  1. hearts plus. the bolero cape, enforcer gloves(love enforcer gloves) the banded roman armor(forget its name) and recently bioluminescent glowing tops. also the combo of omega hair with the mutant pack horns.
  2. unfortunately the no corr/def thing kind hurts my general suggestion. my usual answer for this(and one I use) is traps/ar defender with a beam rifle once 21 hits. i could see altering the gloves slightly and using energy blast as some kind of zero-point gloves like the guy in the incredibles.

oh and for the weapons suggestion, claws can work, i tend to use a larger glove, like the enforcer and then use bright colored claws to look like they are energy claws, like in phantasy star online. i know you dislike the talsorians, due to their odd attachment point, so thats out there. and you will probably have to go sleeveless. but heres my general look..and i thought i used brighter colors on the claws, my memory stinks

i liek the general outfit though, reminds me of the espada from bleach
  3. looks more interesting than any other mmo coming out. still barely have time for coh and co, but might try it if it goes hybrid or if friends get it.

lone wolf reference? not that obscure. did you ever look at the mongoose pnp rpg based on LW/greystar? not bad stuff, wish anyone near me still gamed.
  5. ok, disliking the inclusion of that hattori hanzo blade but not the hanjo masamune. the "historical" Hanzo was a military tactician who preferred the spear over the sword, and is occasionally portrayed as a ninja in pop culture. the hanjo masamune was an actual legendary sword that is a national treasure in japan, and has shown up consistently in video games and manga(particularly square jrpgs). he could even add the cursed muramasa blades. or the kusanagi, the sword susano took from the tail of orochi and one of the 3 three imperial treasures of japan.

edit: also, if we are adding swords from recent pop culture things like kill bill, the master swrod from the legend of zelda has been around long enough(technically it was not in the nes or original gameboy game, but has been in since link to the past), has an iconic enough appearance and has had a broad enough influence in games to be pretty important.

Technically speaking, it is easier to create since it will be an NPC that has whatever movement and powers (and placement on a map) the Devs decide. It could be done similar to a Hydra tentacle even if they use a traditional Asian dragon look (which would make the most sense anyway). We all win!

Best yet, you'd be able to kill it and probably get a nifty badge like Dragon Slayer.

i love every bit of that idea.

i have wondered if perhaps the introduction of the coming storm wont introduce even more possibilities for powers. the well seems unnerved by the battalion, maybe we will need even more power to fight them. I am willing to bet that a number of people just screamed with annoyance at more power, and a number screamed out in joy, but it was just a thought i had. maybe omega wont be enough.

  9. id like it, but you do remember that castle said that getting what they did was prohibitively resource heavy , making the whip animations. but if they can do it, id love it, maybe an assault set too, whips would be..thematic for doms.
  10. why exactly. you can go to the vanguard icon person now from atlas right out of the gate, and they, unlike trainers, is even a super tailor . did that kill icons? Icons still have the advantages of having a super tailor and having the missions we need to unlock new costumes. so suggesting they will die just because you can got to a trainer as an additional but more limited option seems unjustified.
  11. I'm a general? awesome, im going to jump a hay cart in my car now honking my horn seeing if someone narrates.

ok, guess who is punchy from work
  12. my arguemnt(which actually was it probably wont happen because it would be thematically odd and technically infeasable) was that it was not off limits on the basis of being "fantasy" because several examples in the super hero genre on both western and eastern media could readily be named. your response was "i dont like eastern media and i dont like any fantasy elements" now the set is certainly not going to be included or excluded based on what we discuss here. but i was providing examples where the thing was not out of place, and rather than discussing why those might not apply, your response simply was," oh, but i dont like those" so no, that was not my argument at all, try again.
  13. so the upshot is " I DONT WANNA!!" /stomp feet. right?
  14. so we should discount it because you don't like manga? ignoring that that door has been way open since issue 4, and the fact that it has is one of the reasons I stay, thats really shaky ground for a counter argument. bottom line is there are several established examples of dragons being used in comic books, dragons are not the exclusive domain of fantasy. in fact, look at pern and shadowrun, they fit in sci-fi and cyberpunk as well.

