  1. I started playing in January of 2008 and it took me 14 months to get my first 50 blueside and 15 months to get my first 50 redside. I don't farm AE missions or any other kind of missions, and I'm an incurable alt-aholic, so getting those toons to 50 was definitely an accomplishment for me. Both hit 50 last month and both were on the first two successful ITFs I've ever been on.
  2. I have a concept and name for a magic origin Dual Blades/Willpower villain, but I'm not sure if I want to make her a Brute or a Stalker, so I'm turnning to my fellow players for your opinions on this powerset combo for these two ATs. Which do you feel is a better fit and why?

    Thanks!

P.S. I have never played a stalker, and have only played brutes into the mid-teens. Also, I've never played a dual blades character.

    An aside:
    [ QUOTE ]
    anti-social

    [/ QUOTE ]
Anti-social is not the term you are looking for here, it is asocial.

Antisocial refers to a diagnosable mental disorder that is classified on the DSM IV-TR as a Personality Disorder. Basically, it equates to a sociopath or an up-and-coming homicidal maniac (okay, not really, but it gives a very stark and memorable picture).

Asocial, is far more innocuous and simply means not wanting to be around people, or prefering solitude.

Sorry to tangent, but it is a pet-peeve of mine and I hope to educate there are a lot of people that have no idea there is a difference.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I was one of those people, and thanks to your post I can now rest easy in the fact that I am merely asocial, not a borderline sociopath.

Now go away and leave me alone!
  4. It's selfish? Ha!

You asked us in an earlier post to call you nuts, well, wish granted - you, my friend, are nuts.
  5. An hour and a half on one mission? I don't think I've ever been on a TF team that would've lasted through that.
  6. [ QUOTE ]
[edit] hehe i love what castle hates

    [ QUOTE ]

    6. What sound or noise do you hate?
    High Pitched fans

    [/ QUOTE ]

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, I wonder if that's another way of saying, "whiney players."
  7. 1. What is your favorite word? Freem!

    2. What is your least favorite word? "Boobs" (I like the physical feature, just not that word for them.)

    3. What turns you on? Sexy legs.

    4. What turns you off? Dirty hair or otherwise poor hygiene.

    5. What sound or noise do you love? The muffled nature of traffic and other common outdoor sounds after a heavy snowstorm. Also - Freem!

    6. What sound or noise do you hate? Anything repetitive - especially any variation of children saying, "Mommy? Mommy? Mommy. Mommy? Mommy. Mommy. Mommy! Mommy?" while being ignored by their mother.

    7. What is your favorite curse word? It's not technically a curse word, but I like Jackhole. Also - Freem!

    8. What profession other than your own would you like to attempt? Assuming I had far more talent than I do now - comic book artist. Assuming I have exactly the same talents I have now - comic book editor.

    9. What profession would you not like to participate in? - Hospice nurse.

    10. If heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates. "No, there's no mistake, you're supposed to be here. Also? Freem!"
  8. [ QUOTE ]
Call me nuts and a nitpicker because I am certainly both these things, but I've always felt if there's going to be a costume contest the judges should state in a frank and concise manner what they are looking for in the winning costume. Aftwards explain WHY the winner won to avoid some skepticism about the contest being rigged; also and most importantly, have more than one judge so it curbs personal bias.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That seems like a lot of rules to impose on people who are giving away inf for FREE.
  9. [ QUOTE ]
What Im really asking is, what do you want to see headline an issue? what feature do you want that in and of itself, inspires the issue name (IE: Midnight Hour, Architect, Along came a spider)

I personally cant think of anything...

    [/ QUOTE ]

    - New lvl 1-20 content on both sides. Or at least lvl 1-10.
    - Dynamic/branching story arcs - i.e. story arcs you can play three or four times and have them turn out differently each time.
    - Atlantis.
    - Weather.

    The Devs Hate...

    [ QUOTE ]
You want to know what I hate? I'll tell you!

<ul type="square">[*] Embarrassing Situations in Sitcoms -- I literally have to change the channel or leave the room to avoid seeing the characters humiliated at times.[/list]

    [/ QUOTE ]

The British version of The Office must be your least favorite sitcom EVER.
  11. Mutation: More animal faces - ape/monkey, birds, fish (or at least a face with scales &amp; gills), insect, horse, lion, non-monsterous canines, etc.; more and/or better tails; more feet/boot options - paws, bird feet, webbed feet, ape feet; better "monsterous fur" options as well as bark, crystal, and scaly skin options.

Natural: Scabbards, quivers, holsters, backpacks, and a Superman-esque "ripping-your-shirt-open" costume change emote.

