how was it obviously "broken"? you could get A-Merits without ever running a tip mission before, cost 50 hero merits and 20 million
-
Quote:except you can purchase an A-merit for 20 mill and 50 hero merits without ever running a tip missionWell, to be honest, perhaps it's not an exploit so much as it was, "We didn't intend to have the rewards handed out in this fashion." If they want the merits to tie into the Alignment system (I should remind folks that both SSAs and Alignment are things that F2Ps and Premiums have to buy!) then making it a pre-requisite that you had to be a confirmed (aka, 10 tips + Morality) Hero/Villain makes perfect sense.
-
Quote:what prerequisite? You can get an AM for 50 regular merits and 20 millions without ever having to run a tip.No, you need to run ONE once you're already at a Hero or Villain alignment. That's what "reaffirm" means.
As far being a "wrong choice to make with no warning or discussion," they're just giving SSAs the exact same prerequisite as other content for awarding Alignment Merits. I'm not going to argue that the change is annoying, but it makes perfect sense to me. -
Quote:you cant do thatTry the following: roll a CEBR brute. Powerlevel to 10 and turn off XP. Speedrun the first SSA, random-roll the resulting A-merit at Fort Trident, and dump the results on the market for 10 inf. Take your profits, mail them to your global, and delete the character. Repeat.
I'm betting that, with practice, you can get your cycle time down to under 20 minutes: 3 A-merit random rolls per hour for as long as you care to keep going. -
-
Quote:may not have been working right then cause Ive run it more than that with this particular alt and he has gotten the AM every timeThe first time you run a given SSA arc, you get a 'first-time only' reward where you can pick from the table.
After that, you can only get a given reward 1/week.
So after SSA4 rolls out, you can get 5 AM the first week (4 bonus + 1 normal), then 1 AM/week after that. -
Quote:I'm not following you...but even when it's more than 3 SSA's it's only a one time deal that you'll get more per week than tips, as each arc shares a cooldown on each reward.
I ran pt 1 got a hero merit, immediately ran pt 2 got a hero merit, I would figure pts 3-7 would do the same... so by the time pt 4 rolls out, it would be 4 AM via SSA and 3.5 via tips, per week -
Quote:1 AM per week, via SSA, 3.5 AM per week, via tipsHow fast is it to do tips? The figure I usually hear is about an hour.
When you can explain how 1 hour is faster than 10 minutes, then you'll have a point. Until then, no, it's not "still quicker."
tips are faster... at least until they have more than 3 SSAs available -
Quote:so which is it? are the devs for or against farms? if the devs approved, why would farm builders think they are at risk? if they didn't approve, why aren't the devs doing something about it?And what's to stop players from lying because they don't want their stuff labeled as a farm and risk getting it banned and losing a publishing slot.

IMO its the only non-weapon set that looks good with a shield
-
what would make more sense is if you are currently on the blue side you go to blue side destinations, and if you are on the red side you go to red side destinations.

Quote:after the initial screen of character creation you never see the "type" classification again, you do however see AT types, all the time, in the game...Taking into account how new players view the archetype on the character creation screen, placing Corruptors, dominators, etc in a sub-folder under their "Type" isn't such a bad idea. I'm all for consolidation of the forums. I'm more concerned with how it will be implemented.
-
Quote:Controllers, defenders, and dominators also have melee attacks in their APP/EPP. I know scrappers and tanks that gear towards ranged attacks.
These are largely exceptions.
The vast majority of dominator & blasters attacks are ranged. They're largely a ranged ATs. Breaking them up in this way, FOR THE SAKE OF NEWBS SIMPLE UNDERSTANDING, makes much more sense.
for the sake of "newbs" it would be easier to go... "I have a defender, let me look in the defender forum for my answer"... -
Quote:but what about dominators/blasters who are geared towards melee? listed are some examples (and the number of melee powers): Fire Manipulation (6), Ice Manipuation (5), Energy Manipulation (5), Electric Manipulation (7), Earth Assault (6)

Quote:I was a new member a little over a year ago, and I found nothing confusing about the AT portion of this forum. it was the player help/city life forums that I found redundantWhile I certainly appreciate your viewpoint:
What if we provided guidelines so that posts were easily identifiable within each forum?
I don't particularly view it as pigeonholing, simply as...well...simplifying. There's a rather large amount of forums to sift through here on our boards, and to a new, or even veteran player who hasn't spent time on the forums, it's a bit confusing.
Forums should be easy to understand at a glance. -
Ill (try to) be there... Ill have to build something really quick though...

I just rolled up a Elec/MA and so far Im having fun with it, though its a bit end heavy (now I remember why I deleted my only other electric armor tank) we will see where it goes...

Quote:though there have been some workarounds mentioned (thanks) it is still more difficult...Wrong.
As has been pointed out earlier in the thread you can simply log in and do a /friend and
previously: while driving home from work "I have an idea for a character", log in, check name, if available proceed"
now: "I have an idea for a character" log in, enter game with a different character, check name, if available, log off back to character select screen, then proceed"
while the name reservation is nice, I don't see how removing the name checker from the character select screen is an improvement. -
Quote:If I'm full on a server, as I usually am on my home server, I just check names using /friend. If the character exists, they will be added to your friend list. If the character does not exist, it will give you the message "Soandso does not exist or is not online". The "or is not online" is a lie. If they aren't online, they'll still be added to the friend list. I have yet to have this not be the case, and I've made plenty of characters whose names were checked that way.
