tv, no, they are stupidly expensive. there were some very funny ads of "im a hero, im a villain" that spoofed the mac/pc ads. also, for the topic, i dunno, chuck would have been out of place in that game since they didnt have a martial artist class.

brand putts it into the cup, eagle.i'm mixed on the comic, the stories were just ok(smoke and mirrors excepted) but it did seem to be another way to get info out there.

Quote:well, just a thought, but since it appears a major stalker buff is imminent in i22, do you have other characters that might be a little less vulnerable to praetoria's ambushes until i22 and you get tougher? obviously, im not trying to tell you how to play your game, but it seems to me that it might help a bit if you didn't like your first run to run a different character. (for the record, i have been doing it with a kin scrapper and a cold/sonic defender. the defender had some rough patches, the scrapper seemed to be up to the task though really well)I liked the characters and the story well enough (Even though I did get a little tired of the repeated "Okay, time to do something horrible to my friends. Again."-thing...), but from a playability standpoint it was annoying as all hell.
See, I went through it the first time solo. With a Stalker. <_<
I knew it would be a pain on a Stalker going in, just because a lot of things in Praetoria are. That's the way the place was designed... But about half-way through the early arcs I seriously began to wonder if a Stalker had ganked Protean's puppy as a child or what. There's 'Hostile to Stalkers' and then there's 'Let's see just how useless we can make you, you sneaky jerks!', and whole swaths of First Ward fall solidly under that second heading.
I'm about to head there with another Stalker... I doubt my reaction this time will be any different, but I figured it was worth giving it a second chance. o_0 -
As i said before, i enjoyed the first ward, but rl time constraints have limited my ability to finish it, loved what i played so far though. and the seed of hami is the only thing in the game right now outside of lusca that i legitimately consider a giant monster. not a big lt like caleb, adamaster and the kraken. a giant MONSTER.

ya know, having run the warden line, he might not be hal f bad. I may be forgetting stuff, but he shares the trait of "not being horrible" with palatine. Also, for those who didnt have that many problems with cole, he would probably be useful in providing continuity of the transitional government and retaining the service of the warden loyalists. Incidentally, i havent finished fw yet, but isnt belladonna vertano still around? She has experience, at the very least.

Quote:well, we are forced to ask who has been a good leader? lord recluse is a tired sith retread with the central concept of having as much infighting as humanly possible for the laughably unrealistic goal of having "the strongest come out on top" despite massive internal attrition and a general lack of internal discipline. States is alternately aloof and ineffective. nemesis uses a bunch of silly and easily foil-able xanatos gambits. lady grey loses control of an entire division of her army. I mean really, who is a fit leader in coh? Part of this seems to come from a desire to not overshadow the player by making them the primary actor in the story. and part of it seems to come from the desire to keep the stories from being too complex to follow, so they are relatively simple. des's ascendance to power is part of a general character arc, she goes from being an evil lackey to a hero who takes a stand when a hero is needed. going deeper would be nice, but its not going to happen. would it be preferred that she was like blue steel and just negated actions at every step through the power of narration?Golden Girl, none of those people have demonstrated greater abilities besides raw psychic power, even then Aurora's power could not resist Tilman's, and I'm not sure how lucid Penny is, even then, she's had no real combat experience or leadership skill beyond serving as a contact.
And hell, Calvin Scott barely kept the Resistance together and his best tactic was "send out kids with bombs strapped to them to the hospitals! Suicide bombers are sure to send a message to Cole! Hahaha!" and he was apparently only able to lead the Resistance because DeVore was looking over his shoulder.
It makes me wonder why she let HIM lead the Resistance again and HOW has it held on for this long?
EDIt. reading you post, i dunno, palatine's primary power seems to be not screwing up as much and staying out of the way of the narrative, and not starting a costly and pointless internal war with groups with obvious shared goals when a metroid on steroids redecorates the landscape, i guess thats relatively good leadership compared to others, but that is the very definition of damning with faint praise. and noble savage is more muscle than real leadership, hes a nice guy, but what did he do exactly that showed he had leadership skills? and one is really forced to ask how effective a leader devore was, keep in mind, she tolerated having calvin scott in charge of her operations AND tolerated the various crusader contacts who seemed only too happy to murder civilians, control a drug trade and murder any number of people who are only tangentially related to cole. It could be argued that she is at least ad negligent as cole, as far as tolerating bat-nuts insane subordinates. -
strange, i thought right after the ssa 2 went live there were several threads on that very topic, i remember posting in a few of them. yes, I want those pieces. the unique pieces, as i see them, are the shoulders, the back detail spikes(seen in the bosses) and the gloves/boots. My primary interest is the back spikes, i really love the back spikes. as a back detail they would be great for players.
i will try to link to the other threads if i can find them. the response was generally very positive...ok heres one, apparently didnt post in the other so its tougher to find. http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=274965
the "who will die SSA2:your thoughts" thread also has a significant amount of discusssion on them, mostly positive, and much of the negative involves the coloration. -
Its likely if they maintin the justification of "invasion style enemeis are raids, individuals are content like da, but it could also eventually include rularru, he certainly has an army. and if they are enjoying revamping zones, the shadow shard has been requested heavily and some dev, think its posi, mentioned wanting to get to the shard eventually.

