To echo: make our inherents inherent. Make criticals return us to hide. Give us a higher hp cap or replace +hp powers with something useful.

My friends,
I send you this message from the depths of space and so I must be brief before I go out of range.
Myself and proud members of Liberty Force tracked down what was once Monica. She had become a twisted tyrant of her own private dimension, and while we were able to defeat her into submission, not before she activated a portal to Praetoria!
We could not allow her to wreak havoc on another world, but our attacks only destabilised the portal as it was powered from the other side, causing it to open a rift into deep space!
While some counselled that she should be killed, I took it upon myself to grab her and some air inside my shield and take us both into space where she can harm no one!
I tried to reason with her while our air lasted, but it appears Monica has been overwhelmed by the compulsion of her programming. A irresistable compulsion that will only make her cause more suffering!
I can sustain her lifeforce with my own for some time. I do not know exactly where I will take her, but I plan to find a place to hide her from her allies until we can return to help her and remove this compulsion.
Unfortunately, I expect to be some time in doing so. The cosmos is vast and full of danger.
I apologise again for my absence. Know that I think of you always, my friends. Athena, little Yessica, and especially Donna, all of you. Until then, look to the stars!

Civil. name ironic.
have left Liberty Force. combination of factors. Civil only a trigger.
lack of recognition: still denied security protocol access (can hack. not the point). lack of support. no trust. no friends.
honesty: speculate further personal reasons. social awkwardness around Dennis. depression following recent illness; feelings of inadequacy, feeling that personal sacrifice has gained nothing, isolation, loneliness.
did not need further denigration.
ashamed of personal weakness. will seek other methods + resolve.

Quote:/signed. Really hard. This seems like a fantastic idea and -would- allow Resistance based sets to leverage Hide more.Prior to this thread, I too have called for Hide to be made an Inherent Power of the Stalker AT, so as to free up a power slot. Along the same lines, I would even go so far as to say that Assassination (the current Inherent) should be reconfigured so as to replace Assassination Strike as well ... which would free up 1 power slot in both the Primary and the Secondary of every Stalker Powerset.
All of the current "assassination" info about dealing double damage from Hidden and so on would be moved into the (new) Inherent Hide gained at Level 1.
All of the Assassin Strike attacks would be transferred into the (new) Assassin Strike Inherent (dependent on Primary) that would be gained at Level 6.
Now ... above and beyond that (pair of) change(s) ... there is something that I would love to see done universally to all Stalkers.
Change Stalker Criticals
Right now, Critical Hits from Stalkers, either when delivered from Hide or when scrapping it out in normal combat simply deliver DOUBLE DAMAGE (with a couple exceptions, which still need explaining). This is, broadly speaking, identical to Scrapper Performance as far as this goes. The only real difference is the "100% chance to Crit" from Hide that sets Stalkers apart from Scrappers in this area.
What if ... instead ... Critical Hits when NOT Hidden operated as "free" Placate of affected $Target(s) and regain Hide effect ... which then turned your next attack after an unHidden Crit into a (100% chance to) Critical Hit From Hide for double damage?
Essentially, Stalkers would "flicker" in and out of Hidden status while in combat ... and be dealing *all* of their double damage effects while Hidden, because Stalkers would be able to "vanish" during regular combat when they "Crit" while NOT Hidden.
Over an infinite time span, the difference between the system we've got now, and what I'm proposing would be no dramatically meaningful gain or loss of DPS (or even DPA, really) when averaged out over infinite time. However, within finite time spans, especially of 20 seconds or less ... there would be a rather marked performance (and gameplay!) differential away from what we've already got on the Live Servers. Stalkers would essentially turn into "freestyle combo builders" for delivering double damage.
When Hidden:
Primary Attack(s) automatically Critical for Double Damage.
When NOT Hidden:
Primary Attack(s) that Critical immediately Placate $Target(s) affected by your attack (for 4 seconds?) and restore Hidden status ... granting your NEXT attack an automatic Critical for Double Damage (see "when Hidden" above).
For my game mechanical design of gameplaying challenges, this seems like a far more interesting way to achieve the necessary "Uniqueness" that the Stalker AT is currently lacking. You wouldn't even need to change the current game mechanic of Stalkers having a 10% Crit +3% Crit per Teammate within 30 ft that the AT already has. The whole point of this change is to better leverage the existing Hide Mechanics so as to bolster the unique playstyle that the Stalker should have and encourage. Stalkers would *flicker* in and out of Hidden status somewhat constantly while in combat, and attentive players (who aren't just button mashing) would be able to take advantage of that to achieve better results ... ie. Player Skill is Rewarded.
The beauty of it is that this change wouldn't even be "that difficult" to implement. All the necessary parts and pieces of Game Engine Tech already exist within the game. It's just a matter of someone like Second Measure "liking the idea" and deciding to put it on the schedule for someone like Synapse or Black Scorpion or Arbiter Hawk to implement.
Along with the usual things asked for:
- +HP cap (so we can actually use our +HP powers)
- Make Placate a 5-target AoE (so we can actually placate and return to hidden against large groups and especially ambushes
I don't especially mind about making Assassin's Strike inherent (even though the power it replaces is almost always better), but making Hide inherent seems like a no-brainer.
Cheers! -

good news. in remission. almost recovered. remember thank Auxiliary & Kate.
bad news. Dennis rejection. curious: expected disappointment still disappointing. values personal strength and favours own species. also implied i am annoying. however, he already formed new friendships with young violent suicidal alcoholic girls (Hailey cross-ref.Hella Hardcore). stung a little. jealous not of her but him. makes friends easily despite cultural differences + antisocial gruffness + etc.
attempted visit pocket d to widen own social network. intimidating. pre-existing social cliques. Quantanimator's assistance not enough. will try again later date.

