  1. played through the arc last night. yeah we would really be well served by getting these. since my main is a dragon, i REALLY want those shoulder spikes from the eb (and they do appear to be shoulder details, as he also has a celestial back detail.) chest detail and gloves are cool too, but oh those shoulder spikes with the back parts..drool.

    Way to go investigative journalism!
Or it could be an article about how underlying stratagems that gamers regularly make use of to maximize their gaming results can be applied to physical fitness and deliver above average results, despite the seemingly incongruous mix of a generally sedentary activity and a active one. and whaddaya know, that's what it is about.
  3. well, gaming, particularly street fighter 2 pushed my interest in eastern martial arts. one time i was even caught yelling something close to "hadoken" while doing one-step sparring(but for a kick, wasnt saying i was going for full authenticity). It certainly helped my enthusiasm for training and for hitting clinics when my teacher had them to train in other styles, because i enjoyed using the characters in various games that used them. also, there is something to be said for playing ninja giaden and then looking at the mirror to motivate one to hit the gym. I am not going to be ryu hyabusa, but it is fun to hit a climbing wall and scale it with relative ease, like he would do.

as to the content of the article I dont use any particular gaming relate strategy for my weight lifting, outside of unflattering physical comparisons. but i can see how a min-maxer could set up a mean diet/exercise regimine.
  4. It's a start, I'll admit one concern i had was that they were announced a while ago and we had yet to see any ingame screenshots of the set working, just some concept art on the forums and pc gamer. here is hoping we see them for the Halloween event.

man could i take this thread on a "to be locked dirction" about what genetic tests are currently used for.
  7. id say she currently is enigmatic for a reason, she's kind of a story trigger they re waiting to pull. maybe with the coming storm, maybe with whatever follows tcs. but right now shes just really powerful and outside the revealed sides.
  8. Hapkido? niice, wish there was a school near here that taught that.
  9. I enjoy melee so for me it was kind of a given, but it is fun and seems very strong. my stj has beaten things that really a character of her level should be having a much harder time with, so thats a pretty ringing endorsement.

you ever work customer service? this part is entirely true, customers are exactly like that. other mmo should be forbidden, all that discussion does is allow for sounding boards for malcontents and rage quitters to leave a flamewar on their way out. single player games are different, they are not competing in any real way more than television, movies, exercise and pnp gaming, and should be allowed for discussion.

What does "dedicated discussion" mean? This means that threads created specifically for discussing another game are prohibited; e.g., "New Game X comes out this fall," "General MMO/RTS/FPS/insert genre here thread," "How do I beat the boss in X game," etc. Dedicated discussion also includes lengthy discussions of another game in unrelated threads.

Other games can be mentioned in passing provided they are not competing products. In addition, comparing/constrasting any game(s) with City of Heroes is prohibited.

Basically the rule has been modified to allow players to mention other games, so long as they do not discuss them. So you can make a reference to game X, or say you're playing game Y, as long as you don't go into lengthy discussion and/or create a thread specifically about it.

    Hope that clears everything up!
Well, keep in mind, i know you dont make the rules, and that this instead is an edict from people disconnected with the gaming community, but I feel this idea totally misunderstands why coh had a strong community in the first place. People in the old, enjoyable, worth reading comics culture forums enjoyed the fact that as a community that has already developed some cohesiveness and unity, this was a better group to discuss gaming than the general GameFAQs or ign crowd, less trolls, tighter bonds, it really worked, back then, to see good, vibrant discussions with people who were simply a better caliber than you used to stumble across on general gaming forums. we had fights, i was statistically likely to have been in a few of them, but at its hear the community was something like an extended in-group where we had some great discussions.

Talking about bioware games(those always made great threads) or new single player rpg's, or even street fighter 4, those were fun times. I actually left my original game forums to join here, because we had less immature jerks and more people with whom we had a history, and it was a great time, it was a real community. Most of those people i will never team with in game, will never meet at a con(i hate travel and i dont see a convention hitting johnstown) but we could hang out and chat up the latest game we were playing when news on the game was kind of slight. All coh all the time..great, the main boards are generally a screaming contest of which people who have been in the ongoing process of quitting for 7 years now and desperately think we wish to know their reason for leaving this week. Its old, i barley can stand the general boards anymore. The community was IMMENSELY better back when it was a fun hang out place to discuss what you enjoyed.