As for jetpacks, I'd like that option added as a craftable recipe similar to jet boots in a future issue, rather than as a part of a booster pack.
  12. I always say goodbye, or good night or whatever when I leave a team, and often I'll mention a mission or two ahead of time that "I've gotta go after one or more two missions."

I'm one of those people who enjoys teaming and playing solo, so there are lots of occasions where I'll get invited to a team after already playing solo for a couple hours. In those cases, another hour or so of teaming is usually enough for me. Even playing with an awesome team isn't as relaxing as soloing at my own pace, and playing with a mediocre team is sometimes downright stressful. So if I join a team and then drop after a few missions (I never drop after just one or two unless the team disbands, or just totally sucks), it's probably because I have been playing for a while already and need a break or have other stuff to do. I never have and never will drop from a TF/SF unless the team agrees to disband, or the TF/SF is completely hopeless - e.g. too few players to finish the mission.

    Rikti merits

    [ QUOTE ]
Would a larger team produce more drops or are they split, like recipes?

    [/ QUOTE ]

A larger team would cause larger spawns, and therefor moredefeated enemies. Since each defeated enemy has a 10%(?) chance to award a merit randomly to someone on the team, it is likely that more merits will be awarded to a large team than a small team. I am not sure if the per capita merits rewarded would be significantly higher on an 8-person team than a 4-person team though.
  14. My least favorite zones in the game are, in order:

    1) Skyway City - no WW, no university, no tailor, no easy way to get around, and all the contacts seem to make you run from one end of the zone to the other and to other zones for all their missions. I flat out hate Skyway City.

    2) IP - I dislike this zone for all the same reasons I hate Skyway, but there is something about it that makes it slightly less unappealing to me than Skyway. Maybe it's the fact that by the time I hit IP, I ofetn have a travel power and don't have to burn all the time on the raptor ot zero-G packs to get around.

    3) Sharkhead. I just dislike Sharkhead due to how hard it is to get around with all the mining pits and what-not.
  15. I don't have any heroes high enough on Virtue, but I could do the LGTF tonight and the ITF Thursday with my lvl 48 Mind/Fire dom if that's acceptable. I'll admit that running on invincible scares me a bit, but I'll go with the flow. Debt is just another badge.
  16. I'm back from sunny Florida, so I plan to be there.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
I was paired up with mousedroid with the theme of Futuristic.

The character they sent for me to use was The Erin Brand, I must confess this gave me a bit of trouble seeing how the character is already highly tech based, but I’m pretty happy with the result I came up with. Hopefully mousedroid will be too!

P.S. I really like the direction you took with Hubba Bubbles costume mousedroid.

    The Erin Brand

    Bio:
Brigid Mackin was born in Ireland on February 2, 1908. In 1913 her parents, grandfather and younger sister emigrated to the US. On her 18th birthday, Brigid's grandfather died and unbeknowst to her at the time, she inherited his mystical longevity - she has only aged about 8 years since then. On Brigid's 100th birthday she inherited something else - her grandfather's supernatural strength and his magical longsword - the Emerald Blade.

Brigid's ancestors had long been the protectors of Ireland, and her grandfather was in fact well over 600 years old when he died. Rather than return to Ireland, Brigid decided to remain in her adopted home - Paragon City - and use her powers to protect the entire world. She adopted the name The Erin Brand, meaning The Sword of Ireland, to honor her heritage.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I like it a lot, RedFireFox, thanks! As I mentioned, I have a "future" version of Erin Brand I'm not happy with, so I will be making slight changes to your version of the costume to use as her future duds. For example, she loses her sword arm in the Second Rikti War in..., well I can't tell you when it occurs, but she gets a cybernetic right arm shortly after that.

Thanks again, and I'm glad you liked my take on H.B.!
  18. OK, this is a bit of a rush job because I leave for vacation tomorrow, so I hope RideFireFox isn't too disappointed.

I give you the discoqueen, Hubba Bubbles:

    Original version: http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j8...ubblespost.png

Bio: Hubba Bubbles was once a normal disco queen, she spent her nights at the grooviest clubs in town; until one night. . . . . . .

One club offered a magical bubbly experience; there was an unfortunate accident though. One of the bubble maker machines malfunctioned, there was an explosion and Hubba Bubbles was caught in it. After she recovered she found she was able to project bubbles at will.

With the help of Hero Corps she learned how to make her bubbles stronger, strong enough to shield others. She soon hit the streets to help other heroes defend the city.

Unfortunately due to the common problems Portal Corporation cause in their many exploration projects, she was pulled into our time stream, and has been stranded here ever since.

Ever nostalgic for her own era, Hubba Bubbles decided to use one of the Time Menders' Pillars of Ice and Flame to try to return home. But Murphy's Law intervened again, and instead of returning to her own time and time stream, she slipped into an alternate future that looked vaguely familiar to her.

