Since the badge system doesn't award everyone who fights with a badge, only the person or team that does the most damage, which makes fighting Jack and others an every man for himself deal, unlike Luska and the Paladin construction,

    [/ QUOTE ]

Where do people get this stuff?

The only things that do not award a badge to everyone are regular monsters like the Synapse Task Force version of Babbage. Otherwise all giant monsters will give badges to everyone who paticipates as long as they do damage, or are on a damage dealing team.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The rules of the game have changed my friend.

Only the Paladin construction event and Luska are 'All comers paid' zone-events now.

Jack in Irons, Eochai, Kraken, Babbage, Jurassik, Adamastor are all "Damage Dealt gets the Goodies" badges.

And I suppose Sally could be considered the same, but she's weird and odd.

Although, umm, you are teaming to get the badge, regardless of if you accept a team invite or not. Unless you propose that you could have solo'd Jack in Irons. Then you were working with those other heroes to take him down.

And if you actually could solo Jack in Irons since the WL Giant Monster patch, your build needs to be readjusted, because something there is fruity.

    [/ QUOTE ]

When did they change this? Is there an official post on the matter?

I don't disagree that you should have a team to do these, but what if more than 8 people want to help with a giant monster? Do the extras get screwed if they don't do the most damage?

I definately think that these monsters should give the badge if your team does at least 20 or so percent of the damage. That way everyone is happy and they could possibly put in bigger giant monsters like Lusca, but ones that don't have multiple parts to beat on.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It was changed around the time of the Winter Lords, as to offical posts, I don't off hand. But that's the line you get from support now.

Surprised me too, unforunately . You might be able to find in the patch notes, but I'm not sure if it was ever explicitly mentioned.

    I5

    [ QUOTE ]
Monsters II. In the Jack/Eochai spawn in the north, I was at 3 of their spawns with my level 35... all 3 times a group of 8 level 50s got the badges... It wouldn't have bee nthat bad, except 5 of the 8 were present the entire time. I think it should be more like a Hamidon fight. Someone runs in and hits Hami once, they get the badge. A defender wails on a monster for the entire fight and ends up with naught because the team of 8 blasters/scrappers did more damage.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You mean Lusca or the Clockwork Paladin. There is no badge for defeating Hamidon. There is a badge for walking over his general location, but you don't necessarily have to defeat Hamidon to get it (or even have hamidon be defeated :P).

The only real benefit the level 50s have over the lower levels against Eochai and Jack is their power selection and enhancement slots. They're Giant Monsters, level isn't really a factor in determining damage/yada.

    One quick question...

When you datamine you do have the ability to just datamine characters of a certain level right? Say oh.... 44+? I mean no need to datamine EVERYONE when they aren't even eligible to do the tf's.

I personally don't mind doing "good" tf's over. Hell i've exemped down to do posi with friends when i was level 24 with no debt. Was still fun. But traveling the shard and doing that quarterfield *shudder* tf again just makes me ill thinking about it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Given the timeframe given, I doubt the logs are that stratified.

I greatly suspect that the dataminig process is similiar to a "grep -in "completed Positron Taskforce" with a pipe to regexp to parse out the heroes name and award the badge... Just given the timeframe given for datamining for Taskforces (both back in I2 and the prospective time-frame for I5).
  5. New badge for a Hollows Task Force? I'm just going to assume this refers to something else entirely, because the Cavern Trial has a badge already and I don't know of any TF there.

In any event, hoping for sooner rather than later. As you said, they are the biggest pain in the butt. Hopefully the new TFs will be engaging enough so that people will -WANT- to do them again.
  6. [ QUOTE ]
I'll pop in here so you guys have a new target.

The original Task Force Datamine took 3 months to finish. That was to go over 2 months worth of data.

We now have 18 months worth of data. We looked for a more effecient solution, but our estimates still come out at 2 years to datamine and get you your badges.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hmm, did the datamine for I2 start while it was on Test, then? Just odd, swore the datamining finished within a couple weeks of I2 launch. I know I personally got my TF + mission badges by the 2nd day after I2 launch...

In any event, it sucks. Anychance of a timeframe for improving the Fun factor for Shard TFs then?

    [ Edit / Add ]
grep -in "Congratulations, you have completed X TaskForce" *
    result failed :P.
  7. For an odd reason that can't be substationated, I seem to recall Statesman talking about new tracking technology that was added to the game with the badge system, to reduce the need for 'backtracking' badges, and assurances that after Issue 2/Badge release we shouldn't need to go back and do stuff over for credit...

It's just odd to me, given that it was certainly possible to datamine TFs for I2, even to individuals who did not recieve souvenirs because of the timing glitch.

I'll be honest, I haven't done these taskforces. I may do them after I5, I may not. I don't particularly find this idea 'good' though.

Hoping that folks see and realize... Prolly not, but, umm, this is still a Dev Response thread right?
  8. Whenever I try loading this macro, I keep getting this odd ugly error spam in global repeating the contents of the various binds more or less. Except it truncates (at $$window_hide_tray$$b).

Consequently, it doesn't really work for me, so how do I fix this problem .
  9. Hmm, I'm fairly certain the smoke nerf was after I1. I started after the cap was raised to 50, and I remember the smoke grenade discussions.

How blasters needed the stackable uber Accuracy Debuff to survive because of how frail they were. I do think it was before I2 came out though.

    Open Questions

Will we ever get to look as cool as Recluse? Or have that type of props?

Will heroes ever look as cool as villains?

Global chat is cross server chat. I'm looking forward to it because you talk as an account rather then a character, so it doesn't matter what character you log on as. Most of my friends aren't on my server, so it'll be good for me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

First I've heard that it was multi-server/acct tagged. I thought it was Interzone Chat myself.
  12. The +1 mobs in missions are frustrating for me as a Controller if I am trying to solo a mission.

Because quite simply, if one of the boss critters gets tagged with the +1, I have a Red Boss to deal with in that mission, and almost certainly one that I can't kill unless I can get him alone (which is also hard because I can't kill much of anything in a single AE Hold cycle).

The Mission Difficulty Slider would/will be a great thing though when it comes out, especially for groups.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
Ah - therein lies the issue. Personally, I see the level 40 minion in a whole class than a level 5 minion. They're from other dimensions. They're equipped to the teeth with experimental weaponry. They're giant robots bristling with missiles.

When you say "they're not different", it's straw man because I never said that the rank (i.e. minion) changes meaning over levels. To me, the difference is, and should be the level.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, then it breaks down to you doing the exact same thing for 50 levels just with different graphics...

Not sure how much I enjoy that prospect myself though. Course for myself, it's particularly worse, since as I advance, I become less fit and able to combat equal level minions (silly hit point escalation without damage escalation).
