Damage set bonuses don't effect pets, which makes that utterly useless, Masterminds have the lowest base HP in the game, so a maxhp bonus is trivial, and resistance bonuses are only remotely valuable when you already have a lot of resistance to add them to, which, obviously, a Mastermind does not - not that their resistance hard caps are high enough for it to matter anyway.

Could we get some of these changed to something relevant, like Defense, which at least gives a feasible boost to survivability when stacked, or recovery, for the end. heavy secondaries?
Of course it sucks! The devs hate masterminds! Our feedback fell on deaf ears.
  2. Basically, its up to the OP to give us more info. At this point I am not going to pull out my Karnak hat.

    Can't help without enough data.
  3. I'll pull up a max height character and see what I get.

Edit: pulled up a character who was max height. I can confirm that bubbles have a max height of just under 7 ft.

    Botched ritual.

I got the ritual right on the first try.

Reminds me of the Honoree mission with Ramiel. Solution, autocomplete it. In this case, figure out the correct order, write it down, then never have a botch again.
  5. If you are only going for 1 video card this MB should be more than enough.

I am not a beliver in "future-proof" btw, if you are not going with multiple video card now, its much cheaper to just get a board that supports 1 video card.

Its best to buy the same video card at the same time if you plan to crossfire/SLI. Its also a big price gouge to buy a board that supports it if you are not going to take advantage, plus if you wait a year there will be a single card solution which is just as fast and has less hassles than a Crossfire/SLI setup.

Cheaper on the PSU too. No need to overspend on something that's pure overkill. For single card anything much above 600W is purely a waste of money.
  6. Well for starters the 12.1 drivers have been rock solid for me.

Please note to many tech folk saying "600W Power Supply" means about as much as telling us your car runs on gas. Who made the power supply and model number.

If you are getting the same error after changing the video card the problem isn't with the video card. There are lots of things that can be tried. Have you tried a new clean install of City of Heroes? Have you tried a clean install of Windows?

What sorts of temps are you getting on your CPU? The 6000+ was notorious for being a really hot chip.
  7. Exit the game and restart, a little search fu and this issue would have popped up.

Nah, someone has to overpay to keep Dell in business.

So, because people seem to love accusing me of not listening, this is me throwing in the towel and asking to listen.

I actually do have a few specific questions in mind, and none of them are character- or AT-specific. Just general ones.

    1. What must one do to acquire the resources needed to make Inventions - recipes and salvage? Can this be done by just playing Story Arcs and regular missions like I always have, or do I need to run Architect missions or farm Alignment missions or such?

    2. Is it possible to build specifically at level 50, using only level 50 Inventions, or do I have to have a menagerie of different numbers on my Enhancements screen?

    3. What defines "cheap" vs. "expensive" sets? Market price? Ticket cost? Merit cost? Is there any way to tell which is which before I commit to it?

    4. Does everyone have to build for Defence? Seemingly, whether your sets provide defence or not, and even whether you're melee or not, everyone suggests building for defence. What else should I build for as a general thing? Recharge? Endurance? What?

    5. Is it possible to develop a basic template that's at least generally applicable to a whole AT with whatever amount of tweaking, or does every character essentially require starting a build design from scratch?

    6. How much work is it to put together a decent, "cheap" build at the level cap as opposed to, say, buying a full set of Common Inventions, assuming I have the build worked out beforehand?

I'm not trolling, I'm not joking, I'm not even just talking empty. I simply don't have the strength to fight people tooth and nail about not using Inventions any more when newer content clearly assumes I am. I'm starting to feel like I have to either "get with the programme" or quit the game entirely. And I don't want to quit the game quite yet, if at all possible. So this is me giving up and just trying to wrap my head around the thing.
I mostly do 2 things to aquire what I want.

    1. Farm Signature story arcs for alignment merits (sadly, this makes my rogues and vigils reliant on other characters)

    2. Farm AE for tickets

    What IOs do I get?

    1. Slot as many Luck of the Gamblers +7.5% recharges I can on the character, slot a miracle +recovery, Numina +recovery + regeneration, steadfast -KB (or Karma) (for those who need it) and steadfast +3% defense. If like stealth, pick up a cererity +stealth.

    2. Then I pull up mids and make a build. Going for defense capping and/or recharge is good. Sometimes I go for def or recharge.
  10. It might have been a good idea in 2004, its waaay too late now and coding an origins "respec" is a waste of dev time and resources. Also, people will *hate* this if it has any negative impact after the character was already made based on the current rules of the game at time of creation.

    openGL crash

Hard to make an accurate diagnosis over the net, but this looks like the early symptoms of the 8xxx, 9xxx and 250 nvidia cards failing.

Your card is likely over 5 years old after lots of regular use these cards just fail over time. *Speculation ony* its roughly the same era as the Q6600 CPU you have in your rig suggesting they were bought around the same time.

