Quote:I think we remember them mainly because there only ever were two of them, and everyone was looking for them when they first came out. If we were two years and and they were still running, I think most would be hard-pressed to name the majority of them. Heck I used to think there was one from Burger King, but it turned out that was a fake ad that had always been in the game.A lot of you still remember the ads, so they worked in terms of reinforcing those brands. Although, they probably didn't convert to sales.
I personally think it would be hilarious to see ads for Apple products on billboards in Praetoria. Wait, are there billboards in Praetoria? -
I'll be there. We were talking about maybe starting to run some TFs. I know I said I wasn't keen on running Posi, but I changed my mind and would be OK with starting part 1 tonight if everyone is going to be there, and if you guys want to.
Excellent write up by the way, Starflier! -
As long as they don't horribly mis-cast the role of Death, I'll give it a shot. If they hire Kristin Kreuk or that girl from the Twilight movies to play her, I'm out.

To me part of the thing about Tanks is, who in comics represents a tank?
The Blob?
Unus the Untouchable?
...?
When I rolled my first tank, I was thinking Incredible Hulk, or Superman, and I think that's probably what a lot of people expect. There are very few "invulnerable" characters in comics that can't also punch you halfway to the moon, so when people with the wrong impression see how "weak" Tanks' attacks are, they just get frustrated and/or disappointed. -
I'm not talking about 8th stringers like the kid in Freshman who had to stay borderline alcohol-poisoningly drunk for his power to work, I'm talking about headliners.
For me, it would have to be the Human Torch. That power is just way too dangerous to have in reality. I don't care how much control you have, you burst into flames enough times and you're bound to make a mistake and hurt/kill someone.
Runner-up, but only in a world where I'm the sole super-being would be Rogue. In the Marvel Universe, I'd be ok with having her power, because aside from the occasional fist bump, I don't like people touching me as it is. If I suddenly gain her powers in this reality though, that would suck. What, am I going to absorb Julie from Accounting's amazing cooking skills, or Harold from Enginnering's ability to hit a softball? -
I consider myself a comic book fan, and a geek in general. I go to at least 2-3 comic book conventions every year, and haven't missed 2 SDCCs in a row since 1997.
I had never heard of Scott Pilgrim before the ads for this movie came out. Maybe that's why it floundered at the box office - because unlike Batman, Spider-Man or The X-Men, most geeks didn't know who Scott Pilgrim was.
Or, maybe I'm just old and out of touch. I'd only barely heard of Kick ***, but I went to see that one because it looked more interesting than Scott Pilgrim.
The late summer release also hurt Scott Pilgirm, as did the economy, and the ever-rising price of movie tickets. Last I heard, this was one of, if not the, worst summers at the box office in like the last 10-15 years.
As for Serenity, I still say Joss shot himself in the foot on that one. In the months leading up to its (again, LATE SUMMER) release, he went around the country and showed the movie to like 2/3rds of the people who were breathlessly anticipating it's release. Dummy. -
Quote:How safe is this area? I'm coming in by train to Penn Station, and it doesn't look like too bad a walk distance-wise, but would I be passing through any bad neighborhoods?NYC really needs to do something about the surrounding area around the Javits Center. It's still too dilapidated-industrial looking. Especially while you're treking to it across the very long between-avenue blocks (they're like 2.5 regular blocks in length). I seldom get motivated enough to want to go to an event there.

By the way, let me just say to all those players out there who enjoy playing Tanks, and who play them well - Thank You!
-
Haven't really given Khelds or Soldiers of Arachnos a fair shot, so I'll leave those out of the discussion. Aside from that, on a scale of 1-10 I tend to get the following enjoyment out of the other ATs:
Scrappers -10
Blasters/Dominators - 9
Brutes - 8
Corruptors - 7
Defenders - 6
Controllers - 5
Stalkers - 4
Tanks - 2
Masterminds - 1 -
Can't imagine they'd consider larger team size a crowd pleaser considering how often people ***** about not being able to find a team at all.
Pretty sure this is all about adding Apex to the game in some fashion. Trainer? TF contact? -
The things I've screamed at my monitor would make Rex Ryan blush.

Quote:I didn't know the Clockwork had the same issue. I didn't get mine until PAXEast, so maybe they were fixed by then.Yeah, it kinda sucks. The same thing happened with the Clockwork costume.
Quote:Forcing player animations was probably a lot easier then adding more animations to the model. -
I'm so bummed. Last night I toggled on the Ghoul costume I got from SDCC and... I just stood there. Sure I looked like a ghoul, but I didn't act like a ghoul.
When we first got these, if you toggled the power on, you not only looked like a ghoul, you also ran like one and growled/snarled like one. It was VERY cool. The downside was that the costume didn't follow any of your attack animations, and I guess that's why they fixed it.
I wish they hadn't though - running around freaking out like a berserker zombie more than made up for the fact that I didn't raise my arms when I used Fire Blast. Ah, well. -
Congratulations
I am jealous of you all
Want that costume code -
Ha! Thanks for the props, Sailboat.
I see lots of great names in the game, but I can never remember them when it comes to threads like this. The best name I can remember seeing off the top of my head is Fortunata Cookie. -
The time-travelling villain in the Magic Man arc blueside is fun too.

Quote:Actually, concerning the Star Wars Prequels, they did one thing right: Their endings. Especially Revenge of the Sith. No, not Vader's "NOOOOOOO!", but the very final shot. We've seen a movie where everything went wrong for the good guys. The Jedi lost, hard. Then in the final shot, we see Obi-Wan hand off Luke to Owen and Beru and they step outside and watch the binary sunset, just like Luke will in Episode 4. The music swells and... END! See you in A New Hope!
For all their faults, the prequels ended exactly the way they should.
You realize though that Lucas ended the first two prequels the exact same way he ended the first two original trilogy movies right?
Star Wars - Medal Ceremony on Yavin IV
Phantom Menance - Awards ceremony on Naboo
Empire Strikes Back - Leia and handless Luke gazing out the window of the medicial frigate with R2 and 3PO nearby.
Attack of the Clones - Padme and handless Ani gazing at the Naboo sunset with R2 and 3PO nearby.
Not that the endings to TPM and AotC weren't good, they were just almost the exact same shots as 22 years earlier. I agree though that the twin sunset ending of Revenge of the Sith might have been the best ending of all 6 movies. -
I never got one either.

No problem. Sounded like no one had taken you up on your offer, so you still needed someone. Glad to hear you don't.

Quote:August 27th was my only niece's birthday. She turned 35! I don't remember the day she was born too clearly though, because I, fortunately, was only 8 at the time.Today is my oldest niece's 18th birthday. I remember the day that girl was born like it was yesterday. I was but a wee twelve-years-old...Damn I'm depressed now.
So happy birthday, all you youngsters! And stay off my damn lawn! -
If you still need an owner, and it doesn't have to be an Infinity player, I'll join. I think my team is going to suck in my other league this year, so maybe if I join this league, I'll still have some fun with FF.

I didn't win anything. I see someone from my hometown, and someone from close to where I live now each won a 30-day jet pack though.
-
Congrats to the winners, of whom I was not one.

Remember, our new time is 7 to 9 starting with tonight.
Oh and hey, look at that, yet another Tuesday patch to slog through before we can play.
