Thanks for the input, Local Man. You have a great point about the Dom-Mez-Lev attack chain. I have played a Mind Control Dom up to 50 and that combo is a killer, particularly for soloing.
As far as TK, I never took it on my Dom, or rather I took it and then quickly respec'd out of it. I mostly soloed with that toon and TK was such an End hog, and p.i.t.a. to use, I quickly dropped it. I use Mass Hypnosis quite a bit with that character, but like I said, she mostly runs solo, so she doesn't have to worry about someone's AoE waking everyone she just put to sleep. By contrast, I used to play a Fire/Fire blaster on a team and I was forever waking up the foes the troller just put to sleep.
Confuse is a great power, and while I really think it's more useful when soloing, I can't make a MC and not take it.
Regarding the Pool Powers, the only other one I could really say fits the concept (which is always important to me) is Force Mastery.
Power Selection List, Take Two:
1 - Levitate
1 - Healing Aura
2 - Dominate
4 - Mesmerize
6 - Confuse
8 - Heal Other
10 - Swift
12 - Hover
14 - Health
16 - Clear Mind
18 - Total Domination
20 - Stamina
22 - Fortitude
24 - Hasten
26 - Terrify
28 - Recovery Aura
30 - Mass Hypnosis
32 - Mass Confusion
35 - Regeneration Aura
38 - Adrenalin Boost
41 - Fly
44 - Conserve Power
47 - Energy Torrent
50 - Power Boost
I dropped Resurrect (on the theory that if I need Ressurect, I'm not doing my job in the first place), which eliminates the need for Recall Friend; dropped TK, and added Mesmerize and Mass Hypnosis; switched from Psychic Mastery to Primal Forces Mastery; and took Fly a little earlier. I'd like to find a way to take Fly even earlier, but I don't really want to put off any of my buffs longer than I have to.
If anyone else has any advice, feel free to chime in. -

Starting a new Mind Control/Empathy Controller at level 1 tonight and I'm looking for advice on the following power selection list. This toon will almost exclusively be played on a team.
1 - Levitate
1 - Healing Aura
2 - Dominate
4 - Heal Other
6 - Confuse
8 - Swift
10 - Resurrect
12 - Hover
14 - Health
16 - Clear Mind
18 - Total Domination
20 - Stamina
22 - Fortitude
24 - Hasten
26 - Terrify
28 - Recovery Aura
30 - Telekinesis
32 - Mass Confusion
35 - Regeneration Aura
38 - Adrenalin Boost
41 - Mental Blast
44 - Indominable Will
47 - Mind over Body
50 - Fly
Some notable powers I am missing in this list - Mesmerize, Mass Hypnosis, and Recall Friend. Recall Friend really doesn't fit the concept, and I'm really only considering it because of Resurrect, which is a power I'm waffling on taking.
Any critiques or advice? -
Head to Head is hanging out in Antonio Nash's office, perusing his library.
Head to Head asked Mr. Nash for a mission, but he claimed the Hellions he needs rooted out of an office building down town are too numerous, and too dangerous for one hero to handle. He suggested Head to Head wait for a few other new heroes to arrive, and team up with them. -
Name - Waitress.
Global Contact - @mousedroid
Level of Classification - Lvl 50 Mind/Fire Dom
Origin - Mutant
Super Group & Rank - Texarkana (ugh) & Supreme Leader
Optional - Yes. I'm willing to lead a squadron if I am paid well. -
Have they already performed the morning maintenance? That's when specially events typically get turned off - during first maintenance period after the announced end of the event. If they have already done maintenance, I don't know why it's continuing.

Quote:Starting this Thursday is OK with me, and actually, I just realized I will miss next Thursday because I'll be on a plane to Orlando on a business trip. (sorry)Heh... Starting on my birthday. I can grab another concept if shapeshifting is taken.
As for shapeshifting, it's cool Mistah H, I don't want to make anyone change their concept. And as I said, my character isn't actually a shapeshifter anyway, but rather a bodysurfer, or "brainsurfer." Head-to-Head uses telepathy from a remote location to take control of other people's bodies, usually choosing random villains so that innocent people don't get hurt.
Anything else about Head-to-Head will have to be learned through RP and interaction.
Also, while I'm still leaning towards MC/Emp controller, I could make Head-to-Head an Emp/Psi Defender if we really feel like we need a defender. -