In a better forum we would be having a fun discussion about how far many of us were in dark souls, instead, we can scream at each other more about whether street justice has a big enough aoe, that really helped us?
  12. agreed, one thing street justice drives home (though i think the elemental sets had this too with the fist animation attacks) is that you can have multiple animations on a single power, and it would break up the monotony of throwing the same exact strike over and over during long boss fights. so yeah, im totally for it. it would be a healthy for martial arts. and would be good for all sets that benefit from alternate animations (and...standard rian comment, there should be more)

good suggestion, i was going to suggest a face height "push" front kick, like hulk hogan or the undertaker used to do, maybe have a slight step-in to sell the momentum of the strike, and differentiate it from the pool kick power, you want to be kicking through the target, not doing a quick snap-back. its still a big, aggressive, impact style move, and it also makes there be another foot technique in stj.
As always, id suggest this be a alt animation, rather than a flat out replace, as someone probably likes the assassin strike.

It is decidedly one of my least favorite rules. i have a non-mmo game that i would love to go on about since i got it on the fourth, but they keep us in the dark as though they fear for our souls, and two more are hitting in nov that we could have some good discussions about.
A really fun and vibrant culture had popped up over the discussions of current single player and classic games, and It really does feel like the casualty of ncsoft suits grabbing onto a basic principle (we dont want to host the forums for other games) and ignoring that a lot of the community got closer over (for example) our bioware threads. I miss them and it has affected my posting a lot..im only posting now because im hiding from my 360 as i think the aforementioned game actually wants to beat me up in person.

It is really really good though.
  15. I still like asking younger servers to get me a coke classic and watching the confusion on their faces.

by the way, why the hell isnt jolt still sold in a bottle? yes, the can looks like a battery, cute, now given me back my iconic jolt bottle with the red lines and the yellow lightning bolt, i have 49 hours of sleep deprivation to get started on.
  16. not by any definition of the sandbox genre i have ever seen. mmos are pretty distinct from the sandbox genre. and to clarify the "dog" is now excused for biting when mildly annoyed when misunderstood as well? thats a bit of a jump over being "kicked"

and the creme' brulee was overly hyphenated.

EDIT: cellist is spelled right, but it looks like its spelled wrong, that's going to bug me all night.

    Sheesh.
if we are splitting hairs, He made a unclear original post, has lashed out at people in every post, has thrown dismissive put downs at people who ask him to clarify and is making assumptions about people's experiences with the game that seem to exist only for him, and shouts down people who mention this incongruity. Now what part of this is not his own fault again?

on topic, this time its a third option, someone will want a fourth, and a fifth, or some element of the third and fourth option wont quite fit your character as you have conceived them. The calculated risk of allowing branching dialogue has made a sort of rp xeno's paradox that each option given will make some people more sensitive to smaller variations in the game as presented and tha game as they have conceived, and thus that much less likely to ever actually reach their in-game conception. Sometimes there simply is no option other than forcing your story and ignoring some of the official canon unless you want to place your character's personalities in a constant state of open flux.

I dont necessarily disagree with Sam, but i doubt that he or anyone who really makes specific and inflexible back-story for their character will be satisfied for a significant period of time because some other branch that is central to their character is now unfulfilled, so they will be dissatisfied again.
  21. You know, this topic reminds me of a comic"empowered" by adam warren. the general gist is that the main heroine has powers, but they are really flakey, so you start finding as the series goes on that her real powers is that she treats people well, doesn't prejudge midcard and below villians as worthless and even saves a few of their lives, and in most of her stories wins by thinking in a depowered mindset and jury rigging a solution, even in the rare cases her suit/blatant aesop for self esteem is still together it just serves to amplify her natural resourcefulness and goodness. Its got the most fanservice a story can have without being about a HVAC technician, no question, but i kind of like how it handled the heroes versus people with super powers angle.
