  1. Can you give us more info about your system. We're not psychics! I don't have the spelunker badge!

But since the launch of i19, my game has been crashing like CRAZY!

For example, I go to the tailor, try to pick which costume I wanna alter, game freezes, does not want to respond, crash. I was flying around Faultline, everything seemed fine. I stopped flying to check some tip missions, game froze, didn't wanna respond, crashed. This has never happened to me before. I'd hate to blame my issues on i19 but it's been happening ever since.

Anyone else have any other ideas why this would happen?
  2. Any info you can provide us about your setup, rig, drivers would be helpful.

I am not psychic so its hard to help you nail down your problem. However, it could very well be a heating issue. I'm starting to think CoX isn't graphics hungry enough to make GPU fans kick in thus, cards overheat because they sit at a high enough temp to cause errors but not hot enough to make fans kick in.

Since your having issues with contact list, I suspect your having issues with graphics drivers.

Not a heating issue. Happens within three minutes of booting up cold in the morning. Or I can play for hours, not opening new contacts or new dialogue boxes, and not have any problems. Usually only happens the first time I talk to someone. When I reload and talk to the person a second time, it usually does not lock up a second time. Also found, if I am with a group and let them talk to the contact or go through the door first, it happens much less often.

Given that it started the day I19 went live, I've just been waiting to see it get fixed in a patch.

    Edit
Additionally, locks up every time without fail if I try to place an item in a base.
    /Edit
  3. I'm glad I cleared this mission out on all my 50s before the patch hit.
  4. 10.10 and 10.11 have been really hard on us ATI folks. 10.9 has been working for most of us. I'm trying out 10.12 and so far no issues.

One other thing people have been finding is that CoH isn't "graphic intensive" enough to trigger GPU fans kicking in. So the cards are running hot and apparently that's been a source of some of the "issues" see Evil Geko. Manual GPU or GPU fan tweaking software would be helpful.

I'm using GPU fan tweaking software now.
  5. Well ATI released 10.12 drivers and things have been good for 2 days.

I know many of us ATI users had some issues with 10.10 and 10.11 drivers.
  6. Runs fine on Windows 7 x64 and Vista x64
  7. Actually, at least from some of the users here CoH isn't quite graphics intensive enough. Some of the grpahical issue *may* be caused by overheating cards because the GPU fans are not kicking in. I guess we need more intense graphics to kick the GPU fans in.

In my case, I now use manual GPU fan controls to make sure my card stays cool. (of course, things are noiser, but better noisy than BSD)
  8. Oh, I think I know what the problem is.......

Support for older legacy video cards stopped with Catalyst 9.3

Try downloading and installing that version of CCC (9.3).
  9. newchemicals

    Game Freeze

It runs fine with my GTX 260 with 260.99

What drivers are you running? Other people have rolled back to 197.45

Another thing that has been talked about is video cards overheating with CoX. Apparently, the grahics are not intense enough to make the graphics card to kick in full fans but enough to make the card unstable. Try manually setting the gpu fan at 100%
  10. I think sometime during the summer they should give us a two week long winter event and claim the Winter Lord is taking away summer.

    Game crashing

Yes, there are 32 bit nvidia drivers.

    Game crashing

    Yeah. Tell me about it.

    I have 2 systems and access to a 3rd.

I have an ATI 5770 in 1 system, Nvidia GTX 260 in the other and an ATI 5750 in a system I can play CoH on if I have to.

I do have a laptop with intel graphics (the most sold "graphics card" in it) but no way in heck would I play the game on it. However, its good enough to play the market in the trading house free of powers spam.

    Game crashing

Does it crash in safe mode?

Are you running on 197.45 drivers? Those seem to be the more stable drivers.

I can run games that are significantly more intensive than COH with no problem. In addition, I can get crashes on minimum settings (which I wouldn't use long term they look terrible). This is so frustrating.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions folks.
Well, one thing you could try is go into the Catalyst control center and enable manual fan control under the overdrive section. Set the fan to 100% (noisy) and see if the game crashes.

