    SnOMG!!!

Pics from south central PA this morning...

My car halfway through shoveling it out:

And I call this one, "Curiosity chilled the cats":

  2. After 2+ years I still play probably 50-60% of my time on toons from lvl 1-10, so yeah there's lots of low level activity in this game.

Thanks. There are some costume parts (primarily on the Cabal Adept and the Red Ink Man I didn't post) and logos (Skulls, Hellions, etc.) that I don't have access to that would have improved them, but I appreciate the positive feedback.
  4. Thanks for the advice, Jade Dragon

I am trying something similar. My character has insect powers so when she wants to fly she shrinks down and grows wings. I can't shrink to insect size, but I figured I could use Stealth to simulate that. My alternative is to buy a couple of super expensive Freebird +Stealth IOs.
  5. Can a macro be written to execute more than one power?

I know I can use the following macro to turn on fly and change my costume:

    /macro F Powexecname Fly$$cc 1

But is there a way to write a macro that would do the above - turn on fly and change costumes, but also turn on Stealth?
  6. I don't know why they don't just save the Deadly Apocalypse for the Halloween event. We already have zombie and Rikti invasions, which I like and always join in on if I'm in that zone, even if the character I'm playing already has all the badges. But it's like the OP says, without a couple of full teams, the DA is next to impossible to succeed at, even on high level character.

And it's not like the Winter Lord appears in the middle of June, so I think the DA should be reserved for Halloween when people are expecting it and more likely to team up for it.
  7. I just find it odd that the rules of the Permadeath group are so restrictive with respect to Wentworths and Safegaurds and what-not, yet you can be resurrected by a teammate if you die. That seems like the one no-brainer off-limits restriction to me.

As for the success of the group, I think it is like other people have said in different words - people think it'll be a cool challenge at first, but when they realize what a PITA it is to play by all those rules, they stop bothering with it.

That said, good luck with your recruiting drive. It's certainly not the way I would prefer to play the game, but hopefully you'll find some other like-minded individuals to join you.
  8. I imagine that it will be just as fruitless to ask this week as it has been every week since the first of the year, but...

Is NCSoft/Paragon Studios going to be set up at PAX East?
  9. Yeah, I knew SSK would change the dynamics of this process this year, but I didn't really think through how.

I have a toon at the cusp of level 8 now, so I'll get her up to the cusp of 9 before I grab the mission, and then run her up to about 11 before I start helping other folks.

My highest level villain on that server is only 21 though, so he's got a little more work ahead of him.

    Thanks again.
  10. Here is a picture of most of the costumes I came up with for the villains Head-to-Head, the quadrapelic telepath I mentioned above, takes over. I also have a Rogue Islands Policeman and an unmasked Tsoo Red Ink Man that didn't fit. Any suggestions on making these better, or more accurate, would be appreciated.

Left to right: Gardvord, Blood Brother Slammer, Infected/Contaminated Scavenger, Cabal Adept, and Gravedigger Slugger

  11. I'm assuming there will be a Valentines Event again this year, and I want to have a villain available who can help heroes get the Weedwacker or Coldblooded badge, or whichever one requires heroes to defeat the type of CoT mobs that only occur redside. However, I can't remember what the ideal level range is for spawning the type of adversary required.

Can anyone remind me, so I can make sure my villain is that level before the festivities start?

I am playing a character on Virtue who is a quadrapelic, but his powers include the ability to project his mind into the bodies of other people. He tends to take over the bodies of villians because normal people would be killed fighting crime. I have tried to make simulated generic costumes of several factions, not all of which are very good. I will post screenshots of them tonight and if anyone has any suggestions to improve them, I'd appreciate it. Off the top of my head I have a member of the Skulls, Hellions, Contaminated/Infected, Trolls, and Cabal, and maybe one or two more.
  13. Mine are both due to known glitches in the game.

