I can't find the War Witch graphic from that first picture on the other thread.

Quote:I blame a lot of the bad driving we see today on the ridiculous amount of horsepower available in today's cars. A study done by the EPA and Department of Energy shows that in the average horsepower of cars and light trucks in the US rose from a low of 102 hp in 1981/82, to an average of 166 hp in 1997.I think its just me, however I have noticed more and more, people are friggin nuts when they are driving.....
I don't know what the average is today, but below are a few of this year's most popular models and the horsepower available in each. Note, I didn't chose hybrids, which still are not very popular, nor did I chose any large sedans, light trucks or minivans, which historically have higher HP than compact and midsize vehicles. The cases where the available hp exceeds the 1997 average are in bold print:
2011 Chevy Cruze: 136 hp base model; 138 hp turbo available.
2011 Chevy Malibu: 169 hp base model; 252 hp upgrade available on high-end models.
2010 Ford Focus: 140 hp base model; reduced to 138 hp in states with strict emissions laws.
2011 Ford Fusion: 175 hp base model; upgrades to 240 hp or 263 hp available.
2011 Honda Civic: 140 hp base model; 197 hp upgrade available.
2011 Honda Accord: 179 hp base model; upgrades to 190 hp or 271 hp available.
2010 Toyota Corolla: 132 hp base model; 158 hp upgrade available.
2010 Toyota Matrix: Same as Corolla.
2011 Toyota Camry: 169 hp base model; upgrades available to 179 hp or 268 hp (hybrid has 147 hp).
Obviously there are a lot very powerful cars on the road these days, and you know what powerful cars lead to? Aggressive drivers (and wasted fuel). I won't get into the politics of legislating horsepower, but I think it is just as important as legislating fuel economy, or minimum safety features in vehicles.
As a last comment, the EPA study I mentioned shows that at the start of the OPEC energy crisis in 1975, the average hp of cars and light trucks on American roads was 137 hp - lower than all but two examples cited above! -
3-D seems like kind of a weird choice for this movie. Unless they are not planning to use forced perspective like they did in LoTR, or they have a way of shooting it so that the 3-D doesn't give away the fact that Bilbo is standing 10 feet behind Gandalf in order to appear smaller.

I know Broyles isn't as close to Olivia as Peter and Walter are, but he is a crack FBI agent. You'd think he'd notice something is a little off about Olivia too.
And isn't it convenient that Olivia's sister and niece just happened to disappear after seemingly living with her for a season and a half? Maybe the real Olivia kicked them out when she realized she'd be competing with her more fun loving sister for Peter's affections? -
If the guys at DCUO were able to steal whatever is intended for I20 and get it into their game faster than the people who've been working on it for months, I would be seriously impressed.

What amazed me was how we took down Babbage with just, what... six people?
I'd love to continue doing the FP tasks forces, but we need 5 for Sister Psyche, 6 for Citadel and 7 for Manticore. -
If any of the attendees wants to trade the Meat Doctor code for one of the ones I won in the Party Pack contest, please let me know. The only one I've applied so far is the Praetorian PPD.

Just a quick reminder - Synapse part II tonight.

Quote:This. If I come up with a really cool name, I roll up a character to go with that name. I won't say I play every one of those characters religiously, but I do try them out. If I end up not liking the concept or the powersets, I delete the character and typically post that I've freed up the name.If I come up with what I think is a cool name, I have to come up with a concept or at least AT+Powersets before I hitthe character creator.
Otherwise, it just feels like name-squatting.
In a couple of cases, I've made characters with jokey names that I came up with as background for other character bios. In those cases I am name squatting, but it's mostly names I don't see anyone else wanting (i.e. Spell Czech, The Cinemaniac, Ol' Dirty Blaster). -
Hey Fulmens, it was great meeting you and chatting with you and your wife.
I'm pretty much an introvert, so I didn't chat with too many other folks, unfortunately.
I guessed Phillygirl's identity from her PvP question at the panel, but didn't get a chance to say "hi" because I wanted to stay for the DCUO panel afterward and then had to leave that panel early.
I never was able to pick Mishii out of the crowd, but I left the M&G shortly after the raffle, so I missed any dancing that ensued. -
1) Amusement park
2) Shopping Mall
3) Rikti homeworld, moonscape, or other space/sci-fi location. -
Quote:Definitely worth seeing, but I doubt many will get the chance to see it on the big screen. I saw it with a friend last night and there were only two other people in the theater.Worth seeing. Sad that there were 9 people in the theater counting my wife and I.
As good as it is, I don't see much success for this film in the American market. It doesn't have a slasher killing half-dressed co-eds, and it doesn't have a gun-toting hero(ine) blasting blood-thirsty zombies, so the audiences that lead to, what six Saw movies and four Resident Evil movies won't be there. It's a shame, but at least a larger number of Americans, myself included, got to experience this story than if it hadn't beed remade.
A couple of questions/observations:
Any thoughts on why it was set in 1983? Usually when I see a movie like this set in the '80s, I assume the lack of "modern technology" will play a role - a lack of cell phones making it impossible to call for help, for example. But that wasn't the case here. I also thought perhaps at the end of the movie we would get a "flash forward" to 2010 and a 39 y.o. Owen stalking prey for Abby, but the last scene made that unecessary. Though a lesser filmaker probably would have thought they needed to hit the audience over the head with such a scene.
Lastly, why did we never clearly see Owen's mother's face? I took it to be symbolic of the fact that she was merely a peripheral influence on him and not an integral part of his life. Interesting that despite providing food and shelter for him, Owen's mother was more distant, and less important to his existance than Abby's "father" was to hers. -
While I would be in favor of extending the even to a full 2 weeks, I guarantee you there will be people whining by day 4 or 5 that the event is too long and it's making it impossible for them to play.