I'd suggest tracking down a friend who can spare you a known good video card for testing.

    Experience Bug?

    Need more data.

Its possible someone had attacked those freaks and they healed up. Thus denying you of actual xp. Much like the xp denial bug from Paragon Protectors who MoG.

Please tell us as much as you can so we don't have to put on our Karnak hat and guess what you have.
  14. I have been running trials and lots of missions with 12.1 and with no issues. I'll probably bump it to the good list.
  15. As a Tier 9 if I went premuim all I would lose are incarnate trials*

*sure, FW, some character slots, base rent, etc....

If there is no reason to run trials, there is no reason to pay money.

Thinking about the topic more, it just seems like WW is trying to shame someone trying to make a winning trial. To which I will say, its both a symptom of trial design (debateable as to how much level shifts are needed) and how hard it is to lead a trial (aka catherding)

Just wait until the DD trial shows up with 54+3s.....I'm hoping the devs make that a 54 trial and not do the 54+3 stuff.

I agree with pretty much everyone around here that high player competence is more valuable, in general, than full IO sets or particular power sets. But the level shift thing I sorta get, after all, the purple patch imposes significant penalties for level differences, and when you simply don't have the survivability and dps to take out MM in under three minutes in the final fight, well, there's not much point in even starting the trial. The scant astrals and threads you'll earn aren't worth it, IMO.
UGh, TPN and MoM have high enough failure rates I just don't bother with them anyways. Level shifts and incarnate powers are very helpful for the team success rates but it also creates this eliteism which I don't like. Of course by saying you would 1 star people like this will just push more people to refuse to run such trials and force Positron's hand to consider Nerfing iTrials rewards again because people don't run the "hard" trials anymore.
  17. The devs don't like changing the order of powers. While they have done so, I would not hold my breath for this change.
  18. Its more of a symptom of current iTrial design.

I don't think I would 1 star people for trying to increase their odds of beating trials. There are not enough people leading the "harder" trials anyways and when people read posts like this, it will just create the "silent" screen.

Also, WW you don't know the makeup of the team, there might have been enough 50s on the team that the trial leader did not feel comfortable inviting more.

*goes back to running BAF, LAM and Keyes*

In the case of UGh, TPN and MoM (and soon to be DD) I'll just wait til they are fixed to be more inclusive.
  19. Well Grats!

    Comp help/advice

The Docs say the machine has a PCI-E slot.

Even with a better video card it still won't change the fact that the Pentium 4 was a hot power hungry slug of a CPU.

I mean I understand that it's convenient and inexpensive for Paragon Studios to hold this in their backyard, and when it was just a glorified meet and greet, I didn't have an issue with that. But now it's a "Players Summit" where players are giving real input on the future of the game, and it's being limited to those who can drive to, or afford to fly to it. That's not right.

If you held one in the fall in CA and one in the spring on the east coast, the midwest, the south, or even in Europe, fine because then you'd be including more than just the same people all the time, but now it sounds like you won't even be coming to the east coast this spring. Which means that if you come to NYCC this fall, CA will have had three player summits to our one meet and greet in a year and a half.
Its about a 4 1/2 hour drive for me. This time we have more notice to be able to plan ahead.
  22. I saw what the gfx processor is which is about the same as the old GTS 450. So modest UM settings. Could it run max? sure! Playable at max, well no not really. Of course some people don't care how much things lag if it looks pretty.

Same goes with the GPU side of the chips. The A6 has 320 shaders, the A8 has 400, the E-450 has only 80.

Overall in gaming we are looking at around 3 times the gaming performance with an A8-3500m over an E-450.

So do you want a Netbook for it's small size and battery life or are you simply looking for an inexpensive laptop?

Comparison of the E-350 and the A8-3500m. The E-450 is a refresh of the E-350 allowing faster memory and runs at slightly higher clock speed.
The OP should probably re-think what compromises need to be made, I don't think the HP dmz1 is a good choice even if it can "run" CoH.
  24. Well it all comes down to what are you willing to comprose on.

No question the AMD A series is a decent "for a laptop" performance. You can get a A6 series laptop with 15.6" screen at a weekly sale at Office depot or Best Buy for the low $400 range.

*I* would not buy that HP dmz1 with any E processor since the price of the unit overlaps with laptops which really outperform it for the same cost.

The lowest netbooks are going to sell for is $200 and to me the magical price for them is $150 but no way will they sell them that cheap. At this point tablets are the "profit" market so netbooks are being pushed to the side.

The OP wants something netbook sized that could possibly "play" CoH. *I* don't see much in the way of good value for the money based on what the OP wants, but its not my money to spend and its up to the OP to decide what compromises need to be made.
  25. Its $429 with the E-450 Brazos APU on the HP website. Not bad, probably good enough to solo with low end graphics settings.

It won't do ultra mode its a bit on the heavy side for a netbook, but its the size you want.