The first happened about 3 months into playing the game. I was in Steel Canyon on my scrapper and I forget what I was doing but I left either a store or the university and ran to my current mission door. When I got there the mission door wouldn't open. That wasn't my WTF Moment though. I wasn't sure what to do and didn't yet know how to contact support for help, so I decided to try to find another player to ask them. That's when I noticed there were no other players on the streets of Steel Canyon. Not only that, there were no mobs either. And no civilians, and no cars, and even Posi and Valkyrie had gone missing. It was a total 28 Days Later WTF moment to be in a completely empty city. I basked in the weirdness of it for a little while and then logged out. When I logged back in everything was fine.

The second was last winter during the holidays. I was running BNY missions with a team on my dom and at one point I went back to the Ski Chalet for some reason. When I got to the mission door the rest of the team was inside and just as I clicked the mission door, someone used Team TP on me. The result was I ended up inside the mission, but outside the map. Instead of being in the woods outside of Croatoa, I was in a completely deserted Croatoa by myself. I could see my teammates on the map but I couldn't get to them. I think I had to wait until they finished the mission so I could exit. Again is was kind of cool, but I don't think I got any mission credit because I wasn't on the map. This has happened to me at least one other time since then - on a map where you have to get past a bunch of Longbow onto a cargo ship.

Just last night I had more of a PITA moment than a WTF moment. I was soloing a bank mission on a Rad/EM blaster and I got the "stop the jailbreak" side mission. Everything went well until I energy punched the last minion and he got knocked back through one of the reinforced jail doors. At that point he was trapped inside and I had no way to get to him. Ironically that side mission failed when I couldn't arrest the last minion, because he was already in jail!

    Did I screw up?

    Ok, thanks for the responses!
  15. You know, there is a much more logical solution to the "Server Population Disparity Problem." Instead of merging servers like everyone always suggests, why doesn't anyone ever prose to reduce the number of character slots? If everyone only had five character slots per server, they'd have little choice but to branch out to other servers to create more alts. Not only would this likely boost the population of servers like Pinnacle, but it would probably have the added side benefit of reducing lag on servers like Virtue and Freedom during peak hours and during major events.

Yes, I know it is at least as bad, and probably a worse, an idea as server mergers, I just wonder why no one ever suggests it.

Me too. I have a character I want to delete who had over 600 AE tix, so I decided to try this this morning. I got really lucky on my first roll and scored a Karma: Knockback Protection. I also snagged some other stuff that wasn't as special, including a Steadfast Protection: End/Res, but I think I came out ahead as far as what I had to spend vs what I got.

    Did I screw up?

I decided to create a second account so that I could move some influence/infamy around, and take care of some SG/VG invites. I figured I might as well take advantage of the "Invite a Friend" offer to get a free month on my primary account, so I went through the whole invite process and NCSoft e-mailed me the trial serial code.

However, when I tried to create a new master account, I had all kinds of problems with the password creation step - no matter what I did, it told me the password I typed in the confirmation box didn't match the password I typed in the first box, even though I KNOW they did.

I then decided the only way I was going to be able to move forward was by creating a second account under my existing master account. I didn't think about it at the time, but did doing this void the whole "Invite a Friend" offer? I was still able to create a trial account using the serial code they provided, but when I updgraded to a full account, I didn't get anything that told me I was getting a free month on my existing account.

Now, I've never done this before, so I don't know how it works. I assumed that as soon as I paid for the game with the "Friend" account, I would get credit on the first account, but does the "Friend" account have to pay for another month after the first "free" month is up? Or do I just not know where to look for the one month credit on my main/first account.

Sorry if this is tl;dr, but then again if it was, you wouldn't get this apology.

You don't know your credit card number? Clearly you aren't buying enough stuff online.
  19. I'd be cool with sonic manipulation or radiation manipulation secondaries for blasters, but I'd hope they'd come up with something a little different than all the blaster secondary attacks we have now.