you know, i am not sure how much control of neutral stances there are, i'd imagine there would be issues with having transition animations to not make them look jerky, but a boxing stance would be one stance i'd love to see, also a karate back-stance, a muai thai fighting stance(hands up guarding face) and the low stance that ling xiaoyu uses in tekken.

you cant outspeed a ma/sr, man
plus, you got 2 pics i forgot. good catch, youda man.
one detail i'm noticing, at first i thought they were mostly bones and ribs, but i notice the scale like patterns giving them an organic look.like giant snakes. its like tim burton doing a pic of an oblivion gate . -

Quote:welcome back, was wondering what you were up to.So I been away for 6th months [buy paying my VIP amounts anyways]
So I logged int to mercy today briefly to do a mission and found out that I was in the middle of a Longbow base now. WTF?
So not I have the painful task of begging for a recap of the last couple issues so I have some ideas what the Hades is going on. -

ah cool, the 14 month deal, im paid up till 2013, but will probably jump on this, as you said, its basically 10 bucks a month.

Quote:fun is not a quantifiable sum. reward for time invested is not something to be taken lightly. why do you think the katie hannon tf was so popular when it was able to be rushed for good rewards, or why people do that now with the lgtf? because rewards, for long term play are what motivate people. Ok, i have no idea what this means. are your referring to the darker story? i cna see nothing at all appaling with fw's story, and in fact prefer the darker , grittier nature to ..well a lot of current content, but please explain what exactly you mean. Presuemable da will be a story about people fighting a ancient god of death, a powerful group of eastern sorcerers and followers of a group of exiled deities, im guessing it will have dark elements but otherwise be about heroes stomping the big bad and villians stealing some of its power for their own.I believe content should stand on its own merits. You all seem to accept that the I-Trials are lacking but think that the solution is to drag other aspects of the game down to keep these above water. Which is because you all know in your heart of hearts that the I-Trails are being kept alive by people playing them for the rewards, not for FUN.
I seem to be the only person that thinks thats mad. -
Quote:i admit i am utterly dumbfounded by people caring that much for the fog, it was cute gimmick, once or twice, after that you quickly realized it was a bandage over a zone with a great concept and nothing else going for it(even the "giant monster" was simply an upscaled bp minion. I mean yes, it was a neat trick but this is in answer to our requests for a incarnate path that is solo-small team capable AND its not the lazy cop out people were saying would happen with simply a tip missions setup AND it doesn't deal with praetoria which some players are tired of and we still are getting push back because of two gimmicks? You mention liking first ward, if anything first ward is one reason i'm confident they can make the zone more than an empty two trick pony, because they did good things with first ward, or the haunted house. So what im saying is, lets actually wait till we see what they do with the new zone in terms of atmosphere, because they have done some good stuff very recently with a death-focused supernatural zone. and the old zone will still exist in all its barren wonder for people in oroboros, so you can still enjoy fighting there to your heart's content witht he effect you like, but now we actually see a story that seemed to have been forgotten be developed.Circle of Thorns. That's why I'm nervous about the dev's updating something I liked. Don't get me wrong: I'm delighted that they're adding content to Dark Astoria, and I'm thrilled that they're adding solo/small team Incarnate content. But if they take away everything I like about Dark Astoria, then I'm going to be sad, no matter what they add or how cool it is. I mean, I think First Ward is a very cool zone, but I wouldn't want them to remove Croatoa to make room for it. I'm sure the new Dark Astoria will be very cool, but if they remove the current version to make way for it, I'll miss it.
I'm still holding out hope that the fog will still be there, just scaled back. After all, the fog was pretty annoying. And Positron did say something, didn't he, about some new atmospheric mood stuff that's kind of like weather but not really. If we had fog only on the ground, or only in the graveyards, or only at night, that would all be fine with me. And the ghosts.
Fog and ghosts may have been the only things DA had going for it, but they were pretty big things, utterly unique in the game. I've long advocated for content to be added to DA. I'll just be sad if the new zone loses everything good about the old zone.
as for the circle of thorns, i do wonder some times if that was not the start of a problematic trend in the forums. people snapped to judgement and made a fuss, even though they worked with incomplete information, but they got a win, so i have noticed the community now snaps to judgement and screams very quickly these days. It does make me feel worse for having been a part of the cot thing, as it seems to have taught the community to be unreasonable and to not wait till it has actual information to make a judgement. -
skyrim and zelda , and lost souls before them have taken some time for me, but might do some catch up this thanksgiving break. i have been playing WAY too much skyrim lately. not dropping vip though, thanks to those 14 month things, im here till january 2013 at the earliest, and given the broadening of the incarnate tsystem from the new incarnate zone, im unlikely to go at any time, gamble packs or not.