immersion breking in a game where tailors can instintaneously change your body shape, musculature, graft robotic arms or organic arms, tails or wings onto your body and even change your gender? and this requires no recovery time, risk of rejection, physical disorientation or actual visable medical supplies?

and that trainer, is that the one that despite having a defined powerset can train crowds of multiple superheroes at once in any of the hundreds of the disparate powersets in the game including villian patron powers that directly draw power from elements so far never mentioned as existing in the paragon city. this is the part that makes you say nuh-uh? libs cant have a pda with an up to date inventory of icon and a quick delivery service ? but she can use her martial arts skills to train you psychic domination before you run off to get a gender reassignment that doesn't even make you late for a timed hostage rescue? that was the bridge too far? id boggle, but i can boggle no more.

no, you really dont, you can make a shot in the dark guess, obnoxiously cynical though it may be, but outside of the developers, none of us can say with any certainty why a decision was made. it is just as likely that one of the first individuals you are directed to was chosen as a showcase of one of the game's strongest differentiating factors from other games and they decided it would be easier to get people hooked on the tailor, as many of us have for years without a direct financial incentive, if you were introduced to the ability to change costumes right out of the gate somewhere you would be going several times anyhow. bottom line we are both guessing, none of us KNOWS anything, and pretending you have figured out some great conspiracy to make things more convenient because they are only focusing on the money is silly.

hey now. the x men have that tiny dragon, the fantastic four had dragon man, who admittedly was an alchemically enhanced living robot, but they did cross dimensions to one filled with dragon riders. and if we get into asian themed heroes and manga, well, lets just say i can go on.

technically i dont see this happening for reasons mentioned here. also, mastermind seems like a weird fit, usually in situations where humans are put in control of dragons, they take one single one as a mount/companion, depending on the intelligence level of dragons in the mythos. but commanding multiple ones as disposable minions seems to diminish the usual majesty associated with dragons.
  17. I like it and think people are trying really hard to be upset about things. icon is still there and i'l l still use it, for large costumes, but if i need a small adjustment, its good i dont have to zone to vanguard a few times like i have been doing.
  18. glad to see you back, one nitpick. we werent told pc was impossible, juts that they did not have the manpower/resources to do it. they got more money and staff with the ncsoft buyout, so they bridged that limit, but impossible was not the word used. just unlikely at the (then)current staffing. also, to my particular glee, pc not only was done for colors, but for actual alternate animations for some powers. something that is rare in the mmoscape, i was very happy babs pulled that chestnut off.

I gotcha, thats a reason why I specified a minimum level of coordination. some teams are hopeless, or contain enough hopeless individuals to destroy things. its still lower than the requirement on a lambda or keyes, though.

my take more is that people stick to the familiar. the keyes is not really hard but its different, the baf can be banged through by brute force and a minimum of coordination of a team. its one thing that you see not just in trials but in gaming in general, people complain about sequels and genres until you dont make a sequel or a clearly defined genre game, then people get confused and run away because they really really want sequels and genres.
  21. sounds good. i know they try to make a big announcement such as a release date at a big event, and outside of backpacks, they havent really hinted what they would be on about at pax this weekend, so i was speculating that there might be a release date reveal there . we know most of the stuff in i21, since we are playing it, now so unless they want to start hyping issue 22 already, it would seem to limit the topics for pax, and these events usually are the big impact "put the forumites bananas" reveals, so it could happen. maybe they will reveal soem of the new costumes and perhaps an entirely unexpected and unforseen new powerset

    YMMV
mileage indeed varied, but without dragging on the first level forever, how much content did you really expect them to fit for the time it takes to level between 1-2 and have maybe 3 powers? heck, i usually skipped the tutorial and made that jump in about 3-5 minutes by just jumping a liuetenant hellion and his buddies and dinging right there. reality kind of limits what can be done there unless you want to drag out the tutorial which also would not have struck many as fun.

its about as epic as you can make the time when you have 3 powers(barring vets and that ..modest origin power), no inherent and next to no slots, realistically.if anything its mroe pathetic to me when both competing superhero mmos tried to make us look more epic in the tutorial, and really just made the sig characters look weak and push home the "gameification" of existing characters with established power levels.
