  1. That was an interesting read.

Mamameg: Anything more you can tell us about your laptop? Make and model can help out. I'm sure there is probably another coh player that has the same model of laptop as you have. It might be helpful for coming up with a diagnosis.

I've had a similiar error but not in COX, just World of Tanks, and at times browsing with Firefox.

I was able to set "max performance" in nvidia control panel, and downclock my memory which helped with World of Tanks, and disabling hardware acceleration in firefox and flash, to fix my brower issue.

Do the crashes occur in safemode? Also use a program to check your card temps while gaming, and see if it's running hot. Cards have had issues with solder joints being weak, and as they get warm connections are lost. HWMonitor and GPUZ are a couple I use for checking temps.

Some 100 pages of discussion on the issue here,

  2. I'll have to file this one if there are future changes to the iTrial rewards system on the subject as to why not enough UGs are run.

The video card is going back to NewEgg tomorrow. ( <3 their return policy)

This is probably not helpful, but it's a data point.
Not very helpful information. If it included CoH helper then it would be.

  5. Digital Storm should be ok. I just took a look over there at one of the "cheaper" desktops. Pricey, (well, they do have to make money) but not too bad.
  6. I'm still in the process of verifying that 11.10 are stable. I could try 11.11a next. Knowing of course that using some of the "updated" drivers such as 11.11a and 11.11b require more searching by the user and many people will just assume 11.11 = 11.11a or 11.11b
  7. Then its not really a downgrade if it makes the game stable.
  8. Are you running 11.11 and its stable?
  9. Well it will be interesting to test the 4650 then. The processor can certainly make a difference, what CPU you using Hericane?

I'm afraid there's no shortcut to stability here, you'll have to figure it out and try drivers on your own.
Game is perfectly stable for me with the good drivers.

I'm just helping out fellow players, if you are having issues with the game you're welcome of course to make your own thread and post your coh helper file and we can see what your issue(s) might be.
  11. I vote fire/fire/fire

Burn + Hotfeet + Blazing Aura + FSC + Combustion + Fireball + Breath of Fire + Rain of Fire = Lots of firey death!

I don't care about squishy, just make sure there is a sonic or FF defender on the team and you're basically a tank.
  12. Most likely if this were to happen, we probably won't have much in the way of customizing their appearance.

I hope they do this, but I expect if it does happen it will be "Soon"(tm)
  13. When you are offered an escort mission, "Just say NO!"

Radio/paper will never generate an escort mission to a good player...all you have to do is abandon the mission and pick a new one.

Most common reason(s) why NPC fail to follow is:

    1. People move away from them too fast.
    2. Running powers that have stealth
    3. Having a stealth IO slotted.

No matter what though, if you are offered an escort mission, "Just say NO!"

While I don't think it's an end-all-be-all solution for Blasters, it does at least address the issue where Brutes and Scrappers at their caps deal more damage over time with the same attacks than Blasters do. For that reason I think it would be a good place to start.
They could certainly do that and I would most certainly love it if they did...They could also raise the values that defiance buffs damage. So, there is some wiggle room for blaster "improvement" short of doing an across the board reduction of everyone else by 10%. Of course, buffs are always popular while reductions are never well liked.

    Um /this

All we need is KB to KD.
  16. Hmm, how are you connecting the TV up to your computer? HDMI or 15 pin d-sub, S-Video?

If I recall correctly, Panasonics have issues with PCs via HDMI.

Also, other than the monitor/TV there really isn't any other information to really go by.

I don't think MMs need a design pass. They suffer more from gameplay issues (AI issues mostly) and "gimmicks" on TFs/Trials. Certain MMs are very good, others not so much.

Blaster OTOH are STILL in need for some tweaking. Crashing nukes for one thing.
  18. I was going to talk to Arbiter Hawk about Peacebringers also, but there was no need to re-hash the previous conversation he was having about Peacebringers. At that point trying to see if he would come on the Kheldian forums to talk about it would be a better priority for the community.

Heck, I just saw a post from Arcanaville saying the same thing. PBs need help big time.
  19. I certainly mentioned that Jibikao and test rat would be happy to hear something is being done. Don't worry folks you had people fighting for stalkers!
  20. That's pretty close to my feelings.

    1. PBs
    2. Stalkers

I have masterminds and dominators as 3 and 4 but Blasters are 5. If fact, when the stalker changes go through, blasters will probably end up on my bottom 4 list. Blasters simply get weaker as the player levels since their biggest debuff (dead mobs) keep getting tougher and doing more mez.

In fact, Dominators and Scrappers have a higher melee damage modifier than Blasters do, which is nonsensical.

If I had to rank which archetypes deserved the most attention overall, the list would be:

    Peacebringers
    Blasters
    Stalkers
    Everybody else.

The only reason I put PBs ahead of Blasters is just because the disparity between PBs and WSs is ludicrous, and because I don't think Kheldians get enough special benefits for being quantum-bait.

You drop a sphere. Everything in a large radius around that sphere receives knockback toward the sphere. Everything that actually touches the sphere is momentarily phased, turned utterly invisible, and takes a large amount of crushing damage. Bonus points for a 'stretched/sucked into the sphere' graphic.
I'd love it if they made it an anti-radial KB power!
  22. I added 11.4 to the list of good drivers. Hopefully, I'll get a chance to test out a 4650 card (but I don't expect ultra mode)

Anyone running UM with a 6670 or 6570 with at least 1280x1024 or higher?

    Best Driver

    Hi Freakzilla:

Please read Hyperstrike's post about asking for help.

    http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=231628

I have not done any testing of CoH with HD4xxx series ATI video cards. I did however get a 4650 as a warranty replacement for an 8600GT which had 3 exploded capacitors on it. So, I'll have at least a 4650 to test CoH on now. (I just need a copy of 64 bit windows 7/Vista to run on my test setup)

On that note: I don't expect the 4600 series cards to handle ultra mode. I had a 5670 for awhile but ended up selling to a friend cheap since his video card died and he needed a cheap video card NOW. Anyways, 5670 handled normal mode very well but could only run UM with the most minimal of settings and even then I saw some lag.

11.9 should work but 11.3 might be worth trying.
  24. One thing about the con is that you will probably have talked with just about everyone there devs, players etc. I guess that is why these meet and greets are so fun.

So, after the con when I read the forums I can put a real face to the various forum posters and devs.

Liquid: That was me in the hotel lobby about stalkers. Fatare's costume was awesome!

After seeing the photos, I know who pepsiman was.

TonyV: Thanks for the paragonwiki site. I'd be totally lost in the game without it.

Devs: Thanks for hosting us players it was simply a pleasure to be there.

TJ, Turg, Ninus and all the other players who I talked with, thanks for being there and hope to see all of you next year!
  25. I am certainly one of the 6800 people who had issues with 11.4 but other people said it worked ok for them, but others with 5xxx card had issues. If I can get more data points it might help.

I'll be testing 11.10 this week and see what happens.

Edit: Well 90 minutes of gameplay so far and no crashes.

Edit2: Well 3 days on 11.10 no issues. I already added it to the good list, so will keep using these in the meantime.

It never caused crashes for me, but I did get occasional corruption of certain textures (for instance, sometimes the letter "w" wouldn't show up in peoples' chat bubbles), and sometimes buildings in the BAF trial weren't rendered. These problems were few and far between though, and mostly encountered on the BAF trial (and only about 1 in 10 times there).

The game was otherwise very playable and performance was comparable to the other good drivers in your listing.

On the other hand, I DO recall reading that users with 6800 series cards had issues with the 11.4 drivers.

(11.9 seems to be the way to go at this point, regardless.)