Quote:This is already the case. Store-only Enhancement boosters can make any in-game IO better than is otherwise possible. Store-only Mystic Fortune and Secondary Mutation provide unique and noticeable benefits.IMHO the backlash would be huge if they only offered the best IOs through the store.
We already pay-to-play, and that's great. I don't mind paying more to play more (more options, more content, whatever).
But pay-to-win is horrible.
Enhancement boosters are already just paying for minor server math (absolutely no content, just higher numbers). Make them available as in-game drops or vended for and they would just be a minor and dull endgame power up.
If the AT IOs are store-bought only too, then the gap between the haves and the have-nots will just grow wider. I'd prefer to be more inclusive. -
Quote:My Dual Pistols/Kinetics/Mace Corr still has uneditable costumes. It seems to be a problem centered on Beam Rifle characters. I just checked my Dual Pistols/Energy Manip blaster and my TA/A defender, both of whom have Mace Mastery, and their costumes are unlocked and work fine.
So it seems to be a Beam Rifle/Mace Mastery conflict here.
I haven't tried the second build workaround yet. -
Dual Pistols/Kinetics/Mace corruptor.
I've also tried setting costume to bare, changing the mace, etc. I've wasted about 5 million so far, and no result. -

Following a recent newspaper article (see here), I feel it is necessary for Liberty Force to state it's position clearly: We will not be divided by slander.
Following our own investigation it is now clear that Crey framed us, no doubt with the aid of some villains we have yet to apprehend. We might not have the lawyers and resources to prove as such in the unfortunately fallible US Courts, but there is evidence enough for my own judgement.
We will stand united and strong against crime and corruption, wherever it may be, and no matter what weapons it wields.

Not overpowered, at least that's not what -I'm- saying. I'm saying -Wasted- power. Makes the shields and/or Dwarf form redundant, which is a shame.
Lightform would be fine as is, if the rest of the set was jiggled around it. Maybe the shields or Dwarf gave some defence, for example. -
Quote:I'd even be fine keeping the psi hole. I don't think it makes much sense, but I could accept it.Most people are not saying to lower the overall resistance here; it has been suggested that they lower the wasted resistance that goes over the cap and add in some psi resistance instead. That would actually increase survivability.
But it would take more than Psi resistance to make me go to Dwarf if I already have capped resistance to everything else. The investment in enhancement slots is -huge-, and the loss of damage and utility is pretty huge too.
If they want to increase survivability, give us defence. But personally, I'm more concerned about increasing damage even when solo, and making us an asset to teams (via whatever means. KB>KD, more support powers, more mez, whatever). -
No one wants to decrease PB survivability, only make all our powers balanced and effective.
-
TL ; DR version: Give us -LESS- resistance. Give us something we can use.
The inherent, the shields, the godmode, and the Dwarf form all compete to give us capped resistance, such that in most situations most of these powers are wasted (at the moment, Light Form is by far the most attractive option, since it offers everything without requiring massive slot investment).
PB and WS powers need to be reformulated so that they cannot cap their own resistance without even trying. The inherent needs to be less intense (such that we're still competent when solo, and not completely wasting +res while teamed). And +resistance support from teammates would become useful.
WS powers need to be reformulated so that a proportion of their capped +damage is added into the powers directly. The resulting DPS for perma-whatever builds should remain the same, but non-perma builds would be much more viable. And while teamed, WSs would actually gain a benefit from a teammates +damage support.
For PBs for example, if Light Form were to grant Defence like Moment of Glory, it would be a useful godmode over and above our already high resistance. I would happily sacrifice the +resistance component entirely for this, and have the duration reduced such that it can't be made perma.
And in my opinion, PBs need to deal -more- damage than WSs. Warshades bring to a team some controller-y aspects. PBs bring.. PBAoE KB. -
Yeah, my concern is that warshades -only- shine when heavily IOd. Some changes in the same fashion of the Dominator changes might be good (where Domination +dam was baked directly into the powers). Those changes wouldn't debuff those who are already perma-whatever, but will raise the performance of those that aren't.
Basically, reformulate the powers so that PBs and WSs don't need to be constantly at the resistance and +damage hardcaps to be effective. And we have less ability to reach those caps without outside buffs. -
-
Quote:Do that Dom and Warshade have similar levels of IO slotting?Comparing my WS to my fire/fire/fire dominator, I would say they are fairly close in damage but I would give the edge to the dominator. The Dom has more single target, control and Mez protection but the Warshade is much tougher. Its a fairly reasonable tradeoff.
How well would they compare on SOs or pre50?