Lombard Street is a famous street in San Francisco. The room is probably named after it.
It's "the world's crookedest street." -
I'm a Guardianite and I'm here. Look for me.

Got to the M&G around 6:00. Got a bracelet, and got in line. About 5 minutes later I was told they were letting Guild Wars 2 contest winners in early and I needed to get out of line. Hope this doesn't screw up my chances of getting in.

Quote:They changed their minds? Or maybe Arachnos thoughtthe invasion would go more smoothly if they misdirected all the heroes.((Then why were we supposed to be in Faultline if there wasn't going to be an event in Faultline? I logged my character in in AP (nothing was going on) and was in Faultline shortly after 7. I feel cheated. >:l ))
There were several bright red global announcements in chat, including the announcement for heroes to head to AP and PI. I logged in shortly after 7 myself (on villain-side) and I saw them, so they must have been posted between 7:05 and 7:10. Sorry you missed them. -
Only the red names can answer this for sure, but if I was a minor, and I was desperate for a code, I'd consider going to the hotel where the M&G is held and hanging around outside the club prior to the 7 PM start time to see if I could get one.

Anyone else still waiting, or am I the only one now?
Wouldn't mind some sort of Red Name response to this thread. -
Scarlet Widow?

Quote:This one happens to me a lot. I'd say about 50% of the time I log ut at a WW, I end up out back when I log in. It might have something to do with how close you are to the back room when you log out because it doesn't see to happen if I log out near the middle to front of the lobby.Did this happen on Tuesday, about midday? Same kind of thing happened to me, only not so obvious. I was away from keyboard for too long and got logged out while at one of the NPCs in WW in Talos. I came back about 40 min later and logged in to find my char out back near the semi of the same WW in Talos. I just shrugged and went about my business, thinking "that was weird". This never happened to me before, either.

Synapse tonight?

A "Mishii-Eye For the Geeky Guy" makeover sounds very tempting, but I'm not sure I could afford to go clothes shopping in Manhattan.

I used to play the PnP version of Champions back in the '80s and I loved making up costumes for my characters. I used to use a piece of tracing paper to copy the body outline and musculature of chracters in the Off. Handbook of the Marvel Universe and then make copies of the blank characters on a Xerox machine.
When I first saw CoH on the shelves at Circuit City (this was before CoV came out) I almost bought it just to play around with the costume creator. Then I found out I had to subscribe to the game and pay $15 a month. I had no real interest in playing video games so I didn't buy it because I wasn't going to pay $15/month to play with the costume creator.
Several years later I had some Circuit City rewards points I had to cash in, so I used them to get the GvE edition and figured I would try the free month and then cancel it if I got bored with it - no home video game had been able to hold my attention for more than 2 weeks at that point.
Here we are almost 3 years later and I still play 3-4 days a week. -
Quote:No idea what "west villiage" is, but Avatea mentions "upscale casual" in her post, which to me means: no shorts, no jeans, no t-shirts, and nothing with any sports teams' logos. Not sure about tennis shoes or sneakers.Well, I certainly look forward to trying to get into the Meet and Greet...what's proper attire? Spandex and iron gauntlets..or..you know...something more west villiage?..hmmmm
That might just be for the after hours party, but I'd hate to show up and not be allowed into the M&G based on what I was wearing.
I think a safe bet for guys would be khakis, and a polo or oxford shirt. Again, not sure whether althletic shoes are acceptable.
I have no idea what would be considered "upscale casual" for women.
