well, im not going to rant or yell, but the corset needs fixed post-haste, and the face, it really shoul be an option available for those who liked the shade. never used it myself, but i can see how it was important.

You know, in all seriousness, it would be tough to add a completely unkillable supernatural terror to the game due to the mechanics of most missions and the desire to make us feel like we are beating evil, but something like this in an extended story arc from something that pursues us at low levels and we finally hunt down at the apex of our career might be nice, you figure that while superheros are what most people think of with comic books, the weird tales books have a long history in comics and could add another dimension to the game. It could even randomly appear in non timed non fail-able missions to throw us a curve. the music would have to change too and it would have to be freaky.

Its a thematic fit, I support this unreservedly.

a. welcome back, wondered where you got to.
B. yeah tips are amazing. the writing is great and i feel they really revitalized the game. if you have a 50 hero, do "one good spider" its a morality mish that drops after you fill your hero bar. it is the definition of a "big damn hero" moment.
C. oh yeah, the resistance..you know the old saying, one man's freedom fighter is another man's terrorist? well, praetoria is a 90's comics era gritty story, there are people with good intentions who do bad things, and people with bad intentions that incidentally help some common interpretations of the greater good. praetorians will get their hands dirty, that can be used to enrich a back-story with layers, but you wont do a full on pure good or bad guy. generally power loyalists are glory hogs, responsibility loyalists are good cops in a bad situation(usually) crusaders are terrorists and wardens are generally freedom fighters, but everyone gets dirty. -
crey is interesting, one villian that could really be written in a more sympathetic light, while still retaining the horror at his methods is dr. vahz. a good writer could make him a really conflicting character. he kind of comes across as a xerox of who people who haven't read the book think of with dr frankenstein and he could be a very compelling as well as revolting character.

the argument could be made that farming is about maximizing rewards while minimizing risks. while eventually getting level shifts and running with a solid crew minimizes chances of failure on incarnate trials, they lack the capacity to truly minimize risks in the way most successful farms have.
you can report farms and get them shut down, right? or has that fallen by the wayside? -
not intentionally. the "nipples" were an accidental effect of polygons joining awkwardly. they were not ever officially nipples.

well, im a melee nut, for me the game becomes the game once im surrounded by an 8x spawn and im tossing people around lime lawn darts. It doesnt hurt things that melees tend to have mez protection and nothing is more annoying than being chain mezzed by a rikti mentalist and noticing you dont have any break frees or 3 of a kinds.
anyhow, how i view them. usually for me, tanks are characters i view from character standpoint of protectors. they are the big stompers who wade in and make sure all the heat is on them. not really great on the hitting side of thing, but their job is controlling the flow and stage of combat, and for the character concept, they tend to be the protective types.
brutes. these are the monsters and forces of nature. evenif they share skills with scrappers and stalkers, i tend to view their approach as an onrushing wave of destruction. play style is hyper aggressive, and personality wise, these are the ones who are pretty much feral and if they are good guys, they make the punisher look like a carebear.
scrappers- these are the technique guys, trained martial artists, refined swordsmen/women, deftly accurate with their claws, whatever, the primary thing is for them its an art, for a brute, its a consequence of overwhelming action. on the same token, they look far cooler destroying a huge spawn of enemies, as its all done with style. widows also fall under this subheading.
stalkers- now dont dogpile me, but these guys are the weak fighters for me, not mechanically but personality wise. they are the chars who cant really stand up in the middle of a fight with an unearthly monster, so they make due with technique and ingenuity and hit really hard. i kind of like writing stalkers, most of them have some heavy character flaw that drives them, but also pushes them to hit way above their weight class. in a way these are the little guys who catch the much bigger bully of guard with a folding chair and in doing so, deflate his power over them. usually for me, these are the human characters, just trying to hack it in a world run by giant robots, massive demons, and super soldiers.
i also like doms and defenders, but nothing flowery on them. usually defenders are the caring heroes, the ones that protect everyone else. and doms tend to be defined by the insane moments later in their careers when they have a full set of powers, hit dom and just slam down an entire encounter. since my main dom is a plant dom, i love turning a room into a forest with vines, creepers and the like. for me a dom is an aoe monster. -
if you alt a lot, patrol exp builds up. i tend to rotate chars, so usually when i log someone in, they have a full level of the stuff. plus, if you take time for the zone events..it builds up.

