Quote:I know what a "stoner" is, but I have no idea how "skunk" relates to drugs. I'd also never heard the term "sweetleaf" refer to drugs, or tea for that matter.Oh right so you don't know what Skunk is but you know what a Stoner is?
Also, there was a thread on here in the last month I believe about someone using the name Roll a J getting genericed. So despite it not being excplicity forbidden, if you use a drug reference in the name of your character, expect to eventually loose the name of that character.
Here's a suggestion - call him something like "Shattered Dreamer" and just mention the hallucinogens in his bio. That is far less likely to draw the generic bat. -
I would love it if they took Power Customization to the next level and allowed things like the limited ability to customize where your attacks originated. For example, I'd like all of myy radiation blaster's ranged attacks to come from his eyes, while I'd prefer to have my gravity dominator's powers come from his mind.
It would also be cool to add some further level of customization to the look of the powers, but I'd be satisfied with origin points as a first step. And obviously this could be open ended, so there would be like 4 points to choose from: Hands, eyes, mouth, and head. And the center of the chest could be another possibility if you wanted to say you had a mystic sigil on as your chest emblem and it was the source of your powers. -
Not if your SGs/VGs all have dumb names like the ones I'm in. If global SGs/VGs lead to SG/VG rename tokens, I would be in favor of it soley for that reason, let alone all the other good ones.

After the first time I fought the Kronos Titan, I was inspired to make a giant robot character of my own. I had also just finished reading a biography of Andrew Carnegie. The thoughts and inspirations sort of mixed together, and the result was The Titan of Industry (sorry about the image size):

I guess it could be the SG base thing you mentioned, I never thought about where I had last logged out when this happened, but none of the other factors you mentioned were applicable the last time this happened, which was earlier this week.
I had played on Sunday night, and when I was done, I logged out as normal - no disconnects or anything else odd. I closed the game, turned off the computer and went to bed. The next morning (around 8 hours later) I got up, turned on the computer, started the game, typed in my password and clicked enter, and got the message that my account was already logged in.
IIRC after that I still had to click "Enter" again to get into the server list, so that's why it ssems more like a notification glitch to me than a situation with my account not logging out. -
This is something I probably should have asked about when it first happened, but the Game Security post in the Announcements section has finally prompted me to.
For the past... I don't even know how long... maybe six months or so, I have occasionally gotten a message like the one in the thread title when logging into the game. This has occured even if I have logged out, exited the game and shut down the computer for more than a day.
I have never had any other trouble logging in, and I've never noticed anything that would make me think someone was tampering with my account, but like I said, the announcement today got me thinking about this again.
Anyone know if this issue has been brought up before, and if so what the response was?
Thanks. -
Quote:That name check fucntion hasn't worked for me since the day they unveiled the new costume creator features. I'm sure it's some sort of bug.So I sit around, making a character for around five minutes (I had the costume all planned out beforehand), get to the name selection field and type the name in. Just to be sure (and out of disbelief), I hit Check Name. "This name could not be checked." Son of a... Hit again, cannot be checked again. Why, I don't know, but I decided to give the name check system the finger and go ahead with it anyway. Name went through and the game popped me up into Outbreak.

My 2010 CoX goals are fairly modest - get a villain to 50 on Guardian, and a hero to 50 on Virtue.