Quote:well, heres the thing though. those were the things that made the zone cool (the graveyard was nice too) but thats largely because the rest of the zone was nothing. the whole point of this is to make the zone immensely more cool. exclusive new enemies, likely new encounters and items on the map. after seeing first ward(and as i have been reminded, the haunted house), I have to say my faith in the devs ability to add elements to make a zone cool beyond the fog and flickering people if actully pretty high. so i understand your point, as it stands, dark astoria had 2 things going for it, the fog and the ghosts, now it will have more going for it. I am confused about why people thing there will be nothing added that will be as cool as a silly draw distance trick? If anything i expect the redo to amplify, not diminish the atmosphere, so we no longer need a parlor trick to give an otherwise unremarkable zone personality.I honestly didn't spend enough time on the map to remember that, but it sounds perfect. If the fog and ghosts disappeared completely from Dark Astoria then we would lose the best part of the zone. But I agree the fog made travel pretty annoying, especially teleporting. Some compromise is fine. But I'd hate to see them take away everything that made the zone cool.
-
I dunno, i love the idea. dark astoria has a thing in it of immense power, such that even diminished divines went searching for it. as beings that are growing in immense power ourselves, we grow from fighting the thing of immense power, its frankly better than i hoped, if we get the same with characters like merluna, rularru, leviathan and the like, i will be immensely happier with incarnate content. the fog and vanishing people were a nice trick in a forsaken zone. this moves the story forward and away from being praetoria centered, uses an existing zone rather than diffusing the game further AND expands 2 interesting but underutilized groups, the banished pantheon and tsoo, to higher level problems. there is nothing I dont like about this idea, for me its one of the best things the devs have done in a while. were it not for the gamble pack nonsense, id be walking on sunshine right now.
-
simple, remove the exclusivity of the parts. super packs should allow you to get the parts cheaper if gambling is your thing, but make sure players who dont gamble can buy the parts as well in a normal fashion. one way to maybe do some added value for vips is set the price high for the exclusives and give vip's a discount that would push them back to what regular price would be for comparable items. that way vips get the bonus, the gamblers still can take their shot, and non vips see one more value of being a vip. exclusivity is my stopping point, kill that and im fine with them.
one thing, i have seen people suggest paying slightly more for exclusive items relative to their non exclusive counterparts, I think that is a bad idea because it would give the appearance(if not the absolute reality) of an arbitrary price hike. at the very least vips should not have to pay more for items that are superpack exclusive than non-exclusive items of comparable value. note that i'm unsure of what an atio would be considered comparable so that allows some wiggle room, but costume sets that are exclusive to the gamble packs should not be more for vips than comparable costume packs, around 400 pts, depending on mount of parts. -
i was wondering as well, why no news or tweets from those panels? was it some kind of invite only affair?

unfortunate, dm was one of my favorite shows, and duckula was pretty funny too. kind of my gateway drug to brit-humor.

well, as per prometheus, the coming storm is the battalion, shivans arent implied to have much intelligence, so not much of a choice in the matter, they may even be something akin to the hydra, slaves used as disposable cannon fodder.
-
its a kmmo idea, hopefully feedback will get to ncsoft and they will get the hint that this thing wont work with coh's fanbase. the 15 emerits didnt go live, this will go through the same gauntlet.
oh and dark astoria revamp, woo, tsoo and bp , meaning a likelyhood of more cool asian themed stuff for the higher level tsoo..double woo. -
i expect my ignore list to grow by about 3-4 and for some who i have been giving a chance to going right back on. and to get auto logged out so often that it doesnt help.
