not a bad idea, but conceptually, i would think it would make more sense for rogues. vigs i always conceptualized as having the desire to do the right thing, but disregarding public safety and due process. rogues seemed to be more likely to do the right thing if its also the most profitable one.
actually this might be a good idea for contacts for visiting rogues/vigs make a similar group on the rogue islands for visiting vigilantes and steadfast rogues for missions that are more gray.

Maybe you'd like to create a Western-, Scifi-, Fantasy-, Steampunk-, Pirate-, or Barbarian- themed superhero? Our goal is to cover ALL the possibilities as fully as possible.

Comic characters come in all sorts of genre flavors after all (look at Jonah Hex, Thor, Conan, Lady Mechanika, Swamp Thing, etc.), and we love the notion of a COH universe where literally anything is possible.
THANK you, its a well worn path at this point, but the affirmation is always appreciated.
  3. hey if we tangenting on ghostbusters, id suggest she take in the cartoon too, some episodes were more silly(and all the slimer spin off was), but some had some impressive treatments of older mythological monsters/spirits. their samhain was pretty nasty for a kids aimed cartoon.
  4. no, actually the last time we got them(vandal perplex, arctic and the like), they were pretty nice, its more the attitude that in order to get tights, lets screw over people who enjoy anime, medieval comics, military comics, powersuits, supernatural characters, monster characters, modern superhero fans and the like, because they dont belong.

i don't mind tights, i rarely use them because for a character that is supposed to integrate into a real-ish world, they look hysterically corny, but they have their place in comics, generally in older, throw-back comics where they dont look drastically corny in context, but that is one thing i hate about longbow, non-powered people wearing tights just looks silly and would be horribly non-functional. where the heck do they even store their ammo?(yes i know some wear bandoleers, most dont) What i'd like to see is tights being treated a bit like martial arts outfits. you can use most martial arts in a comfortable set of jeans and a t-shirt, but the robes and gi's are there to visually distinguish the character right away as a martial artist. tights on enemy groups should be limited to those who are actually powered. in this respect crey gets it the most correct, gunmen and techie guys wear appropriate armor, and the powered wear tights, great progression.. we also got a lot of "tights" enemies and allies in tips missions. but for the overall game, i like the balanced approach, more tights, sure yeah, but in balance with more power armor, more martial arts garb(why the HELL dont we have a good fighting cheongsam yet?) and more beast options.

there is a reason i play 2 superhero mmos and not the third, two draw from a balanced set of outfits, and one is all damn tights all the time.

based on my experience with another superhero game that went f2p, they did not originally allow free players access for this very reason, that has only recently changed.
  6. well, apparently in the pc gamer article a staff is mentioned. if we can get appropriate animations for a staff, they should be fudge-able for a scythe, if we get one of them an alt is born, and i doubt she will be alone. other than that, a giant two handed hammer like in fable would be agreeable maybe with cogs at the front and back of it and a steampunkish brass vibe. also, i'm REALLY hoping for a chainsaw. might not work out, but witha modified handle like a hedge trimmer to accomidate the grip, a chainsaw would be amazing for a brute, maybe do it like in madworld with the two blades side by side.
  7. This will probably be a more complex metric, it looks right now like we will be getting more content than vip points will be able to keep up with, but if this pace is maintained, we will be getting more content as well then we previously did with our subs and occasional booster, so there will likely be more out of pocket, but also more stuff ingame. if you want a lot of stuff, then likely it will be value, but it will likely be more comparable to if more boosters hit during the year. but this is all speculation, till we see how it shakes out in a few months, its more a litmus test of whether you are an optimist or a pessimist.

honestly, its pretty hard to believe this.
  10. well, most of the stuff i already knew from release screenshots, or dont know anything about, like the black hood guys, but the seed of hamidon, ok finally, after all these years, we get a real giant monster other than lusca, thank you. i like that.

well, didnt post because you asked previously for those staying vip not to, but since you changed the question now i can answer . no, the new system is nice, but im at 84 months as of last month, the vet system is my oyster, and i see no compelling reason not to be vip, particularly given the exclusive nature of the celestial armor and cool wings.
  13. mostly. sometimes i have to go beyond existing canon or into areas not yet covered, so i tend to rely on the "unreliable narrator" excuse for dissonance, but i try to make my characters fit into the storyline, even if they go different ways at times. most characters drop the rikti general, and most vills fight project destiny, and my pb did his storyline, but i do add external stuff to the mix like dragons and angels that is not yet established canon.
  14. my characters tend to stand more by church than state, and thats about all i can say on that topic.
  15. 5 50's one more probably this weekend.
    1. rian frostdrake(ma/sr scrapper)- t3 alpha, t3 lore(2 of them), t3 dest, t3 judge (cryo), t3 int
    2. seraph blue(emp/lit def) - t3 alpha, t1 judge(ion), t1 int, t3 dest, lore not unlocked, but sitting on a t2 when it pops.
    3. violet tendencies(plant thorn dom) t3 alpha t3 judge(pyro), t3 int, t3 lore, t3 dest.
    4. space robot 5(ice ice tanker)- t1 alpha, nothing close to unlocking
    5. atomic angel(rad/rad def)-t3 alpha. judge and int close to unlocking void judge already crafted

t4's are something i'll get back to, right now, the shift is the main goal.
  16. i almost never kick(once in 7 years), i also dont lead trials. personally i see it as harmless, but on the same token, i can see how someone could see it as disruptive, and if the crates/acids were chugging, then i'd say kicking was completely justified, of if you lead marauder out and screw things up. so its a situational thing. if the trial is sailing through stuff and we are already at 10/8 or 10/9 and have several minutes, go ahead and get it out of your system.

