Other than converting characters to inherent fitness, I haven't played a character that isn't 50 since i19. I suspect I won't be leveling anything up anytime soon. Maybe when all my 50s have their alpha slot slotted.

I really dislike this sort of method of costume code giveaways.
Any chance Black Pebble could come up with a way of selling these sorts of codes in a Booster Pack? -

5 Minutes is waaaay too long. Its just more reason to use Shubbie's auto complete the mission suggestion.
Yes, I've completed the Honoree mission on 10 characters so far and its been a breeze. Even so, I've been hit by the Curse twice and it really sucks and lasts too long when you got lots of ambushes and have to fight 2 EBs.
I'm thinkning of just auto compleing the mission due to "bugged" duration of Curse of Weariness being excessively long.
Quote:I think only one person is claiming the Curse makes the mission impossible. The rest of us simply think that a 5 minute duration is insane. I got hit with the thing twice on one character when I did this in beta and it just meant running away and sitting there twiddling my thumbs for 5 minutes waiting for it to wear off. That's not fun for a pretty much pointless ability. That curse ended up being the only thing I disliked about the arc. -
I'm responsible for 4 of those. 1 by me and 3 by friends who found out about the patch from me.

Here is what I did so far.
1. Poor AI pathing syndrome: Got him stuck on the rocks in the lava. Sat there loling while he slowly died in the lava while I just stood around and watched.
2. Smash Poisoning: I Smashed him with my scrapper's fists.
3. Buff/Debuff: Got a defender to join my controller and we blew him away in 6 seconds. -
I thought it was funnier watching Trapdoor die in the lava due to a bad pathing AI. My character just stood around reading a newspaper while he died in the lava.
Quote:BTW to those still struggling with Trapdoor, the trick I used to solo is to pull him, then run or jump to the bottom with your toes at the edge of the lava. Ideally, set it up so the catwalk blocks his ability to shoot you from the platform. He will jump down and try to shoot you from the lava. If you can, Immobilize him there. If not, a knockback (especially a ranged one) can keep him from trying to melee you. The lava will deplete his HP very quickly.
For the fight with the other AVs, I think you can make some of the ambushes appear ahead of time if you go to the end room BEFORE grabbing the glowie. Kill them, go back to the glowie, then go back to the room. If you have ranged attacks, you should be able to pull the first group of portals without aggroing the AVs. Then try to pull each AV back one at a time. Most builds can do it eventually with luck. A few low damage Controllers may be stuck though (I seriously wonder whether my Ice Controllers could pull it off from example because they don't put out a lot of DPS and their pet dies easily). -
Quote:I have an easy way to get lower levels played more and its summed up in two words. "Better Loot"I decided to make a thread to see what people would do to make lower lvl CoH content better. As we all know the lower lvl stuff is very old and generic. What I would do is add in more Boss type villains that aren't just standard issue. Like include more Rogue Gallerys. Also I like the cut scenes, they are generally more plentiful in CoV mission content. So what would you guys suggest?

Quote:Sure, I would run perma dimension shift/repel man or My own KB Monster. Energy/Energy blaster, FF/Energy Defender or Peacebringer.I saw, once, a cartoon that had a picture of a harried mom in a kitchen covered with messy stuff, spatters on walls, and so on, and a small child. Caption: "I'm HELPING!"
I have toyed with the idea of building a superhero (or possibly a villain) who is "helping". Say, keeping Gale on auto. Slotting energy blast for knockback.
The question is... Would anyone ever willingly play with a character whose character concept was that the was "helping" in a woefully inefficient way? Would the humor value make up for the inconvenience?
And if so, what is the most inconvenient build you can think of? Emphasis on something that a sufficiently exuberant child might think was "helping".
Considering the differing viewpoints on Knockback this post is asking for a flamesuit.
I would probably avoid such a team personally. I don't find it amusing at all unless the Captain KB player is playing the scrapper and the other 7 team members are "helping" -
Better to release it a couple of weeks late with as many bugfixes as possible.

