Quote:they were trying to do that, currently they are having technical issues getting it to work, but they are active working on it.(as per tec's thread on the topic.)So... If I understand you right you paid for a year and instead of getting points and tokens every month you want a years worth upfront?
EDIt oops, just tokens, not points. -
its not really that hard. the official policy is no refunds, but they will sometimes make discretionary exceptions for exceptional cases. yours is unlikely because the case is not exceptional, but the suggesters are likely counting on you getting lucky. Is this really a hard concept for you?

In this case as kitsune has touched on, the biggest problem is that people who return the set now because it was changed in beta(which, in classic shubbie form, is incorrect) opens the door to people trying to cry for a refund every single time a power actually is rebalanced, and i feel that it sets a dangerous precedent. While i feel it is unnecessary because i personally feel that the customer is responsible for being informed about their purchases before they make them, i can see allowing some form of trial testing of a powerset before it is purchasable. but all but the most outrageous of cases(say, a hacked account) I'd say its a better policy to continue not offering refunds.
in regards to shubbies oft repeted comments about losing a customer, i think it was said best earlier in the thread that some customers are simply not worth the cost of ill will and csr time they tie up. Toxic customers, simply put, are unpleaseable and will continue to cause issues as long as they continue their subscription. -
good write up, I do have to mention that one thing rather annoyed me. Synapse had a perfectly good idea to leverage alternate animations, a thing that i was VERY excited about for martial arts because many of the current kicks are(as i have ranted in numerous threads) really really bad. So i have to say i am in SIGNIFICANT disagreement with second measure about whether street justice should have been a new powerset, rather than making an existing set better for people who have enjoyed the set for years. What has essentially happened now is a set that has thus far been brought into the relm of preforming solidly after several buffs now is going to be more saddled with issue 1 animations(and a few punches that , while nice, sure as heck are a strech to justify as "martial arts") essentially we got the original alt animations to satisfy people who wanted to play a street brawler, now we got an actual street brawling set, can we finally get some animations for martial arts that actually look like martial arts? Mechanically im with gg and arcanaville, combos are a start. but my concern for this game has always been an aesthetic one rather than a gameplay one, and martial arts needed better animations before, now it has 2 newer, better looking siblings with kin melee and stj, and ma really is showing its age and lack of polish in its original animation.

maggie nettles. was going for a 70's british-punk aesthetic with her.

amen. i really wish the devs would let us just beat him up already. Most of my vills wanted to pound hiim, cant imagine my heroes would mind either. and yes, not letting us fight him in the mission(allegedly we did soemthign to have a cast on his arm) rathr annoyed me. i mean, all my chars are heroes, not vigs, and the hero side was satisfying, but man would it be cathartic to let us beat him up.

im on board with this idea.
the patrons, not the level bump. -
the well is pretty open to interpretation right now. the only constant that seems to be with it is that it tends to lend its power to individuals who show a will to grow stronger. even whether its conscious or just "directed" by some force or individual is currently unknown, so go nuts with it, and if future info counters that..ignore it, like many of us do with the origin of power storyline.

pretty good explaination, only one addendum i'd put on. The meme grew as a result of the website "something awful" photo-manipulating the phrase into a bunch of mundane pictures, and a newgrounds video where a group "the laziest men on mars" did a techno ideo using samples of the opening, along with many, many photomanipulations putting the slogan in comical places, like the presidential seal. i'd link, but there is an obscene gestures in one of the pics and id get zapped. basically, hit up youtube, cant miss it, and the song is catchy.

Quote:If i were to hazard a guess, its an unarmed set for a street level hero. martial arts (which i favor) does have some degree of locking you into a concept. street justice tends to fit the untrained but brave character more, or just a grim and gritty brawler. that and it was pretty strong on beta.I do not get all the slavering for Street Justice. I mean, I was excited for Beam Rifle and was happy to buy it first day it was available... but the excitement over SJ goes so far above and beyond what I understand that it seems odd to me... like waiting in line for a Star Wars prequel odd.
Would someone explain to me what makes Street Justice so hypeful and eagerly anticipated? Is it the new mechanics? Is it the animation? Is it the fact that it's a punching set that scrappers can use?
I don't get it. -
wait, are we doing kin melee or kin the buff?
kin melee, i usually see it as a chinese kung fu type fighter, the animations generally fit with the open handed strikes, and the big balls of energy work with an internal style that uses chi. alternately, the kin i actually play i just recolored them light blue and made it a water manipulation set for my mermaid character.
for kinetics, the buff, one could use it as a bending of space/physics manipulation powerset. either through some tech emitters or some spell that allows a limited wish type manipulation of physics. -
ok, not wading deeply into this topic, as there are a lot of land mines, but a somewhat related anecdote. I just finished a rather fun ds metroidvania type game today, and once the credits rolled, just like pretty much every game i have beaten where i know enough about the language to discern the genders of those who make the game, only one female outside of the legal and external management staff. funny part is this game had a non-sexualized female lead AND, in a somewhat unusual development, a female villain, who was kind of a subversion of some common gaming tropes(its noted she wears nearly the same dress as princess peach). Now they had better be non-sexualized, since both are pre-teens. I have noticed this in some major release games, like 95% guys, and these are the "triple a"(note, i !@#$ing hate that self aggrandising, self promoting bs term) multi-million sellers. Cant imagine that doesnt affect how things get portrayed.
Kinda neat we have cheryl, war witch, the fx artist with the coolest name ever and a few other female developers whose names im forgetting in the actual steel of the game, rather than external non gaming ends of it. -
it should be noted that one reason that works is because the sentence is made of common words that flow contextually, a counter example was shown using uncommon words and with more ambiguous context and they could not be deciphered.

