Yep, just got this badge tonight on a raid on Virtue.

Also got close to 400 Vanguard merits and almost a full level of Exp on that raid, so win-win!

Positron: I did sit down and several times went over the numbers on the published MA badges and lowered and lowered and lowered them until I thought we were at a level that was so low that everyone could get these through normal play and rather quickly too.

    I admit, I was wrong.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, you weren't wrong. As many people have pointed out, many, if not most, of the badges you're removing were earned by casual players, playing a handful of non-farm missions. Your decision is made on this, and I'm OK with that, but as others have said, please, Please, PLEASE don't take a reactionary stance on all future badges and "dumb them down" to the point of a player getting a badge if they click on a mission door.
  3. Perhaps, but then the Shopkeeper icon should not appear under your Exp bar when you enter. That's what has me confused.
  4. Pretty cool video; I had never seen that before today. Interesting that they'd thought about doing Shapeshifting as a power at one time.

Also I saw some unfamiliar villainous factions listed:

    Seraphim
    Twilight Men
    Fear Factor
    Revalation
    The Killing Crew

    Pretty neat!
  5. I've had a character logged off in Yin's Market in Faultline for almost a week, and I'm not showing any progress towards the Shopkeeper day job badge, despite the icon appearing when I enter the store.

Anyone else experience this? Is there anything I can do about it?
  6. Task Force "White Sands" finished Positron's Torture Force in 4:47. We bled members most of the way until we were down to three by the last 5-6 missions - two scrappers and a blaster. It was painful, but we soldiered through. Our Tanker reappeared during the final mission and was a big help in keeping the length of the TF reasonable.

I can't believe this thing is only worth 64 merits.
  7. Prior to MA we were hunter-gatherers, now we are an agrarian society.

The next logical step is interplanetary space, therefore a Moon Base cannot be far off!
  8. Just wanted to give a quick thanks to all who participated. Strike Force Wild ran into some trouble with the Behemoth ambushes at the end, and that pushed our total time to just over two hours, but all-in-all it was a fun SF. Thanks!
  9. Don't believe them! As soon as I logged on this morning I got five computer viruses!

Also two clockwork winders, a luck charm and three inanimate carbon rods.
  10. Nope, I don't mind who joins, I'm just thankful for the chance to snag the badge.

Since we're up to 6 now, I'll keep the start time at 8 PM ET.

Like I said, I personally don't know how long it takes to run, but based on the number of Merits (25), I'm guessing the average time is around 2 hours give or take?

was always curious if the number '333' signified anything in that zone...

    [/ QUOTE ]

The mobs in that zone are only 1/2 evil.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Isn't there a "Rule of 3" associated with Wicca? Like if you do something evil, it'll come back on you three-fold?
  12. OMG, talk about grindy! Requiring people to turn off exp and do a TF ten times that few people want to do once? No thank you.

Although I am sure this is trackable (team size badge), it might still be a little tough to get in normal play and griefable to boot. At what point does one get the tic for having an 8 man team? I would figure at mission complete, but what happen when one or more people have to leave team? Not too big a deal normally, but attach a badge to it, and watch the hard feelings begin.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Lots of badges track how many seconds you're doing something - the lackey badges, the day job badges, the pvp zone badges; I would set the teaming badge up the same way, that way it's not as griefable.

    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]

How about this - something similar to the mentoring badges, but tied to teaming. For example, a "Team Player" badge or badge series for spending X (and Y and Z) number of hours on a full team of 8?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Very afk farmable.

    [/ QUOTE ]
So what? Farmable is one thing, grind-inducing is something else. If they create a badge for spending 25 hours on an 8 man team and 8 morons want to get together and sit inside a level 2 mission for 25 hours to get it instead of just playing the freaking game, what are you going to do?

If you want to eliminate badge farming, you need to eliminate ALL kill badges, and don't even institute badges that award with one kill. I'm pretty sure I could go 1-50 in normal play without ever finding myself on a mission where I had to defeat a Shivan or a Cap au Diable electricity gremlin, so even if they lowered the Wo/Man in Black and Electrician badges to award with one defeat, I'd technically have to "farm" for them.

My only idea would be giving badges based on achieving confidant status with contacts (either so many gamewide, so many in a zone, or some such). The only problem with this is that it's completely and easily possible to outlevel contacts, which would destroy the chances of getting this, which makes it definitely no good. Maybe limit it to maximum level contacts? Just a thought, anyway.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's not the only problem with it. The other potential problem is that it would even further reduce the ability to get a team. That is, I'm assuming, like merits, only the mission holder would get credit towards the badge, so this could encourage everyone to run solo to get their contact badges. I think there's a little too much doooom! built into that one.

How about this - something similar to the mentoring badges, but tied to teaming. For example, a "Team Player" badge or badge series for spending X (and Y and Z) number of hours on a full team of 8?
  15. Whoa, don't everyone sign up at once! lol

Would it help if I pushed the start time back to 8:30 PM ET or 9:00 PM ET?

Would you still be up for it if I did that Fernandes?
  16. Anyone interested in helping me complete the Ice Mistral Strike Force tomorrow night, starting at, or around 8 PM eastern time (7 central, 5 pacific) so I can finally get the Megalomanic accolade for my Mind/Fire dom?