Other than name place holders and costume test characters, all of my characters will get a respec.
Actually, my level 50 PB won't until they buff PBs.
She's been gathering dust for 4 years and can keep gathering it. -

Pretty sad that the pro-KB people have to lash out with personal attacks because there are players who don't like KB.
The game supports many playstyles. Now go out there and have fun.
Quote:How about no? Moreover, how about you get off my case for playing the way I want to play and asking for more options, hm? Does it burn you so much that I don't want knockback in my melee attacks and that I feel it CRIPPLES the attacks and makes them completely useless for more than once every hour or so?
What, did I kick your puppy or something? How does me asking for an enhancement to reduce knockback to knockdown piss you off so much that you'd insult my intelligence over it?
*edit*
And how does my saying that I have dumber things to slot for, meaning they're dumber to ME do anything to you? My builds, my powers, my choices, my judgement. -
Well, solo my stalker is probably the fastest at completing missions where you just have to kill a boss and get out.
Teamwise, the team should get some other benefit from the stalker other than just DPS.
Heh, if missions were made "unstealthable" except for stalker Hide, then all of a sudden they would be Mr Popular. -
It was a great event! I'm glad I finally got to come to one of them. It was worth driving the 720 miles (round trip). Heck, there were people who drove in from further away and some who flew in.
Got to meet many players and many of the devs while I was there. Pity we didn't have more time since I would have loved to have gotten a game of Dominion in.
Noticed there was also Kingsburg and Aquire in the stack of games too. We'll have to make a nice boardgaming session when the next Herocon happens. (Yes, I want a Herocon!) -
If DN picks mine I'll scan it and post it on Monday.

Quote:Oh wonderful, maybe I have to drive to SF instead of BART.Just a heads up to those traveling in from out of the area.
A chance of rain is forecasted for Saturday evening and Sunday. It tends to be windy in the city so pack appropriate attire. Dress in layers. If you are flying in, expect delays in arrival/departure times at SFO, OAK, and SJO if it is raining. -
Quote:Fire/sonic corruptor or sonic/sonic defenderI recently came back to the game after about a year away, and have restarted playing along with my wife.
She's played Blasters and Corruptors previously, but until now not played any melee sets. She started a Fire/Shield scrapper today. At the time I started a Ice/Thermal Radiation Controller to go with her scrapper, although we stopped for the night at level 4.
My question is what might be a better match. I'm wondering if a more dedicated support, like a Kinetics/ or Empath/ Defender, meshed with something with half decent AOEs like /Archery or /Electric might work out better.
Thanks for any advice. -
Quote:So the first suggestion would be a setting to turn off temp power drops and another setting to turn off normal recipes.Yes, i did. The market people act like stuff doesn't exist or happen. There's normally a good handful of people in WW in Atlas and Talos. Also, in Cap. And that's just when i'm actually on or near those locales.
The real reason there's nothing in WW at any level other than 50 is the same reason that purples and salvage have continued to go up. Supply and demand is true, but the cause is AE. Nothing drops there. Purples ONLY drop in regular missions. Salvage ONLY drops in regualr missions. When people are in AE farming/pling, then no recipes and salvage are dropping. (other than level 50 or the max level that the 50s are getting) I know, because i do it alot, too. I get WAY more recipes that way than farming missions because the drop rate sucks, imo. I get more and more temp powers every time i run a farm and less normal recipes. I can kill 1000's of baddies and get a handful of normal recipes, not including purples. Do the same in AE, and get 1000's of recipes. But not purples and salvage. Therefore making the few purples that people actually get cost way too much.
Then add all the people that play with the market and not just use it. All the buying up all the salvage just to see if they can warp WW and the prices. And i'm sure it's being done with recipes, too. If people just bought what they wanted and sold what they didn't, it'd make WW much more enjoyable for most of the people.
Maybe there should be a SF where if the villains win AE is turned off for 24 hours. -
Quote:Actually, that starts adding up to a decent number when you consider how many zones have WW/BM and when you add in the fact there are several servers.Did you think about what you were going to write before you posted that? Really?
Ignoring the gaping logical flaw in what you said there, let's talk about how many people are actually in the markets.
At the most, and in the most populated "transit" zones, I rarely see more than a handful of characters in the markets, even at prime time. How many people are you seeing?
If I was going to do martket stuff, now that items can be xfered easily across servers and sides, I would stick my "market pvp alt" on an unpopulated server and hide at a WW/BM that no one goes to. -
Myself, I went Defender since I wanted the debuffing powers first.

Quote:I could easily pull up 4 different 50s and get full Merit rewards. Heck, I could run 12 ITFs in a row for full merit rewards. You can't do that for full benefits- at least not four on the same character.
There are a few TFs in the game that even a 2nd run is still worth it. That would be derailing the thread. However, when I said 4 it was assumed it was 4 different characters since if I ran 4 with the same one it would not total 100. (104 if you care to nitpick) -
100 Merits a night, that's a good goal. Good to see there is a nice variety of things to earn that with.
I can see people doing 4 ITFs in a row and calling it a night but I would quickly get burned out of the game if I did that.
I think if I average 50 a night I'm happy.