some had a bad experience, some are just fans of other games and fall into the tribalism mindset that to affirm your chouces, you must disparage other's choices. and especially in youtube, public comment forums like youtube tend to be places for the lowest of the low to use them just to vomit stupidity. its best to ignore a significant amount of public comment online, the net gives everyone a voice..and shows that not everyone has something to say. Also, no offense but you yourself are guilty of slagging two games in your post. yeah you likely legitimately didnt like them, but just as you enjoy some of coh's features and dislike some of the competitions, others may well feel the same about their games. its best to not say other games are bad, but rather restate why you enjoy yours and simply state that you dont enjoy theirs. i dislike whole gaming genres, but they arent objectively bad, just not my cup of tea.
also understand this thread may not last long, because you compare to two other games. they tend to delete threads on that because compare and contrast threads are not allowed.
EDIT: its good you are happy though, ultimately, thats what matters, if you find something that works for you, then you are good, others comments don't matter. -
Quote:its from the pc gamer story on freedom, it also showed the cot concept art and 4 titan weapons. and yeah that was about signature story arcs. Thanks for posting my current wallpaper. Been anticipating something like this since dual pistols was opened up for masterminds. My how the years fly by unanswered. Also sitting on about 20 genre themed names just-a-waitin'...
What is this image on/from? Can you please post the entire thing? Trying to decode what character could be on the right of her that starts with:

I do have one question, i had always thought swan's outfit looked like a strapless one piece with a sheer midriff, you tend to have her drawn wearing a bikini type outfit, did i miss something from the comics , or was that just a body you already had made up and multipurposed.
-
for the hydra though, i believe it is said they are from a separate planet and the rikti enslaved them as a race of cannon fodder.
ok, looked at the mish on wiki, technically they are only shown to be extradimensional, but its not stated if the portals go to the same place in each dimesion, so i still say they are possibly aliens. -
at this point i will brave the annoying log out bug to chime in that i really really want to see a reptile/dinosaur/dragon pack, and would buy it the instant it was launched. maybe some fish stuff too?
-
eh, if i may devils advocate here, while i REALLY wished we had gotten those long waist capes from the death mages, we did see the concept art a while ago posted on the forums, that is exactly what we got. I wish more had been added from the npc groups, but this was literally what we were shown to expect, so i cant legitimately yell. I DO wish that the whole detail was a belt, rather than a belt and skirt. i can see why they were separated, because now some people can have sashes, but the outfit i had wanted it for was rian frostdrake's full dragon form, and that uses monsterous legs. so that look is not doable.

Quote:you know, sam, one compromise i think that would work for both of us is for longbow to be more varied.yeah their powers can be tough, but for me, their biggest weakness is they are always the same, gunmen, stealth gunmen, special weapons gunmen, gunmen on jetpacks, ballistas, and super powered wardens. if they were as varied as the ppd, who have regular munitions, power armor, psychic and kheldian varieties, they might be less tiring, but the same boring one color scheme, low detail costumes wearing group with always the same powers, it makes them visually dull to fight. gimmie a martial arts, occult or mutant division(especially on the latter, we need more monstrous heroes) and they will be a lot less dull to engage, and the powers will make fights more varied.Speaking of which, I miss the snakes, too. They were a cool, unique group that used their own special rig and had a very interesting backstory. What's more, I liked the 45-50 story arc that sends you back to Mercy to fight Elder Snakes, in how it resonated with a return to our roots. Now that the snakes are gone, the Elder Snakes arc makes less sense and is considerably less interesting.
What's worse, the Snakes were swapped out with Longbow, and if there's one thing that City of Villains will never, ever, EVER need more of it's more Longbow. I get enough of these guys just going through Nerva and beyond, where Longbow seem to constitute half the enemies we fight. Now they're 3/4 of the enemies we fight in Mercy Island, too.
I liked the Atlas Park rewrite so much more... -
Quote:eh, you got to play gr for over a year longer than those who waited, same as cov. I paid full price for coh, gr, and cov back in the day, my little brother got the complete edition of gr for (i think) 15 bucks or so he saved about 160 bucks relative to me, the difference is, i got to play 7 years more than him, and enjoyed a good portion of those 7 years. we often go on about how its the journey not the destination in the game, and really, life is like that, if you adopted early, you did so knowing that you were getting a worse deal for instant gratification. its why i did it and its why others did it, its why early adopters have always done it. rather than waiting for the eventual price drop of every piece of software not made by nintendo. appreciate that your journey included the content earlier than others did.still feels like I'm getting jipped if I paid for GR already, not asking for anything else.
oh well...
oh and rachel, welcome, back, what do you think of the steampunk set? -
yeah that is i have said a few times, that is not an advertisement, that is a discussion with fans about planned features. there is a different standard for actual advertisements(though things like base raids and the cop were actually advertised and removed).
-
cool. as i said, i think part of the complaint is that things are different now than they were, conditional statements exist now that weren't specified because the options didnt exist, otherwise, it would have been clarified. we were aware that you needed gr to play incarnate stuff, we knew that we had to pay an subscription, nobody had to ask what happened if you stopped paying the sub because we knew, you didnt play anymore. now we got the increase in capacity that we can stop paying and still play. new sets of conditional phrases exist now that didn't before...ya know what, if you can sub, just sub, it works out better.