Strike force is level 35-40. If you're above level 40, or reach level 41 during it, you won't get EXP. The Strike Force starts in St. Martial in the Golden Giza casino. I've never run it so I don't know how hard it is, or how long it lasts, but it awards 25 merits and is only six missions, so it can't be too bad.

Four people minimum are required to start it, but more are welcome to sign up, just post the information listed below. Thanks!

    1. Waitress - Mind/Fire Dom, level 44, @mousedroid
    2. Anastacia Lic - Mind/Electric dominator, level 40+
    3. Cleave Edge, Axe/Inv Brute level 37 (maybe 38)
    4. Freakaboo, EM/SR Stalker, level 41 (@Pulcinella)
    5. Kitten's Rage, Bots/FF MM, lvl 50 (@Tarby)
    6. Laser Storm bots/storm MM, level 42 (@Night's Dawn)

  17. Count me in, please. Definitely for Positron, possibly for Synapse, depending on how long Positron takes and how frustrated I am by the end of it.

I would be bringing a level 48 BS/WP scrapper named Erin Brand - global handle: @mousedroid

Also, it might be good to note a few things in advance:

    1) If you are above level 15, you will be exemplared to level 15 and you WILL NOT GET EXP during this TF.

    2) This task force "is considered by many to be one of the longest and most arduous Task Forces in the game." It can take between 3-4 hours to complete. Please don't join if you have somewhere to be at Noon central time on Saturday, because we likely won't be done and quiting in the middle of a TF is bad form.

    3) It might not hurt to familiarize yourself with this TF before signing up, or at least before we start, so you know what you're in for. I tend to keep the Paragonwiki page open for any TF/SF I'm on and tab back and forth between it and the game between missions so I know how far we are and what's coming next.

These three items may be elementary to some folks, but I a lot of others don't know about them and would possibly get upset and quit because they weren't told.

Also, you get 64 merits for successfully completing it.

    I am the leader

If you're going to delete the SG, it might be nice to let your friends take what they can from any salvage, inspiration, and storage racks you have. Sort of a parting gift to say, "Thanks for helping me build this base."

    Magic Origin

    [ QUOTE ]
I think some people are just more narrow minded and/or just simply are not very creative. Let em be. Im not one of em.

Ive never really been one for magic.... all the BS rules and incantations and ...."Oh, you have to read this passage exactly like this from this old dusty tome that falling apart that I bought from this kid that found it in a dungeon... and then fire will come out your eyes!"

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oh, irony, thy name is BunnySunshine.

    i15 this week?

    [ QUOTE ]
My guess is it is being delayed partially due to the fact that the devs are mad at us for misusing MA and we need to be taught a lesson.

I'm still an advocate of a simple feature: You shouldn't be able to rate an arc unless you've finished playing it. I think that would cut right down on that sorta griefing.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And then how do I rate an arc one star when it springs sixteen AVs on me at the door of the first mission with no warning?

    [/ QUOTE ]

You dont it gets no stars and stays at the bottom where it belongs?

    [/ QUOTE ]

That doesn't separate the dreadful arcs from the unplayed arcs though does it? And why should I have to spend half an hour or more of my time slogging through a dreadful mission/arc just to warn others not to do the same?

    Magic Origin

For me it's because magic covers a lot of origin territory. An example of my magic-origin characters:

Erin Brand - a woman who inherited her grandfather's longevity and his indestructible emerald blade. She's the closest I have to a fantasy roleplay type character, albeit a modern era one.

Dead Serious - a woman who was killed by Vazhilok's minions and resurrected by a higher power in a different body.

Officer Howard - a police officer who was bitten by a werewolf.

Count Gregor - a Russian vampire whose resting place was contaminated by radiation from Chernobyl. I could've gone science origin with him, but he was magic before science figured in.

And this last one brings me to another point. For me, if part of a character's powers can be explained by one origin and another part by another origin, there is a hierarchy.

    1) Pretty much everything trumps Natural - if I'm a martial artist who can summon dark forces to protect me, my origin is going to be magic. Unless all of my powers are natural - i.e., I'm an alien, I'm pretty much not going to be natural origin.

    2) Pretty much everything except Natural trumps Technology - if I'm a tech using mutant, I'm going to be mutant origin. If I am a Robotics master mind who taps into a mystic dimension to summon dark energies, I'm going to be magic origin.

    3) First-come-first-served. If I was born a mutant with the ability to project psychic blasts and someone teaches me how to set trip mines, my origin is going to be mutant; if I was doused with chemicals that gave me super-strength and then a wizard taught me spells to cover my body in flames, I'm going to be science origin. The exception to this rule is Rule 1) because pretty much everything trumps Natural.

    Powers

    [ QUOTE ]
We were polled (in 2006 ?), the same poll resulted in us getting Dual Blades, Willpower and Shield Defense. Growth was one of the powerset options in that poll. That same poll also mentioned that there were technical hurdles that needed to be overcome for sets like Growth and Shields, and if those sets won, it would take longer for them to be realized.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Does a copy of that poll still exist anywhere? Did anyone save a copy for posterity? It was before my time, but I'd love to see what some of the options were.

And I would LOVE a size alteration (growth and shrinking) power set. How a shield is more super than that, I have no idea. And heck, if it's too hard to implement actual super-growth/shrinking I could live with a size/body model alteration option in costume changes.
