceptualization of control and ui to play a "real" game like skyrim or zelda, or a fast paced action shooter that requires both analog sticks and buttons just to play, that im just not seeing the current generation of. maybe in 10 or so years, but id say touchscreen exclusive gameplay is in its "atari 2600 controller" stage at present. and yes, i have a ds and have played some touch screen heavy games, i have always gone back to whatever button controls have been offered.Personally, I detest touch screen technology with a passion. It's not comfortable for my hands, it leaves horrid smudged fingerprints all over the screen and I don't feel it's superior to a keyboard in any way. Tablet games made specifically for it, that's fine, I guess, but I still prefer a more traditional control scheme.

Quote:enough with the "you americans" schtick, i have known him since he was on "who's line is it anyway" way back when clive anderson ran it and it was funny.Bah you Americans!
It's the British comedian Eddie Izzard.
Very funny comedian thank you very much.so some of "we americans" know him quite well.
as per the high number of "fanserivce" bits for females, not a disputed opinion, though considering the source material, cant exactly say it is untrue to it. heck, most of the steampunk outfit can be used to recreate the pic dave put up before of the "lady mechanica" comic, so its not as though it is significantly more revealing than most mainstream comics. and shall we get into anime and manga's outfits? -
i recall discussing this with marcian some time ago, but a potter mmo would actually be a very good idea. heck, wizardry 101 is already a proof of concept, and tying it in with a successful franchise..i see it working. It would be really nice if it included more than jsut hogwarts, the other houses from the tri wizard tourney could work as factions without getting too back-stabby. even better if you could be part of the non-affilliated non humans(pity dragons in hp dont appear to be sentient).

for my never going to actually be finished ae arc about nightmares, i was thinking of using something similar, so blllz did the proof of concept for me. reminds me of julia from hellraiser 2.
i remember sam had a slime girl, wonder if he used it colored green for her. would probably have a good effect. -
one thing that i think people discount unfairly is that costumes were more than just costumes now. weapon customization, power customization and animation customization are also part of the mix as well. technically they would be handled by different departments, but if my understanding of how game companies work, most of the art department has skill in a number of disciplines and can work between departments.
I suppose the reason i dislike these discussions is what has already been shown, they turn accusatory right away. the bottom line is we simply do not know what the internal stories are in paragon studios, but we make the most hostile accusations, that they are withholding costumes from us just so they can charge us for them later, largely out of ignorance. and that ignorance can lead to cynicism and eventually to people leaving with a bad taste in their mouth not because of anything that was actually done, but because of insinuation and bitterness. -

Quote:17 had animated tails, as well as tails in their own slot. of limited use to some, but since previously tails were gated from martial arts robes, togas, any belts and even the pay natural booster, getting them was, to this dragon themed martial artist, an opening of several magnitudes for costumes. No they aren't. Call the SPCA!
1. We still have no ARMORED STEAMPUNK BOOTS.
2. We still haven't seen anything from the "All Things Art" threads other than pay for material.
3. The new iArmor parts are good looking but are still gated content.
4. We didn't get any free costume parts in the last, what 2-3 Issues?
issue 18 was basically going rogue- you either bought the pack or not, same as issue 6 or issue negative 0.
issue 19 had the alternate animations for several ranged powers. not costumes, but customization options nonetheless. -
dunno if it was indicative of the day i was having at work, but "club him like a harp seal" made me laugh like an idiot.
-
Well, i'll never say no to more costumes, its why im here, its why i stay.
-
only ran it once, but we beat him very easily, we did have a good number of debuffers (i had my sonic cold defender) though, and a full team, i was unaware you could run it with a smaller group, but my rule of thumbe is, if you run the minimum number, i try to run with maximum level.

i sense a sudden closeness.

Quote:well, i guess that wanders into some strange semantics when one looks at an abundance of choice as an anti-choice, but you know, harsh as it sounds, some time, removing the choice of someone, particularly someone who may be unfamiliar with a facet of the game, to screw up and miss a defining characteristic of the game i.e.inability to take a travel power because you want all your prim/sec/epic powers, is beneficial because it protects them from ruining their game.call it hand holding or whatever, it happens and it is justified by reality. so they make sure you have the number of slots, even if it may cramp a meta-concept by making you take a power of some sort, even if you just bin it and maybe slot a io.I know it seems an odd request and I usually do want some sort of Pool Power, it's just until I really didn't that I noticed that I didn't have a choice. I do see the benefit of being able to select a pool power, just not the benefit of "having" to take one.
the biggest problem i see is that if you give all players the same number of available powers, there is simply no way to give people who want some looseness in their build to take most of their prim/sec/epic and still have some variety and also support the ones who want that meta-purity, the math doesn't work out. so you have to look at who is inconvenienced less, people who are cramped build-wise, or people who take a dog power or so, but still can keep an effectively concept pure character. and looking at those options, the person binning 2 powers simply is less inconvenienced than someone who is straitjacketed by overly tight builds. This is not saying there is NO inconvenience to you, but i dont think you could conceive of a solution that did not inconvenience the second group far worse. -
its not "doing it wrong" its just not unfair, its just a very odd complaint. i mean yeah, its assumed you will want a travel power, pre boosters, readily available buyable ingame powers and stuff from mayhem/safeguards travel powers were a big step in a players life, you start getting the ability to get to missions faster and access difficult to reach places in mission. i mean, you can take a power and bin it, or use it as a io mule if you like, but the design is more beneficial to more players than it is harmful, if you could call it a harm.

Quote:ok, im not even getting in the middle of this pirahana filled minefield of understated gender politics, but this one sticks out, which specifically steampunk options for a female top were we asking for that we wanted but didnt get? ill admit, im not super into steampunk, but based on what i have seen in abney park costumes, girl genius, and that lady mechanica comic david posted up, the outfits we were asking for were pretty much as exactly as we could get without getting us sued. what specific steampunk type for women was asked for that was not addressed? i tend to haunt the costume threads and i missed the steampunk thing that was asked for for years that we didnt get. can i get some links?
I have no problem with them adding in a nice corset piece, and I'll even accept the really odd choice of what looks like a padded bra, because, well, it doesn't hurt me that those pieces exist and more options is always good. But when they add those instead of other things that the playerbase has been clamoring for for years and would be more in theme, I get annoyed.
funny aside due tot he "its all skimpy lingeree" crowd here, i actually used the corset and long dress to make 2 of my character's outfits more modest, i apparently am doing it wrong. -
moviebob/the game overthinker did one of these digressions. it was painful and wasted everyone's time.

I can be bribed. if the bruins win, i know the dropkick murphys are likely going to make a song about it. get me metric making a song if canucks win and you will have my axe.
not that i use it much, im not a lumberjack or anything. -
Quote:was going to edit in that joke, but the forums went maintenance mode on me and i had to go to workCan't fit the theme. We all know that the 80's hairstyles were famous with such exaggerated poofs containing such excesses of hair spray that they could double as crash helmets.
If anything, the existing hairstyles would already be perfect for that era. -