Quote:eh i could live with that, though partially i'm trying to make sure that the most thematic breadth is covered by existing powersets, ones people have put significant time into and already have badged up and incarnated up rather than having to start anew. I realize that given your tournament, this statement may take on an additional level of silly, but i hate re-rolling chars i have grown attached to.Capoeria would be an awesome set for Scrappers, Brutes and perhaps even Tanks but it should NOT be just alternate animations for Martial Arts. I see a Capoeria set as a low-damage set with a larger number of built-in self-buffs especially in Recharge and Defense.
also i realize that each new powerset has to justify itself in such a way that it doesnt overpower existing things that are mechanically similar, doesnt under-preform so nobody plays it, isnt burdened with a gimmick that causes it to underpreform, as some would argue dual blades and does with stalkers, and not be totally redundant outside of a small thematic justification. I'm not adverse to a new powerset, but im always hesitant to suggest a dive back into the big bucket of mechanics when new animations would suffice. case in point, wile its a thematically cool idea, you just suggested a low damage set for scrappers and brutes..is that really something that you feel would maintain popularity and have any kind of mechanical parity with existing melee sets just because of some recharge and defense bonuses, particularly when people softcap defense now with little problems. maybe it could be figured out, but im just trying to find the fastest solution with the least amount of resources committed (besides, a third martial arts themed set in the game, all those who complain about all the sword sets would be making 30 individual threads to loudly complain)
plus on a personal note, i like mix and match animations because then i can define my character's fighting style, rather than being pigeonholed into just the default animations, that is something relatively unique to coh, and id love to see it grow. -
it is a sound i have heard many times over the years.
you dont even know what i want in my full list of ma alt animation demands. i feel i should have a white cat and a quippy mi6 agent nemesis.
in my full interpretation of rian frostdrake, he integrates capoeria, drunken style kung fu, muay thai, tang soo do, savate boxe francais and seven star praying mantis style kung fu, as well as hapkido, but there is no way in heck we are getting a grappling style. -
i'm with zwill on capoeria as an alt anim for ma.
-
ah well, nothing for doms, not thrilled with that, but they do promise something cool for post 21, so we will wait. an ma/sr tank, interesting.

i want that whole outfit, really.guys need more long coats. my first thought at seeing the mock-up is it looked like the swords in phantasy star online. maybe "drawing inspiration" from some of the ones in phantasy star universe would be in order, particularly the ones you buy on neudaze.

eh, its a specific, one-note joke, i woudnt complicate the forumla too much. It serves its purpose and really doesn't bear a whole lot of scrutiny.

my guess is he will be a part of the new tutorial, a lot of the people here are the original team, so i suspect they will respect the original intention. as for iso-jailbreak,they already said it will be in oro, so i suspect it will be the way for those badges.
EDIT: ok, so zwill just rendered my conjecture irrelevant, good to see. i never met coyote, but certain actions of the devs were just good things to do, and including a valued community member that died was unquestionably one of them. -
its a joke about the boat.

Quote:i got ya, its just that for me i tend to write my character's personalities into their swords. heck, i am specifically holding back costumes for lady b until she unlocks the rularu sword and rommy's blade, to me the swords are important, as is their background. yeah anyone can use a specific sword, but its a superhero game, so i'm going to try and make the weapon match the character. a scimitar user is going to be middle eastern, a gladius will be linked to a roman character, et cetera. thats why im so excited for the titan weapons, its a different set of weapons for me to theme the character with.I
Obviously, if your concept hinges around a specific custom weapon, you're bound to the set that uses that weapon, and I have no problem with that. However, when I talk about remaking characters, I'm more or less assuming a limited reimagining, as well. I'll give you an easy example:
That, more or less, is what Titanic Weapons is causing me to do. Who can I make better with it? -
-
i have been agitating for this since issue 4, we can get close now, we really just need the cross over buttons with the high collar and MAYBE the ability to have a pattern span top and bottom in a seamless fashion, for a dragon/tiger/phoenix motif.