Quote:Fixed that for you. Then please understand that you are playing at very off-peak times for most of the server. At 9 AM my time, I am at work. At the same time, it is 6 AM in California, and people are sitting in traffic. In the middle, there is probably a combination of the two.
You may want to check out Justice, and see if there are a bunch of people there that play around your time. Or, at the least, see if there is a Global Channel on Freedom that caters to people who play around the time you are on. -
At this time, no, heroes and villains cannot cross over. Villains are stuck in the Rogue Isles and heroes are limited to Paragon City. This should change in some way with Going Rogue.
If you're not on a restricted budget, I would suggest buying Architect, the Mac expansion, and Good vs. Evil (or is that what you already bought?) The Mac expansion, which you don't have to use a Mac to buy, comes with the Valkyrie costume expansion pack (wings and a cape at level 1), Architect comes with a "coupon" for one of the origin-based expansion packs (Tech or Magic I think) and GvE comes with a Pocket D teleporter and a vertical-jump rocket pack. Each also comes with a free month of game time, so they cost almost nothing once you factor in the free time and the free expansion packs.
If money is an object, and you can only buy one right now, I'd suggest GvE because I think its freebies are the most useful to new players. If you already bought that though, go for Architect - it's the best monetary value and if you're buying the boxed version, it has the most up-to-date software, so if you ever have to reinstall the game, it will take far less time to do so if you start wit the Architect disk. -
I wonder how the player base would take to occasional GM and/or AV/Hero invasions like we had during last years fifth anniversary celebration. I thought it was awesome to see Jurassik, the Kronos Titan, the Jade Spider, and other GMs rampaging in Steel Canyon; or Lord Recluse and his cronies invading Atlas Park; or Statesman and the Freedom Force showing outside the Golden Giza in St. Martial.
Though the cynic in me feels like if they tried something like this again, half the player base would *&^$% because it kept them hunting Skulls and the other half would complain that the Devs were just recycling old content.
Also, I totally agree that we need a GIANT giant monster - a Godzilla/Cloverfield type that is huge (like 10 stories tall, minimum), totally unique, can spawn randomly in any zone blueside or red, and that actually rampages, not just stands around filing its nails waiting for someone to punch it. -
First of all, welcome to the game.
Second, the morning of a work/school day in the US is probably not the best time to judge server population activity.
Third, When you sign into the game you see a list of servers to choose from; the one at the top is the last server you were signed in on, from there the servers run from lowest load at the top to highest load at the bottom. Server load ╪ population, but it is a good guide to which servers probably have more players on them.
Freedom and Virtue are typically the most populated servers, so those are probably the "best" servers to find a team at any given time. However, I think the folks from Australia, New Zealand, ect. tend to play on a certain server (Justice?) so if you are looking for a team during business, or sleep, hours in the US, you might be better off looking on one where the Australasian or European players congregate. -
Quote:Head to Head isn't intentionally disrespectful, in fact he's the only one who calls you Mr. Gold, but he is just a kid, so he has trouble being serious all the time. The group so far has Gold, and four other heroes, all of whom are rebellious and disrespectful, his hope is to mold the team. Having said that, nobody needs to follow that mould, just the way it played out in our first session.
Maybe the team needs to teach Mr. Gold to lighten up from time to time, as much as he needs to teach them about respect and teamwork. -
Unless I'm missing something, there is no way to get into Police HQ in Galaxy City. This is probably because there's no Galaxy City Safeguard mission, but it would still be nice for new heroes who start in GC to have the same opportunity to earn the Law Enforcer badge as heroes who start in Atlas Park.
And I know there are already other inequalities like no WW in GC, and no Arena in AP, but since there is already a Police bldg in GC, it makes sense to be able to earn the badge there.
If I'm just missing the way to get inside, let me know. I tried entering the door on the street, right under the PPD sign, and either I got a "You cannot enter" message, or it wasn't a operable door at all, I can't recall which. -
Wow, 0-4 in my predictions this weekend. I'm so glad the Ravens and Cowboys proved me wrong, I'm perfectly OK with the Saints beating the Cardinals, and while I have nothing against the Jets, I would've liked to see San Diego get back to the SB.
My predictions for Championship weekend:
Indianapolis squeaks by New York. I think Indy has the better team overall, and homefield is always huge for them, but I think Ryan might be a better coach than Caldwell, and the Jets will be playing with a 'nothing to lose" attitude, so I think they give the Colts a fight.
New Orleans crushes Minnesota. Honestly, I'd love to see either team in the SB, and I think this game might interest me more than the SB, but the way the Saints were firing on all cylinders on Saturday, they look close to unstoppable. -
Quote:I take it your powers of telepathy allow you to ascertain this? If that's the case, your brain needs a tune-up. I like the Rikti Invasions, and yeah, they might have been too frequent two years ago, but we don't get them anywhere nearly that frequently now.Although it is kinda funny how some of these people here are faking their enthusiasm.
Maybe I'm the only CoX player who is constantly making new toons, and therefore constantly in need of the Accolade associated with the invasions. Or maybe it's because I play solo 80% of the time, so I don't care what I'm doing at any given moment, but even if I'm playing a toon who already has all the badges, 9 times out of ten, I'll join an invasion team. It's a quick way to get drops, and if you're low level it's a good opportunity to earn XP. I also like helping other people get the badge. -
I've had lousy luck with timing the last few double XP weekends, either being out of town on vacation or business during them, so I am really hoping the next one isn't the weekend of 1-22 thru 1-24.
To answer the original question though, I find the early levels easy enough to get through, so if I'm able to play during the next 2xXp weekend, I'll probably concentrate on a few characters in the 20-30 range. Most likely it'll be a hero on Virtue and a villain on Guardian, since I want to get one of each of these to 50 in 2010. -
Then there are the people like me who completely missed this and are bummed. You can't please every(any?)one, I guess.

One thing about tonight - if there is some sort of super special, one-time only Rikti event going on tonight, I am going to have trouble passing it up. If it's just a regular Rikti Invasion, no big deal.
-
This better still be happening by the time I get home from work!
-
The only thing that will upset me about this is if it is some kind of super special one-time event, even it it is only the Mothership appearing above Atlas Park, and I miss it because it was kept such a secret, and I was at work. Sort of like if they'd sprung the whole 5th Anniversary event on us without prior warning.
Also, isn't there usually a 2xXP weekend in late January? I know it usually falls on the weekend I'm out of town at an engineering convention, and that is next weekend. Seems highly unlikely there'd be an overlap of 2xXP and Rikti Invasion, although maybe the bonus 2xXP weekend in... October(?) eliminated the need for one in January.