Quote:I could get behind your idea of Server Transfer credits, Rename credits, and additional AE slots, because those are things I could buy if I really wanted them, but at this point I sure hope that nothing to do with costumes, particularly not something as significant as new colors, is ever again made a vet reward.Other items I would think would be great veteran rewards, but have not been awarded yet. Additional Costume Slots, Unique Colors, Unique Capes and Auras, Rename credits, additional profiles, free server transfers and additional AE publishing slots. None make the character more powerful, but allow the players to stand out and/or correct errors of the past.
I'm a 24 month vet, and I love this game, and plan to play it for as long as it's around, but to think that I would have to wait four years (and hope the game is still around) to get a sixth costume slot, or additional costume colors or auras, would just suck.
Inspirations that make other players a wee bit tougher in PvE? I'm all for it! If my blaster teammate is hitting more often, and my tanker teammate is doing more damage, that means I'm getting XP at a slightly higher rate. -
Hey, thgebull0425, I'm willing to try this with you again (you may remember me as Samandarun from Fortune's Five). Oh how I wish we already had side switching because I have a concept for a Mind/Psi dominator I would love to play as a hero.
Since we don't, however, my best choices to fit the concept would be to play, in order of preference:
Mind/Empathy Controller, or Psi/Mental Blaster - leaning towards the 'troller, but pretty much even depending on whether the team is more in need of support or damage.
Empathy/Psi Defender - a distant third. -
By the way, great avatar. I loved Persis in ST:TMP. So sad that she died so young.

