Yes, if the dvd market has taught us anything, its that there is almost always going to be something newer and shinier coming along in 3-6 months. You can either buy your copy of Iron Man 2 the first day it comes out and get the exclusive mini comic from Best Buy, or you can wait until Christmas when they release the Deluxe Edition with all the fancy dvd extras, or you can wait another six months and buy the Collector's Edition with the Iron Man/War Machine book ends. What you can't do is buy the Best Buy edition and then complain that you were not properly informed about all future plans for all future releases of the product. Well, you can, but it's just as useless as it is in this situation.

The fact that all of these enhancements are damage/recharge enhancements makes me wonder if there is a deal in the works with Best Buy or someone that will come with accuracy/end GROs. Hmmmm...
  2. Speaking of things we missed - did I blink and miss it, or did they never show how Ben got free from under that tree that fell on him?
  3. What I don't get is, if it's rude to ask to join someone's team, isn't it equally rude to ask someone to join your team?
  4. I would totally watch a sequel to Lost featuring Ben and Hugo protecting the island!

Fanwanking, the sunken Island was a metaphor in that, if it was still above water, and people were awaken, they might desire to go back to the Island and not let go or move on. The Island needed to be destroyed so these people could realize they needed to live and learn in the "real world" and not potentially run and hide on the Island.
A good enough guessplanation, but it presumes that each of the Losties subconsciously knew the island had sunk (including Ben and Shannon, who weren't on the plane), plus I still think it was unnecessary. It was important for them to move on whether the island still existed or not, and I think it would've been more fulfilling if the island existed, and they still put it behind them. All-in-all, a minor gripe about a great season of a fantastic show.

Also, just out of curiousity - am I the only Lost fan in existence who didn't hate the Paulo and Nikki mini-storyline?
  5. Lved the finale. I would've liked some more answers about the nature, purpose, or origin of the island, but I'm OK with some things remaining unsaid.

I loved what the "sideways" reality turned out to be, but I have at least one problem with it. If the sideways reality was all about the souls, spirits, etc. of the losties finding each other, what was the deal with sunken island in the first episode of the season? Was that metaphorical - did it represent the fact that they all buried the sins of their pasts? Or did it mean that sometime in the far distant future, after Hugo and Ben's time on the island, it really did sink?

Either way, I now wish they'd never shown it. If it was a metaphor, it was unnecessary, and a just tease for something that never really meant anything and never came to fruition. If it was the latter, then I call BS because from what we saw of the island shaking itself apart, the Darmha compound never would've still been standing.

The other thing the ending makes me think about regarding the sideways reality is, where there ever any scenes in which one of the people at the church at the end did not appear? If not, that would be awesome. Since that reality was merely a construct of their souls, spirits, subconciousnesses, whatever, there really shouldn't have been any scenes they were not in. I don't think that's the case though. Aside from the aforementioned underwater island scene, I think there was a scene with Keamy and his sidekick in the hotel hallway looking for Jin and Sun. If there were scenes without the main characters, I can live with it, but I think it would have been much cooler if there weren't any. The sunken island bugs me though.

    Post a Character

A character I came up with after listening to some 80s music on my iPod on a long drive one weekend...

This bit struck me as kind of humorous. I appreciate the fact that the Item Pack is only going to cost $6.99 instead of $9.99 like some of us were speculating, but is it really necessary to call it a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price when the only place you can buy it is directly from the manufacturer?

"We're suggesting to ourselves that we sell it for $6.99, but we're not sure if we're going to listen to ourselves."

Minor point, but what the OP is asking for would actually only encompass 4 years and 3 months of playing at this point since no costume features have been awarded since the 51 month level.

    Stuck

To the OP - sorry you had trouble with the mission.

To everyone else - thank you for making me really want to play my ice/ice blaster again!

  11. Started looking for them in RV, realized capturing pillboxes wasn't as hard as I thought, and started doing that instead of looking for Toxic Tarantulas.

