  1. You can transfer to the EU servers, I actually did one the night before last. Someone pointed out to me that even though the list truncates you can sort it by clicking on the headers.

    Image for reference:

  2. Less then a week for the contest!

Make sure you get your entry in.

Let me say this: please, keep doing it if the bosses let you. I think the good majority of us like having you around and actually in the community you serve.

I really hate bumping something and saying THIS, but really... this.

It makes the game more interesting when you guys can pop in occasionally to hang out, chat, or create mayhem. I honestly wish we had server community reps who did this sort of thing on a more regular basis.

I'll have to see if I can make it. I'll make sure I set a reminder for myself so I don't forget but I'm not sure if i'll be in town that day or not.

Typically you can get a raid going with about 25-30 people. Max in zone is 50 of course. Monster Hunt is first phase, and during that you leave your inspiration tray with open slots because Essense of the Earth inspirations can drop and those are your only defense against hamidon type damage (normal defense and resist powers are useless against hamidon). Then when hami spawns -- which is random, can be right away or can take over half an hour -- teams regroup, buff up, and attack.

Before attacking hamidon you have to kill the mitos. Yellow mitos are attacked by melee characters -- they can't be attacked at range. They do big damage so the tank team needs to taunt them. Blue mitos are vulnerable to range, and can't be attacked by melee. They drain endurance. The green mitos heal. Typically you have teams of melee taking down the yellows while the tank team taunts them, and teams of ranged damage taking down the blues at the same time, then everyone attacks the greens, and all the while the main tank is taunting hamidon itself and has one or more support people keeping him/her alive.

And there are 4 waves... when hamidon reached 75% health, all of the mitos respawn. Same thing at 50% and 25% health.

In the old days teams would evac out after each respawn and reset everything, rebuff, and head back in for the next wave. Nowadays teams buff before the respawn and when the mitos respawn they move directing into mito clearing mode. Also, it's very typical to fight through the last wave instead of clearing the mitos -- eat an EoE and keep attacking hamidon until dead, while the tank team goes back to taunting the yellow mitos.

Sometimes people attempt to push through at 50% or even 75%, but that can be very dangerous if you fail because you can have a double or even triple mito bloom.

Something else that I've never actually participated in is a nuke raid -- everyone has warburg nukes and uses them all at once. I believe they'll clear the first mito spawn before doing this, but the idea is to nuke hamidon into the ground as fast as possible, without messing with the mito spawns. I know Virtue did one of these back in January I think.

Anyway. I've only been on one hami raid since I20 went live, and that was a redside raid on a weekend.
Hami raids on Virtue are basically dead, though I know some people have been trying to resurrect it. My life and weekend schedule keeps interfering with me being on for red raids.

But yeah incarnate trials pretty much killed hami a long with the zone crashing/reward roll backs right after launch of the last issue.
  6. I always thought they were players from Beta who won a contest of some sort to be included.
  7. Just a quick update on the current two contests.

User Survey Contest for Commissions -
    Ending June 1st!
I've gotten lots of great feedback and I'm in the process of addressing some of those items already. I'll try to post a list of questions people had here as well. One thing already added was the new Feature Article FAQs, and we've also started posting the reviews of pages that were nominated for Feature and whether they were approved or declined.

Palladium Sentry VirtueVerse Profile Content for 1 Billion Inf -
    Ends May 30th!
Get your page posted onto their contest page for consideration.

Quite a few people actually still hang out in Atlas, sure you run the risk of running into an annoying god moding noob but it tends to be a lot less... dramatic and cliquish then Pocket D is.

But like someone else mentioned check out VirtueVerse, quite a few of the active groups still have detailed pages there.

But yes a lot of the super groups nowadays are very insular, and the community itself is splintered, but there are some people trying to do more community oriented events and RP. There is nothing wrong with getting a bit outside of your comfort zone RP wise. Outside of the comfort zone is more fun anyways.
  9. Added Roleplayers LFT to the OP, its a virtue based global channel for forming RP teams.

I'll have to check this one out.
I've personally never gotten much out of global channels for RP, but that may just be me and my insular anti-social ways. Well and I also tend to stumble into RP rather then go looking for or organizing it.

But again my idea of fun RP tends to deviate far to the left of most people on the server, the response I got on RP Virtue inviting people to a RPvP event was not very warm.

The problem with too many channels on a single topic is you start to lose people's attention with too much noise. You also start to splinter the already splintered community more and more.

The thread I mentioned before for role playing global channels is:

And now we have this one.