While I absolutely think you will, and should, win, there are a lot of eligibility requirements etc., etc., so who knows.
Also, and I'm not trying to say you shouldn't win, but the instructions above say, "The goal is to be the first one to find the words based on the theme (without being told what they are), circle them in the word block (using Paint or an equivalent program) and then list them below it."
That's probably not going to mean you won't win, and IMO it shouldn't, but if it did and someone else posted another entry that did win, I'd kick myself for not posting mine. -
Just in case there is something wacky with Dollymistress' entry, I will submit mine too:
If I am a winner, I permit NC Interactive, Inc. and NCsoft Europe Limited to use my name, likeness, photograph, hometown, and any comments that I may make about myself or this contest that I provide for advertising and promotional activities. I also certify that I am at least 13 years of age and am eligible to participate in this contest. -
Quote:Vahz was the hard one. I had to take a second look at it all for that. I was sure Igneous or Arachnos were in there...but no.
We need more tests of brains here. I am better at this than I am at the chalet slopes
Vahz was actually the first one I got. Hellions and Snakes were the two that gave me trouble.
Congrats, Dollymistress. -
Quote:Three for four - not bad - and that last one was anybody's game at the end.My predictions for this weekend's games:
Baltimore over New England (please, no)
NYJ over Cincy
Dallas over Philly
Green Bay over Arizona
My predictions for this week's games:
Baltimore over Indy (again, please, no)
San Diego over NYJ
Dallas over Minnesota
Arizona over New Orleans
I'd be happy with that last game going either way, and I really think it is a complete toss up. With the two high scoring offenses and sub-par defenses that will be playing in that game, could we see the record for highest-scoring postseason game broken a mere week after it was set? -
Hube, your luck has definitely been poor with regard to team who flame you. In the 2+ years I've been playing, I can probably count on one hand the number of teams I had to quit because I couldn't stand the other members. And I play mainly on Virtue (and Guardian).
I have/had lots of the same issues as you - I can't fight effectively and carry on a chat conversation at the same time. In one recent TF someone on the team mentioned how quiet everyone was being. I replied, "I can either type or kill stuff, I can't do both at the same time." The team favored me killing stuff.
I also have had , and to some extent still have, the problem you mentioned with the power Speed Boost (SB) - it's great outdoors, but it's a pain in tight Council or CoT caverns. One thing I have found to help mitigate the problem is, if I have Hover, I use that to move instead of running or flying, it is much more controllable. Unfortunately SB is such a great power otherwise, I never turn it down.
Lastly, I like doing the side missions on the Safeguard missions too. Sometimes I even stay long enough to clear the whole map. It seems like when I started playing, most teams would do side missions, but these days, few do. For that reason I generally plan to do Safeguard and Mayhem missions solo at least once.
As others have said, once you have a few more months, or hopefully years, of playing under your cape, you may find the run-n-gun teams the way to go. When I want to take my time and enjoy the scenery, or read the clues and enjoy the story, I play solo. When I want to get some levels behind me, or I run into a challenge I can't handle solo, I team up.
It can be fun to occasionally run with a small team that takes their time and/or RPs, but in your (and my) days of playing D&D, the group was usually a bunch of friends with like interests and/or backgrounds sitting around having a good time. But when you form a PuG in a game like CoX, you might be playing with a 15 year old boy, a woman in college, someone who has read comics for 20+ years, and someone who has never picked up a comic book in their life and just likes MMORPGs. When that's the case, it's tough, if not impossible to get everyone on the same page and when the group's playstyle goes against the individual's they indiviudal usually quits to find a group that better fits their style.
Oh and one other thing - 24 months into this game and I woudl still rather join a team than form one, unless it is for a limited duration event like a Rikti/Zombie invasion or a Giant Monster team.
ETA: Wow, that ended up being really long! -
I'd like to try this since I've never been on a Hamidon Raid (although I guess that might make me a liability). I believe I have the nukes already and enough Vanguard merits for a HVAS, but I don't have a Shivan or any EoE inspirations. I know how to get the Shivan, so I will work on that, but what's the best way to get a bunch of EoE inspirations?
Also, would Snow Beasts be of any value in this? -
Quote:Unfortunately a new stadium has not had the same effect on the Pirates (who also used to play at Three Rivers) since they set the all-time MLB record for futility with their 17th consecutive losing season in 2009.Ah okay...didn't know about the Steeler's new stadium. Now that I've seen/read that name I do remember games from "Three Rivers Stadium".
And see what a new stadium did for the Steelers? 2 SBs after that
Back on topic...
My predictions for this weekend's games:
Baltimore over New England (please, no)
NYJ over Cincy
Dallas over Philly
Green Bay over Arizona -
You're not mistaken about the name of their current stadium, but the Steelers played in Three Rivers Stadium through the 2000 season. The Eagles began playing at Lincoln Financial Field in 2003 after years at Veterans Stadium.
-
As I understand it, the reason for this is that there are multiple sprint powers due to Vet rewards.
-
To the folks from San Diego - I feel you regarding the stadium taxes; I don't think it's the least bit fair to tax ordinary people to pay for something that a multi-millionaire (in some cases -billionaire) will use. But will losing in the playoffs actually stop a new stadium from being built? Unless the owner is going to move the team to L.A. or something if he doesn't get a new stadium, I think you guys are out of luck.
In the last ten years, both Pennsylvania NFL teams got new stadiums despite the fact that they'd each only been to one SB since 1980, and neither of them had won since the Steelers in 1979. I'm sure the same is true of several other franchises around the league too. Look at the Cowboys - they haven't won a playoff game in like 10 years. Although to be fair, I don't know the financing details of the new billion dollar Cowboys stadium, but I would be very surprised to learn that no public money went towards its construction. -
Quote:Two other things:In general I'd say the GvE version has the most useful freebies, the Pocket D teleporter is useful for getting around and the Jump Pack is handy for vertical movement both prior to getting a travel power and if you choose to take Super Speed. The costume pieces are nice but (IMHO) not great.
The Pocket D teleporter is the easiest/quickest way to access a tailor beginning at level 3.
Activating the Jump Pack while flying, whether its with one of the earnable Jet Packs or the power Fly, will put you at the flight speed cap for 30 seconds every 2 minutes. I'll often "race" teammates across the Hollows using Raptor Packs just to read the comments when I activate my Jump Pack and pull ahead of everyone. -
Or you could do what I do - join a SG/VG, and wait for all the other players to quit the game. I've inherited at least three SG bases and at least one VG base this way. Now, if only I could change the dumb names the creatos gave the groups.

Quote:You don't actually lose any XP when you "die" - you never go backwards in this game - instead debt just makes going forward a little slower. In the old days, way before my time, debt was a serious pain in the... from what I understand.Err..what? I have died before and never noticed this! Sorry for sounding completely dumb and n00bish but how come I am in so much debt? Is there a specific amount of XP you lose when you die?
These days though you work off debt even when you're not playing, so it's really not a big deal anymore. In fact, there are badges for working off debt, so once you get to 50, you may start getting defeated on purpose just so you can earn those badges. -
Worst possible outcome: Ravens vs. Cowboys with either team winning.
Who I'd like to see: Chargers vs. Packers, Saints, Cardinals or Vikings, with either team winning as long as it is an exciting, competitive game.
Who I think it will be: Chargers vs. Cowboys - winner Cowboys.\
My question is, what were they thinking with the Pro Bowl? It'll likely get better ratings being the week before the SB instead of the week after, but who the heck is going to play in it? The two teams going to the SB aren't going to let their players play in the PB. Of course that won't matter if the Bengals make it to the SB since none of their players were invited to the PB anyway.