but heres i guess what im seeing. if you know its disruptive, and that it bothers some people, i'd think common courtesy is to ask. if they say they need help, then pitch in, if not, then act a clown, but at least you have considered the other players. and if you are willfully inconsiderate..then yeah, you will get kicks, maybe not from old hippies like me, but from someone, and you will really deserve it.
  17. usually 3 possible options.
    1. i think of a good pun
2.chase and cinder call me and have a group idea so i make one to fit.
    3. i buy a new music cd and there is a song that carries a theme that i like.
now those arent the end of it, i will usually brainstorm pretty heavily to make the character, their backstory and such make sense, i kind of welcome the challenge if they are the pun characters, to make them work as something other than a dumb joke. but yeah the majority of characters began as a simple emotional reaction to some song, then id see a powerset that kind of looked like it worked, then the rest is layered into place.
  18. eh, we have no examples of star wars, star trek, anime and harry potter fans doing similarly strange things?

ok i said i was likely to forget something, kali was more of a vamp fan than me, so need her to come in and lay the explosives down. for the record, i dont care for the twilight series except as a good mst3k fodder, an i kind of liked how they portrayed werewolves in general, though the characters are painfully unlikable. but the reaction seems knee jerk to someone having a "gasp" different interpretation of it than the standard nerd accepted version.

They could, for instance, add a Incarnate difficulty to regular content, that scales regular content to silly difficulties and add Incarnate rewards to the reward table.

Then you could conceivably solo that content with the right build, and since there's so much regular content (there wouldn't be 3 arcs, but rather 300 arcs, and you probably would have missed a lot of them when you played them as non-50 at somewhat regular difficulty), you could be playing for weeks without repeating yourself.

Then the devs could spend the resources they did not spend on making new unique solo content on making fun trials, or a couple of new arcs or task forces that could also use the Incarnate difficulty.

    ---

Or the devs could ask us for help, by adding an Incarnate candidate option to MA. We make the arcs and playtest them to be difficult enough as Incarnate solo content. When we think they're difficult enough, we submit them. They're checked to be non-grindable by devs or GMs and also to be in compliance with the lore (yeah, right), and then they set the flag Incarnate approved. When that flag is set and not a minute before, incarnate rewards are available from those arcs.

Again, that option would quickly yield quite a lot of incarnate content, so much that there would never be a chance to grind unless you really wanted to. It would also free up resources to whatever the devs feel is more important at the moment. And again, you would be able to solo it with the right build.

    ---

Or they could decide that only new Dev-created content is fit to be Incarnate content and make everything themselves. In issue 22 or thereabouts there are three and only three soloable arcs, resources eaten so that there were no new task forces, and moaning about grindiness and bad solo options remains on the forum.
making incarnate jsut harder versions of existing content would have the opposite effect of making it more open for players. do you remember trapdoor? for a portion of players, particularly ones who want to just have fun and not min/max, he, and the fight right afterwards with the 2 ebs, was unsoloable and they complained loudly that it was forced teaming.

making existing content prohibitively hard for all but a few spiked solo builds would only reward those with the resources and skills to make a maxed character, and not many of the ones upset because they fear that difficult content would make their character less desirable on a team setting, that char would really be at a disadvantage alone.

also, how would the shifts work? still only on trials? that seems to defeat the point since they dont want to run trials. on all the content, well, we have a problem again. jsut as players with one or zero shifts tend to find themselves less than powerful on itrials, being 2 levs down on an incarnate difficulty arc could be crippling.or having all the shifts would drain the challenge utterly out of the system.
  22. it apparently doesnt. kali m used to argue this a lot with twilight haters, so that is where im getting some of this (with wiki verification, because i forget stuff). apparently the first example of it killing a vamp is in the Frank langella movie version of dracula in 79. Now in the book, drac is weakened by sunlight, but still mobile. its just that in the sun he is basically human, whereas in the dark he is super strong.

my suggestion was like the foot stomp, but using babs' intro animation, the slam to the ground on one knee. my ideal would be for the players hands to shoot out like palm heels to their exact right and left, and cause a player centered shockwave. this would cover(in my mind) lumbering ss characters, as well, as martial artists or kin melee users who would be projecting ki force outward and smashing the enemies around.

ideally it would function like a lightning rod or shield charge. with the character tping to the location and pbaoeing.
  24. the story is about the exception dealing with the difficulties of maintaining their humanity in the face of the larger and more bestial norm. far from an unusual theme in such books. my point stands quite nicely. and i reiterate, the 30 days later vamps also arent entirely the norm. they arent really nearly as strong, they have those silly shark teeth, and they seem primarily concerned about a weakness only made up in a movie from 1979. and what about crosses? sometimes they stun vamps, sometimes they just remove their power(as per dracula) and in some cases, their presence kills vampires. what is the norm?

if i may be blunt, it seems that nerds hate twilight because its letting normals into our world and"gasp" making their own rules. the G.R.O.S.S. clubhouse will not abide such heterodoxy, we cannot retain our uniqueness if we let others use our stuff in a different way.