On Earth 4391, a global thermonuclear war wreaked havoc on civilization in 1988. Few records of the prewar era survived, but then, in 2027 explorers discovered a cache of pristine old videos in a vault in what used to be California. As the only link to the past, the videos became very popular and soon everyone who had means to watch them had a copy. Their popularity dictated everything from fashion to the names of newborn babies to the direction of technological research.
Unfortunately, the videos were all from the vault of an uber-rich sci-fi fan and collector, so the fashions and future of Earth 4391 came to resemble reruns of Logan's Run, Battlestar Galactica, and Buck Rogers in the 25th Century.

In this future, silver and gold lamé were traded like precious metals, and if your hair wasn't feathered, you were a social pariah. Hubba Bubbles, ever the fashion-conscious superhero made the most of what was available in this era when putting together a new costume. And while she wouldn't give in to her hairdresser, Twiki's insistance on the "Farrah" cut, she did agree to something a little more practical.

    Mistrust

    [ QUOTE ]
Your lower level character will make money on his own as he levels. All you need is a couple of lucky drops and you're set.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is the only situation I find myself in where I wish I could pass down inf from a higher level toon. I've had a few VERY lucky drops while playing in the 10-15 range - recipies that are selling for 10-20 million - but I've been burned by not having sufficient inf to set a decent asking price. I've "lost" 10-million inf recipies by having them sell for "only" 1-million.

Not to say 1-million inf isn't a lot of money for a level 11 toon, but it's not 10-million.
  20. Am I the only one with a sudden craving for a candy bar?
  21. If you play smart and use good tactics (e.g. learn how to pull and how to use your powers' secondary effects to maximum advantage), blasters can solo well and relatively safely well into their 20s (and maybe beyond, but the highest I can say I've soloed a blaster is like 28-30).
  22. Had a great time kicking vampyre butt last night gang. As I mentioned before logging off, I'll be out of town on vacation the 10th through the 19th, so I won't be able to play at all next week. I hope you guys are able to though!

    I met a newbie!

    [ QUOTE ]
I said, "Err." (Yes, I stutter in-game. Hush.) He then asked me how to get back to Atlas. It turned out he had just bought the game, was fiddling with powers, used the Pocket D VIP pass by mistake, and got from there to Talos. I had to escort him on foot and use base teleporters to get him back. He was very amazed that I could fly. A week later I saw him, now level 17... with Fly.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Heh, that reminds me of my first month playing the game. I was messing around in Mercy Island on a newly created corruptor when someone invited me to join their VG. I had never joined a VG so I figured "why not?" The next time I got killed, the "Go to your base" option popped up, so again I figured "why not?"

The problem was, when I got to the base, there was no telepad back to Mercy, and being a newb, I didn't know about just jumping in the base porter to get back to where you were. I didn't know much about chat, so I didn't realize there was an SG chat tab, and broadcast obviously did me no good because there was no one else in the base.

With no other obvious options I found the lowest level porter in the base, which went to Cap, and used it. I learned a lot about aggro range that afternoon trying to sneak around all the Arachnos, Sky Raiders and Luddites in Cap on my little level 3-4 corruptor. I obviously didn't realize I should've just jumped in the water and swam to the PO ferry.

I've encountered a few newbs and newb2.0s* since MA came out. Most have been pleasent experiences.

*Newb2.0 is what I call a player who has returned to the game after years and is learning to play all over again due to changes and/or rustiness.
  24. [u]The "Penalty Box" Powerset for brutes and stalkers[u]

Slashing - You "draw" a hockey stick and slash your opponents across the hands. Effect: Minor damage and a damage debuff.

Spearing - You jab your opponent in the belly with the stick. Effect: Moderate damage, and slow movement or -recharge.

High Sticking - You smack your opponent in the head with your stick. Effect: Moderate damage + disorient.

Cross Checking - Two handed attack. You slam your stick horizontally into your opponent. Effect: High damage and good chance of knockdown.

Fighting - You become enraged and drop your gloves. Effect: self +damage +to-hit.

Tripping - PBAoE. You sweep your stick in an arc in front of you. Moderate DoT and a chance for knockdown of all foes in range.

Charging - You rush an opponent or group of opponents. Effect: PBAoE superior damage, foe knockdown, self teleport (Similar to Shield Charge power).

That's all I can think of offhand.
  25. [ QUOTE ]
It would be 'fun' to have the doors be animated revolving doors which are intangible and you can just walk right through them. That would solve the problem of having a door for aesthetic reasons and not have to go through the blackout-and-warp rigamarole just to move three feet.

    [/ QUOTE ]
It would also be even more energy efficient than the current design with respect to heating and cooling the building.