There is a thread in the Roleplaying area for Roleplaying global channels, might want to post there as well and I'll see about getting it added to the list for Virtue, assuming this channel is Virtue only.
  12. Oh huh, so there was a thread for this. I noticed this myself trying to transfer from Virtue to union. I PM'd Zwill about it and he said he passed it along as a issue. It definitely seems like there is a missing scroll bar as I can see two EU servers and some NA servers but not all of them.

Color me stupid, how did you sort? I didn't even think to click on the headers to sort the list.
  13. As requested by a few people in the user survey we've started to post reviews to the talk pages of nominated feature content that has been declined. We'll attempt to provide a basic idea of why a page was declined and some actionable feedback.

These reviews will be posted anonymously through the White Stig bot account.

We will also be posting a notice on the talk page for pages that have been approved and added to the list of Featured Articles to be randomly selected from so that authors are aware they've been nominated and approved for Feature.
  14. Already entered the Virtueverse contest myself! I'll have to see if I can attend the in game events.
  15. Subjective:

Only thing I can add that others haven't is can we please get the Class Steampunk pattern added for use with the tucked in pants?

And going to reiterate please please please please sleeveless versions of the jacket options.
  16. Wow these are adorable!

I'll definitely have to see about commissioning one, but it will sadly need to wait until June, my discretionary fun money for May is all gone to the VirtueVerse/UnionVerse contest.

I remember seeing last years someone else who had made some plushies for the game stalker, very cool idea overall.

The forums don't get a ton of use but they're there for users who have questions and don't want to use the main forums and as a easy way for users on both wiki's to prod me with wants/needs. (I didn't have a profile on UnionVerse for a long time).

About two weeks left for this contest. And I have another contest that will be going up today for VirtueVerse thats being hosted/sponsored by the Palladium Sentry for its 3rd Anniversary Gala.

  20. Lets put this into some perspective. Here is a graph showing sales for ALL NCSoft games over three quarters. Notice how most of the other games exhibit the same trending? Even the more populous games?

Its called a bad economy people. People are still hurting and lacking jobs or discretionary spending money. Its not doom.

    1Q09 6,837
    2Q09 6,673
    3Q09 5,471

    Then the 15 months after:

    4Q09 3,928
    1Q10 3,348
    2Q10 3,491
3Q10 5,709 (GR sales temporary spike)
    4Q10 3,239
    1Q11 3,055

Although the past year is still decreasing but is doing so with a more tapered rate. To me that might appear that decrease will mostly be from the merits of the game instead of a need to cut expenses.

But since the quarterlies doesn't specify the cost per game, we can't really know how low it can go before NCsoft will consider it as no longer financially viable. If the cost is way lower than that then it can still go for years.

But the decline is still somewhat worrying for me, since if it does keep decreasing that means more cost cutting somewhere.
And you're a fool if you think the crisis isn't still effecting the bottom line for most of the people in the world. Belt tightening happened, people dropped things that were entertainment and expendable, they go out to eat less, they don't go to the movies as often, people dropped things like cable and home landlines. Toss in the seasonal gas price hike stateside and other MMOs that have launched recently and you can easily see how those numbers could drop or go down.

Even other games posted decreases in Q1.

I'm personally interested myself to see if there is an increase with the PSN outage.

It's sad to see such a solid game find an all-new low in earnings with every quarter. But the answer is before us as had been mentioned: F2P. Problem is, NCSoft simply does not understand or like F2P.
Yes thats right hardware downscaling thats why they want us to try and get more then 3500 people on at once to test load on Freedom on the 27th.

  23. Its also important to note that these are numbers reflected during a major economic down turn.

Every sector has been seeing losses.

So its really not that abnormal. In fact its impressive considering its a 7 year old game that they got the bump they did with GR launched.
  24. As much as I would like to modify the existing spoiler extension I am absolutely maxed out on time with trying to test global accounts on both wikis, make changes that were identified as needed from the survey and still have a life.

It will most likely be months before I get a chance to look at this as it sound like a cool change it is a largely cosmetic one so it goes a bit further down the to do list then other more needed changes like some of the back end work for php configuration settings by site, global accounts, or much needed expansion/updates to the tutorials/help pages on both wiki.

Perhaps someone else is a php developer and is willing to take a stab at extending the spoiler extension code?

This is the extension we are currently using: http://vanishingpointwiki.com/wiki/MediaWiki:Spoiler
  25. Looks like I might finally get some free evening time coming up, so maybe I can get some more work done on the Goblin Queen piece to finish it up. Also might have some lines of my own to offer up. *ominous*