I guess what I want is a craftable costume piece like Rocket Boots then - something that animates when you fly.
  13. Shannon would be happy to be the tank next week, Dread. She's one of the few heroes who admires Fusionette's straightforward approach, and she's tired of Mag constantly stealing her aggro.

I find it crazy to burn holiday time to go lie on the beach and risk getting skin cancer, but more people do that than play video games.

Never saw that list before. A few of the things that surprised me:

Enhancement diversivication was a player suggestion/request?

Travel suppression was a player suggestion/request?

You didn't used to have to type the character's name to delete the character? Yikes!

And to answer question #3: I do, and yes, I'd like to see more even though I haven't checked out all the ones they just added. Still hoping for a craftable jet pack.
  16. Quick update folks.

Mag, Dread and Shannon helped out Jim Tremblor and his trouble-prone girlfriend Fusionette last night. He mentioned Penny Nin needed some help also, but we haven't gone to see her yet.

I think Mag and Dread hit 20 last night, and I ran Shannon through a couple left over missions this morning to catch her up (and to get sweet, sweet stamina).
  17. You don't have to invest extra money for costumes, but there have been some Booster Packs - six in all I think - that you could purchase if you wanted to. The Booster Packs - Natural, Science, Technology, Magic, Wedding, and Valkyrie - include costume pieces that are not otherwise available, as well as some bonus powers and emotes that are not otherwise available.

There are also some costume pieces available only through various editions of the game - Good vs. Evil, City of Heroes Collector's Edition, and City of Villains Collector's Edition.

None of these bonuses are necessary to play the game at all, but if you really become enamored of it, you'll probably end up buying some of them.

Have fun, and welcome to the game!

    Just sayin'
They say when your hobby becomes your job it's time to find a new hobby, so maybe that's the deal here. I know I sure wouldn't be interested in playing an HVAC design MMO.
  19. I'll bow out if you have an eighth person interested. As mentioned, three static teams is probably too many for me anyway. Good luck!
  20. Hey guys, if you get enough interest to fill an 8-person team, I will gracefully bow out. As I mentioned last night, 2 static teams a week (Blue Shield and Gold Corp) are probably my limit. If you need help getting the ball rolling, I'll definitely be your eighth, but if you don't need me, don't feel bad about me not joining.
  21. Put me down as a Blaster. I don't have a concept fleshed out yet, but the character will likely be either Ice/Ice or Fire/Ice depending on what kind of cool names I can find free (ETA: no pun intended).

Close enough for what? To walk to? From what I can tell San Diego is a three hour drive from Ventura county (unless there's one somewhere other than CA). I think 90% of the people in this thread would love to have a meet 'n greet withing a 3-4 hour drive of where they live.

Coming to us is nice, but a bit more consideration is better.

Sounds like it was the turnout at the PAXEast meet 'n greet that convinced them to do this, so they couldn't possibly announced it before PAXEast since apparently no one had the idea at that time.

Regarding Chicago - I think they're talking about renting a room at a local restaurant for the night and hanging out with folks over drinks and free appetizers. Since they want to schedule it around an existing convention, they might be considering hosting a panel at the con, and possibly, but probably not, a booth. However, I don't think they are talking about throwing a HeroCon style 2-day bash with panels and costume contests, etc, so I don't think union rules and convention costs would have anything to do with it.
  24. Looks like Dragon*Con is the same weekend as PAX, so that's probably out, which is a shame since that would be perfect.

If that's the case, I'd vote for Gen Con (early August), Origins (late June), or the Chicago Comicon (mid August) in that order. Although, an appearance in TX would be completely justified as well.
  25. Don't you lose rep by being defeated? If so, a bunch of badge toons taking turns beating each other are never going to get anywhere, or are going to get there very slowly.

By contrast, I recently got Forward Observer with the help of only one other player. We each had 4 toons that could get into a PvP zone in addition to our badge toons. We took turns cycling through those four toons and letting the other player's badge toon defeat them.

In this way we were each able to earn 40 rep over the course of 2 hours. With the 2 rep degradation per day, it took us three nights at 2 hrs per night to get both Disruptor and Forward Observer.