Following from last weeks investigation (filed here), we found the Red Legion again caught us unprepared. It seems their plans allow for civilians captured from buildings nearby as well.
We responded quickly, and together with soldiers from Ares, we traced the mages through a portal back to their lair. Although we secured it, their mysterious leader, Scarlet wasn't to be found. Instead, only demons and mind-controlled body doubles were left to mock us.
I believe three tasks are left to us:
- We must find a way to stop the 'suicide spell' which is stopping us from taking any cultists in alive. It is a tragic loss of life.
- We must trace whatever this Scarlet's power source is, and stop it.
- We must capture Scarlet herself.
To that end, with consultation with some of the other long-standing members of the Liberty Force, I believe we should move forward without heirarchy or division between us. We should stand united as equals, where each of us pursues our own initiative, but with due respect for the initiative of others and always in a spirit of cooperation.

(( So basically, removing the ranks as IC things. No council, no security access protocol, etc. I'm thinking more Avengers/Justice League than a military organisation. Instead, the ranks will reflect the member's general standing within the group; as follows:
- Ally. For those too cool to be actual members, but are closely associated with us anyway. Eg. Dusk.
- Sidekick. For those who believe they're not fully fledged heroes yet, and require mentorship. Eg. Will of the North, Crash
- Hero. Basic sorta rank for most members.
- Trusted Hero. Basic sorta rank for those trusted with SG secrets, security access and stuff like that. Note that if a member becomes generally untrusted (say, for example, they're crazy), they can be bumped back down to Hero.
- Leader. The hero who is most respected at the moment, and so has the casting vote on important things and is generally the person who other folks look to for direction. Will be shifted around as attitudes change. Generally only listed here because SGs mechanically require one.
Any input on these things, or are we cool to go ahead?
Another outstanding issues: We need a motto! I'm thinking 'For Liberty', for nice and simple?
And for folks wanting to help resolve this case, please do show initiative and resolve things! Contact @Echo 13 for queries, etc.
Cheers for any input! )) -
So... the difference between Broadsword and Katana?
If it was funky, sure. It's technically a new powerset. Not all new powersets need shiny new mechanics.
I'd also support just adding new anims to old sets, but probably wouldn't pay for those as much. -
Why have the toggles suppress? If they just carried over into forms, it would make both the forms and the shields much more attractive and easier to use. That's all toggles too; assault, etc. And while we're at it, let my Dwarf click hasten. Integrate the forms into the AT.
If the AT mods cannot be altered on the fly (such that Nova gets less benefit from the shields for example), then a swap ammo trick can be used to swap the value with a reduced one. Nova would still be getting decent numbers from Tough and Weave, but whoopdie-do, Blasters get an Epic pool with superior armour powers.
I think our goal should be to make each form not just a plug for the holes in the Kheld's abilities, but a fully-fledged and useful way of fighting in their own right. Shouldn't require massive changes, just a difference in emphasis. With Taunt autohitting and Mez becoming less of an issue (so Dwarf isn't a glorified break free) I'd say we're making great strides to it. -
Big up to the Devs here. I know it's a bit of a kick in the teeth, I mean, you start making some changes and then a hundred players see something and come out of the woodwork to cry 'moar!'. But ya know, it -is- appreciated; we'd all just love to see the AT become a welcome addition to a team, rather than just an underdamaging scrapper that brings Cysts and PBAoE Knockback.
Yeah, the caps are fine as they are (maybe a bit more max HP), but the AT should be designed to work within them, rather than butt-heads against them constantly. It means we benefit -less- from teaming because we can't be buffed by outside sources (and this is a problem for PB and WS alike).
Proposal:
Renormalise the powers so that the AT functions well -without- being buffed to the cap at all times, and to balance, also curtail our ability to get to that cap without outside sources.
Implications:
This means our inherent will only provide a smaller buff (maybe up to +20% resistance or damage), but we'd still be capable while solo.
This means that Warshade's mire/eclipse wouldn't be as strong, but you wouldn't -need- perma-eclipse or whatever to do the damage you're doing already.
This means that the forms can provide buffs that will actually be beneficial, rather than wasted against the caps.
Cheers! -
Quote:Warshades can keep both their copies of Mire, if need be. Or just have one copy, but buff it.One big idea comes to mind: Change Ammo. Allowing forms to work in a Change Ammo capacity creates a nice situation where forms augment the base human form, perhaps with a damage buff, proc, or group proc, while preventing any one form from being the best. Realistically, this also means less attacks as human form attacks would be allowable to be used if a Change Ammo mechanic is implemented, meaning that this is pretty much a pipe dream.
Likewise, it bears mentioning that any big form changes made to PB are almost certainly going to apply to WS whether they like it or not, potentially crippling the WS by extension. Utilizing the above example, a Change Ammo system would cause the WS to lose double Mire, mostly because there'd be no need for dwarf attacks.
