When is this? i fought one av with 3 ebs, was that it?
-
nah, there are plenty more reasons than just that
-
Well zwill, you guys do what you have to, I will not gamble for this game, and each "good" looking set that goes in this is one more reason i have to hang it up after 8 years. I play here for the variety of costumes, and yet another is being held from me, Hopefully we can eventually meet on a common ground, but i have not and will not cash in a single vet token for gambling, and so long as this remains the only way to get qsome quality costumes, it remains an open wound for me with coh.

nerd nitpick: wait, the olympic gods beat the titans in thogony.. did you get a downgrade?

i hate to say, but i played koa, and one of the consistant criticisms was that crafting was unbalanced. I didnt craft much, but i found even basic sagecrafting to add silly levels of power. so its all well and good to enjoy that, but not for a game with any hint of balance. and I think that applies to coh too. some attributes really affect balance when combined, and those combinations probably affected heavily what actually wound up being the attributes of things like alphas, hybrids and such.

it will likely do 2 things.
1, im going to spec into zapp on my emp/lit defender, thats the only ranged character i have that skipped her snipe.
2. i'm going to be a lot more aggressive with her about fortifying defenders. previously i used fort to buff the damage dealers first(scrap, stalk brute blasters, and v/heats) now i can put other defenders/corrs into insta snipe mode with the to hit buff, so going to have to make a note of that.(EDIT: yep, her fort buff is 22.50, so i can insta-snipe a ranged character with one buff application)
I keep forgetting about the secondary changes, that will likely make things easier too.
Im a brawler in spirit, i like a up close and personal beat down, so im not the biggest blaster guy(though if "poker face" hawk's hint is true, a /martial arts blaster WILL get rolled.) but they are fun when i run em. -
i suppose part of it is perhaps that its that beast. the best most of us probably think of for dear old dr mccoy is the blue furball(probably fewer of us associate him with the new lion-like beast, though i think its kind of interesting). Its a distinct look, it provides a nice contrast with his intellect and etiquette, it sticks in your head. beast with big hands and feet..ehh, not quite as distinct. I know that I like him, but he is blue, super agile, clever, and unusual looking, so that is kind of a given.

Quote:yes, they have, largely in regard with blasters percieved role as major damag dealers with little mitigation but actually not being quite as damaging.
Have folks been clamoring for blaster improvements all these years?
also, id expect snipes to get the once over, they really dont come up much in play, and I'm pretty sure they are heavily skipped. -
Quote:WEll, going by the op, because it didnt seem like a proper win because we didnt dominate him. To some eyes we "cheated"( i can see sun tzu and musashi miyamoto giggling at that concept) As has been mentioned by many people, the concept of a powerful villain being beaten by intelligent fighting over brute force has significant precedence, and the example he used is a character best known for being paint chip stupid, but i can see some of the point that if you view your character a a butt kicking force of nature, it may play against type to beat tyrant through craft rather than being a bipedal cement truck. as posi has mentioned though, thats what "the really hard way" is for.Why are we having a problem with a man that DROPPED A NUKE ON AN ENTIRE CITY FILLED WITH HIS OWN PEOPLE just so he could power himself up even more?
There are no niceties in that kind of a battle. You win however you can. Surviving proves you're better, not how you did it. -
Quote:I love it when she talks dirty. That should be interesting. I might actually drag myself out of bed for that. I'm most interested to see what players' reaction will be to adding [redacted], [redacted], and especially [redacted] to [redacted]. Although making [redacted] into something like [redacted] when your [redacted] is [redacted] will also be interesting. Especially for /devices. And even I don't know what Arbiter Hawk is thinking about adding to [redacted], [redacted], and [redacted] since they don't [redacted].

nah, I have way bigger things to regret.
i dont watch tv much, and dont catch many movies, so gaming is what fills those 2 spaces, and based on what i have seen on them, i'm not missing much. Just maintain a balance, meet friends, go hiking, lift something heavy, kick something really hard a few times, help some strangers for no discernible reason or whatever you find fulfilling, thats all that can really be done.
now gaming forums, oh hell yeah, i do already. -
voted, not a hard vote, mind you.

Quote:See i dont really care about dbz, goku is an idiot, he fights like a dolt. smart fighters find their opponents weaknesses and exploit them. reams upon reams of mythological stories involve the hero scouting out the weak point of their enemy or happening on it by chance and then using that to beat an overwhelming force. either with David hitting a weak point on an oversized armored warrior, susano o getting orochi drunk and then decapitating him, polyphemus being killed by having his eye impaled, lugh doing the same to balor, or achillies and... ya know. even willow and the pig trick(heck, also mad martigan and general kael). Its what heroes do, they triumph over brute odds with craft and wisdom.err..umm..spoiler alet.No for me and for my character would behave the same as Goku and Vegeta did in DBZ. Goku let Frieza fight at full strength to show he was better. Likewise, Vegeta could of beaten Cell but wanted to fight his ultimate form (which got Vegeta beaten) to prove his might.
plus its a poetic justice thing, tyrant's moral weakness was his underlings behavior, and the behavior of one of his underling serves to beat him, that's borderline monomyth territory. -
this year and most of last year had a lot of really good games come out, so my play time has decreased some. kind of the perfect storm of good single player action rpgs. also my work schedule has kind of fluctuated, but as for what i play, since i have most of the characters within reasonable distance of incarnates started on the path, i have been trying to go back and run lowbies, particularly ones with the new powersets.

if i recall, the wording of the screen flash after beating chimera suggests he is dead (his death triggers a failsafe or somesuch).

Thank goodness you are here, number 2 pencil man.

well, we are fighting praetorian hami, I want it to end BIG. My preference, though i wouldnt put it as an expectation, would be for there to be something dinosaur-like in the hami areas, he is about turning back the world to its natural state, and dinos were a part of that, and we got our 4 legged rig, so i'm really hoping for some form of dinos, even if they arent fully the same as their natural counterparts. beyond that there will be powers and stuff, not a huge concern for me, maybe the bio armor or natural affinity stuff, my big stake in this is that this is the best excuse for a non city city zone, and im really hoping they swing for the fences. its the end of praetoria's taking the primary place in the game, and its where our characters get to succeed where cole failed, im hoping its played to be a really over the top nature area.Quote:dark assualt would have been my guess. the "love" statement was made when they didnt get anything in the last round of powerset proliferation, so the next issue gave them a proliferated set, and a new primary. In context it made sense. that said snipes and also nukes could really use some rejigging. back in the day nuke crashes made sense, these days, i dunno, other power rebalancees have raised the general power level of other at's, so snipes and nukes could probably get a reexamination without tipping the balance of things.
The ranged powers thing is intriguing; last time we heard a similar statement about dominators, the "love" they got turned out to be what? Dark Control, right? So, love for the AT as a whole, but not for any already-existing doms. Hopefully this will be different; I'm thinking snipes might be getting looked at, now that the changes to stalkers' Assassin's Whatever powers can officially be considered a hit.