i have found doms are very helpful on the baf. keep in mind if you lock down the minions, that means less targets for the damage dealers on the walkways to waste hard hits on, and various sets have gimmicks that help too. i know my plant thorn dom seems to help a lot with stacked slows, immobs, and the occasional aoe hold. different powersets will work differently, but i'm really pleased with my dom on the baf. the lambda is ok, but comparatively that is more a direct damage dealer's job, though confusing a crowd of enemies with dom running and watching them destroy their own weapons crate..thats good fun.

no switch ups, but i have an idea or two, will have to see what all is included, but will probably make at least one alt out of it. if its just swords, hammers and axes, then probably just one, if they get weird with stuff, then i may find a muse for more.Quote:ok ill format this in a way that flows for sams actual questions.
1. Can you think of any concepts that make sense with conventional Weapon sets, but don't make sense with Titanic weapons?
2. Do you have any weapon characters? If so (assuming the set contains all classes of weapons), which ones are you leaving as is, and which ones are you remaking into Titanic weapons? Why?
3. Has hearing about Titanic Weapons given you any new ideas? Has it given you a new spin on old ideas?
1. some weapons wouldn work for it, the kopesh, the gladius, even the chinese broadswords and a standard katana would likely look silly one the animations i am assuming will be with the set(note the assume, i could be wrong). im expecting bug hefty swings with the hips and shoulders slamming a big hunk of ordinance down, that wouldnt work in the cases i have mentioned, and any agility themed character would probably have a thematic break with it. ninja, spies, evena traditional samurai/ kensai who uses a kendo based sword style would thematically be a stretch.
2. well ill narrow it down to non-elemental melee sets, but i have a few, lady bizzybee, a bs shield scrapper who uses lighter swords and is set to be more of a fast moving batman(the tv series type, silly lighthearted) era hero, shields will probably break the concept right away, but also, she isnt super strong, the set would look wrong for her. not saying bs's animations really are that graceful, but they at least look like the sword is light. also, i have a dual blades stalker king-snake, yes i had to hyphenate, the name was taken, but he is also an agile character who trades on fast, snake like reflexes, db looks perfect for that, i doubt titans will be. i also have some side characters, usually with katana, one is a dragon in samurai armor, but hes more a traditional kendo style fighter, puls i dont really play him as much since issue 17, he was more of a look than anything, and since we can now have tails with samurai hip guards, i recreated his look on rian and was happier. the other guys are more comedy based guys who i havent played for a while. so no real thematic reroll comes to mind. note that i kind of stayed away from weapons since in the beginning, we couldn't customize them, and the original weapons, outside of maybe the ninja blade for stalkers, looked ugly. all weapon users came after that.
3. i get inspiration from just about anything, a song from a music cd might inspire a new character. im going to make a titanic user, and im going to make a time buffer, the only question right now is which weapons are coming. nothing on deck yet, but thats because i'm staying loose till we see details. as a side note, the silent hill cleaver(the one on the left) from the original picture has already given me an idea for a bad guy for my never-finished ae story about fighting nightmare monsters, so once they pop on there, there will be a new chopper monster. -
Quote:that's the one, thanks bas. knew it was a common name, for some reason i went billy. loved that one, for an early arc, that one hit me, particularly since i try and do the "no kill" hero. bringing a mom into it made the conclusion that much worse. i did, the char i was running it with, alerunner abney, a drunken steampunk pirate/ reason the band abney park is going to sue my butt, is likely to high five anyone, just watch which hand he uses, left and right are esoterica oft forgotten midway through a bender.
Another one I really like, though it isn't a full arc, is "A Titan Called Joe"