Maybe CoH isn't intensive enough to trigger higher fan speeds. idk, your issues have just been

Short of a full outright graphics driver sweep to remove any traces of 10.10 or 10.11 I don't get it.
  15. If your having air flow issues, consider bundling up your cables. However, without pictures it would be hard to determine what exactly is the cause.
  16. Overlord.

Does safe mode crash your system? If so, your video card could be going bad.

    Another thing you can try.

Your Motherboard does have onboard video. I might suggest removing your video card and loading up the game with the onboard video.

Its not a great video graphics, but it should be enough to tell you if your issue is hardware related. If the onboard video doesn't crash, its likely your video card is going bad. I've seen many 8 and 9 series GeForce Cards die in the last year. At which point, its time to check to see if your warranty is still good.
  17. Be wary of windows trying to sneak in updated 10.10 drivers on you.
  18. I've seen it where a case couldn't handle the heat but that is pretty rare. Most people who build their own systems don't buy $20 cases with "free" PSUs then stuff in $400+ full sized video cards.
  19. Sounds like your video card died. It could be a couple of other things but I've seen too many nvidia 8 and 9 series video cards fail in the last year I just shake my head.

I'm on my lap top right now but it's not built for gaming. I use it as a work computer. To play the game I've been going to use my Dad's computer when he goes to work so my gaming times for like the last 2 months has been Mon-Fri after 2 pm PST.

Anyway, my dad's computer is better than mine anyway and he said he's getting a new computer soon and giving me his old one. Hopefully that will be happening this weekend.

Anyway, how did you even get your computer restored after the BSOD? Mine won't even start up anymore after having it. It gets to a certain point and then reboots or goes back to the blue screen before it's even all the way on. We've tried everything we can think of to fix it and looked online for ways to fix it and nothing works. Replaced the hard drive, replaced the memory sticks, reinstalled windows, still get the same results.
  20. Well I see one difference, I see you run in windowed mode while D_R and I have the game in full screen mode.
  21. D_R, Fitzsimmons and I had the same issues with 10.10 and 10.11 drivers.

Try uninstalling and going with 10.9

Pretty nice rig you got there EG.

I assume you got a 5870 video card right?

    Edit: 10.6 is stable also.
  22. Any other games or programs causing blue screens?

If your getting BSODs after a clean install, it makes me "suspect" that the graphics card might be the problem.

I had this with an 8800GT and 2 days later it was dead.

So I did, from 197.13 to 260.99. Two days later my screen freezes at WW and I'm forced to do a hard restart. A day later it happens again and my computer goes to the BSOD. This happens repeatedly and I eventually have to restore back to 2 days prior. I attempted to get rid of the drivers but for some reason it wouldn't let me, and with Drive Sweeper it wouldn't even boot to Safe Mode (thus the restore).

I eventually did a clean install of Windows 7 and wiped everything. I went back to my previous drivers which had been working perfectly fine until I updated with i19. But I still keep crashing and getting a variety of blue screen messages. IRQL, Memory, Page_Fault or just a black screen sometimes. It's only when I try to play COH though, although I have not yet tested another game. I ran Memtest to see if it was my ram, but after 20 minutes at 100% it came back with no errors.

I've read a few threads here about others having issues, but do you think this is a game issue or my hardware? The blue screens worry me, but I was having 0 problems before i19. Just a coincidence?

    I have an Alienware Area-51 7500
    750w PSU
    9800GT
    Intel Core 2 Duo e8400
    nForce 680i SLI MB

    Thanks.
  23. If you are having issues with the Oroboros contact screens and you have an ATI graphics card, check your drivers. I found 10.10 and 10.11 would crash the game out. If you have 10.10 or 10.11 drivers, try rolling back to 10.9
  24. newchemicals

    Nvidia GTX 260

That's the error I was getting with my 8800GT about 2 days before it died.
  25. I posted in D_Rs post.

Basically, for ATI users, many of us were getting this with 10.10 or 10.11 drivers. I have tested 10.6 and 10.9 and the issues go away. I have not bothered with 10.8 but I don't recall probems when I had it.

Mega, I have a 5770 as well, most likely you have 10.10 or 10.11 drivers.