Like, instead of Sonic Punch, or Radiation Sword, how about Sonic Swipe, where you get a temporary sonic "claw", or Radiation Lance where instead of conjuring a sword and swinging it, you conjure a lance/spear and stab with it. I know this would require new animations, at least in the case of a spear/lance, but if they just changed the visual effect and damage type of Fire Manipulation and called it Radiation Manipulation, it would be neat for about 5 minutes and then it would feel like you were playing a /Fire blaster.

As for Radiation Melee being too much like Energy Melee, not really. Get rid of the smashing damage type and knockback effect and replace it with a debuff like the radiation primary.
  20. Thanks for your opinion, PsychoPez.

Not that it's any of your business, but I donated $100 to the American Red Cross Haiti relief fund last week and $200 to the Real world Hero charity drive over the holidays. On average I give between $500 and $1000 a year to various charities, so not to sound like a ********, but I'll spend the rest of my hard-earned money any way I choose.

As for not taking a ticket away from someone else who really wants to go to enjoy all of PAX, well, the simple answer to that is for Paragon Studios to make convention exclusive costume codes more widely available to non-attendees, since THAT would be my primary reason for going to the convention. Also, I would probably only purchase a one day pass, so I would not be preventing others from buying passes for the other two days, or a three-day pass.

I went to PAX Prime last year. Paragon Studios was about 1% of my time there.

There is so SO SO SO much to do and see at PAX, that if you're only going to see Paragon Studios, you're really short cutting yourself.

Go because you want to be part of something awesome. Paragon being there would only be a cherry on top of an amazing sundae.
Yes, the only reason I will go to PAX East is if NCSoft/Paragon Studios is there. I play exactly one video game - CoX - and I have zero interest in any others, so while there may be a ton of stuff to see and do at one of these shows, none of it interests me.

And maybe there's stuff besides video games at PAX, I don't know. Maybe there are comics companies/creators there, and PnP gaming companies there, etc., but I'm going to San Diego, as well as one or two other comicons, this year where I am sure I'll see all of that stuff and more.

So again, yes, my attendance at PAXEast is based wholly and soley on whether NC/PS will be set up there.

Yeah, but the Devs frown on farming, so that shouldn't be an issue that is holding them back. I don't have any idea why this "problem" couldn't be "fixed" aside from the fact that 10,000 people leaving 70,000 toons parked in half completed missions could use up a lot of memory somewhere.

However, if it was possible to fix this, I don't see any reason not to. In fact, they could even set it up so that if you left the mission willingly you could reset it, by joining a team for example, or possibly by logging out while outside the mission. But if you logged out, or disconnected in the middle of a mission, you'd pick up where you left off when you logged back in.

Sorry to hear about your misfortunes, and the loss of the $300 cash. On the plus side, you'll have an unforgettable experience to look back on. And aside from the chuckles, and obviously the thief, you seem to have dispelled the stereotype about French folks being rude and self-important.

I can't help but wonder about the orginal theft though - was your pocket picked or did someone make off with one of your bags, or what? Just curious, and your experience may provide some "what-not-to-do" recommendations for others.
  24. Alright, so we are now exactly two months from the start of the show, and PAX has posted the following on their website:

    01-20-10 Only the facts.
FACT. We will sell out of badges for PAX East Coast 2010.
If you want to go to the show, now is the time to register. Much like PAX Prime, based on what we’re seeing on pre-registration numbers there will be NO BADGES AVAILABLE AT THE DOOR. I don’t like to use all caps, but I felt me being rude for a minute there was worth trying to avoid some very angry people at the door in March.

Can we PLEASE get some word from official channels as to whether NCSoft/Paragon Studios is gong to be there? I can't believe there's any way that the company has not yet decided whether to set up, so if you're going to be there, please tell us, if you're not, just tell us that too.

I will be far more upset if the show is sold out by the time NC/PS confirms they are going to be there than if they just tell us now that they aren't going.

If there is some stupid non-disclosure agreement that prohibits companies attending PAXEast from telling their fans they are exhibiting at the show, at least tell us that.
